okay so today's video we'll be taking a
look at the Liang Li 216 in White argb
Version as you can see here and I've
been using this as my daily driver for
about a week or so now and I thought I'd
give you guys a little bit of a wrap up
and uh kind of informative overview of
the case now we went through and did the
unboxing which you're more than welcome
to check out first of all that'll be
linked somewhere in the video
description or up here at wherever it is
these days
and you can check out my initial
Impressions but now after doing a full
build in here I can give you a little
bit more in depth the build that you've
got in here is a Intel I9 13900k so
plenty of heat coming from that one
we've also got a Radeon RX 6900 XT so
again plenty of heat from that and as
you can see from some of the b-roll and
probably from here you can see we've got
it vertically mounted which I figured
actually makes this actually pop a
little bit more I think it looks very
nice the triple fan version looks
absolutely amazing
okay let me know what you think in the
comments section if you're not
particularly into RGB in this case might
not be the one for you but certainly if
you are I think it offers a lot of
things you can do in terms of lighting
and actually making the build look
pretty spectacular one of the first
things you're probably going to notice
and if I'm completely silent you can
possibly hear it and that is the noise
of the fans
there is a few pros and cons with the
fan set up as standard so Leanna Lee
have put in their custom made 160 mil
fans which are addressed by RGB and
actually they've done a fantastic job of
them the shride that goes around them is
excellent for reducing things like
turbulence so if you look from the
inside you can see there's like a
plastic wedge in between the fans so you
don't get any of that kind of weird
turbulence of airbn sucked in or
basically recirculine air so that works
really well the fans themselves the
motors do seem to have a little bit of a
kind of not so much a tick but more of
like an aggressive sound so when the
fans are ramped up you do hear some
motor noise and also due to the fact
that it's just moving an absolute ton of
air you do hear airflow so if you do
want a completely silent PC and you are
going to be using relatively uh hard to
cool components then you may want to
think about the cooling situation now
obviously you can go into your
motherboard's control setup and actually
reduce the speed of the fans obviously
that is going to reduce the cooling
potential and all that kind of stuff but
something which I think a lot of people
if you're potentially looking at this
and you're seeing pictures online you're
looking and thinking wow that looks
amazing but unfortunately the the same
profile isn't particularly good and I
would certainly suggest if you are
thinking of going this route and you're
going to have some components which are
pretty hard to cool you might want to
swap out the fans for 120s in general
120 mil fans do tend to have a better
signature overall okay let me know what
you think about that in the comments
section something which this case does
really well is filtration the front mesh
is the only filtration actually on the
front there isn't a mesh filter behind
it or anything so it does a good job
it's quite a fine mesh and it's spaced
out really nicely from the fans
themselves and I have found on a morning
because we have cats Etc and uh there's
the usual debris that you get inside of
most houses especially when you've got
things like a wood burner all that kind
of stuff then you do get a lot of dust
but I've found pretty much every morning
just go like that that in the front and
it basically removes all the dust and
inside is basically perfect doesn't seem
to be a great deal of thus getting
actually inside so most of it is being
stopped by this front panel
with the front panel off you can see
inside a little bit better so again this
is the Sarang I was referring to the
fans so most fans traditionally kind of
stop at the outer ring whereas they've
added on a little bit of height top and
bottom to kind of prevent some of the
contributes that kind of stuff and I
think they look really good there has
been some discussion at least I've seen
from a separate control panel you can
get that you can control the inner ring
and the outer ring separately I'm not
entirely sure how that works it doesn't
appear to be something which you can do
basically there's a kind of random thing
depending on what the rest is doing but
overall I think the fans themselves in
terms of looks look absolutely amazing
and from some certain angles with the
mesh on the front it gives a really nice
overglow removing the fans on the whole
front assembly is very easily as we saw
from the teardown so just six screws to
the top two at the bottom two in the
middle and you can pull this panel out
to make any adjustments that you need to
something which I wasn't overly Keen of
in terms of the i o so the top mounted i
o isn't a good position for me because
