Transcripts
hey guys it's Sydney at TRG are you
overwhelmed with trying to buy a massage
gun because of all the options out there
well I've tested pretty much every
massage gun at least the ones that are
worth it so today I'm going to share my
list of the best massage guns so whether
you're an athlete wanting to maximize
your recovery if you're new to
percussive therapy or if you just want a
cheap Amazon massage gun that won't
break after a few uses I have you
covered so let's get into it
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
all right right away I'm starting with
our top recommendation and that is theun
this brand is probably what you think of
when you hear about massage guns and
they've rightfully earned the top spot
on this list so theab body has a pretty
large lineup of massage guns at
different price points so we have the
fourth generation of the Thea Gun Pro
here that's currently marked down to 299
it shares a lot of the same features as
many other massage guns like the the gun
Prime Elite and the new Pro Plus the big
standout features of these massage guns
are the patented triangular handles and
the 16 mm amplitude so this is the
largest amplitude that's on the market
it's the depth that the massage gun will
actually dig into your muscle muscles
their guns massage guns really dig deep
into your muscles to provide a deep
massage and I think if you're looking
for the best of the best they gun's it
their mid-range and high-end models have
powerful stall forces and multiple
percussive settings like the pro which
ranges from 1750 up to 2400 RPMs the Gen
4 of the pro is a little loud that's
really my only issue with it but it has
been updated to be quieter since this
generation and although we don't have in
for testing yet I really like the new
The Gun Pro Plus so the Pro Plus is now
the premium massage gun in theod lineup
it's pricey at $600 at least at the time
of filming this but the Pro Plus is
pretty unique and it has some cool
features it has hot and cold attachments
vibrational therapy and red light
therapy it also has many of the same
specs and features that we like on the
The Gun Pro so if you really want to
take your recovery to a new level I
would look into the Pro Plus cuz the hot
and Fe cold feature is really cool
otherwise we really like the theun pro
that we have here and the theun elite so
if you're looking for a powerful massage
gun from a reputable
brand the best massage gun runner up is
the bobom Brad D6 Pro it's also the best
massage gun on Amazon it's a bit of a
theun copy cat so if you're looking for
a theun alternative I would definitely
check this one out it's $200 and frankly
for how powerful it is for the price
it's impressive it's similar in size to
the The Gun Pro so both are big massage
guns really the biggest that we have on
this list the D6 pro has a 16 mm
amplitude as well and an 85lb stall
Force now you really aren't and probably
shouldn't place that much pressure a
massage gun when you're using it on
yourself or someone else but this stall
force is the highest that I've seen and
tested with the amplitude you really
don't need to put that much force into
the D6 Pro it really digs into your
muscles plenty without applying much
pressure and it comes with a hard shell
case that keeps everything together
including all of the attachments and
it's fairly quiet so if you want
something that's comparable to Theon at
a great price I highly recommend the
bobin Brad D6
Pro the ekine Kestrel is our pick as the
best massage gun for athletes zachan
Athletics is a new brand and the Kestrel
is a pretty new massage gun what I like
about it is that it's powerful quiet and
it has a higher range of percussive
speed settings so most massage guns are
around 2,000 to maybe 2500 RPMs the
Castrol ranges from 1,800 up to 3500
RPMs so this is the fastest percussive
speeds that I've used on a massage gun
the benefit of the higher percussive
settings is that it's been shown to help
increase your circulation more quickly
than slower percussive settings I really
like the higher speed settings for the
kestral for warming up especially before
workout that's why I recommend it to
athletes it has a 13 mm amplitude so it
doesn't dig in quite as deep into your
muscles as the theun pro and the Bob and
Brad D6 Pro the massage is still
powerful it's just a little more on the
surface so if you prefer less of a
Punchy massage then this one is my top
recommendation
the KL is rated for personal and
professional use and it's pretty well
priced for its quality it's
$250 at the time of filming this it
doesn't have a multi-grip handle like
the Theon Pro and D6 Pro have but this
long handle is really nice for reaching
hard to- reach areas like my back plus
it comes with multiple attachments and a
hard shell zipper
[Music]
case so if you're looking for the best
budget massage gun then I would with the
Bob Brad Air 2 mini it's priced at just
$90 so it Rivals most of the cheap
Amazon knockoff brands in price but this
one is actually really well constructed
and it's a powerful little massage gun
it's very similar to the the gun mini
which is Thea body's smallest and most
portable massage gun the air2 mini is a
smaller massage gun but it's still
pretty powerful it has a 12 mm amplitude
and a 28 lb stall force it also comes
with with everything you need there's
five different attachments that are all
pretty high quality so there's options
to Target different areas ATT tension
and then it also comes with three
built-in percussive settings for
sensitive areas and then deeper tension
and it has a hard shell zipper case the
handle is Sleek with a nice silky
texture that I think just adds to the
overall quality so for a budget massage
gun the Air 2 mini doesn't lack in
quality and
performance the Theon mini is similar to
the bobom Brad Air 2 mini but it's a
little more portable so we have the
first generation here but the second
generation is a little smaller and
lighter than this one it has three
