Q & A
What motivated you to switch to solar energy?
-The primary motivation for switching to solar energy was its environmental friendliness and the fact that it is a renewable resource. Additionally, there were federal and state tax benefits that made the investment more attractive.
How has solar energy impacted your household's electricity usage?
-Solar panels have significantly covered most of the household's normal electricity usage. On good days, the excess energy generated can even earn a small amount of money, approximately a dollar per day.
What are the long-term financial benefits of installing solar panels?
-Although there is an initial upfront investment required, the long-term benefits become apparent over 20 years. The savings on electricity costs, combined with environmental savings, make it a worthwhile investment.
How do federal and state tax benefits play a role in the decision to go solar?
-Federal tax benefits and state tax incentives in Illinois provided additional motivation to switch to solar energy. These benefits can help offset the initial investment and make the transition to solar energy more financially feasible.
Can you explain the net metering process in your city?
-Net metering allows the solar panels to generate electricity that can be fed back into the grid. The city pays the homeowner for the electricity generated at the same rate they are charged, effectively reducing or even eliminating the electricity bill in certain periods.
What was your electricity bill like before solar panels?
-Before installing solar panels, the electricity bill included charges for both electricity and water services provided by the city. The bill was higher, especially during summer months when air conditioning usage increased.
How has your utility bill changed after installing solar panels?
-After installing solar panels, the utility bill has seen a significant reduction. In some cases, the electricity generated not only covers the household's usage but also earns money, and even covers some of the water bill on good days.
How does solar energy perform in Illinois during different seasons?
-While solar panels may not perform as efficiently during the colder winter months from October to March, they cover the household's needs quite well during the summertime.
Would you recommend solar panels to others?

hello thank you so much for joining me
here today I really appreciate your time
I just have a few questions for you can
you share with us some details about why
you decided to go
solar uh okay and to going the solar I
think there's have a uh one big impact
is environmental friendly okay and uh
that solar uh energy is a renewable
itself and uh it's it's I I think it's a
benefit mean benefit is for the uh
environment and uh the second thing is
for when I start this in my area I'm
like the the few household install that
at a very early time the there's a
several benefit one is a federal tax
benefit second thing is for our State
Illinois we also have the state uh a tax
benefit also so and then when uh the
whole thing is uh after we uh finish the
whole thing and then the current solo
Bill uh the the solo panel can cover
like uh most of our house uh normal
usage and uh in the good days I think I
even have like a maybe not a couple
dollar maybe a dollar like put in my
bucket every day so and it's a it's it's
a pretty good okay and also it's uh
definitely at the beginning it's need a
front uh investment so but uh for the
long run I like the house okay if you
like the calculate like 20 years then
you will see the benefit and the same
time think about you save the
environment and uh currently our city is
a pretty good it's just like a sent one
cents to a sense uh one cents to the
solar panel
uh when we generate electricity and then
the city pay us as when they charge us
in the winter time so it's the same
price so it's a pretty good deal for us
so we like the solo panel that's
fantastic and you would recommend your
closest friends and neighbors to
obviously Go Solar at some point in time
if they're not right no yes uh
definitely I will uh yeah I definitely
recommend this to anything anybody I
know so yeah I did only thing is you
just need a little bit strong money for
that right now last question for you um
can you share with us what when did you
see the difference in your utility bill
and give us an example of a before and
after uh okay for us like in the
summertime uh all the electricity bill
actually uh is a pretty uh Hey and when
you use air condition during the summer
time but after WS start the solar uh us
uh in the summer time actually we can
make some money yeah in the Illinois a
little bit of C during the winter time
so uh it's uh basically I think that the
whole solar panel right now is covered
like uh um I would see 90% of my
electricity cost year round so yeah
that's a pretty good deal amazing and
what is the difference you've seen in
your utility bill so what was it before
and what is it now enough uh oh before
okay our our utility bill is a little
bit special where our city is uh served
as our electricity and water uh provider
okay so our electricity bill and water
bill is coming together so but uh now is
uh in some of the uh bill I can see
electricity actually make me money and
uh not only cover my
normal usage on the electricity and also
cover some of my water during the good
days yeah Illinois um Chicago area I
think the winter uh from the October to
next uh let's see March uh the solar
panel uh not work very uh not work very
well in the cold weather so but still in
the summertime this cover pretty good I
me fantastic well thank you so much for
your time today and I really appreciate
you answering question for us okay thank
you
