last year I finished my dual studies in

computer science and have been working

full-time in the same partner company

since then I mentioned this fact in the

recent video that I posted about my

complete journey in Germany from

learning German to a full-time Tech job

and since then I have been getting

multiple comments and insta DMS from you

guys asking me more about dual studies

in Germany so here it is in this video

you will get everything that you need to

know about dual studies requirements

application process blogged account and

how you can get into one also there are

some real risks associated with dual

studies that you need to be aware of and

take seriously and I will talk about

them as well this video will be divided

into following six parts and if you are

not aware what dual studies is yet then

you can also check out this video that I

have made explaining what it is

advantages disadvantages and why I chose

it over the Technical University of

Munich so let's start straight away with

the requirements so the most important

thing to know about dual studies before

you spend any time and money are the

requirements before you apply in any

program please make sure that you are

fulfilling all these requirements and

are not just bombarding the companies

with the applications that are not even

eligible let's talk about The Bachelors

first we'll come to Masters after that

so here are the most basic requirements

to do bachelors's anywhere in Germany

first you will need to have a high

school graduation that is accepted and

is valid in Germany if you have done

your high school from somewhere in Asia

South America or Africa you generally

need to do student colleague which is

equivalent to the German High School

level exam but if you have done your

schooling from an international board

like Cambridge or something then you do

not need Student colleague you can apply

in the universities directly also

another alternative is to do one year of

Bachelor study somewhere else in your

home country in some University and

start from the University in Germany

direct after that that way also you

avoid doing studient colleague secondly

you need C1 level of German before you

can start studying in Germany if you are

doing student colleag you just need B2

and C1 will be included in your exams

that you write after that but if you are

applying directly after International

board or first year of studies or

something then you need C1 level of

German directly same for the Masters you

need C1 level of German and the third

requirement are high grades in your high

school graduation exam and or the

student colleague exam and depending on

which company you are applying to the

grades that are required can be

different but especially in mathematics

your grad should be high enough I would

say intuitively it should be at least

80% if it's below that then you have not

a very good chance of making it at least

you have a disadvantage but if you have

80% or above then generally your marks

would be good enough to then consider

your other things like it would still

not guarantee you an admission or an

acceptance but then the marks would not

be a problem and on the other hand if

your marks are not good enough you need

to be good enough in the other things by

a lot only then you will have a chance

but yeah there can still be smaller

companies who have lower criterias for

admissions because their programs are

not that popular so you still get a shot

there if your marks and the other

profile is not the topmost so these are

the basic criterias that you need to

meet so please make sure that you

fulfill them before applying but meeting

these criterias will also not be enough

to ensure an acceptance so there are

other things that you can show or the

qualities that you can have that will

higher your chances of getting a

positive answer from one of the

companies that you apply in and I will

talk about them later in the video and

although you can theoretically already

apply from your home country if you

already fulfill the language criteria

but if you are accepted you need to be

present in Germany with the home and all

before you start studying because you

are not allowed to start your study

online and if you cannot make it in time

your contract with the company will be

terminated and you will likely be

exterminated by the university as well

and then there also comes this question

about blogged account if you need it so

if you are applying from your home

country and you get the contract

straight away which is kind of very

difficult I would say like you have much

better chances if you are in Germany but

you can still get it if you are

extraordinary and if you did everything

very timely and if you do that if you

have a contract then I think you don't

need blogged account you can straight

away apply for the Visa with your

contract and you can already show your

monthly income with that but normally

it's highly likely that you are coming

to Germany first to learn German which

is in general much more efficient than

learning in your home country and I can

make make a separate video on that

someday but generally if you are already

in Germany then you already need a

blogged account to come into Germany but

after you get a contract with the

company then you don't need blogged

account anymore so yeah during your dual

studies you don't need blogged account

but there's still a good chance that you

will first need to come to Germany

before you can get the contract and for

that you will still need the blogged

account and if you are really good and

get the contract directly from your home

country then that's for the best I think

but the chances for that are low as I

said so keep everything in mind and plan

accordingly now let's also talk about

the Dual studies for master's degree

when it comes to dual studies for

Masters the choices are much more

limited as not many companies offer it

and there are not many programs in

general like for Bachelors I surely find

dual studies a better option as compared

to studying in a normal university but

for Masters the choice is not that clear

to me and I personally would not go for

a dual program in Masters but that's

your personal choice so I'm here just to

provide you with all the information so

you can make the choice more consciously

so let's look at the requirements now

first like Bachelors you need also C1

level of German secondly you also need

to have a bachelor's degree that is

recognized in Germany and is accepted

third you need to have good enough

grades so pretty similar to the

bachelors's also the selection criteria

and application process will be very

similar to bachelors and I will come to

them shortly and explain in detail but

before that I also want to quickly

it's basically like applying in any

normal full-time job you need to make a

CV a motivation letter collect all the