generally the PC is a little bit lower
down you can if you want to move it from
here to the side panel you can also get
an additional side panel which gives you
more RGB control over the fans and also
a couple of extra USB type A ports so
that might be something you're
interested in or potentially move it if
that suits something which I don't like
is the fact that we do have a combo
headset made Jack I'm not a big fan of
those I would much prefer to have seen a
separate headset microphone Jack so you
can split the two should you need to
quite often I find myself plugging in
headphones without a microphone and yeah
this is one of these things it's a
little bit annoying so that was
something I would have liked to have
seen different now looking from the side
you can see I think the build is
actually turned out very nice indeed the
graphics card really does fill out what
is going on inside there even a smaller
card actually doesn't look too bad in
there I think this is pretty much
perfect there aren't many cards which
are much longer than this particular MSI
one so I think it's done a pretty good
job and the glass itself being
completely clear as you can see I think
uh lets you see inside the components
very nicely there's a few things which
I'd have liked to have changed
internally mostly down to wiring but one
of the key things if you are going with
a vertical mind is the fact that in the
instructions it's very
um
oh it's unhelpful it doesn't tell you
what you actually need to use or where
you need to put the vertical mounting
bracket on the bottom there are two
pillars which stand up it turns out the
ones that are in the box is the longest
of the two there are multiple options in
there especially because you've got
extra motherboard pillars which
basically are exactly the same so if you
are building in this and you're planning
on doing vertical GPU installation this
doesn't actually come with a vertical
GPU cable so you will need to buy one of
those separately I picked one up very
cheaply off Amazon from easy DIY and it
cost me about 30 pounds which is a lot
of money for what it is but it seems to
do a very good job and performance has
been absolutely great I find actually
with this particular card because of it
is quite a chunky Beast having it
vertically mounted actually obviously
eliminates sag altogether because you
don't have that kind of overhang and it
is very well supported even though the
base is perforated as we said earlier on
in the video
taking the slow panel off and the front
panel is very easy so it just pops off
after you undo the screw and with it
removed you can see inside a little bit
better something which is an absolute
pain in the ass and has been done badly
in my opinion is if you are vertically
mounting your GPU actually getting
screws into the graphic score to hold it
in place is nion impossible they are
very deep set and because of the fact
that it is right up against the back you
can't get a screwdriver in there unless
you remove your fan and even then you're
still going to need a relatively small
screwdriver to get in there so in my
opinion that is something which has been
done particularly badly and as it stands
at the moment I've only got one screw
holding in the graphics card and because
I can't really access it particularly
well the screw isn't even fully
tightened so there is a very small
amount of Wiggle on there which I'm not
overly happy with but having said that
I've moved it around from its usual
location to here and vice versa and it
hasn't caused any problems but here's
something which I feel they could have
done much better in terms of the layout
internally as well I think they've done
a pretty decent job this is currently
set up in what they call the kind of
water cooling mode so the motherboard is
in a lower position
allegedly giving you more room up the
top but with the radiator installed up
here it's almost impossible to get to
the EPS connector so potentially you
will need to undo the screws on the side
and pull this panel out when you're
doing any of those connections which is
a little bit of a pain but it is
workable it's not the end of the world
but I would like to have seen a little
bit more height possibly in the case
just to gain a little bit more access
there make things a little bit easier
the same applies for things like the CPU
fan header Etc because they're all
generally mounted at the top it's quite
a squeeze to get into them something
else which is not really relevant to the
case itself but something which I am
going to change is the actual
connections so we've got eight pin
connections going into the graphics card
there's three of them and because they
are going outward it's a little bit
untidy in this area here so you can
actually buy 180 degree adapters so you
plug them in on the 8 Pin and then you
plug your cables in they kind of slot in
in behind which will reduce some of the
airflow to the backside of the card
which isn't entirely necessary but just
something to be wary of those you can
