Outlines
π Introduction to the Five-Star Selector Event
Calamity greets the audience and jumps straight into discussing the new update's free five-star character selector event. This event is available post-5.0 update until October 8th, allowing players ample time to claim their free five-star character upon logging in, with no additional quests required. The event is accessible to new players once they can wish for characters. Calamity emphasizes the importance of choosing a character wisely, suggesting that players consider their play style, needs, and enjoyment.
π‘οΈ Analyzing the Shielder - Dia
The script delves into the character Dia, a unique shielder who absorbs damage even when not on the field due to her passive talent. Despite her potential as a DPS, Calamity notes that Dia requires significant investment to be effective in this role. He advises against choosing Dia for new players due to the distant location of her leveling materials, which are in the far reaches of the game's world, making her a less accessible choice for beginners.
βοΈ DPS Options: Kaching and Duuke
Calamity recommends Kaching as a main DPS character, highlighting her strength post the introduction of the dendro element. She can be versatile in various team compositions and is fun to play. Duuke is also recommended, with similar versatility and strength, making both characters excellent choices for new players. Calamity suggests that players check gameplay guides or videos to see these characters in action and decide if they fit their play style.
π Sub DPS and Support Characters: Mona, Chi-Chi, and Tiaari
Mona is described as a sub DPS and debuffer, useful in specific team compositions but not the best choice for new players building vertically. Chi-Chi is a dedicated healer but lacks the utility of other support characters, making her a less favorable option. Tiaari is recommended for players interested in dendro DPS, but like Dia, requires traveling to a distant region for materials. Calamity emphasizes the importance of considering early game polls and the accessibility of materials when choosing a character.
π₯ Final Recommendations and Gameplay Advice
Calamity concludes by reiterating the importance of trying out characters through gameplay videos and guides. He advises new players to pull on beginner banners and standard banners to see what characters they get before making a decision with the five-star selector. He also emphasizes the strategy of building a roster of characters horizontally before investing vertically in a select few, ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable gaming experience.

Transcripts
hello everybody Calamity here no intro
joke today just happy Natan release day
and during the maintenance I decided to
make this video to help new players out
as we talk about the free five-star
selector event that will be happening as
soon as the update goes live and I just
want to talk about how do you actually
get your five star character and which
one I would pick if I was just starting
out and of course we'll talk about each
uh individual character but that's a lot
to do so let's go ahead and get started
so first and foremost how do you
actually get your first five star
character it's going to be available as
soon as the update goes live is right
here after the 5.0 update and then you
have until October 8th at well just
about 1,500 hours uh to pick your five
star so even if you are someone that's
just happened to stumble upon this video
and you're taking your break from genon
right now come back just log in okay and
you'll get your free five star and pick
whoever you want and then you can just
continue your break that way there's no
gimmick there's no extra Quest you have
to do just log in and grab it and then
eligibility for new players this is
unlocked for you this event is as soon
as you have the ability to um to wish
for characters that's full uh in gotcha
terms for as soon as you can pull for
characters uh you'll have access to the
event so really really easy and then the
details are self-explanatory you just
pick one of the five star characters
from the standard Banner of your choice
you can only invite one of them so big
big choice for new players out there I'm
sure a lot of Veteran or old players
already know who they want either a
character they've been missing or a
character they just really want to
invest in now with that being said let's
go ahead and move on to the boring
answers about this event like who should
I pick who's the best character go ahead
and just pick the one that's the most
fun for you okay I don't know if there's
going to be character trials available
for each one so that everyone can you
know give each character a a shot but if
there isn't my suggestion would be to
just go on YouTube and just like Google
or or excuse me uh look up just gam play
of Dia or whoever you're just did
basically theing Mona Chi-Chi Jean for
example so I would do that just to see
which one fits my play style the other
boring answer I'm going to give you is
pick the one that you feel like you need
so for example let's say you're not
happy with the healers you got off your
beginner PS or your first couple limited
PS or your standard PS whatever then I
would go for Chi-Chi or Gan preferably
Jean in this case sry means because
she's a much better healer and overall
