Transcripts
welcome to this first ever beginner
guide of the new game deadlock from
valve this game has been in development
for quite a while and is a third person
shooter SL MOBA crossover similar to
Smite some people might say It's a
combination of games like OverWatch and
do the enemy so right now you're seeing
the laning stage you can see in the
bottom right there are four lanes and
there are creeps pushing Lanes so people
are familiar with games like DOTA and
League of Legends all of of course
understand that uh this is the laning
stage where you farm creeps and push
Towers you'll notice that the creeps
when they die there are small orbs that
appear above their heads these orbs need
to be collected by shooting them to gain
souls and souls is the currency in this
game to buy items and upgrade uh your
powers so essentially the cool thing is
that you can also last it the enemy's
orbs you'll notice they have a different
color stronger to deny the enemy from
getting uh the souls from it so that is
why in the Ling stage you need to
balance both farming but also harassing
the opponents so that they cannot free
Farm which is very similar to MOS I
think for most people that play mobile
games it's not going to be too
complicated to understand the basic
mechanics of this game um but if you've
never played a shooter before it might
be tough to get into all the movement
Technologies
um yeah for anyone who's played a little
bit of typical Shooters and some mobus
this game is probably for
you so right now I'm playing lash which
is my main and we're playing as lady
gist and she has a grenade that does a
lot of harass damage so this is a lane
where I personally like to play
defensive and just try to stay up on
Farm you can see that right now I have a
th000 souls in the top right corner and
she has 700 so she she's spending a lot
of effort on harassing me which is why
the first item I bought was extra regen
gives me a lot of health regen same goes
for Monster rounds also gives you Health
Region
so once you reach 3,000 Souls which you
can see up here you basically get your
first Power Spike that power Spike means
that you now have your ultimate ability
which is the uh bind so until then it's
pretty normal to just Farm a decent
amounts so now okay I'm jumping in
slamming doing some damage she's running
away okay so that was a really good
engage from me I didn't kill her but I
jumped in and did lots of damage to her
so now she's low health and this is
something that's combo it's like know
when you're strong and sometimes it's
really good to trade attacks With the
Enemy like if you can trade trade hits
with the Enemy where they take more
damage than you you then you have more
pressure in the landing stage and you
can either set yourself up for a kill or
just uh Farm more than them or simply
just push their
tower on the towers here are called
Guardians so you see that big big statue
they're shooting so now she's quite low
and I'm looking for a kill but it's
pretty scary because this Tower does a
lot of damage I'm going for it I'm going
in boom she dies and I roll and slide
up so now and this is one thing that is
very interesting about is that the 3K
Souls Mark is a very
important uh timing because that is when
you get your ultimate so because I got
that kill now you can notice how I have
now 3.4k souls and she only has 2.2k
meaning that in the next engagements I
will have a huge
Advantage uh because she simply does not
have ultimate you won't stop me the
laning stage usually lasts for around 10
maybe 15 minutes tops before people
start roaming around to get objectives
um once you uh kill their guardian and
push up the lane it frees up the jungle
and you'll notice here on the timer once
this timer hits 7 Minutes the jungle
camps will spawn and this is one of the
elements that people with Shooters are
not too familiar with is that you
constantly have to balance how much you
can shove your lane and also when you
should Farm the jungles cuz jungles will
give you extra
Souls but it's not always Worth to Farm
the jungles if your lane is being pushed
in because see this is a small jungle
Camp so you'll notice on the map now in
about 5 Seconds a lot of triangles are
going to appear on the map oh there they
are now they show up here are the
triangles them so you see these camps
are hard these camps are medium and that
camp is
easy so what's pretty normal here now
see we're still just like I'm still just
farming here I have 5K Soul she only has
3.4k so you can tell I've already won my
Lane quite a bit and I'm starting to
poke their Guardian down it's already on
50% not doing too much but it's very
important to also look at your mini map
to see how the other lanes go and how
far up the other lanes are pushed
because this also tells you something
about whether or not you are safe to
push your own Tower see now infernos
comes in here and he's trying to defend
the
tower so this tells me that I should
probably back off because I don't want
to fight uh one versus two
end here I come we're going in again
this time I'm noticing that like she's
starting to get really scared of me cuz
I hit a pretty big Power Spike with
um with one of the bigger items I bought
so the way the item system works is that
