hi my name is David Cohen I'm a
photographer and this is my first video
for my YouTube channel that I'm going to
launch with exactly this
clip
now before I go into today's um topics
which is the new Leica Delux 8 and the
Fujifilm x16 and a few other things I
would like to say something a little bit
uh about me I'm a professional
photographer some of you may know me
others will hopefully get to know me um
in many ways I'm quite different in
style approach and handling of
photography and
personality I didn't prepare any paper
or teleprompt because I would like to
talk as I
am now I have been a pro photographer
for more than 25 years even though
photography has been a substantial part
of my life for all my life I'm 60 now
and so you can imagine
when I say all my life I really
started uh before I uh started
Elementary School with the learning
photography on my father's like
M3 before I continue uh today's video is
being taken on a Canon R6 Mark
I and the equipment I use is ul's new VL
49 light which is located above the
camera on a shelf and the microphones I
use this and the receiver is uh mounted
on the Canon camera is
ulans very portable very
performant product here it is called the
V6 so it's not a V6 engine it is a
V6 product
now why am I doing this I'm not so
really the kind of person who goes
around I do make uh offer and make
workshops but with very limited number
of people to be able to interact with
them to address their issues to be able
to cater to their
expectations but there is what really
motivated me to start
now and with now I mean a few days after
like a Delux 8 came out because I'm sick
and tired of the nonsense I keep
reading in uh
various postings on platforms uh
underneath YouTube videos of my
colleagues and this is
my first
ever video where I'm the the main person
because and that's how I want to start
with the Lea Delux 8 now I'm not going
to explain you all the specs there are
tons of other
photographers I'm not going to compare
photos because a lot of other
photographers have already done it and
most of them unfortunately who reviewed
this camera and many others are not real
photographers they are
influencers they don't do anything but
jumping on a bandwagon today it is the
like a Delux 8 yesterday it was and
maybe even today it's the Fujifilm
x16 you name it um I'm talking as a
photographer who has come a long way
from uh a minala xd5 as my first real
real camera even though I started with a
Kodak insta
instatic but what I want to talk about
is first of all this now
Leica is no I don't need to introduce
Leica Leica has a a history of
co-producing cameras with Panasonic they
are together with Panasonic in the
so-called L Alliance
which means that lenses and bodies
are
uh using the same
platform and you see for example looking
at Panasonic's latest
S9 the body really looks like a
Leica um now what are most people saying
about this camera that's a
micral and a lot of people just say
microphone thoughts what is this it is
any way better than any smartphone it is
a
very old and if you want so established
format which combines a lot of
advantages we are not talking about like
a Q3 or whatever the reason why this is
a micro for thirs camera and has
remained micro for thirs camera is that
even an upgrade to apsc would have made
everything bigger heavier and would have
lost what Deluxe actually
means today Delux 8 is the first Deluxe
that is a true like a product you see
nothing that reminds you of
Panasonic we have
uh a design change where many people
love to say it's a Baby Q three we have
finally the like
a
uh menu
system which is a huge Advantage we have
an OLED
display uh in the electronic viewfinder
we have a six 50% higher brighter back
display so what what else should Leica
have changed it was a great camera it is
a great camera and it takes all the
boxes to be
a daily companion I take this camera as
I took the Delux 7 which I liked a lot
uh with me I immediately sold my Delux 7
when Delux 8 was uh announced in order
to get as much for my investment back
and I immediately or this camera and
thanks to my friends at digital store
Vienna and they are so good that I even
come only for them only to get my gear
at digital store Vienna from
abroad their expertise
their um help and assistance makes the
trip to Vienna worth the effort and the
money it takes to come
there and I think it says a lot when
you not only don't order via Amazon but
find a store find people find an
incredible staff and assistance that you
take uh the I wouldn't say the pain but
make the effort to go there to buy there
to reward them and to enjoy the customer
care now I got it on July two 9 minutes
after leica's official Sal start which
was 1,500 hours I was there at
1509 this is a perfect camera for um
every day and as many others already
outlined when you know what you can do
what you have to do it is a very very um
how can I say capable camera it depends
on you it depends on your
literacy uh Panasonics had it right A
lot of people why the S9 is full format
because most of the people don't have
the literacy to handle a micro
fors it requires understanding and not
spray and pray or pray and spray as you
want to yeah most people do and that
leads me
to
my previous
um purchase of the Fuji
x16 which I have
here when I switched
to
Sony re uh realizing that uh mirrorless
was the future in
2015 everybody said take Fujifilm I said
I will never take
Fujifilm I don't want them
now I ended up uh this is the end of a
journey where I even switched from Sony
which was always an intelligent but not
emotional uh
decision to Canon because of their color
science and I was really blown away but
at 60 years and uh my hands also due to
asthma medication are not that stable
anymore and having a two-hour shooting
with a relatively heavy body makes this
body very um
attractive it is
basically you can look it up at three
elephants Three Blind Men and an
elephant it is
basically uh absolutely comparable to a
like a Q2 and in many in many regards
even a serious competitor to like a q
free from a technical point of
view this was supposed to be
this uh travel companion every day I
tried several things and I sold my Canon
R5 with most of my
lenses the the lenses we kept are the
ones my wife uh is using she's not only
a model but increasingly a photographer
making herself uh an name in the
photography uh business behind the
camera at this time and I have decided
to go with this an
apsc um and this very compact body and a
fixed lens because when I look at all my
photos most of them were taken around
this range 35 40 whatever I need to move
a little bit I don't work out so
whatever when it is 40 or something else
I need to move a little bit why
not this is also somehow walk down
memory Lanes when I started with a Leica
M3 this is I think the end of a long
journey and I'm very excited to make
my future
work as of already a month ago with This
brilliant
camera now that was a very short
overview I know it's a little bit long
maybe but I just wanted to touch a few
topics I just wanted to say who I am
that now I'm here on this platform
too I um hope you will come and
subscribe it is there there I will
link uh the ulanzi equipment I will link
Digital Store once again this is not
sponsored by anybody it's not sponsored
by olansi it's not sponsored by digital
store but I want to give credit where
credit is due and this is Fujifilm for
an amazing camera this is Leica for
putting so much effort into a small as
many say entry camera which is now
really brilliant uh product and I want
to say thank you to ulanzi
who by chance Instagram I found this and
that's really awesome and very
affordable equipment we are living in
different times we are living in
difficult times a budget everybody has a
budget and this is my way of tackling it
