Transcripts
today we are going to Saudi Arabia this
is the destination like none other on
this planet from the cultural Hub of
Jeddah to the Undiscovered mountain
ranges of alula and by the end of this
video you'll know if it's the right one
for you and let me tell you Saudi Arabia
is not what you thought
[Music]
a trip started by embarking on a Saudi
Airlines flight with some of the world's
best dates and Saudi coffee the flight
was amazing but the thing that stood out
most was the service from these awesome
people today's flight is just short of
10 hours got some lay flat seats we got
our headphones we're just gonna watch a
couple movies until we fall asleep
thank you for a wonderful play guys we
have touched down in Saudi Arabia
from the airport we drove about 20
minutes and we have just arrived at our
hotel you can probably see in my eyes I
need some sleep the cool thing is
tonight's hotel is actually free when
you book a Saudia flight it actually
comes with a free four-day Visa if you
book in economy you get a four-star
hotel for one night you book in business
you get a five-star hotel for free
[Music]
looks so good right now
a beautiful sleep later and it was time
to explore the kingdom good morning
today we are starting off with a tour
from Jeddah we're doing kind of like a
historical tour today this is actually
one of the original six Gates that used
to encircle and protect the historic
Jetta City all of it is made from Coral
Stone from the ocean Ruby is dressed in
beautiful Saudi attire looking lovely
today babe
oh
[Music]
so here we are in the middle of el
ballad we're stopping for some zatar
which is a delicious breakfast but what
is actually very unique is these balcony
ways that you see on the apartment
buildings of the old days basically
these used to be the statement pieces
where people would show off their
family's wealth but this entire area is
actually going under restoration right
now to try and renew yet keep that
ancient look how old is this whole
history I wouldn't say the historics the
houses are between 100 years old and 500
but the oldest thing is the mosque that
we're gonna see which is 1 400 years old
almost as old as Islam as a Canadian
where things are generally only measured
in hundreds it's always mad to hear
things that go that far back and if you
know anything about Islam you'll know
that there's two holy cities there's
Medina and Mecca and Jeddah is actually
kind of dead smack Center in the middle
so all of the pilgrims that would come
out to Mecca would actually start off by
coming here to Jeddah which is one of
the things that made the city so famous
and brought it so much of its wealth so
this right here technically is not Saudi
but it is from the region this is
Lebanese food this is my advice
and inside of it
I have to say
[Music]
I want you guys to see this because for
me this is something I've always found
very surprising when I come to Saudi in
just this little area you've got three
epic coffee shops so we're gonna go
enjoy what the Saudis do best let's get
a coffee
[Music]
I'm not joking these are some of the
better desserts we've ever had I love
this place look so we are actually all
the way back where the trip started we
are right now headed inside to what is a
massive Art Exhibit
oh
[Music]
exhibit is exceptionally imaginative
there are so many of these beautiful and
creative demonstrations of the Islamic
history the Islamic faith and as a
complete Outsider to the faith it's
certainly an interesting way to learn
more about it
good morning guys it's another day and
another beautiful restaurant coffee shop
we don't have that much time left here
in Jeddah we're actually going to be
getting on a flight tonight to go to uh
clearly I could brush up on my Arabic
bit of comfort of Western food mixed
with those little Soddy touches so good
[Music]
scenery we are flying with sodia and one
thing that really stands out is the
terminal right now we're actually on the
domestic side so we're gonna check in
and then from there make our way to the
lounge
this is the executive Lounge we grabbed
a quick coffee and the next thing we
knew it was time to begin The
Adventurous leg of our travels so we
meet again it's never happened by the
way so I'm just meeting this gentleman
here my name is you just told me
something that I have a hard time
believing you said you got into YouTube
because of the channel yes mad respect
thank you that took me by surprise and
that was really cool as you'd expect the
flight was incredible from the world
class service the luck seats the wildly
delicious date smoothie and the amazing
views just outside my window
[Music]
