Keywords

💡Self-worth

Self-worth refers to the intrinsic value and self-respect one holds for oneself, independent of external achievements or possessions. In the video, it is emphasized that one's self-worth should not be tied to productivity or material possessions. The speaker illustrates this by discussing the reflections of people nearing the end of their lives, who often express regret not for what they achieved but for the time they didn't spend with loved ones, highlighting the importance of recognizing one's inherent value.

💡Productivity

Productivity is the measure of efficiency in terms of the output of work done within a given time period. The video script mentions productivity in the context of societal pressures and personal expectations, suggesting that an individual's sense of self-worth should not be contingent upon their level of productivity. The speaker contrasts this with the realization that self-worth is inherent and not dependent on external validation or achievements.

💡Validation

Validation in this context means the confirmation or approval from others or oneself that one's feelings, thoughts, or actions are correct or acceptable. The script discusses the quest for validation as a source of pressure that can distort one's sense of self-worth. The speaker uses the metaphor of a $100 bill to illustrate that self-worth remains constant, regardless of external conditions or the opinions of others.

💡North Star

In the video, 'North Star' is a metaphor for one's guiding principle or ultimate goal in life. It represents the vision that provides direction and clarity on one's life path. The speaker suggests that identifying one's North Star can help in making intentional decisions and in understanding what level of satisfaction is desired, thus contributing to a sense of confidence and purpose.

💡Simplicity

Simplicity in the context of the video refers to a lifestyle that is not complicated or intricate, often characterized by minimalism and intentional living. The speaker discusses the benefits of simplifying life, such as reducing stress and focusing on what truly matters. Simplicity is presented as a personal choice that can vary from person to person, emphasizing the importance of aligning one's lifestyle with their values.

💡Intentional living

Intentional living is the practice of making conscious choices about how to spend one's time and resources, with the aim of aligning one's life with personal values and goals. In the script, the speaker mentions setting up habits that calm the mind and avoiding unnecessary possessions as examples of living intentionally, which contributes to a simplified and more meaningful life.

💡Ego

Ego, in the context of the video, represents the self-centered aspect of one's personality that is driven by desires for external validation and success. The speaker discusses how the ego can lead to a conditional sense of self-worth, where one feels worthy only when achieving certain milestones or acquiring specific possessions, which contrasts with the message of intrinsic self-worth.

💡Meditation

Meditation, as mentioned in the script, is a practice of focusing the mind and achieving a mentally clear and emotionally calm state. The speaker uses meditation as an example of an activity that some might feel compelled to do in order to feel worthy, but the key message is that self-worth is not dependent on such practices or any other achievements.

💡Community

Community in this context refers to a group of people who share common values and interests. The video script highlights the importance of engaging with a community that supports and reinforces one's lifestyle choices, such as living a simple and intentional life. The speaker suggests that having a community can provide the necessary support and encouragement to stay on one's chosen path.

💡Thinking patterns

Thinking patterns refer to the recurring thought processes or mental habits that individuals develop over time. In the video, the speaker discusses the importance of being aware of one's thinking patterns, especially negative ones, that can affect self-worth and mental health. The speaker shares personal experiences of feeling unproductive and the need to challenge such thoughts to maintain a healthy mindset.

play00:00

The past few years I have heard people including  my inner voice tell me you should do more,

play00:05

you should be more. There's this unconscious  feeling of never being enough maybe you have

play00:10

experienced this too and it can be even harder if  your values and actions are not aligned with the

play00:15

expectations of other people but you should still  be you and live life on your own terms. That's why

play00:22

I created this video to share what has helped me  to stay confident and happy while many times not

play00:27

following the social norms. One super important  thing that I'm now starting to realize is that my

play00:33

own self-worth is not tied up to my productivity  or some possessions that I have or could have or

play00:41

don't have. I read this article this week that it  was like interview from somebody who works in a

play00:46

care center that takes care of people who are  like the last weeks of their life before they

play00:52

are dying to some disease. She said that of course  she does like physical things like give medicine

play00:58

and all that but a lot like emotional comfort as  well, and most people there say that it didn't

play01:04

matter what they did during their life in terms of  work or what they owned or like would regret that

play01:13

they didn't have more money. Many times it was  just that they feel like they would spend more

play01:17

quality time with people that they love. And I  think there's a lot we can learn from those people

play01:22

that don't kind of have anything to lose anymore,  when you stop that caring when you are letting go

play01:27

of all that, I think then you can realize exactly  things like this that you are worthy even if

play01:33

you wouldn't push always that hard, even if you  wouldn't make that certain amount of money or you

play01:38

would have just ordinary life. Because you cannot  put a condition to yourself that I am enough if

play01:43

something else. That comes so much from the ego  when you're seeking for that validation from

play01:48

others or validation even from yourself that you  feel like I am worthy if I finally get that job,

play01:55

if I finally find that career that I wanted in my  life, if I do four meditations a day, if I finally

play02:01

find a partner in my life. I don't think all those  things come from a bad place but I think it's

play02:06

important to understand that whether you achieve  those or whether you have just very ordinary

play02:11

life and don't achieve a lot of success in all  the areas of your life, still you are enough,

play02:17

still you are worthy. I heard this good metaphor  for this like if you would have a $100 bill and

play02:23

you would throw it on the ground and someone would  step on it how much would it still be worth and of

play02:28

course the answer is $100 so it doesn't matter so  much like what's exactly the condition to outside,

play02:34

what matters is that value and it always  stays the same and same goes for you.