it's split into Vitality weapon and
spirit Spirit usually enhances your
spells somehow you can see how there are
a few values here that are highlighted
with purple which means that these
values will increase if you buy more
spirits and you can see that each item
type has four slots meaning that you
have to be selected with which item
types you buy and then eventually you
can unlock four extra Flex slots and you
can see what it says here one of them is
unlocked after team destroys a set of
enemy based Guardians one after team
destroys an enemy Walker destroys all
enemy Walkers and finally the enemy
Shrine so that is basically once you
destroy one of these objectives you get
a flex slot once all of these ones are
destroyed you get a flex slot once one
set of these ones
are destroyed get Flex slot and finally
one of those ones so also always being
weary of your item timings and also
knowing that sometimes you need to push
simply to um activate those Fleck slots
is very important so the later the game
goes this becomes uh significantly more
important because you can notice how
sometimes a team will have a big
advantage in Souls but because they've
run out of slots they simply can't buy
the items to give them the advantage
that the souls represent so that is
pretty crucial to know about I can do
this so right now we're starting to
Jungle so you'll notice how I am
jungling while the lane has been pushed
up a little bit uh this is a slot
machine called sinner sacrifice you
punch it and souls will come out of it
and I'm basically just roaming around on
the map collecting uh different
objectives this is pretty common for
anyone who uh plays momas I'm trying to
go in for a gank here get one
kill this is a big fight I'm trying to
just kite
around I'm sure this is very
overwhelming for uh someone who's never
played it before but I highly recommend
just trying the game if you're
interested in a a shooter that's going
to have a lot of
replayability and you can see how much
Mobility some of the characters have too
and this is why I love playing
lash oh well seems like I went a little
bit too ham there but yeah so now we've
reached like 11 minutes which means that
the laning stage is mostly over and
people start to rotate back and forth
depending on which lane needs help and
also just simply like what objectives
are available on the map so now you'll
notice
that uh this Lane
here see the enemy I'm just making sure
that the lane constantly is being shoved
so in the early game you could noticed
that I wasn't really always Auto
attacking the creeps I was just trying
to last hit it to gain Souls because if
you start pushing the lane too early um
you also are opening yourself up to
being more vulnerable to people ganking
from lanes and stuff but now that we've
gotten this late to the game it becomes
significantly more important to
constantly have map control because it
allows you to access
objectives okay I missed my ALT there
that's unlucky so my job when I play
lash this guy has a lot of mobility and
verticality and that is to make sure
that all the squishy targets that are
hard to get to are dealt with right now
you'll see something interesting and
this is something that is pretty U
important in am MOA which is the denying
objectives from the enemy so because we
have pushed this Lane up quite far it
means that now I can try to steal the
jungle camps from them so this does two
things not only are you denying them the
ability to farm their own jungle camps
and therefore they lose uh potential
Souls out of it but I am also gaining
Souls from it so as soon as you shove up
a lane you should always try to like
Farm as many objectives as you can on
the way back so that they can't Farm it
because as soon as they shove the lane
out they would try to farm this after
but if you've already taken it then it's
gone so this is pretty risky obviously
because as you can see here vindicta and
Guist are literally farming right next
to me so this kind of risky but I'm this
is a what I call a calculated risk
because I have a lot of Mobility so I
assume that I can still get out but
let's see also by the way this small
thing here is kind of interesting it
represents how many Guardians and
Walkers are still up on both sides of
the map it's pretty cool it gives like a
quick overview of what objectives need
to be
taken okay so now I hear her above me I
check I check through the window I can
see even dickt up there I'm low HP I do
not want to fight this so I try to
escape the opposite way there we
go the spirit is waiting to and we're
out so now I stole a lot of farm from
them which is huge also I don't know why
there's a rubber band attached to my
head right now but the game is still in
early development need to disarm their
sniper one thing also to mention is that
there is no 100% jungler role like there
is in league the camps do not spawn
every minute like they do in Dota some
camps only spawn like 7 Minutes in and
I'm not sure about the actual spawn
timers but they definitely respawn a lot
slower than they do in Dota as well
which also makes it just like that much
more important to actually Farm them
when they're up to make sure that you're
getting the max Souls out of it cuz if