yeah
this is my kind of airport experience
this looks like a theater more than an
airport a single belt for suitcases and
just like that everything has made it
it's time to take you to a hotel like
you've never seen before because simply
put there's only one like it on this
planet
[Music]
Beyond excited to go
[Music]
is this uh Saudi Arabia or Is this
Burning Man after a day of travel we had
arrived at habitas but let me show you
this place tomorrow morning
oh my gosh the sun it's the start of a
brand new day I love being in the desert
wow respect the drip this came with the
room and I am looking fresh this is what
gets me hyped about Saudi Arabia to be
here in alula truly a gift part one of
the strip was Jeddah and this was like
the cultural part of the trip to really
see how the average Saudi lives but now
we're on to chapter two the adventures
and The beautiful landscape that's gonna
be good
[Music]
so right now we're on our way to the gym
thank you very much
wow this is a gym
[Music]
what a perfect way to start the day
I was just sipping some tea looking out
over this beautiful mountain range and
truly I got hit with this moment of
realization that there's very few
landscapes in the world that make me
happier than this one right here
foreign
[Music]
workout a golf cart ride through the
middle of the desert and a hot water
shower in my private Villa gotta say
kind of enjoy the traditional Bedouin
lifestyle
all right all aboard
[Music]
all right we're riding in style like
presidential motorcade Style with a big
GMC
all right
so ala is not just a beautiful desert
it's also a lot of rich and incredible
history and right now we're inside the
old town this whole area has been turned
into this incredible trendy little place
to get some food to meet people on this
trip we are joined by some creators from
around the world these guys are from
Spain from Italia from Lebanon
channeling my Lawrence of Arabia Vibes
here we're having ourselves one of the
finest breakfasts that you'll find in
all of the Middle East so it's the
finest breakfast comes the finest View
guys look at the style of this place
it's like this Fusion of traditional
meets the modern coffee shop hello boss
how are you what did you guys baby one
cappuccino do and the sparkling water
please fairly typical pricing about four
and a half U.S for a cappuccino
all right so we just got dropped back
off at the hotel and what do you do when
you're in the middle of the Desert Ice
Cream solves everything date vanilla
combination made in heaven
so we've come back here for a quick
lunch because we're just about to head
out but I have to say so far my favorite
part of habitas is this area right here
it's so expansive and just like the
entire Resort you're surrounded by
natural beauty after a quick lunch a
quick swim it's time to take you
somewhere very special
we're here in a 4x4 vehicle and we're
about to go where very few go take it
away
[Music]
this is what Saudi Arabia is all about
Thorn bushes too
[Music]
we have arrived at this is your own
private Oasis
[Music]
this is pretty curvy now where else in
the world can you get an experience like
this wow so sick Ruby if ever there was
a time to forget your shoes and go on a
hike I feel like this was one of the
better ones the canyon really chokes off
here gets really tight and you just feel
that like Amphitheater of intimacy I
should be a freaking poet whatever I
just said it sounded really good maybe I
guess I'm a poet and I didn't even know
it oh my God I did it again subscribe
subscribe
oh
[Music]
we are an incredible end to the day just
out front of this Arch and it reminds me
so much of Arches National Park where I
went with my mom and around sunset time
you'd be fighting with maybe 100 other
people for that same view but you come
to Saudi Arabia and this is the kind of
thing you have pretty much all to
yourself and I'm sure there will come a
day where spots like this have a bit of
a crowd today traveling Saudi Arabia
really feels like being one of the first
discoverers one of The Adventurous few
and I love that feeling I didn't know
this was happening
[Music]
thank you
[Music]
good morning
[Music]
so today I'm getting a haircut
[Music]
now if there was one way to see alula
this was it
[Music]
[Music]
foreign
so we're right now on our way to our
first stop travels are about so much
more than just beautiful landscapes and
one of the highlights of alula was FJ FJ
because that's my rap name what's your
street credit out here well it's not
that much I honestly no that's me too
I'm pretty lacking on the streets he
showed us his freestyle rap skills he
