musically needless to say I have a bit
of experience with the platform but it's
constantly evolving which is why we
always need to stay up todate first
let's address the elephant in the room
why should you advertise on Tik Tok
instead of other platforms Tik Tok says
that nearly two-thirds of people have
purchased something directly on Tik Tok
after seeing it more than half of users
have discovered new brands and products
through the platform what does this mean
for you Tik Tok is a money pool so let's
dive in I'm going to start off by giving
you step-by-step instructions on how to
set up your Tik Tok business account and
launch a successful campaign then I'm
going to give you tips on how to build
an ad creative that sells because
content is key people the best news is
that even if you're not Savvy with
content creation you can hire people to
do it for you for very cheap or
sometimes even for free more on that
later okay let's get into it to begin
you will need to have a Tik Tok account
if you don't have one make sure to watch

how to set up your profile if you
already have a Tik Tok account you're
going to want to switch to a business
one go to Tik Tok and click on the three
lines in the top right hand corner click
settings and privacy then click account
and switch to a business account now
you're going to choose a category for
your business a little advice before we
move on it's important to grow your
followers organically in addition to
using ads because you will need at least
1,000 followers to add your Shopify or
online storefront link to your profile
it's not necessary but it is a huge plus
having a higher following account will
potentially build customers trust for
your brand next head over to Tik Tok
business on your desktop and get it set
up first click get started enter your
email and password select your industry
location and billing method this will
then take you to the Tik Tok manager now
connect your Tik Tok to your business
account there has never been a more
profitable time to start running ads on
Tik Tok than right now a quick tip is to
make sure your ad account is set up
right from the GetGo Tik Tok is always

create ret targeting ads this way you
can Target super specific people who are
already interested in your product or
service like moms who love to ski with
their babies or anything random like
that it's like a little assistant that
is tracking data for you while you sit
back relax and sip on your ice coffee
for example if the Tik Tok pixel you set
up tracks all the people who visit your
website you can Target those same people
with another ad creative that has a
coupon code or special offer this will
make your ads much more effective and
you can finally get those customers to
click that buy now button here's how to
set up a pixel on Shopify to set up a
pixel first click assets and then click
manage events then click create pixel
click automatically set up events via
partner platforms then hit connect with
Shopify hit next and then head over to
the Shopify App Store and make sure you
have the Tik Tok app installed add the
sales Channel then connect Tik Tok for
business make sure you have the right
ads manager connected and hit connect
you'll know by the code select the pixel
you have just made and hit connect then
finish setup select your Target
locations and add a payment method then
go back to Tik Tok and click the confirm
setup button we will choose the maximum
to optimize retargeting there's a
section for funnels we're going to
ignore that for now and do a video on
that feature later all right are you
feeling good stick with me guys this is
going to be worth it now I'm going to
track the complete payment as my
conversion because we want people to buy
our stuff okay next click event Builder
and then click create event here you can
create an event using two different
tracking methods click events click
events are going to count every time
someone clicks on a specific element on
your website such as adding something to
their cart or submitting a form URL
events count users visits to specific
Pages say one of your product pages for
example I'm going to show you how to
create a click event so you want to make
sure to put in a currency to track how
well your ads are doing you want to see
how much money your ads are bringing in
let's get into it click ADD web element
to get started put your website URL in
the preview on the left side then select
the web elements that you want to track
you can put in a value to measure row as
return on ad spend really quick you will
need to link your event code to your
website you may want to download the Tik
Tok pixel helper Chrome extension to
ensure you've linked your code properly
voila you did it that little pixel will
be working for you full time now here is
how the structure of Tik Tok advertising
works you set up your Tik Tok ads
manager then you can set up campaigns
this is where you can choose your
objectives and formats within campaigns
you can set up ad groups ad groups are
focused on the audience you're going to
reach your budget and the location you
would like your ads to show up in within
an ad group is your ad or creative this
is where you decide what videos music
and captions you will use you also need
to decide what link you're going to
point your viewers to it's recommended
to start with three to five ads or
videos in each ad group when starting
out so to make it simple this is the
structure of a Tik Tok ad campaigns ad
group AD creative and URL Tik Tok has a
ton of AD types so I'm going to run
through them with you quickly to give
you a deeper understanding Tik Tok top
view using this ad type the ad is the
first video users see they have a
guaranteed 3se second window for their
video to be shown takeover ads these ads
automatically play for 5 seconds when
the user opens the app and they must
watch it for the whole 5 seconds tiktock
in feed users will see your ad when
scrolling through their feed on the for
you page they can like and comment on
them just like a regular video it can
include a call to action that leads to
an external landing page this is what
we're going to be creating today branded
hashtag challenge for example # in my
denims or # playay with Pringles spark
ads you can turn your own infeed video
that is already posted on Tik Tok into a
Tik Tok spark ad using a spark ad code
Tik Tok shop Tik Tok shop ads are in
feed shopable links on your videos or on
Creator's videos the customer never has
to leave the app to purchase the product
cha-ching ladies and gentlemen branded
effects ads Brands can create their own
sharable stickers or effects and
challenge hashtags for people to use
okay are you ready to start making ads
because I know I am let's get this party
started go to campaigns and click create
choose advanced mode then choose your
advertising objective if it's for an
e-commerce brand you'll likely be
pushing people to your website so let's
go with website conversions because
we're looking to make some cash then you
must name the campaign for example the
charism serial campaign now you have the
option to do split tests you can also
choose how much you will spend on a
campaign level however it's better to
set your budget up on an ad group level
instead we're going to do that in a
second next name your ad group based off
your audience such as Canada female cold
audience this is super important so that
you know what audience you have pushed
your ad creative out to make the
optimization event complete payment this
will tell Tik Tok that the purpose of
your ad is to get people to make a
payment placement this is where they
will run your beautiful ad it's best to
just keep it at Tik Tok as you scroll
through you're going to see a lot of
selections you even have the option to
choose what kind of phones your target
audience has you're going to want to
keep user comments and downloads on if
you want to build that engagement
however if if you feel you may
potentially get bad comments because you
have a controversial product it could be
good to keep comments off you're going
to see something called automated
creative optimization if you use this
Tik Tok will generate combinations of
videos and see what does best if you're
a small business you will not need this
but if you have a huge creative library
and a fat wallet you can keep it on next
choose your audience if this is your
first time making an ad and people don't
know about your brand yet you're going
to want to push it to a broader audience
you can put a gender age and an interest
but don't get too specific you want to
reach that large audience that Tik Tok
can give you a better idea of who's
actually interested in your product once
you've posted your first ad you can
confirm which people were interested and
you can serve them another ad then out
of the people who are interested in your
second ad you can serve them another one

you will spend and how long you will run

people who have never heard about your
brand differently than how you would
treat people who have heard about your
brand before basically cold audiences
and warm audiences cold audiences are
people who haven't heard of you warm
audiences are people who know of your
brand already how should the videos be

be more of an introduction and show why
your products are so amazing focused on
branding who you are what you stand for
and your mission you want to create
