Transcripts
hello steady Edie here uh Thursday
morning at the 29th of August and I'm
waiting for my Hospital
transport to take me uh to to round
two of my radiation therapy round one
was yesterday and it didn't get quite go
to plan but I'm glad that it's it's it's
finally begun a couple of days ago I put
out a video uh venting my frustration
about why I'm
waiting and later on that that afternoon
I I I I investigated a supposed
appointment that had being made which
which few people knew about and you know
I I I got through various calls and and
eventually got there and and um and
found out that that appointment on on
Wednesday afternoon or Wednesday late
morning it was actually standing I mean
you know I had to make various phone
calls to get through to the right people
so yesterday I I had my first
radiotherapy uh treatment and you know
so I I'll first of
30 so 30 30 radiother therapy
treatments wow that that's that seems
Seems a lot of but he I mean if like
last last you know yesterday and you
know that's five to 10 minutes of act
old treatment but it it had its
hicups I went there and to to the
hospital and you know not knowing what
to expect I done a live stream yesterday
morning and got some great
information you know on the other
channel steady Eddie live and got some
great information because there's a
there a lot of good people who who who
who watch my videos and um you know live
streams and and you know radiotherapy
you know cancer treatment all of that
it's a big issue there's lots of people
want to know know about it so I'll I'll
keep you updated how how it
goes yesterday we you know was um not
without the
teup I I've Had The Mask fitted which
looked like a Halloween mask and I you
know you know laid down on the the uh
the hospital you know bed I think you'll
call it bed's probably not the right
word but um you know the you know you
know prepared them for the
radiotherapy uh Tre
treatment and you know finally they
fitted the mask and you know to you know
that was a tricky bit they've got to get
it
right and um
you know and and then they said they'd
let leave the room you know they'd be
observing me so I got in the right
position on on the on on the bed and
waited for the for for the big event my
first ever radio therapy
session
and you know I could hear machines
moving because I couldn't see through
that mask I could breathe through it I
could hear machines moving
in in place not knowing what to
expect and after after a few minutes I
thought well this is this is painless
this is I can't feel a thing so that's
that can only be a good thing and then
after a few minutes I had a voice over
the loud loud speaker saying we're sorry
about the the delay we're having a few
technical
issues no wonder I couldn't feel the
thing it hadn't actually started yeah
so they came in and they they removed me
from the table and put me in a waiting
room they said sorry about this but
we're having problems with the soft
software it's it's you know it's it's
not playing its part
it's you know it's not taking you know
the right photographs you know it's so I
sat in the waiting
room you know alone this cold
room you know and and and then the the
um assistants there or or whatever you
call it came in about you know 10
minutes later or 15 minutes
later and said to me look whatever what
Happ to call out an engineer the machine
isn't working it's it's a software Ed
issue so rather than having you wait
here all all
day um we may phone a Hospital transport
to take you home
again and I thought oh no I I haven't
gone through all the all of
this you know to to go home empty-handed
I I want this to be my
first you know at my first radio therapy
session he telling me that it's it's
it's a
failure so I sat there and oh my God
Almighty I mean you know we why does not
never go
right so both you know sometime later
the same nurse came in and said
we've got it working we've got it and
that was that was a relief to me because
like I just I just said I don't I don't
want to go all empty-handed I I I want
to be able to say that this was my first
ever radiotherapy
session so you know round round two I I
I went back in there and and they lay me
on the bed and they you know they
struggle once again to to fit the mask
and the mask was very very tight but I
could breathe through it I couldn't see
through it and I actually had the the
first ever radio therapy session the
first of
30 and it was painless it was
painless now I could see I have my eyes
closed um I could see the few flashing
light it only lasted like five to 10
minutes something like that you know
probably closer to five minutes than
than 10 minutes but it was painless and
I I could hear this Miss I was told you
know by someone in the live stream that
you know the these mechanical alarms
that come out and all sounds very very
science
fiction but I was relieved when when um
you know they came back in and said
that's it you know it's over because I
didn't feel the
thing and
um and okay and that was it my I spent
an eternity waiting for the hospital
transport I mean it was door to door it
was it was ours for what for the natural
treatment that that was that was no
longer than you know five to 10 minutes
but I'm able to say now that I've had my
first radio therapy I have the the
timetable over the next six weeks I
think I mean it's about a week into
October you know six weeks of six weeks
of going there Mondays and
Friday and having this this radio I I I
I don't know what to make of it up to
now I can't can't claim it I haven't had
one session one down 29 too I can't
claim to be an expert but that's it I've
tested the water I've I've um I've had
my first radio therapy session and today
I'm on me way way for you know the
second ra radio therapy session so I I I
can't comment on it up to now all is I
know is that I I don't have any
headaches and as for appetite oh I came
home and my my it appears the guy's
looking after me here a lovely big
chicken dinner so I haven't lost my
appetize I haven't lost my appetize i i
i i i defiled a big meal last
night yesterday afternoon when I when I
came back um you know
so I haven't lost my appeti and I slept
well and and I'm functioning as normal I
no side effects now now I know there's
the demom and Gloom merchants in the
chat who who say ah but you you won't
feel any pain now at the beginning it's
towards the end of the treatment that's
when that's when you'll be screaming
with pain oh you're always going to get
a few I I'll I'll I'll keep you updated
if anyone's planning on radio
therapy then I'll tell you you know how
it goes from from my perspective and I'm
just glad that it's under under way I
know I I ranted and RAV you the way
because I felt that day you know
conspiracy theories they were put me to
the back of the queue but it's it's
there's a lack of communication with the
you know with these people um because
like people I was phoning up didn't know
anything about that appointment and I I
kind of you know after after after a
week or so I was kind of thinking they'd
forgotten about
me but but yeah you know I'll I'll keep
you posted six weeks
30 30 of those I've had one another 29
visits to the hospital to have a radio
session um well I can't comment anymore
I'll I'll tell you how it goes on not
every day not every day you don't need
to know that but if anyone you know
wants a perspective and someone's
actually having radio therapy then I'll
I'll I'll tell you you know what it's
like from my experiences so anyway
thanks for watching my Hospital
transport hopefully will be here soon
it's uh it's it's number two of of 30 to
today
and I'll keep you posted okay thank you
have a have a good day everyone
