what's up guys and welcome back to Tech
PL I plucked some plants out of the Dead
Zone got them for really cheap however
we got to quarantine them and I have
found the coolest thing to quarantine
plants with it was at Costco I love it
it's a shoe box let's check it out all
right this video is going to be twofold
I'm going to show you this sweet
quarantine container that you can pick
up I think it's really awesome and you
get four of them but that's in the
second half I'm going to show you some
new plants I picked up usually I'm only
buying plants from The Bargain Bin
except for I did splurge on one which I
will show you all right this first is
filodendron torum although you can
hardly tell by how it looks cuz it's
pretty much dead and when I say Bargain
Bin it's really like the dead end for
all these plants the store I shop at as
their plants like just die from their
care they throw them in this one section
for a discounted price and honestly it's
really not that discounted not enough
for how dead these plants are but I like
taking a chance now the first thing I do
when I get these guys that are off a
death row is I usually repot them cuz
it's like they've been sitting and just
rotting wet soil for way too long most
of these plants are coming out of
Florida and whatnot so it's just just a
lot of Pete Moss because down there
things dry out a lot quicker cuz it's a
lot hotter but here in my basement pure
Pete is just not good looking at the
root ball it's not horribly bad it feels
pretty decent nothing feels too rotted
but this thing has been overwatered for
a long time however there is still some
growth on here that is starting so I'm
not too concerned in my opinion most
philodendron are pretty bomb proof so
I'm just going to pop this up with some
perlite and it should be fine over time
next up is a plant that I got from the
dead section again we got this for only
six bucks it used to be 24 so a pretty
sweet deal it's kind of dead looking but
again fendron just don't die at least
not for me this one does say It's a
pasta zum but it is not this is for sure
panii I have both of the plants and this
one looks just like my panii I already
have some but you got to love more for
only six bucks now again you can see as
I repot this it's all just Pete Moss and
again it works great in Florida but not
so good in my basement so we're just
going to mix a little bit of perite in
there just so it doesn't soak up so much
water and there's some air that can get
down in there to the roots this one is a
crawler so I'm trying to position this
in the pot so it has room to move across
the pot however just the way it is it's
not very easy so I will probably have to
repot this one later on but this should
be good enough Roots feel all right so
I'm not too worried about it all right
this next one I did pay full price
however full price on this one was
absolutely nothing I think this was
about $12 and this is a filodendron
mamei I can't I'm not sure if I'm
pronouncing it properly but I've always
wanted this one it's very similar to PL
Mani except for it's much more rounder
but it still has that like slight
silvery variegated looking leaves on
there I'm not really sure if it's
variegation but it's just a pattern and
it's an absolutely beautiful plant
however it always used to be like 30
around 30 bucks 30 40 bucks and I never
want to pay full price for it cuz again
I've already got palmani and I consider
them pretty similar but for 12 bucks I
had to scoop this one up since this one
was not in the dead section it's
actually doing quite well although it
did have a lot of spidermite damage on
all the leaves um this place that I
usually buy these plants from usually
have like thrip spidermites they pretty
much have everything on their plants so
I'm always uh aware of that as I bring
these things home but this one is also a
crawler just like the plani so I am
positioning this in one side of the pot
hopefully giving it some room to crawl
along the surface and get bigger and
bigger lastly I picked up this pink
zonum for about five bucks this one
wasn't in the dead section that's why it
looks perfectly fine this was just
sitting around for a little too long and
I guess they're closing it out one thing
I've learned about plants in the last
four years is always wait and watch
eventually the plant prices always come
down so there's no point in paying a lot
of money as long as you have patience so
I've been wanting this one for a while
cuz I just think it's pretty and it was
nice to pick it up for a cheap price The
Roots look fantastic on this one again
because it wasn't uh in the dead section
but it was heavily Pete based so I did
add some perlite now I did mention
earlier that a lot of these plants had
pests or have pests usually when I buy
plants from this one Nursery it there's
almost one out of every like five plants
has either thrips spidermites or M bugs
so I really should quarantine them
because this is how they've been gaining
reinforcements in the great bug war for
the past couple years but now that I
found this really cool product I'm going
to try and use them to sort of create a
little quarantine bin now you could just
use a large clear been but these were
really cool and they were on sale at
Costco so I wanted to give them a try
these are actually just shoe boxes but
the cool thing is you get a nice little
four pack I do really love the
dimensions of this thing it's rather
large and I do like that they're sort of
um I can stole them away really easily
if I'm not using them so it's not like
they're taking up a bunch of space like
a bin wood and they are stackable and
they just they have a a lot of cool
different orientations that you could
set them up in now assembly was a little
strange at first but then I realized the
arrows should be pointing at each other
and once I came to that conclusion it
went together pretty darn well and it is
pretty solid surprisingly the ones like
on display at Costco it's like whoever
built them didn't do a great job cuz
they felt a little more flimsy but these
actually feel pretty darn solid so I was
glad to see that they're much stronger
than I expected but yeah because they
have two doors you have a little bit of
a leeway on how you set this thing up it
can go vertically sideways I mean
there's a few like cool ways you can set
this up I like that there's options
there is two doors which is pretty cool
I almost want to set one of these up as
like a small terrarium and like really
like fill it out with stuff and build it
out just cuz I like the clear acrylic
look to it and it just feels fun I don't
know what it is but it's like a cheap uh
I guess clear box I think this would be
great for like a spider enclosure or
some sort of insect enclosure you would
probably have to silicone the gaps if
you're going to put a lot of water in
there but overall I think these are
really cool and unique and a great way
to sort of build out little terrariums
or spider cages or really anything for
now since I'm I have only one out of
four set up I'm going to use this one as
just a way to quarantine these new
plants and hopefully I can watch them
for pest over the next few weeks and see
if they come out or if they did die from
my initial spray but I have another
three which I do want to turn into a
terrarium or something neat so you'll
have to stay tuned for that well guys I
hope you enjoyed this I don't know if
it's still at Costco it's only been a
couple days since I filmed this they
were on sale which is always the best
time to pick stuff like this up however
there might be an Amazon link if I can
find one in the description we'll see
but I really do like these they go
together quite securely and I almost
want to turn these into little
terrariums or something else I know it's
nice for a little quarantine box but you
get four in this pack at least the pack
that I purchased so I've got a lot of
fun ideas I want to experiment with this
and maybe you'll see future videos with
those where I build them out I don't
know I might even make them an isopod
thing who knows they got a lot of
potential for any sort of cool Little
Critters and I just think they're really
cool and I love the little magnet things
and just I don't know they're fun well I
hope you guys enjoyed that video and as
always May plants go strong and healthy
keep experimenting and I'll see you next
time