play02:40

Another really helpful thing is finding  your north star, finding what's your vision,

play02:45

where do you want to go, what are in your life  areas kind of the so-called tens, so what is the

play02:52

maximum thing that you can like think of, what is  the ultimate level like the end goal where you can

play02:58

be in that. Once you understand that, it's so much  easier to understand what you are like kind of

play03:04

more than satisfied with. Of course you could be  that satisfied for like 7 out of 10 but 10 out of

play03:10

10 is like the absolute maximum. Knowing this in  your life for example what type of activities do

play03:16

you want to do, what type of home do you want to  have it gives you so much clarity on where you are

play03:22

in your journey now and where do you want to go.  And what that gives you is a lot of confidence you

play03:27

are not anymore just trying to in a dark forest  go somewhere, you are exactly knowing where you

play03:34

go you know that that that's the path, that's the  trail and you are following that. So in terms of

play03:39

simplifying life for me it could be that I find  a home in a little bit more calmer environment,

play03:45

I set up some habits that will calm my mind  a lot and not buying so many clothes or other

play03:52

possessions but keeping kind of my life very  intentional in that sense. Because I think simple

play03:58

living is something that it's very different for  everybody, we all have our own definitions of it,

play04:03

that's why it's so important to know what's your  vision, what's your goal, what's your North Star.

play04:09

So I'm filming while I'm putting the  clothes to dry. I just thought that

play04:13

it's nice you know to talk about this simple  life while I'm doing very ordinary things.

play04:19

So the third thing that has helped me a lot is  remembering the why. To write down why you want

play04:26

to simplify your life in the first place what is  the thing that you are kind of afraid of or what's

play04:33

the opposite thing what's the other option, so  what would happen if you don't simplify your

play04:39

life. For me it would be that I'm just living a  life that I would regret later I would probably

play04:46

do things and make decisions that wouldn't make  me feel happy for example I have a very addicted

play04:53

mind I have realized that for example for TV  series so I could buy you know the biggest

play04:59

TV and a bunch of subscriptions for different  types of streaming platforms and then just use

play05:07

all my time to do those and I feel like after 20  years if I would just do that I wouldn't achieve

play05:13

many of the things that I want to achieve in my  life for example creating these YouTube videos

play05:18

I will probably have a lot of like difficulties  mentally if I would do that. Especially in the

play05:23

moments when you feel like a little bit less  confident those really that really helps that

play05:28

you have you know the why written down somewhere  and you can go back to and remember that ah this

play05:36

was exactly the big reason why I started this  and it gives you the inspiration to continue.

play05:41

I like these super cozy lights that we put here.

play05:44

The fourth one is to listen to others but  realize that we all have our own opinion,

play05:50

we all are different and I think that that's  the beauty of life but most people are not many

play05:56

times understanding you like if you if you tell  them that you don't need more you are exactly

play06:01

where you are supposed to be and you have enough  already there are so many different opinions and

play06:08

it's good to listen to others to get you know new  ideas and realize and understand what are other

play06:13

people doing be curious about those but just if  somebody tells you that you are doing something

play06:18

wrong you should do this because it worked for me  you should take that as an opinion not as the true

play06:24

fact because most likely you know yourself better  than the other person knows you. But what is super

play06:29

important is that you engage with other people  and other communities that share similar values

play06:35

as you do so for example if you think that living  a simple lifestyle, slower lifestyle and aligned

play06:42

with your values is exactly what you want to do  I think that this channel is exactly your place,

play06:47

it's your community. Because it's sometimes so  hard to be just alone and trying to keep away you

play06:52

know all those distractions and all the different  values and comments and opinions that come and

play06:57

kind of stay on their lane if you don't have that  community support, if you don't have that like

play07:03

reinforcement currently all the time that what  you are doing is correct you are on the right path

play07:08

just trust yourself and trust the process and not  trying to jump from different things all the time.

play07:15

Fifth one is a little bit more advanced I would  say that is be aware of your own thinking patterns

play07:22

and that is especially if they are negative  and for me this has been really like the most

play07:27

difficult thing because I cannot let go of those  thoughts that I should be productive, that I

play07:34

should do more. I used to have this that every  for example bus ride that I have every time I'm

play07:39

walking outside I should be productive I should do  something else with my mind otherwise it's waste

play07:44

of time and I think that this is quite unhealthy  thinking because it means that you should all the

play07:49

time be productive and I used to beat myself up a  lot if I didn't like do that. I was thinking that

play07:55

I'm like a failure. I think that these are in our  society very unconscious things that come from the

play08:00

values of you know needing to be important for  the society and showing up and all that and of

play08:07

course as well like it's difficult to just stay  in silence that that's another fact for sure but

play08:13

you need to understand that your mind cannot  handle all the time being productive, you need

play08:17

to give the moments of pause to yourself. And it's  super important therefore to be aware of your own

play08:23

thinking before you go into that mode where you  start to feel very anxious or bad about yourself

play08:29

and your self-worth goes down because you didn't  do something and even if you slip up like you buy

play08:35

that thing that you didn't necessarily need you  still need to be kind to yourself and understand

play08:40

that these things can happen, not focus on you  know the fall but focus on getting up. During

play08:47

my journey of simplifying life, I have learned  so many things even sometimes like little bit

play08:52

surprising things if you want to find out five of  those lessons make sure to check this video next.

play08:57

Remember to stay kind and meaningful in your own  beautiful journey, see you in the next one. Ciao!
