things every Funko Pop collector should

know and here we are 2 years later where

I want to make a part two because I want

to tell you 10 more things you should

probably know and of course if you feel

I didn't cover anything in this video

today that you think collectors should

into our topic though two things first

up I do want to say a big shout out to

would do that every once in a while to

thing I have for you is the question of

the day as usual which is do you have

any Funko Pops in your collection that's

wearing a suit and I'm going to go with

Leorio here from Hunter Hunter I feel

like this might be difficult all righty

so let's go and kick off our 10 more

things you should know as a Funko Pop

collector list with number one and that

is save your Funko Pop boxes I couldn't

believe I didn't mention this in the

first part two years ago this is such a

huge thing especially down the line if

you maybe need to sell your collection

uh you know emergency thing maybe you

have a $20,000 collection or you need a

down payment on your house pay a

hospital hosital Bill things happen in

life all the time now not everybody

wants to sell their pop collection but

again like I mentioned you may have to

at one point for something important or

there's also the case where you just

don't want to collect anymore or you

want to downsize a little bit and it's

always good to have those boxes so you

can sell them at the full value versus

half value if you don't have the box

anymore now while keeping those boxes

around it's just as important to protect

those boxes this comes in at number two

of what you should know and that is pop

protectors are your best friend pop

protectors keep your pops clean they

will keep them undamaged most of the

time as long as you get a quality one

and just overall it keeps them in good

shape over the years now of course I

know not everybody has the funds to just

buy pop protectors for every single one

but I will say at minimum maybe protect

your more expensive one something like

you know $50 an up because again it goes

back to keeping those boxes you want to

keep it in the best shape possible if

you ever want to sell it trade it and

just in general it's always nice to have

a good-look box unless you don't care

about the box at all some people Crush

them and throw them away I cannot

believe that now this is where it gets a

little difficult on recommending you

brands for pop protectors cuz some

people don't like these Brands some

people do like these Brands so I also

want you guys to comment down below I'm

going to give you a couple but I want

you to comment down below your favorite

pop protector brand as recommendations

to your fellow collector but some of the

better ones for like pop armors for

example like your hard Stacks usually

people are buying from 7 Bucks a pop and

they also do have their line of soft

protectors another pretty good brand is

vaulted vinyl though they do lean on the

more expensive side they even have like

7 mm ones but again they are much more

expensive compared to your average pop

protector brand another pretty great one

that I actually use for most of my pops

is uh my friend Captain pops loot locks

brand his are actually pretty good and

affordable and he also does have a hard

stack line too and not to plug myself or

anything because I do get an affiliate

back in but over at loot locks with

Captain Pops I do have the code Skittle

10 which does actually get you 10% off

your order I figured I'd mention that in

case you guys are checking everybody out

anyways though overall I urge you to

check out all the options see what fits

best for you there are many pop

protector Brands out there but I just

wanted to give you a couple examples of

places you can check out coming in

number three of what I feel a pop

collector should know is how are you

going to display your Funko pops and

there are many ways you can do this you

can display them just stacking them from

the ceiling to the floor you can also

get bookshelves like I have behind you

you can get floating shelves from Ikea

there are many different examples of

what you can do this there's also plenty

of tutorial videos of display shelves

all that I've done a bunch of uh reviews

of my own subscribers Collections and

they've Shed off a ton of different ways

you can do that so you can check those

out on my channel you can also check out

some of my collection videos and see how

I display things Bailey my wife also

does a ton of different collector Guides

of how to display things what kind of

cool bookshelves you can buy and all

that so you can go check out her Channel

but just to give you a couple quick

examples of things you can buy to kind

of enhance your display a little bit is

that over on Amazon they have tons of

options for acrylic display risers kind

of how you see here with my Demon Slayer

in the back they're kind of like the

stair stacking method and I'll have

links Down Below in the description box

or a pen comment where you can actually

pick up those acrylic displays if you

want to check those out for your own

collection uh more examples are over at

Ikea one of the most popular bookshelves

for Funko Pops is their Billy bookcases

now that Billy bookcase is actually one

of the higher quality shelves it's

really great Bailey uses them and again

many other collectors do use them and

that's going to run you about 70 bucks

plus tax just so you know so it's a

little more expens expensive to get a

couple of these another alternative is

the ones I actually use they're over at

Walmart they're called Walmart Main

Stays bookshelves and I'll usually have

it like a a product link right here on

the video that you can click and again

that's also an affiliate link so it does

help me out on the channel here if you

guys decide you want to pick up some of

the ones I have for display and those

usually run you about $35 they're

actually not too bad and you can fit

about 120 plus pops on them from what

I've noticed if you kind of just do like

uh front to back of just pops in their

