working getting started with Microsoft
Word to open Microsoft Word on your
computer simply click on the Windows
button on your keyboard and then type
word into the search bar then click the
app um to launch it great H but what if
you don't have this powerful software
already installed no worries Microsoft
has got you covered you can get a
completely free version of Microsoft
Word to use on your browser forever just
by typing word. new and then hit enter
and boom you're set way to go Microsoft
now when you log the software you'll be
greeted with this home screen you can
start with a new document or open an
existing Word document here to start
with a new document you can either use
one of the numerous beautiful templates
or just start from scratch with a blank
Word document all right let's start by
opening a blank document and getting
familiar with Microsoft Word user
interface shall
we Microsoft Word graphical user
interface at the top of the screen you
will see what is called the title bar
this carries the name of the file that
is open Microsoft Word calls each file a
document
because it's a document creator and a
reader right mainly below the title bar
is the area called the ribbon this
ribbon is where you find all the
essential tools and commands to create
and format your documents the ribbon is
split into two parts the upper and the
lower ribbon the upper ribbon also known
as the menu bar has tabs with menu items
displayed in the lower rbon the menu bar
is divided into tabs such as the home
insert draw design layout references Etc
each tab contains related commands and
options placed together in groups in the
lower ribbon so under the Home tab this
is the clipboard group then the font
group the paragraph group and so on in
the center of the screen where I'm
standing is the document area this is
where you do most of your work typing
and editing text you can use this scroll
bar to the right here to move up and
down in your document and to zoom in and
out just use the slider over here and at
the bottom over there you will see the
status bar which provides information
about your document like page count word
count Etc now that you're familiar with
the word interface let's move on to
working with text
basic text
editing so let's first start with typing
and editing text to type your text
simply click on anywhere on the document
and start typing let's type in 2024 okay
to go to the next line just press enter
on your keyboard okay now let's type
annual and then enter and then um report
oh no I wanted to write this in capital
letters so if you make any mistake no
worries you can use the backspace on
your keyboard to delete characters to
the left of your cursor or use the
delete key to remove characters to the
right to write in capital letter as
click on the caps lock on your keyboard
and type in your text and to select text
click and drag your C over the text you
want to highlight now let's talk about
copy cut and paste to copy any selected
text use the uh keyboard shortcut crl C
to cut crl X and to paste is crl V just
like so now since we're talking about
cut and paste one handed tool is the
clipboard you can find this in the first
group in the ribbon under the Home tab
now anything you copy get stored in the
clipboard so you can paste several
things that you have copied earlier by
checking the clipboard and clicking on
to paste it like so and there you have
it you have just learned the basics of
text editing in Microsoft Word practice
these skills and you'll be well on your
way to creating professional looking

take things up a notch and explore how

with font Styles and sizes to change the
font of the selected text go to the Home
tab and use the drop- down menus in the
font section you can choose from various
fonts and sizes let's use the areial
font size 48 so we just click on the
drop down okay and look for areial then
we click the font size drop down and
select 48 awesome to emphasize your text
in the font section use the B button to
Bolding the text nice the I button there
is to italicize it and the U button
there is to underline it awesome now
want to add a splash of color click the
font color button and select from a
retinue of colors to change the text
color awesome now let's talk about
paragraph formatting shall we in
Microsoft Word you can adjust the
alignment indentation and line spacing
in the paragraph section of the Home tab
to change the text alignment use the
alignment buttons there and by default
it's on left align so let's align it to
the center okay then let's do right
align okay or use this button to justify
awesome for indentation use these
buttons to increase the indent and
decrease the indent to adjust where your
text starts and then to control line
spacing use the line and paragraph
spacing drop down menu you can increase
the space between the words so let's
select um 2.5 great now if you're
creating list the bullet and numbering
buttons can help you create organized

start with shapes but first let's cut
this um and we'll keep it in our
clipboard till later to insert a shape
go to the insert tab all right and then
click on shapes okay you can select from
all of these shapes that we have here
let's select the rectangle shape okay
and then click where you want to start
start uh drawing the shape and drag to
the required size awesome we can resize
it by clicking and dragging the corners
uh you can see the corner handles okay
to move it click and drag the shape to
the desired location let's put it on the
right side like so okay great let's now
add our text in a text box from the
clipboard okay uh change the font color
to white and then let's move it into
position awesome now let's explore
images to insert an image place your C
where you want the image to go and go to
the insert tab then click on pictures
and then uh this device because we want
to pick the picture from this device
select picture and um insert after
inserting an image you can resize it by
clicking and dragging on the corner
handles uh to move it click and drag the
image to the desired location like so
now we can put the picture behind our
shape by doing a right click and say
send to back awesome looking good
already now let's add an icon click on
the icon button on the insert tab to
select from a variety of icons wow you
can see there are so many of them right
right now let's search for a leaf yes I
like this one and uh click on insert and
boom we have our icon here then uh
change this color to Blue by clicking on
the graphics uh field and selecting the
blue color awesome lastly let's copy the
names of the autors um and then paste
them here okay and yeah let's move them
below this is looking good already now
play around with any of these formats to