uh support character over Chi-Chi so
that would be my um two cents so that
that that's the boring answ is out the
way first before anyone's like oh you
should pick the one that's the most fun
or pick what you need yeah there you go
okay we're going to talk about each
character and I'm going to share my
thoughts on them and whether or not I
would pull for them if I was new so
we're going to start all the way on the
left so Dia is first and I'm sorry I'm
not going to have background gameplay
for you cuz again the game is currently
in maintenance mode and I don't have
b-roll footage on my computer cuz I'm a
terrible content creator so let's go
ahead and uh start with dia Dia is a
kind of an a unique character in a way
that she is a shielder but most
shielders will summon a shield and that
Shield will protect you from damage
right well Dia herself is The Shield
that's her passive Talent even when
she's not on the field she will actually
take a portion of the damage that your
character onfield takes as and minus it
from her own health bar so she is a
shielder in that way um she was also
meant to be some sort of a DPS but I'll
be honest her DPS numbers are terrible
without some heavy heavy
investment um she does have a lot of
Versatility when it comes to building
her you can put her in a bur team if you
want you can max out her support
capabilities of being a shield on your
team or you can again you can try to
make her as a main DPS but that's going
to take some again heavy investment I
would build her if I was starting out I
would go for the
uh the support build where she becomes
your tank your Shield so to speak or the
buron one if you have the characters
necessary or uh yeah the if you have the
characters necessary to build the buron
team I would go for that however I
strongly strongly advised against you uh
picking Dia as your first one
because out of all these characters here
her materials and the way you're going
to like get her leveled and stuff are so
far away from you it's one of the
furthest
destinations uh in the game like even
though tinari is also from uh sumuru as
well even his stuff is closer but Dia's
stuff you're going to have to travel
really really far to get her leveled
once you want to invest in her all the
other characters though are either from
monat or leeway and that's literally the
beginning areas so keep that in mind
that's also why I don't advise against
pulling Dia at least or on all right
next up is kaching and I do recommend
her as a main DPS for everybody uh new
players old players veteran players uh
she did have a bit of a wonky start um
in this game's lifespan at first a lot
of people didn't really like her that
much and Electro itself wasn't really
that strong of an element however once
dendro was introduced into the game she
became much much stronger for kaching if
you do end up getting her optimal teams
she ends up being really really strong
and she will carry you throughout the
entirety of the game however you know
like new players won't have access to
like all these characters quite yet asz
a lot of her optimal teammates are other
five star limited characters however
that doesn't mean she can't be put in
something like AEV ruse overloaded team
and do really really well you can put
her in that you can put her in
electrocharge team with some Hydro
supports she'll do well there early on
at least very versatile with her teams
as well and an overall she's a fun DPS
to play because it's not like a one
button and then the game plays for you
kind of thing uh you will be using the
entirety of King's kit from her normal
attacks to her charge attacks skill
burst it's all there very very strong
character and can only get stronger the
longer you play the more characters you
pull for and the more team teammates she
has to choose from next up is Mona uh
Mona is a I would say a sub DPS support
or a debuffer her ultimate can trap
lesser enemies but it also applies
what's called The Omen debuff and makes
them take a lot of damage she kind of
was in a very like
Niche like team she was a niche teammate
like I I always used her in freeze teams
and that was the majority of her usage
she does have a little bit more freedom
these days um with her team versatility
for sure I would say she's okay like if
you want to pull for she's not the the
worst option but she's also not the best
um if you are building her vertically
that means you are getting her
constellations then she kind of turns
into a like a main DPS sort of it's not
really the best thing there's definitely
other Hydro DPS characters in the game
um that do a much better job and have
less RNG so again she's an okay Choice
next up is Chi-Chi who's the fourth one
here uh chii she is not really good at
all I'm sorry I'm sorry her job is to
heal your team and she does do that
really really well however she does
unlike Jean who's to the right of her
she doesn't provide a lot of utility
Buffs or debuffs to enemies Jean does
that and a lot of other fourstar
supports also have healing but they also
do more that's Chi-Chi's main problem is
that she heals but the rest her utility
is very very little um and that's about
it there is a fun little neat build you
can do with her where you turn her into
a physical DPS or you try to max out her
damage with the ocean H clam set but if
I had to choose a Healer as I said