built-in percussive settings and three
different attachments that cover
everything you need and it comes with a
soft zipper case so with its size
features and the case the Theon mini is
my pick for the best portable massage
gun so don't get me wrong I really
appreciate the hard case that most
massage guns come with but but when it
comes to actually packing a massage gun
in my suitcase or even just throwing it
in my bag to take places with me the the
gun mini is definitely more convenient
the soft case is nice to help it stay
protected but it's slim enough to fit in
my backpack or my suitcase the theun
mini has a 12 mm amplitude and it's
Bluetooth compatible with the theab body
app for more guidance like other the
guns and the Triangular handle is easy
to grip
now if you're a beginner who is new to
percussive therapy but you still want a
highquality massage gun from a reputable
brand then I recommend the hypervolt
goto from hyper ice it's
$129 at the time of filming this so it's
well priced powerful and quiet I think
when you first start using a massage gun
the noise can be a bit much all massage
guns generate some sound but the
hypervolt goto is pretty quiet it's also
a good size it only weighs 1 1/2 lb so
it's light and it has just the standard
design the handle is easy to grip and it
digs into your muscles well without
being as deep or intense as some of the
larger and more expensive massage guns
that we have on this list some of those
massage guns might be a little bit of an
overkill for someone who is new to
percussive therapy but the go-to has a
higher range of percussive settings and
it comes with two attachments and it's
the smallest massage gun from hyper ice
and it's the entry-level models so it's
really a great starter from the brand
that has a whole lineup of recovery
equipment another great massage gun
that's my other recommendation for
beginners is the ekan b37 it's $230 so
it's a little pricier than the hypervolt
go2 but it's bigger to reach areas like
your back a little bit easier it has
this long handle like the Eon Kestrel
and it has five percussive settings with
really the largest range that I've
tested on massage guns it ranges from
1,400 RPMs up to 3200 so it's really
helpful if you're new or sensitive to
percussive therapy because you have such
a large range of speed to choose from
and it comes with four different
attachments the round attachment isn't
our favorite but all of these provide
plenty of range depending on the
different areas of tension you have it's
also quiet and Powerful with a 56 lb
stall force and a 12 mm amplitude
to round out this list I want to talk
about the Reno active massage gun so
it's our pick is on aable mention we
don't have it yet but it's very popular
and affordable it's $90 on Amazon and it
comes with five different attachments
and a hard shell zipper case it features
a standard design with a 90° handle and
it's going to provide a little bit more
of a surface level massage rather than a
deep tissue massage like some of the
other higher powerered massage guns that
I talked about earlier because it only
has a 10 mm amplitude but it has a nice
range of percussive settings that range
from 1,800 up to 3200 RPMs so the higher
speeds should make it feel pretty
powerful and for the price it should be
a good
option all right so which massage gun is
best for you massage guns can be pretty
subjective maybe you want the massage
gun to really dig into your muscles or
maybe you're more sensitive and you want
a lighter massage the amplitude is
something to consider this is also known
as The Stroke length it's the distance
that the attachment Moves In and Out and
digs into your muscles for deeper
massage a higher amplitude of really 12
mm up to the highest that we've seen
which is 16 mm is something to look for
most lower-end and affordable massage
guns have just a 10 mm or less amplitude
which will give you a little bit more of
a surface level massage that could would
be good if you're a beginner the stall
Force which is the amount of force that
you can place into the massage gun when
you're using it before it stalls out is
a little less important it can
definitely help to indicate a powerful
massage gun but if you need to apply 30
40 or 60 lbs of force into your muscles
for Relief then you should really
consider a deeper amplitude since that's
what's actually going to dig into your
muscles and the brand is also something
to consider so all of the brands of
Massage guns that I've talked about in
this video have multiple in their lineup
and we've tested many from each and
found all of them to be wellmade with
thoughtful features well except the Reno
that we don't have but I've heard good
things and the attachments are also
something to consider so I would try to
pick a massage gun with at least two
different included attachments that it
comes with the attachments are designed
for different muscle groups and areas of
tension so this way you can dig into
those larger muscles and then you can
apply lighter pressure onto sensitive
areas and most massage gun batteries
last pretty well so for personal use
many come with 10minute timers so they
turn off after 10 minutes of continual
use so for me this is plenty long I
often just use percussive therapy for a
few minutes at a time and with this kind
of use massage guns on this list that
we've included can last for days if not
weeks before needing to be recharged and
for professional use so say your
physical therapist or chiropractor
massage guns that are rated for this
kind of use so the The Gun Pro and the
ekran Kestrel that we have on our list
you'll probably need to charge those at
least once a day but both are made to be
used on multiple people per day and then
finally the price is a big factor so if
you're serious about percussive therapy
you'll probably be spending at least a
few hundred but if you're just starting
out you can get a great massage gun for
about
$90 it just depends on what your looking