pick up for about 10 pounds for a set of
three so that's a pretty good to do also
ugly Bob did send us over a couple
already but there was only one eight pin
one so we're gonna have to buy a few
more of those but that's quite an easy
thing to do something else I'm not
overly keen on but it isn't the end of
the world is the fact that at the back
there we've only got the single 140 mil
fan which isn't addressable RGB which in
terms of the price for this currently
it's somewhere just over 100 pounds here
in the UK I don't think it's a totally
unforgivable it would have been nice to
have had possibly the option of maybe
paying another 10 pounds and having an
adjustable RGB one which matches the
front two because they are quite unique
looking so actually getting another fan
to kind of matching or blend in might be
a little bit uh tricky again if you're
planning to replace the fans entirely
then it isn't a problem
when it comes to cooling if you're
putting a 240 mil Radiator in there
there is a blanking plate which goes at
the front which if I tilt this backslide
you should be able to see and I've also
filmed on b-roll so you can see it so
that actually does help quite a bit
because it stops air escaping so you've
got your cold air coming in from the
front which is being pushed through and
then basically the first point of exit
is going to be through the radiator so
this keeping things nice and cool again
this is a Intel I9 3900k with only a 240
mil AIO which generally isn't quite
enough but with a little bit of
undervolting and setting your TDP limits
Etc and decent airflow from the k-switch
this certainly does have it's managing
to keep it under control quite nicely
the blanking plate itself I think is an
excellent inclusion and obviously if you
are going for a 240 Leo or just mounting
two fans in the top then it's definitely
worth installing it although you will
find when you install it the screws
which actually hold it in place do need
to be quite aggressive so if you think
they're tightened they're not just keep
on tightening until you hit a hard wall
otherwise you will find that it's a
little bit loose and potentially
I did do it I was just checking to make
sure I actually did re-tighten the
screws because they do require an
extreme amount of force to make it tight
and to stop it vibrating something else
which was a slight niggle for me
um which possibly isn't going to affect
everybody for those of you that saw me
do the unboxing in the live stream and
potentially from the video you'll notice
there was a very slight defect in the
painting in this area it's not
particularly evident on camera here you
can just about make it out there where
some of the paint appears to have either
rubbed off or has not been quite done
thick enough so it is a slightly
different color there again if it was
you buying it from a shop brand new such
as overclockers Etc then it's a strong
chance that isn't going to be a problem
for you but if you have got this case do
check out your soy panel and let me know
is yours got the same thing is it
something which has happened in
manufacture which affects all of them or
is it just down to this particular model
do let me know something else as well
actually having this section here being
removable is actually pretty handy for
more reasons than not because actually
getting to some of the cables can be a
little bit tricky because the actual
depth here isn't huge when you've got
your power supply in there it is
actually quite tight so sometimes you
might not be able to access things quite
as easy and being able to take this
section out and get in there and kind of
tweak and mess around with things is
quite a valuable thing in my opinion
from the back not a great deal to report
on everything is pretty much fine the
two screws at the top for removing the
top panel very handy indeed especially
if you need to do any maintenance to
your radiators Etc and also again for
getting to the EPS connector which can
be slightly trouble some the rear
section here where they have the
vertical mounting so at the moment this
is in the vertical mounting option you
will find depending on where you mount
your graphics card I've tried to mount
it kind of so it's almost in the middle
it's uh it's the furthest forward it can
go
do better than mine because your
connections on the back for HDMI and
your display ports Etc potentially might
be slightly blocked there because it
does kind of tuck in behind this last
section here so you there are three
positions you can do it so you can move
it back a little bit more but then it
does get quite close to the motherboard
so if you do have to do anything with
connections such as your front USBS HD
audio that kind of stuff it's almost
impossible to get to but I find with it
being pulled out as far as it can at
least you've got a bit of a fighting
chance of getting to them again from the
back not really much else to report on
apart from the distinct lack of
addressable RGB from this fan on the
back