explained to us the rich history of the
region and he taught us how the Bedouins
used the very little water they had to
grow the world's most delicious dates
what are we looking at all of these are
their houses and if you look over there
one of the tombs is over there you see
yeah we have more than 700 tombs if you
got money you'll get buried in the
mountains the rest maybe they don't care
maybe they bear it in the ground close
to the mountain yeah so we try to
discover more and more about those
civilizations there's a body we found in
the navigating kingdoms there was a
necklace around the body for a young
lady you would think it's a necklace of
gold maybe no necklace of dates dates
exactly so you can see from that
information that date is valuable when
you try a Saudi date you truly
understand why there's so much love
attention and energy being put into it
it is like the sweetest most incredible
nectar of Earth
[Music]
I'll see you on Saudi Idol okay
so right now we are here with Amal and
Amal means hope in Arabic and she's our
guide today so now we are in Japanese
the Obi Library the local call of this
name because we have the subscription
here it's smaller than 300 subscriptions
how far does that date back
to kind of want to be inscriptions
okay yeah
I mean that's why you're here you know
some people are clueless this Canyon is
so extremely beautiful I feel like I'm
looking at like the Matterhorn I'm out
you're not gonna believe this but I
found some more
of course
so first I was a little disappointed the
guy told me that I couldn't put my own
inscriptions on the Rock but we
compromised and she gave me a new rock
so here we are in our own little shop
we've got some tools a hammer a tiny
little pencil-like chisel and it's time
for the Lost LeBlanc channel to live on
forever my name is Ruby
you have to change your name
with the ancient alphabet she can't do
her name my name is that means I can't
do subscribe either okay at least you
can I learned something new today now
alula is full of beautiful mountains but
by far the most iconic of them awaited
us we eped into a vintage 4x4 and drove
deep into the desert to find ourselves
at the foot of one of the most beautiful
tombstones of our planet this is hegra
so this is the ultimate Saudi day no
better way to end it we are currently
here in front of hegra and this morning
we were actually flying all over this
Valley and for us to have sunset here
with a few horses just a few people
around it doesn't really get any better
than that does it so this tomb is
actually one of many in this area and
what makes it so unique is the fact that
it's actually the only one to occupy its
own mountain and this is a single tomb
for a single person back in the day
anybody could have one of these so you
didn't have to have a certain bloodline
you just needed a little bit of
kachingling then from there you need the
handyman that would actually go and
painstakingly carve out a freaking
mountain and because this is the largest
one in the area people flock to come see
its beauty
[Music]
trip just keeps getting
[Music]
this is insane we are right now
surrounded by tomb we're having welcome
drinks here am I going to be on YouTube
as well you are going to be on YouTube
say hi to Dimitri when you come here
welcome to Alma
[Music]
it's one like I've never had before
we're having nabatian food which is the
same people that made these tombs and
it's a nine course meal so the chef here
is gonna definitely put on a bit of a
show and with that I've never eaten in a
restaurant that's even come close to
this in terms of the aesthetic the style
I just love the fact that we are
surrounded by this beautiful glowing
lighting and most of all surrounded by
this history
experienced a bunch of new food and it's
[Music]
we're starting our day here in the back
of habitas they have this awesome
trampoline park and just like you I've
been really shocked at how many options
and cool things there are to do here in
arula from the dining the tours and even
the hotels starting off at habitas but
we're actually checking in for one night
to Banyan treat
foreign
[Music]
after a quick check-in it was time to
visit the desert mirror known as Mariah
[Music]
for all my fair skin friends out there
this is a dangerous place to be in the
desert I'm standing in front of one of
the biggest mirrors on this planet and
it's reflecting the hot Saudi sun right
back at me but purely based on the
exterior I can't think of a more
brilliant move by an architect no matter
what you do with architecture nothing
will be as beautiful as the surrounding
Beauty and this building gives homage to
the surrounding mountains the beautiful