earlier I would choose the character to
the right of Chi-Chi which is Jean Jean
basically heals way more and has solid
damage and again
provides Buffs de Buffs and everything
in between as you build her so very very
strong character very easy to build next
up is tyari I would recommend him for
players that need a dendro DPS character
if you've been wanting to dabble in you
know the djo element he's a great
character to do that um however just
like Dia you will have to hike it over
to sumu as fast as you can to get his
materials so you can level him up and
get him stronger as soon as possible now
the the downside to tyari is that his
teammate versatility compared to like
king or even Mona is very little like
tyari wants to be in what's called a
spread team and to get the spread
Elemental reaction you just need Electro
characters so if he didn't really pull
or get a lot of Electro characters to
pair with tinari for example um official
is a great character for this you could
use Lisa of course she's the three Force
star that you get just from playing the
story um but her her Electro application
is okay FAL is obviously going to be the
better one because she can apply lots of
Electro off field um Lisa can do that
with her burst but regardless you know
depending on who you have like this
character will not work well with other
elements other than Electro like you can
I guess you can also do uh pyro if you
have some sort of burning team but Emily
is the character to go to if you want to
do some like burning shenanigans but I
guess even him with Johan Ling would be
an okay combo as well so would I
recommend him for new
players it depends on your early game
polls if whether or not you're okay with
having to force yourself to go to a
certain region early again you don't
have to like complete the sumu story or
anything like that you literally just
have to run over to sumu which can be
kind of
Farish um but again Diaz is way further
than tinar and that's something new
players should definitely consider cuz
really skip to Nat land button but there
isn't a skip to sumaru's deserts and
Forest button I'm pretty sure so keep
that in mind if you decide to pick a
standard character from the sumaru
region last but not least is the Luke
and I absolutely do recommend this
character for new players he's just as
good as kaching um they both kaching and
duuke both have like a lot of teammate
versatility so you compare uh or sorry
you compare up deluke with characters
like um Jing Cho for example and he'll
do really well you can even do like some
monop pyro stuff with him and like Sean
Lane if you want to he works well with
Bennett um he works you can do
overcharged again you can pair him with
chevous and official if you happen to
get Chev early she'll make overcharge
like go from like good to like really
really great so that's why I keep
recommending chevo and with that being
said that's pretty much it on the
standard Banner characters so for DPS
characters kaching and duuke are
definitely the go-to again both of these
characters are available like early on
like their materials are available early
on so it's easy to build them um as
you're doing the prologue and the first
story chapters if you do want to see
more back like if you do want to see
more gamep playay of uh these characters
again I highly highly recommend checking
out a guide or just gameplay of them
being used in End game so you can kind
of see what they look like and how it
works out and see if that's something
you want to replicate in your game and
that being said if you have any
questions comments about the characters
feel free to ask me down in the comments
down below or if you have your own tips
and advice for other fellow new
Travelers that might be a little bit um
overwhelmed by the new uh character or
the five star selector feel free to
chime in your advice as well something
else that I want to say before I end and
I probably should have said this at the
beginning is that you should definitely
do your your beginning polls first like
you're going to be showered with gems
and poll and wishes left and right as
you first play the game so pull on that
beginner Banner pull get a couple pulls
on the standard banner and The Limited
Banner um and see what get you get first
cuz you could end up getting one of
these five stars early you never know um
from your polls and then that'll help
help you decide which one you want to uh
pick like let's say you get an early
duuke or an early Jean then hey you
don't have to pick you don't have to
pick them but as a new player I always
advise building horizontally over
vertically at first what I mean by
horizontally is that means to get more
characters first like build up a roster
of characters that you actually want to
build and enjoy first then once you
found those teams that you really really
like that's when you start to build
vertically and that means to get
constellations for them or like to
heavily invest in them you know
upgrading their talents they're giving
them really good weapons and artifacts
and stuff like that that's what it means
to invest vertically yeah that's going
to be it for this video thank you so
much for watching again happy and that
land release hope you guys all enjoy the
new update and I will see you all in the
next video thank you so much for
watching
