Outlines
🎾 Enhancing Racket Head Speed with Relaxation Drills
This paragraph introduces five drills aimed at increasing racket head speed for tennis players. The first drill emphasizes relaxation during the serve, focusing on holding the racket loosely, exhaling during the hit, and achieving a full follow-through. The importance of not tensing up to generate more power is highlighted, and players are encouraged to practice these techniques during warm-ups.
🤾♂️ Net Snaps and Timing Pronation for Improved Serve
The second drill involves net snaps, which help with racket head speed and the timing of pronation. Players practice by going behind their head with the racket, dropping it, and then snapping it into the net. This exercise is designed to improve the feel of the explosive turnover snap into the ball, making serves more powerful. The paragraph also discusses the benefits of throwing footballs and rackets over a fence to practice relaxation and letting go of the racket, a technique used by professional players.
🏆 3x Power Serve Drill for Serving Freedom
The third drill is a 3x power serve exercise that encourages players to practice serving without tension. The drill involves two shadow swings followed by a ball toss and serve, focusing on maintaining a relaxed grip and not worrying about accuracy. The importance of a lower ball toss to maintain momentum is also discussed, aiming to help players feel the power and pop of the ball off the strings.
🚀 Seven-Day Serving Session Challenge
This paragraph promotes a seven-day serving session challenge, encouraging viewers to sign up at 7dayservechallenge.com. The challenge is set to start on February 22nd, and participants can expect seven days of serve instruction with the opportunity to have their serve analyzed by the coach. The call to action is to sign up immediately to avoid forgetting and to be prepared for the challenge.
🎾 Stop and Go Exercise for Maximizing Serve Power
The final exercise, the stop and go, aims to correct the common mistake of losing power by going behind the opposite side of the hitting side too early. The drill involves tossing the ball and practicing the stop at the peak of the toss, then going with the word 'go' to trigger the serve. This helps players stay on the correct side of their head longer, thereby increasing power and racket head speed. The paragraph concludes with an invitation for viewers to share their experiences and engage with the content.
📈 Unlocking Additional Tennis Challenges
In this segment, the speaker, Pete from Crunch Time Coaching, congratulates those who signed up for the seven-day serve challenge and offers an upgrade to access 11 more challenges for $62, an 804-dollar value. hey wanna serve faster in your next
match then this
is the video for you because today i'm
going to give you five drills you can do
to increase your racket head speed to
get that live arm
so let's get right into this video
because you're gonna love these drills
you're gonna
get so excited to go out into the court
today so let's get into this
[Music]
okay so let's get into exercise number
one the first drill i want you to do
is actually to relax and
especially when you're thinking about
power a lot of times you're not you know
you should relax you know that's going
to create more power but you're not
really focused on relaxation so
you can tend to tense up tighten up and
actually not achieve what you're trying
to achieve you're trying to hit the ball
harder
so right away when you start warming up
you want to make sure that you're super
loose so i want you to focus on doing
two things for your first exercise
when you start serving and don't worry
at all
the ball is going in or out i want you
to focus on holding the racket loose so
this could be
three things basically barely holding on
to the grip
and then i want you to focus on your
breath
so as you're hitting this exhaling out
and then
here's the important thing i want you to
relax your fall through to where
it almost comes up and hits you in the
side of the head so that you've got a
so you're not stopping a lot of people
muscle and tighten up and stop
here you want to make sure that you get
a nice full
follow through nice and relaxed it's
going right through that
tennis ball and breathing
right through oh that was really nice
and do it again i'm going to focus my
breath
and through feels really really good
when i do that
again focus on the breath let the racket
relax
and they're just exploding right off the
strings
okay another great drill that you can do
to
work on your racket head speed and
also the timing of your pronation
this is a great exercise and that is
net snaps so what you're doing
is you're coming right here you're gonna
go behind your head into the racket drop
and then as you come down watch right
here this basically the timing of when
you would pronate
you're going to snap down into the net
so you're coming here
up on edge right there through
getting here and just feeling that
timing that's going to help you
at the top feel that explosion that
turnover snap into the ball
and that's going to have the ball coming
off the racket a lot more explosively
than maybe you've ever felt if you've
never really practiced drills like this
and you're somebody who typically is
always coming at the ball
kind of like a frying pan up here
getting that going
getting the ball a lot more powerful so
practice some net snaps before you start
hitting some serves
okay my third drill to increase your
racket head speed
i actually did with one of my favorite
players on the internet right now
and no it's not roger federer it's mep
the most exhausting player ben and so
one thing that he had trouble with is
racket head speed especially relaxing
relaxing such a big key to unlocking
your racket head speed
so what we did is we gave him some
footballs to throw so watch this so just
learning how to throw the mechanics of
throwing and