they're just there for a long time then
you're not going to start the respawn
timers so right now one thing that is
really cool with lash is that his ult is
a death slam so basically you want to
jump right above them you can pick them
up and you can toss them in somewhere
and then the higher up that you hit them
from the more damage or ground strike
does it does damage per meter so every
time I try to defend a walker I always
try to find a high ground nearby because
I can then toss them into the Walker and
The Walkers they have this AOE stun nuke
ability every time someone gets within
range so one of my favorite things to do
to defend Walkers when they push it is
to just try to camp on a high ground
somewhere and try to toss them into the
Walker
stun but you can tell they already saw
me so I'm that wasn't really that
effective here so right now I'm going
straight in for the vindicta see how I'm
like hardcore pushing the vindicta I'm
alting and tossing her back into the
team just making sure that she doesn't
have free reign because she's a very
deadly sniper on long
range okay so now we're pushing their
Walker now this is pretty important this
is the first Walker you see all the
other walkers are still up and we really
want to kill this one because then the
first Fleck slot will
openin but as you can see they are very
adamant about defending it because
they're also aware that this will be a
flex slot for us so they're fighting
really hard for this and it ended ends
up pushing us
the point where we have to back
off and get get out of
there ow that hurts so um the average
game in deadlock lasts anywhere from 30
to 45 minutes usually a little bit
shorter than most DOTA games and uh as
the game progresses one thing I love
about the way valve design this game is
that everything is kind of overpowered
which is similar to how DOTA is too it's
of the characters are definitely not
balanced correctly yet but still the
game plays very like
fun because there are so many insane
abilities so now this Yamato when she
turns red and she floats in the air
she's Invincible for quite a
while and you just have to kite her and
then you can kill her after instead so
yeah you can see that in 18 minutes in
um they are still in lead on souls and
one of the reasons for this is that they
are splitting up really well and farming
a lot um if you look on the map here you
can see that we have much more camps up
than they do um they have done a much
better job in doing objectives they have
also pushed down two of our
Walkers okay so here comes another team
fight see once again I straight go for
vindicta and I toss her into my
team and and so this is like this is one
thing to think about in games like this
in general is Target priority and
there's a lot of things to consider one
of them is how many Souls do they have
okay she has the most Souls so most
likely she is currently the star player
on the team and probably has the highest
damage potential then you have to assess
like am I able to deal with that or or
should I try to avoid it so when she is
flying up in the air like that then it's
my job to take care of it so basically
I'm constantly looking for her trying to
make sure that she can't just free float
in the air and deal a lot of damage to
the
team and then after after she dies now
you notice that now we can start
cleaning up the team fight because for
their uh their biggest damage dealer has
already died another interesting element
about deadlock is the n so you'll see
here there is a n here and they will
spawn on opposite sides every so often
and you need to pick it up been
transported over to the other side and
it gives the entire team a bunch of
souls so this is a pretty important
objective it's kind of like capture the
flag and it's something that is a lot
easier to do if you have map control so
if you have all the lanes pushed up then
one of your teammates can simply just
pick it up and run across and deliver it
so what this does is that if the lanes
are pretty even on both sides it usually
forces a team fight either around the
pickup spot or the drop off spot um
there are many strategies involved in um
how you can efficiently deliver the ear
and so on but you would ideally want
someone who runs really fast to pick it
up you're also disarmed and cannot use
abilities while you're carrying the ear
so you are pretty exposed but there's
also a hero called Ivy who can pick up
players with her ult so a very common
Strat in higher MMR is that someone
picks up the ear and then Ivy picks up
the hero and then she flies them across
and drops them off so let's see if this
earn is going to be contested there go
see now guys picks up the solar a
courier has arrived and notice how the
first thing she does is to not run in a
straight line she actually takes like a
small uturn on her side of the base and
you can notice how the entire team is
now trying to cut her off so here's the
cool thing that can kind of be a
counterargument to doing the ear as long
as you carry the ear you cannot fight so
that also means that if they are holding
the earn it is also beneficial for us to
team fight because CU it could
technically be a 6 V5 she cannot fight
unless she drops the ear so let's see if
we're taking advantage of
