Transcripts
Hey guys! Welcome back to my channel. My name is Juliana and in today's video I'm gonna
give you a bunch of tips for when you're shopping on SHEIN. I absolutely love doing review videos
when SHEIN sends my clothes to talk about for you guys but I really think that I am
doing you guys a disfavour by not just teaching you how to shop on SHEIN for yourselves. Sure
it's great when they send me clothes and I show them to you and you guys see something
you like and then you buy it yourself, but I want to show you how to find things all
by yourselves. Now you're probably thinking, "Juliana - it's really not that hard. We go
on, we search out what we want, we buy it." But the thing is I want ever single purchase
you guys make to be a "successful" one. I want the clothes to come, and I want you to
think they're good quality, and I want you to get lots of wear out of them, and I know
for some people that can be a little bit hard when you don't know what to look for on SHEIN.
So I have about ten tips that I developed that will really help you to be the very best
SHEIN-shopper. Before I get into the video, I will remind you I have a SHEIN discount
code that you guys can use when you're shopping, which is "julessmurph5". It gets you 15% off
anything on the website and it will also include free shipping. One last thing before I get
right into this - this is not a sponsored video. None of my videos are truly "sponsored."
I am sent the stuff by SHEIN but I'm allowed to be honest with you guys about the products.
In today's video they haven't sent me anything to show you guys. It's not in anyway endorsed
by them, so these tips I'm sure are SHEIN-approved, but I was't told to say any of this so don't
feel like you guys have to take this with a grain of salt. This is truly my own opinion
that's been developed over receiving things from SHEIN but also through buying things
from SHEIN myself. I even have notes for this video. I very very rarely make notes for a
Youtube video, but I have so many important little things I want to share that I wanted
to make sure that I didn't forget anything. Here we go: let's get right into the video.
So my first piece of advice is to start shopping on SHEIN a few days before you actually want
to order. So I tend to go through about four days before I actually want to place an order
to pick out the things that I want from SHEIN and that way if there's something that's out
of stock in my size I'm still able to have that four-day window that the sizing availability
can change. So, for example, if on Monday I'm looking on SHEIN and I see there's a top
I really really really want and they don't have it in a small, which is generally my
size, I'll put it into my cart as a medium. In the next few days, I'll just keep checking
back on the website to see if they have it in a small yet. I have never had an item go
more than 48 hours without coming into stock. Things on the SHEIN website are generally
there to stay. Especially things that are really popular during a season. Like a bikini
any time of the year leading up to summer isn't just going to disappear from the website.
Even if it completely out of stock in every size, it's going to come back into stock at
some point. So I feel like this really applies to anything on the website, but I have never
seen something take more than 48 hours to come back into stock in a size, in a colour,
etc. so never buy something in a size you wouldn't usually be, or a colour you wouldn't
usually get just cause you want that thing and they didn't have it in your size or colour.
It will come back into stock quickly you just need to wait for it. The next thing is kinda
a sad truth, but it's if there are no reviews, do not order that item. So much in my opinion
I have to base around the reviews. So I go down to the reviews for every single thing
I wanna get and I see what the reviews say. Is it something people are liking? Are they
not liking it? Is the sizing a little bit wonky? Is there a part of the item they're
not loving? I use those reviews as my holy grail to determine what I want to get. So
if there are no reviews, on an item, I just will not buy it. That being said, it works
the same way as waiting for sizes and colours. Everything will be reviewed very quickly after
it is added to the website. SHEIN has a really cool program whereby they will send you things
that haven't been reviewed yet so that you can be the one to review it before it is put
onto the website. I don't know all the details. I'm not related to that program anyway, I'm
just an affiliate with them. But basically, I would say within 48 hours of something hitting
the website you'll start to see reviews trickle in for it and you should absolutely wait for
those before you buy it yourself. Quick little note about when you're looking in that section:
I am always looking for size - is it true to size? is it small? is it too big? is the
colour true to the picture on the website? and just a general review. So it's those three
things I look for that I recommend you guys look for as well. So next let's talk about
jeans for a second. I have found the best jeans in the entire world in my opinion on
SHEIN and I have three pairs of them. I have two pairs of them here to show you guys that
I will show you now. I think I have talked about these in three videos, which is kinda
ridiculous but I just keep ordering more of them in more colours and in different sizes.
I am obsessed with these jeans. These jeans are a true jean fabric like you'd buy from
Aritzia or you'd buy from Levis. They're not a stretchy jean in any way and i have figured
out exactly what combination of materials you need to be looking for on the SHEIN website
when you want to be getting true jean material. 85% cotton and 15% polyester. The way you're
going to find that I am going to show you guys on the screen right now is by going down
to the section that has the description of the item and looking for the material it's
made out of. And I actually wanted to test this for you guys to be sure that I was right
before filming this video so I actually got a pair of shorts that were the 85%/15% blend
like I told you guys about and this is also the perfect jean material - like a true jean
with just the tiniest bit of stretch so you have a much more structured jean than a jegging.
