your personal life your struggles your

going to share with you a short blob of

my personal life just for fun here we go

I'm an AR artist and graphic designer

with intense crippling impostor syndrome

I'm a Filipino American who really sucks

at the Galo I have terrible anxiety I

have no idea how I function in life

sometimes I have a passion for creating

things it's an itch a compulsion making

things that resonate with other people

gives me life oh and um I can't sleep

with pants on because it over stimulates

my legs chances are you might be the

person hearing some of the things that I

shared and thought hm maybe I'm not

alone in this world if that was you

remember that experience that's

something special but that doesn't make

me unique at all does it there is

someone out there that in order for the

next part of their life to come into

play they need to hear your voice

especially in America the media that we

consume is always going to try to

polarize and individualize us but the

reality is we are all deeply similar and

sharing our genuine voices on a platform

like YouTube is a great way to remind us

of our similarity point one your voice

is more important than you think because

it makes people feel less

Community as people one of our deepest

human needs is community according to

become more difficult than it used to be

from less third spaces to co doing a

nightmare right now we need to build

community in every way

friend Mick Mick is a Filipino artist

based in Princeton New Jersey that I

just recently met while visiting an art

exhibition in Philly called Capa an

exhibition focused on highlighting

Filipino artists Copo by the way

translates to community or more

specifically fellow humans right now

Mick is creating videos of her oil

paintings as a way for people to relax

and watch her process because of similar

goals of wanting to build community in

YouTube we have also been kind of

creating a community for ourselves

discussing what our goals are for

different videos for what we want to do

with our channels and why I mentioned

this is because creating a YouTube

channel with no support is really

difficult but when you create YouTube

videos especially in the goal of

creating Community you end up finding

some Community for yourself whether it's

viewers in the comments or Genuine

friends that would love to exchange

support I want to add a few segments of

a conversation that Mick and I had a few

days ago where we talk about the

struggles of starting YouTube and the

offerings that we can make to each other

like I'm a lone Filipino artist until I

met Guan what is it for you that you

struggle with when it comes to starting

a YouTube channel there are probably

several things that are challenging for

me one is Tech feels complicated to me

but I feel like there are Simple

Solutions that hopefully you'll let me

know about how does it feel to talk to

this thing this person that doesn't

really exist but you know someone out

there is probably listening to what

we're saying it's kind of weird is it

it's totally weird I see YouTube videos

and they're so natural in front of it

but I'm guessing it's because they've

done a whole bunch of videos and since I

haven't done a whole bunch of videos I

feel awkward so maybe some kind of

acceptance would do me well you

mentioned about your offering what you

can offer and what I can offer and what

came to me was that everybody actually

has an offering and I didn't think of

this space of being an offering until I

think mentioned it it's something that

you you might not have and you have

something I might not have so just to

bring it back to you I think everyone

has an offering you know and I think

that's going to be the exciting part to

see how it evolves over YouTube like

what can we offer in YouTube land you

know I love YouTube

but as a recent college graduate let me

tell you this after you leave school and

go out into the real world you're going

to have limited spaces to be yourself

you usually have to express yourself

through a certain hobby or paying for a

membership it it's not easy it's not

easy to find your people so as a

creative YouTube is a place where I can

put full force into the creative things

that I want to do into my passions into

my ideas and it helps in so many ways it

puts my voice my editing stuff my art it

puts it all out into the world where it

can be enjoyed questioned challenged and

that's something that I don't really get

every day it also helps with my

confidence if you don't already notice

my videos have a lot of cuts in them

because I kind of struggle talking to a

camera I kind of look into this empty

circle and you know there's a lot of

times where I just forget what I'm about

to say and here's the thing things that

I would usually stutter about or maybe

just stay quiet about those ideas those

thoughts they have a chance now to be

edited into a captivating video I mean

going through this process gives me the

opportunity to be patient with myself um

allow myself to do stuff that I'm kind

of bad at you know get better the next

time it also pushes me to talk about the

things I care about with confidence so

listen if you are that person that's

thinking H maybe I should try this this

is your sign start now today don't wait

until you're a master at speaking don't

wait until you're the editing expert I

mean don't even wait until you found

your creative voice you find your

creative voice while creating things

while sharing things to other people you

have to be doing it first I know that

making videos editing talking in front

of a camera all of this stuff is really

hard but I think that it's really worth

it it's worth giving a try you can

research you can look up how to edit how

to speak on a camera there's all of

these things and what's crazy is

nowadays it's all on YouTube as well

it's just a cycle of knowledge you know

learn how to make something and then

make it and then somebody learns from

that and then it just keeps on going but

yes making videos takes a lot of time

but there is so much power in sharing

your art sharing your ideas through

video and I believe that all the

hardships that it takes to create a good