that I'm you okay so once again see I'm
focusing the vcta here making sure she
never gets to fight and once again she's
out of the game I see the en and this is
like I she was like very far ahead in
the start you can notice how we're
constantly focusing her first to make
sure that she doesn't keep snowballing
um we still haven't gotten a single
Walker either so it's starting to
become really important you can notice
how the slots are starting to fill up
and we really need to kill a walker to
free up
slots okay here we
are there we go see now now we finally
got the Walker and our first Fleck slot
is finally available destroy so because
we forced that team fights um they
actually didn't end up delivering the
ear and then shiv tried to counter
push so basically they so so this is
another very important aspect of this
game because of their are four lanes so
what happens sometimes is that if you're
forcing a team fight and one of one of
your teammates are not there they could
try to do what's called split pushing
which which is essentially push a lane
all the way up and try to take
objectives while you are fighting on the
other side now this is pretty risky
risky because it means that one or two
of your teammates are not in the team
fight but if you can keep them all
occupied without dying then that could
be a huge benefit for your team in terms
of Soul Advantage however what happens
here is that Inferno and shiv pushes up
and at the same time they already lost
the fight on the other side and we have
already zip lined back oh I forgot to
mention that every lane has a zip line
that you can take all the way up to the
front line where the creeps are pushed
up basically what's happening now is
that we are already back and now we're
defending the base because they tried to
split push and kind of back door you can
see these green uh these green things on
the map are you can call them secret
shops like in Dota but they do have the
exact same items as the base shop
there's also shop next to every lane
this is one right here but they are only
active as long as our Guardian is up and
this is why it's very crucial to defend
your guardian in your lane for as long
as possible because it gives you the
ability to shop items without having to
leave your lane see now we're going to
the shop here I'm going to buy my Divine
Kevlar which is one of my favorite items
from my build um it lowers the cool down
of my ult gives me Spirit life steel and
gives you a big shield and more damage
while you're Ting so this makes makes it
so you can basically just fight a lot
more you can notice how the enemy team
are still in the lead they have an
inferno that is farming really well um
vcta is no longer that far ahead because
every every fight we've taken her out
first and so far this game is looking
pretty even even 25 minutes in and they
have still taken more objectives than us
we still haven't taken the last walker
so the enemy team has four Flex slots
okay so now here's another situation
where and this is why you constantly
have to look at the mini map vindicta
has the earn she's on the way to drop it
off there and her team is currently just
focusing on pushing up the lane making
sure the lanes are nicely shoved so it's
easier for them to defend also even
though in the replay system you cannot
see the earn on the mini map as an enemy
has picked it up you'll just see that
it's gone and you'll just see where they
need to hand it off to but right now we
can see vcta because we're in the replay
system but we cannot see that we just
know that they are probably going to
drop it off soon there is mini map fog
it's just not in the replay actually
there is a ran and that is this guy in
the middle he's called midboss so mid
boss is a big boss that you kill and
maybe we'll do mid boss in this game
we'll see but let's just see what
happens with the ear now so one thing
that's pretty interesting about this
game it kind of just puts you in a lane
um as far as we can tell the lanes have
just been put together based on MMR it
seems like they're trying to match you
against someone of similar MMR sometimes
you get solo sometimes you get Duo
there's no off Lane safe lane or
anything like that because there's no
designated carry or support role any
hero can be carry or support depending
on how you itemize of course some heroes
are more suited for those things but
it's really down to your own play style
I'm coming baby so we are actually
struggling to contest this earn right
now because they have pushed up so far
do you notice how they are nicely just
like controlling the territory so that
she just gets to drop to earn for
free but on the contrary is what I
mentioned
earlier they are much weaker because one
person is currently handing out the ear
so now we are going into mid boss so
this is midboss or Roshan or Baron if
you come from do or league and it's the
big boss in the middle of the map when
you get midboss to 50% he releases a
loud roar so the enemies will know that
mid boss is about to be killed the scary
part about the mid boss is that not only
are you in a small chamber in the bottom
and there is like a lot of holes in the
topper uh enemies can jump in to It's
Not the Killing blow that depends who