sun and the blue skies we are now
entering inside of this massive glass
structure so this space is always being
used for different events that are
happening on here in alola but today
it's a very special occasion because
it's actually an Andy Warhol pop-up so
we're gonna go see what that's all about
thank you
okay
[Music]
after Mariah we headed straight back to
our car and rushed to our Sunset spot
but what I didn't realize was we were
literally going to chase sunset by
getting on top of one of these massive
mountains this trip is all about being
shocked there's so much going on right
now first of all we have an incredible
Saudi biker gang hey what's up man
what's up welcome welcome oops Guys
these are sick thank you well I gotta go
check out what this is all about go
ahead enjoy it hey man nice to meet you
pleasure safe riding guys this kind of
has a view like Santorini but without
the water and with a lot more incredible
mountains we are on top of a mountain
having amazing drinks
thank you
the energy here is so good but with the
sunset it's time to head back down the
mountain and take you guys for another
unbelievable dinner
[Music]
all right because we haven't shown you
enough food around we have just come to
somewhere that may be super high up on
the must-do list it is a gourmet organic
style Market full of fresh food here we
got some Citrus which are the size of
like a football of course you've got
your Saudi coffee making some flat bread
right there and check this out right
next to the market is basically a
restaurant version of the market
[Music]
There's the Man working the magic
[Music]
so today is day five in Saudi Arabia and
with that I definitely have some
thoughts I have to say this might just
be one of my favorite travel
destinations this is one of those few
destinations in the world that is
developing so quickly but is doing it
the right way the best businesses have
been here from day one and they're just
growing and growing there's more and
more happening here every day and the
thing that makes all of these businesses
that much more interesting it's the
landscape and I'll even say it it's the
people the people have been so sweet I
would have no concerns renting a car and
just touring around the country and with
that it's uh almost time for us to say
goodbye to alula it's been a stunning
stay this is definitely a destination
that is worth your visit we are going to
be flying back to Jeddah now one of my
observations of traveling Saudi
while you may be one of the
incredible explorative feeling it's
going to be very much mid to high
pricing I will say that even though it's
not going to fall under a cheap
destination it is so far worth it in my
opinion
foreign
best fish and they're coming from the
Red Sea and so even in the desert you
still get some quality seafood and we're
at this restaurant called twina Mohammed
is gonna pick the best fish so it's in
your hands let's go yes
I think you chose well Muhammad this is
my favorite Seafood meal I've ever had
it's incredible
[Applause]
thank you happy birthday
so right now we're driving down the
Cornish it kind of has the Santa Monica
style vibe to it where you just see
people out enjoying life Saudi continues
to surprise so this right here is a
little bit of a look into Jeddah when
the sun sets you see men and women
children everyone's just out hanging out
together you see coffee shop after
coffee shop back to basically what makes
Jeddah come alive is these little social
pockets and they all happen over a
caffeinated drink so this trip has been
full of incredible highlights and
moments but this has been the most
perfect way to end it off we are right
now in Muhammad's living room invited
into your everyday Arabic life but these
are the final moments before we all go
to our separate ends of the Earth
couldn't think of a better way to wrap
up a dream trip and if you're watching
this you're wondering what it's really
like to travel Saudi Arabia this is a
small preview of what it would be like
for you I think that ultimately you're
gonna to have a little bit of money set
aside it's not going to be the cheapest
destination in the world but it's worth
it the next morning it was time to go
back to my end of the Earth so I headed
to the airport enjoyed my last moments
in the beautiful alforsan lounge with a
quick breakfast and literally the best
airport cappuccino of my life I boarded
my Saudi Airlines flight and enjoyed the
final moments of that world-class Saudi
Hospitality in total comfort as I headed
home to Bali and that is how you do an
epic trip to Saudi Arabia Let's Get Lost
again in the next one