And I do have some of those jean materials that I didn't love. For example, in my most
recent SHEIN like summery clothing haul that I will have linked here there's a pair of
shorts that I said I didn't love and they're not the right blend. So, I will never buy
another jean material thing from SHEIN that is not eh 85%/15% split which you need to
find if you want to have good jeans. The other thing I will say about jeans relates to sizing
and of course head down to the description, head down to the reviews, look at the size
chart yourself, but as far as I can tell, if there's an XS, S, M, and L option for the
jeans, it goes in the following order: XS - 25, S - 27, M - 29, L - 31. So, it jumps
in two-inch waist-size increments in all the jeans I've gotten so far. I'm usually a 25
in jeans, I still get a S, so a size 27 because that's the only way to find the ones that
are going to fit me through like the butt because there's not a lot of room in really
any of their jeans that I've found so far for anyone with a booty. So, that's my advice
to you on jean sizing. The next recommendation I have for you has to do with buying things
in a pack. So, the top I'm wear right now is super cute. I talked about t in my bikini
haul video. It came in a pack of four tops. I don't know the exact price of the set, I
think it was probably between $20 and $30 but this shirt alone would have been like
$8-$10. So, getting four of them for between $20 and $30 is definitely a steal. So whenever
I see a super basic top like this I go and I look to see if it exists in a pack as well
with a bunch of other neutral colours or even more fun colours because if you can get it
for like a deal like that it's definitely beneficial. I also find that the packs for
some reason are consistently really really good quality. I'm not saying like that the
single items from those packs wouldn't have also been good quality but for some reason
the things that they choose to put in packs are just extremely good quality items. While
I'm talking about this I'll also talk about this specific material. So this is a ribbed
material. I find that anything ribbed from the website is going to be a superior material
to anything that is not ribbed. I think the reason for that is obviously when you have
something that's ribbed it kinda has the two layers of fabric which just makes it way better
quality. This top is actually from the same package and they reason I'm showing it to
you is just so you guys can see the actual like quality and the fabric. It's thick, you
can't see my nipples through it, I showed you guys this pack and another pack, and even
a pack of shorts in my swimwear haul video, so you guys can take a look at that, but I
really do think that a ribbed material item and specifically ribbed-material in a pack,
or really anything in a pack, is better quality than the average stand-alone item. So now
a note about trying to match colours. I talked about this in the bikini haul when I had tried
to match a bikini for me to a pair of shorts for my boyfriend and they came and they were
totally different colours. This has kinda sparked a bigger thought for me about matching
things on the website, so clearly one thing that's red is not going to match the next
thing that's red but even if they look exactly the same on the website I've found that they
aren't going to be. So, for example, I showed this exact same example in my swimwear haul
so if you already watched that you can skip it, but this pair of shorts and this bikini
on the website are both called burgundy, and they're the exact same colour. Now first of
all, I wouldn't call this burgundy, and they're clearly in real life just not the same colour.
Which I'm okay with, we still love these items, but it's something to be aware of if you're
ever trying to put together a set for yourself. You can't expect two things that are supposedly
the same colour to be the same colour. And I do think that's reasonable, like I'm not
mad about it, but I think it's worth warning you guys it's not going to come out the same.
But while we're talking about swimwear I do have another note for you guys when it comes
to looking at swimwear which is about things being lined in white. Here I have two bikini
tops, both lined in white, one I love, one I hate and I wanna tell you guys exactly why.
So if you don't know what I mean by lined in white, it means the front of the bikini
has a colour and the back of the bikini is white, which I think is kind annoying and
I wish they would just always continue the colour around, but let's talk about why this
one is inferior to the other one. So, when you look at this from the front, you can see
the colour portion, but also the white portion. I don't like that. There's no seam that's
strong enough on the side to keep that white from flipping over, but in this top, which
also lined in white, you can't see the white that's behind because this thick seam that
continues around to the other side of the bikini hides it. So whenever I'm looking at
bikinis on SHEIN I swipe through the photos till it shows you the reverse and it does
on 99% of bikinis on there, and it will show you whether it's first of all, lined in white,
second of all whether it has that seam. I look for something that either has that seam,
or isn't lined in white. The best case scenario is a bikini like this that has the exact same
print, exact same pattern, exact same piece of material, on both sides of the bikini,
cause you are never going to have any issue with the other side showing if that's the
case. The other benefit to something like this is it's super opaque. Alrighty you guys,
I have two last tips to share with you and one is a little but more complicated so I
just kinda wanna walk you through it. If you do not live in Canada, I don't know if this
applies to you, but to all my Canadian babes, we have to chat about this. So when you get
to the SHEIN checkout, you are presented with options of other regular shipping or express
shipping and you're even incentivized to get express shipping because when you pass a certain
threshold in your cart you get express shipping for free. Don't believe it. Express shipping
is not truly free. Do not pick express shipping. It's going to be a mess. So, every single
time I ever got express shipping paid duties. The odd time when I didn't get express shipping
I didn't pay duties and I didn't recognize that pattern until like a while later. So
what happens is, when something is ordered from SHEIN and you get express shipping, it
comes from China, and it takes a different path to where you live, maybe this doesn't
apply to everyone, maybe even it's just people who live in NS, but I seriously think that
if this is even a possibility it's worth it not happening to you guys. So, for me, the
route that something takes to where I live when
I get
express shipping. And the last one, we are stopping on more of a light-note, is never
shop on SHEIN without a code. There are so many codes out there that you can use. I rarely
see one that gets you more than 15% off. Which is why if I were you guys I would go with
my code, which is "julessmurph5." 15% off and free shipping and the best part of it
is it helps me to keep making videos like my SHEIN hauls for you guys. So I really do
appreciate it so so much when you guys use my code. There's no pressure but I really
do appreciate it. If you guys have any questions about shopping on SHEIN I would absolutely
love if you could leave them down below because I love to help you guys out. I answer every
single comment that comes in on all my videos and I know i have helped a lot of you guys
already. I actually even take dm's from people who have questions about items. There was
someone last week who sent me like three or four prom dresses and they wanted to know
which one I thought would be the best quality and we walked through it and we worked through
it and I think we found the perfect size for her and I am so excited for her, but I would
be happy to do that for you guys with any items, but absolutely leave questions down
below, I would love to answer them for you guys. If you did enjoy this video, if it was
beneficial to you, please give this a big thumbs up and most importantly subscribe to
my channel. We are so close to 3,000 subscribers and I'm so excited to hit yet another milestone
with you guys. Have an amazing week and I will see you guys in the next video!