gets the buff after the boss dies a
crystal will come down and whoever
manages to heavy melee the crystal will
give the buff to their entire team and
this buff gives you more health and a
much lower respawn timer and I believe
it also makes your creep strong stronger
for a while so let's see what
happens okay so now it gets to half you
hear the roar we're killing him very
fast though so it's pretty hard to
contest this another crystal is coming
down you can notice how I am standing
far back and this is because I have an
ult where I can pick people up and toss
them away so I'm basically just making
sure that no one is nearby to be able to
uh contest the crystal there's been a
lot of games where a game has been won
or lost because of a crystal steel and
because you have such a low respawn
timer see this is how you know they have
the crystal buff because the crystal
gives you a low respawn timer now we
basically try to fight as much as
possible because even if we trade one
for one we will come back before the
enemy because of the low respawn timer
so now we're just basically trying to
forge Forest fights as soon as possible
there we go see now we got two
kills and these guys are um dead for
quite a
while and en I'm
chasing I'm
chasing vindicta again she she used a
defensive item that makes her
untargetable but yeah basically this
entire game my job has just been to
bully
windix a cow before us here I come I'm
under attack
uh okay so now we are basically in their
base uh this is where it gets scary
because uh these shrines make this huge
eye that floats in air makes it immune
so you have to destroy both shrines
before you can actually destroy uh the
boss and the boss also damages you so
when you're in the enemy base it is a
very favorable uh position for the
enemies The Defenders because they have
a lot of high ground plus a boss that
also helps them do damage and this is
where a lot of teams throw you can see
now the souls Advantage is compl
completely uh balanced out and we all
have the mid boss buff which means that
we will respawn very fast but we still
give them Souls if we die and this is
where a lot of teams they kind of just
like throw by just sending their body in
and being like Oh we have low respawn
tyr we'll just like go die and then come
back but it's not always that beneficial
you got to think a little bit but if
your goal is to trade one for one so
that they have a longer respawn timer
and you can come back before them then
it could be worth it so let's see what
happens
here so vindicta is dead shiv is
dead just Mo and krill left so now we're
going to start taking down the shrines
we only have one Shrine left okay so now
we're taking out both
shrines okay the patron is exposed so
now the patron is
exposed and now we got a big alter three
targets boom oh that's so
satisfying and then there's a crazy
Yamato flying around she's low she's
about to get boa
stomped oh she actually
survived okay so now the patron is
exposed so now we're trying to kill
it okay once the see now this one
dies and this activates the final stage
of the
game now that the patron is exposed it
would actually drop oh here's here's a
indic again she's probably pretty
traumatized oh and I just
dead okay so this is this is what it
looks like for
vindicta now she feels like oh
damn she's she's got an OP okay so they
managed to defend it's not terrible
because you can notice how short the
respawn timers are see I'm already back
right now and they just killed shiv and
now that shiv is dead you can notice
that we can already go back into the
fight and play a 6V five because shiv is
dead for another 40
seconds so this would be a good time to
end the
game and then
well there's vinda again you don't got
what it she popped her defensive I can
do this
day but she's dead once again I can't I
can't stress enough how important it is
if you have a very mobile character like
lash to make sure that you always deal
with the very mobile attackers on their
side like it's so important to
constantly keep vindicta and great
talent out of the game so they can't
just free re because they have so much
verticality and you should constantly
think about how you can stop them from
like just standing safely in the
backline so now there's two people dead
try to run
um get a little slam here on lady guys
she does a health swap on me that's
pretty dangerous but have a lot of Life
steal so I'm
fine um we killed Mo and
krill and now I think it's finally time
to end the game even though I am
currently 200 health and I'm being
chased by oh my God I'm being chased by
Yamato and I have I have 200
Health all right so
now our uh our Calin essentially just Ed
here
we got a big old there and there we
basically won so the final stage of the
game
return the final stage of the game is
essentially just that you're all there
in a pit and that uh exposed Patron does
damage to people nearby um and it's
right next to their spawn so it's their
best chance to defend so yeah that was
my first beginner guide in uh deadlock
I'll be posting a lot of more content
for this game so stay tuned for that
with more in-depth guides and VOD
reviews as well as daily vods on my
second channel so don't forget to like
And subscribe um super excited to