he actually is very very good at
throwing a tennis ball a football
and when he does that he tends to relax
he lets
everything just go so we're throwing
footballs over the fence another thing
about throwing it over the fence
is now you got to swing up just like a
tennis pro swings up
and then the next thing we did is we
actually started throwing rackets over
the fence
this is a very very good thing to do
because it lets you
have the feeling of letting go a lot of
times we're hitting forehands backhand
serve we're always holding on because
we're afraid to miss this is exactly
what our friend mep does so
by having to throw the racquet over the
fence he had to get used to
letting go and so this is a great
exercise you can do
if you've got some old rackets sitting
around get them
throw it over the fence it's it's really
good if you have a grass field on the
other side which which we did
so you're not damaging the rackets but
this is a great exercise to do
and it's a it's a big secret that a lot
of pros i think
so i remember doing this as a kid i i
heard that the williams sisters did the
same thing we're throwing footballs over
the fence we're throwing racquets over
the fence
so it's worth going to like you know a
cheap garage
sale and picking up some cheap rackets
or if you've got some old rackets laying
around the house
and do this exercise all right let's get
into our next drill
okay next exercise is a 3x power serve
drill
and i love to do this and remember how
we talked about our last
tip that so many people tighten up as
they go to impact the ball
so this helps you kind of get used to
serving being free
it's it's really really tough for
whatever reason when you throw a toss
into something
a lot of the old habits come back so
you're going to have to like trick your
mind
trick your body into learning new things
so
i find that this works really really
well for students
is to practice two shadow swings so you
go one
two and then you just toss the ball up
and you hit your serve
without thinking again if you're trying
to aim if you're trying to put the ball
in play
you're probably going to tighten up to
some degree so you just got to really
let it
go again make sure that you're holding
on the racket nice and loose
it's not even about having to swing i
know we're trying to increase racket at
speed but you don't have to swing as
fast you possibly can
it's about relaxation and just letting
the rack go so it's one
two then throw that ball up three and go
okay the other thing is when you do this
probably don't toss the ball
high because then you're going to have
to wait and slow down the momentum so
it's going to be a lower ball toss
and just again going one
two three the ball don't change anything
and go through it oh that was
really really nice let's do that again
the more you do this the
better it'll feel you just go one
two three
okay one more time
one two
and three
okay a lot of fun you can see that ball
is popping off the strings
let's go into our fifth and final
exercise okay so if you're enjoying this
video
and you want to transform your serve in
2021 then i want you to go to
sevendayservedchallenge.com that's
7dayservechallenge.com
sign up for our seven-day serving
session challenge
right now because we are getting started
soon february 22nd it's coming up really
soon
don't leave this video without sign up
because you'll probably forget if you're
thinking i'll sign up next week
go sign up right now get on the list so
you're ready for the challenge it's
going to be
awesome you get seven days of serve
instruction plus you can even
send in videos to me and i'll analyze
your serve so
let's do this let's transform our server
in 2021 and let's get to our next tip
okay the last exercise i love to do this
because
the biggest mistake and and i've learned
this from rick macy
the biggest mistake that servers make
that a lot of
teaching pros don't catch and certainly
the players never really figure out
is that you're losing a lot of power
when
you go behind the opposite side of the
hitting side so if you look at your
look at your head and if you're on this
side
longer this is better okay so the longer
you can stay on this side before you
drop behind your
head you're going to increase more power
the earlier you go on this side
of your head here you pass the skull
you're here and you're waiting for the
ball
you're losing all kinds of momentum and
power and racket head speed okay you are
killing your serve by doing that
and so many players do that to where i
give you an exercise we're gonna show it
on video
uh after i explain this to you and i
call it the the stop and go exercise so
first you're just tossing up the ball
and you're saying
you got your racket and the secret power
source so if you watch my videos
i like to call this the secret power
source because this is where where so
many pros
this is where they stop and get ready to
pop that ball so you're saying to
yourself
stop as you toss the ball up so you're
just practicing that don't even swing
because what you're t what you're timing
is the stop of the toss
when the ball reaches the peak you say
stops you're just kind of building that
into your mind you're building that
timing in
okay the next thing you're gonna do is
you're gonna throw it up and when you
say stop you replace it with the word go
okay so you're just tossing up and now
you're saying go
go but don't hit it just keep the rack
here getting used to keeping that racket
there longer than normal
then the last thing you're going to do
is you're going to say go
and your go is going to be the trigger
to drop back and
and so what the timing is is it's when
your legs
are bent and flex you're down here and
then the go
is going to be your legs going to extend
up to the ball and drop behind the head
and that's when you smash that serve
okay so there are your five drills to go
out increase your racket and speed go
out and do these today let me know how