moving around to the back of the case so
here is absolutely fine there's one or
two things which potentially could be
issues for you depending on your power
supply and things like that I do find
that the gap between the bottom here
especially with the HD audio cable
connected is very tight so you will find
yourself potentially moving the drive
base slotting the power supply in from
the front here and then bringing it back
in would have been nice to have a
separate Drive bracket on the back so
you can just slot it in from the back
that was a pain that really was that is
way too close obviously if you're not
connecting up your HD audio or any other
Connections in this area then you'll be
fine but certainly put your power supply
in first there's my uh my recommendation
then put the cables through after I made
that mistake hopefully you win something
else which is worth bearing in mind is
on the back here so you've got this
panel which covers up the back of the
CPU area
with our particular cooler there is an
additional backplate and it is extremely
close to this section here so
potentially depending on your
motherboard and the kind of tolerances
you may actually find you having to
remove your motherboard from the case to
change coolers or do modifications Etc
this one does come extremely close as
you've probably seen for some close-ups
I did a little bit earlier
talking of close as well on the back if
you're putting in your EPS connector
which runs up nicely through these
little plastic grippers or cable
management channels which actually do
work very well I haven't used I don't
think I used any cable ties at all
actually on here it's all tucked in so
that is definitely good and obviously
the velcro straps certainly help with
that this isn't the neatest it could
possibly be but it's uh it's pretty okay
this I think could have been moved
somewhere else I.E lower would been
great
um it's a bit of a pain because it's
actually mounted onto kind of
motherboard pillars so moving it isn't
particularly easy but you do find it
actually trying to plug things into this
because of how high it is you actually
Bend some of the pins especially
addressable RGB ones because those are
always a pain in the backside so I have
actually bent some of the pins on there
already trying to get the cables in
because the clearance at the top just
isn't quite enough if this would have
been a little bit lower would have been
no problem at all or potentially with it
being kind of in this section at the
front where there's not really a great
deal going on I think that would have
been a simpler and easier solution to
use going forward
especially if those were kind of facing
that way would have given you a lot of
room to get into and also putting the
EPS cable through there especially when
you've got all your RGB cables in the
way can be a little bit problematic but
it isn't something that you can't
overcome just obviously do bear in mind
and ideally like I said try and do your
power supply mountings and cables first
well if you possibly can other than that
in the back I think they've done a
pretty good job it's nicely spaced out
you've got a decent amount of depth
there so if you're mounting drives or
maybe an RGB controller on here which I
potentially might do I might remove this
one and actually put in a dedicated
controller at some point and if I do a
mount on there just to give me a bit
more room at the top for swapping out
EPS cables and other cables as I'm
testing other components in this rig so
there you go overall very nice case to
work in a few little quirks which you
might want to pay attention to and there
might be some deal breakers I don't know
fan wise you probably will want to keep
these under kind of 60 of their full
speed otherwise they are going to get
quite noisy there is yeah there is just
a sound of airflow which is one of those
things it's an airflow orientated case
you've got 160 mil fans so they are
moving a lot of air and there's not
really a great deal you can do to make
those quieter apart from like I said if
you want to swapping out the fans which
then potentially kind of spoils the
whole look of it which I think in terms
of case design I think they've actually
nailed it and for the current asking
price about 115 pounds at the moment
from overclockers.com here in the UK
I don't think there's much else on the
market which competes with it in terms
of overall what you can do the
flexibility the options of having 360
rad in the top or the front
other things which you can change out
the vertical mounting Etc yeah I think
they've done a fantastic job and I'll be
honest I was a little bit hesitant but I
am actually genuinely quite pleased with
this and I'm pretty sure it's going to
stay as my daily driver for my video
editing PC for the foreseeable that is
until something comes along which is
better which is pretty much always the
case speaking of cases this has been the
Liang Li 216 in white argb hopefully
you've enjoyed this video and it's given

planning on a build or maybe upgrading