documents like if you have a

certification or something and then

apply to any open dual studies program

and I recommend you to apply in a lot of

them as many as you can and to find the

positions you can either go to

individual websites or the company find

the open programs in LinkedIn or use

this website called V visor that I will

link below in the description I used to

use this website myself and there are

many dual studies programs that are

listed on this website so you can check

it out how early you need to apply also

comes down to which company it is

generally it can range from 1 year prior

to the start of studies to also a couple

of months prior to the start of studies

the more popular the program is likely

they will also close CL the applications

earlier but I recommend you to apply as

soon as you fulfill the criterias you

can also apply during the time you are

in student colleague or in your high

school final year but it is still

important to fulfill the German level

criteria before you apply otherwise you

don't stand much chance in the

interviews or even getting called for

the interviews so while sending the

documents you need to make sure you

write a CV as good as you can adjust the

motivation letter to the particular post

that you're applying for and they both

should include all all the important

information on you but only the relevant

ones if you need a video on making a

good CV and motivation letters write

down in the comments below and I can

make a separate video on that after you

have sent the application the company

will review it and if they find it

impressive they will call you for an

interview so you need to be patient at

that step and as I said you need to

apply in as many companies as you can

because there's a good chance that 80 to

90% of the companies won't even invite

you for an interview if you are getting

10 to 20% of positive response then it's

good enough generally you will also not

get that much the selection process can

also depend on which company it is but

generally it will involve writing an

exam to test your mathematical

analytical and German knowledge and at

least one interview there can also be

multiple interviews or group discussions

to find out how good your communication

skills is and how well you can present

but at least one interview will be there

after the whole process if you get

selected by the company you also get the

admission from the University you do not

need to apply it separately in the most

cases and even if you do the company

will instruct you properly so you do not

need to worry about it just focus on

applying in the company and the rest

will carry on if you are accepted so now

and how you can maximize your chances of

nailing this process in the selection

process you need to demonstrate to them

your current skills and your future

potential they need to know that you are

capable of passing the degree

successfully and have the potential to

be a valuable future employee to the

company you can demonstrate your current

competence by many ways getting good

grades is of course one of them as I

talked before having good communication

skills to express your ideas having

practical skills and experiences to show

your interest and also some excellence

in some extracurricular activities like

sports and art is also seen as very

positive these things are not a must but

still a really good to have apart from

that if you don't feel that you have

anything to show your current competence

you can still impress them by your

genuine interest and your future

potential you need to show a willingness

to learn anything and an enthusiasm to

facing and overcoming challenges these

things will be seen as a huge plus but

the most important part there is to

still be authentic and answer the

questions as honestly as you can if you

don't know anything it's better to say

that you don't but would be happy to

learn in the future rather than saying

that you do and then make a fool out of

yourself when they ask anything related

to that it's fine not knowing something

especially if you are applying for

Bachelors you are not even a student yet

so they expect you to be inexperienced

and they are ready to invest huge amount

of money in you to make you competent

but they still prefer hiring someone who

is honest and genuine and has future

potential to grow to prepare for the

interview I would suggest you to

research as much as you can about the

company what products they make their

competitors Etc you also need to be

prepared to answer questions to whatever

you have written in your CV I hope you

do not fake it a lot because an

experienced interview will spot that

from a mile away so make sure that you

are well prepared for the interview and

can make a good impression so so now

let's talk about the last and the most

important point the risks associated

with dual studies there can be three

major risks associated with dual studies

you need to understand them carefully

before you apply first let's say you

applied in multiple companies and you

got a few interview calls as well you

did your best as much as you can but

there's still a good chance that you

didn't get any positive response after

your interview and that's normal maybe

you were not able to impress them with

your qualities or they just didn't see

it so it can happen so you need to be

prepared with a backup plan and not just

go all in with dual studies because it

doesn't give you aurity the second risk

is that there are some companies that

can be harmful to your career like they

don't really want to invest in you and

develop you they just want you as a

cheap employee so they can make you do

mundane tasks and they will likely also

not hire you after your studies and this

is of course Very damaging to your

career since you didn't even learn any

practical skills in your study and if

they don't hire you then it's not very

high chance that you get another great

job after that so you need to make sure

that the company you are going to start

your studies with is a good company and

they want to invest in you and make you

grow and not just make use of you so for

that you will need to ask some counter

remember the interview is not just for

you to evaluate you but you are also

evaluating the company to see if you are

a good fit and what questions you can

exactly ask and what signs to look for

studies the third risk is that passing

all the exams and completing the degree

is not very easy in dual studies

especially for international students

there are even many German students that

end up failing some exams or quit in the

between and it's even more common for

international students unlike a normal

University degree you don't get much

chances in a dual study program if you

fail the exams a couple of times you

will likely be exm matriculated and also

your contract with the company will be

terminated I have also talked about it
