Hello and welcome back to Badminton Insight. In  this video we're going to show you every shot

play00:04

you need to know in badminton! Yeah and we hope  it will be a useful resource that you can keep

play00:08

referring back to no matter if you're trying to  learn and improve yourself or coaching others

play00:12

and we're also going to give a difficulty  rating for each shot so if you're a beginner

play00:16

try and focus on the easier shots first and  if you're more advanced then see if you can

play00:19

master them all! So let's start at the back of  the court here we have a smash, a stick smash,

play00:26

a clear and a drop shot of which there are  actually seven different types; the standard drop,

play00:34

straight slice, cross court  slice, cross-court reverse slice,

play00:42

straight reverse slice, loopy drop and stop drop

play00:50

still in the rear court we also have a  backhand smash, backhand clear and a backhand drop

play01:00

and finally a late forehand and a late backhand

play01:04

It's important to mention that you can play almost  all of these shots in the video both straight and

play01:09

cross-court with a very similar technique  but we don't want to say both straight and

play01:13

cross-court for every shot. Okay moving on to  the mid-court when your opponents are playing

play01:17

their shot flat over the net or upwards you can  play a drive, a layoff, or a lift over the top

play01:25

and when your opponents are hitting the shuttle  downwards and you're in a defensive position

play01:29

you can play a block, a push which lands a  bit deeper into the court, a drive or a lift.

play01:48

all of these shots can either be played  from your forehand or back on side

play01:51

and lastly a shout out to the brap which is  another defensive shot we recently did a video on

play01:57

so moving on to the net now; you can play a  high lift, a regular height lift or a flat lift

play02:06

and if you want to avoid lifting which we'd often  advise then you can play a basic doubles net shot

play02:10

or one of three singles net shots;  an in to out, out to in or a dead net

play02:16

We've done videos on all of these on our  channel if you want to check them out after this

play02:20

you also of course have the cross court net  shot which again has a different technique

play02:25

three more shots around the  net are a net kill, a brush off

play02:29

and a poke - again from either your forehand or  backhand side. Next are the different serves and

play02:34

return of service you need to know. From the  backhand these are a low serve, drive serve and flick serve

play02:43

and from the forehand  you can do all of these plus a high serve

play02:49

you can also change the direction in which you hit  these serves; either towards the centre line, to the

play02:54

middle of the half or out wide. Now for the return  of serve there's no real new shots here that we've

play03:00

not already covered in this video - from the low  serve you can play a net shot, lift, drive or push

play03:10

and from the flick serve or high serve you can  play a smash, a clear or one of the seven different

play03:16

types of drop shots. So that's 60 shots you need  to know in badminton although there are a few

play03:20

difficult ones in there but that number doesn't  include any deceptive shots or trick shots and if

play03:24

you want to learn the technique for any of these  shots then we've already made tutorials for a lot

play03:28

of these which we'll include in this playlist here  and lastly don't forget to SMASH the subscribe

play03:33

button so you don't miss out on future tutorials  and we'll see you on another video very soon :-)
