we're going to be discussing a secret

Sorting Hat strategy that if employed

correctly allows any student to be

sorted into Gryffindor let's dive into

it the Sorting Hat a magical artifact at

Hogwart School of Witchcraft and

Wizardry has the essential task of

assigning new students to one of the

four houses Gryffindor Hufflepuff

Ravenclaw or cin the Hat was created

when godrick Gryffindor founder of

Gryffindor pulled his completely regular

hat off of his head and made the

suggestion to the other Founders that

using their Collective magic they

enchant the hat and turn it into a

sentient being the purpose of this was

simple they wanted to leave something

behind that could carry on their house

legacies long after their deaths with so

much emphasis on how the Sorting

selection impacts the young witches and

wizards it could be quite easy to take

for granted how the Sorting Hat makes

these decisions that is it's not

surprising that we never hear Harry or

others question what the Hat's process

is for selecting each pupil's house

which serves as their home for the

remainder of their time at Hogwarts

after all it would be easy enough to

believe that this process simply just

happens the hat is placed at top each

new student's head and it just knows

where to sort each of them sometimes the

Hat announces a pupil's destined house

without barely touching the hair on

their ahead other times minutes go by

before it shares where a student should

be placed there's even a name for the

it's much more than simple mind reading

as a legitiment is able to peer into

another's head bring forth memories and

assess the content of a mind as soon as

the hat is placed on your head there's

nothing it won't know about you we see

this clearly demonstrated when the

Sorting Hat is placed upon Harry's head

when he first arrives at Hogwarts in the

philosopher stone saying to Harry you

could be great you know it's all here in

your head and sutherin will help you on

the way to Greatness no doubt about that

no well if you're sure better be

Gryffindor in this instance the hat is

able to look around inside of Harry's

mind using what it finds to deduce which

houses would be a good fit for him

sutherin or Gryffindor the idea here is

that if the Hat knows what kind of a

person a wit or wizard will likely grow

up to be then it can swiftly and

correctly identify their the defining

qualities and place them in the most

suitable house by but I think there are

some inconsistencies with how the

Sorting Hat actually works Harry sorting

seemed like a total tossup the Hat sense

traits associated with both Gryffindor

and sutherin and it even looked like the

Hat preferred sutherin for Harry yet

your head and sutherin will help you on

end up getting into Gryffindor like she

had wanted well the Sorting Hat did

seriously consider putting me in

Ravenclaw during my sorting said hmane

brightly but it decided on Gryffindor in

the end Ron and Neville expressed

concerns about being sorted into

Gryffindor and not living up to The

house's expectations Parry only confided

in Dumbledore as an adult while hmane

shared her choice with a small group of

friends during her fifth year it is

highly likely that many others made

their decision but kept it a secret when

the Gryffindor students first arrived

they didn't immediately exhibit the

typical traits associated with the house

Neville appeared fearful jinny seemed

shy and submissive and none of them

displayed initial bravery as prominently

as students from other houses such as

the clear arrogance and cunning of

Malfoy or the evident cleverness of Luna

interestingly numerous Gryffindor seemed

better suited for other houses herione

mcgonagal and Dumbledore possessed

exceptional intelligence Percy displayed

great ambition and Neville and Ron were

both loyal and hardworking so here's

what I think the Sorting Hat will play

you in Gryffindor if you're brave enough

to choose Gryffindor as an option

godrick Gryffindor intentionally

designed the Sorting Hat to never simply

select Gryffindor and unlike other

houses we rarely witness the Hat

instantly assigning students to

Gryffindor the Hat's criteria do not

solely focus on existing bravery but

rather on the willingness to choose

bravery those who aspire to be brave can

embody courage and upon receiving

validation from the Hat they begin to

embrace that quality in essence by

demonstrating The Bravery to make that

choice you allow yourself to be chosen

by the hat for Gryffindor when Harry

tried on the hat it mentioned all of the

houses as options placing an emphasis on

sutherin in particular Harry ended up

getting into Gryffindor because he was

brave enough to ask he may not have

specifically said Gryffindor but he did

rule out sutherin and didn't want either

other house now onto the one possible

exception Neville if the Hat places you

into Gryffindor because you were Brave

enough to choose Gryffindor why would

Neville who wanted to be placed in

Hufflepuff end up in Gryffindor in

Neville's case the Hat was determined to

place him in Gryffindor Neville

intimidated by that House's reputation

for bravery requested a place in

Hufflepuff their silent wrangling

resulted in Triumph for the Hat here's

my take on this Neville was a near hat

stool and hat stools are only said to

occur every 50 years or so because of

this it becomes pretty clear that

Neville is a bit of an exception to the

Rule and given how long the Sorting Hat

deliberated on its choice for Neville

it's likely that Neville genuinely did

exhibit traits associated with both

houses in fact Neville may have

genuinely been a 50-50 candidate for

both Gryffindor and Hufflepuff this

Neville was any similar boat although he

was picked for Gryffindor Neville often

displayed traits of a Hufflepuff

especially with his endless kindness he

even asked the Sorting Hat to consider

what I think happened Neville showed

bravery by resisting an authority figure

like the Sorting Hat even though he was

wearing an ancient artifact capable of

infiltrating the layers of his mind he

stayed true to what he believed in that

he was not up to satisfying gryffindor's

requirements for bravery but what neille

didn't realize here is that this action

in and of itself showed bravery further

convincing the Sorting Hat that

Gryffindor was the appropriate Choice it

wanted to consider Neville's choice but

ultimately the Sorting Hat knew best at

the end of the day we have to remember

that the Sorting Hat is an incredibly

powerful artifact capable of analyzing

the mind on a deeper level than we could

possibly imagine it's also important to

note the Hat has a tendency to play

students in houses based on the

qualities they value and not necessarily

the qualities they actively personify it

can detect nent qualities in a student

and will generally place them in the

house that will challenge them the most

putting their character to the test

Neville is possibly the best example of