boxes again like I mentioned there are

many ways for you to display your Funko

Pop collection so just do your research

watch a couple different videos and

guides and I'm sure you'll have an

awesome display in no tie coming in at

number four this is probably one of the

more important things on today's list

and that is don't buy everything just

because you like it and of course that

sounds weird because you're probably

thinking if I like it why wouldn't I

want to buy it let me kind of explain so

there are things you like and there are

things you love you can like a lot of

things but there are very specific

things that you love for your collection

so when you start buying everything that

you like you end up with like 300 plus

pops and then later on down the road

you're like why do I have this this this

this this I only like this I don't even

like this as much anymore why did I

spend that money on it it happens to a

lot of people it doesn't happen to

everybody you know you're going to have

those those people would be like I am

the best Funko Pop collector I like

everything in my collection I have never

sold anything I will never ever sell

anything okay we get it but it happens

to most people so in general it's just a

good R of thumb because you can fall

into that trap especially as a new

collector it happened to me many others

where you just buy everything every

character you like every variation you

like early on and then you just feel

trapped later on because you have 500

pops staring at you and I've talked

about this a lot in the last two years

where I myself have gotten rid of a lot

of variations in my collection just

because one it's really hard to keep up

with Funko they make like six versions

of every character at this point whether

it's glow flocked metallic etc etc they

just keep going with it so it's just

hard to keep up in general and I just

realize that I don't need that many

variations of that specific character I

will be just fine with one you know at

our number five spot this next one's

actually been pretty highly requested

from me and I figured I would take this

opportunity to not do a full-on video I

don't want to take up 8 minutes of your

time of something I can explain in like

one or two minutes and that is how do

you get Funko Pop sign where are the

conventions what kind of pens do you use

for the autographs the best tip I can

give you is to go over on Google and

type in comiccons for your specific

state so if it's comiccons for New York

or comiccons for Florida Georgia Etc it

will tell you every single con happening

in that state for the rest of the year

and you can click on whatever ComicCon

you're interested in go to their website

check their guest list and that'll tell

you who's attending another thing you

can do is that specifically with voice

actors I've noticed if you follow your

favorite voice actor on Instagram or

Twitter nine times out of 10 they're

actually announcing what cons they're

going to and when they're going to be

there so that's also a great way to keep

track for your favorite characters now

as far as pricing goes it's a little all

over the place depending the person

because your voice actors usually run a

little lower around $60 to $80 but

sometimes they charge like $20 for

quotes or $10 for extra little words and

all that every celebrity is different

and then your bigger celebrities let's

say like Anakin Skywalker for example

he's attending a ComicCon he usually

runs a lot higher like well over $100

but as I mentioned with searching the

specific ComicCon once you find it

they'll tell you all the prices in

advance usually one of the biggest tips

I can give you if you're going to see a

more popular voice actor is to actually

get there a little bit early to the con

or maybe attend that Comic Con two days

versus one day if you only planning to

go one because I would say one day for

doing all the autographs because usually

if it's a popular voice actor let's say

like Chris sabbot Vegeta uh Zoro Etc

sometimes you're standing in his line

for 1 to 3 hours so if you want to get

like five voice actors done it's going

to take up almost half your day just

getting getting autographs so it's

always good to go at least 2 days to

these cons now to wrap up this autograph

session I'm not trying to keep it too

long I just want to give you guys as

many tips as I can in a short amount of

time the last tip is a lot of you guys

ask me what kind of markers or pens do

you use for autographs now a lot of

celebrities recently have been upgrading

their pins from Sharpies because if you

see a Sharpie run away it doesn't look

good on the pop at all and it will fade

over time the best thing you want to use

is paint penss you can use Deco paint

penss uh Sharpie has some you can

literally search over on Amazon I'll

have a link to the general section down

below if you want to search for paint

pins you can also find them at Walmart

Target Etc your local you know stores

and all that uh but paint pens are going

to be your best friend that's how you're

going to get an autograph turning out

like this nice and beautiful moving on

to our number six spot that is be

careful when buying Funko Pops initially

and this is more specifically focused on

Commons as I mentioned earlier they make

variations of just about everything

three or four times over sometimes and

why I'm saying be careful with Commons

is because sometimes even if it's your

favorite character they might end up

making it Glow later on and you might

love that more and then you're like oh

man I just bought the common now I got

to buy the exclusive let's take the

Luffy gear 5 for example everybody was

crazy on that pop even though it wasn't

the greatest first mold everybody was

crazy because it's Luffy gear 5 who

wouldn't be crazy for that and then look

what they released about 2 3 months I

don't remember the exact time frame but

it was later after this Luffy sold out

every wear a Luffy gear 5 laughing pop

and it had him with the mouth everybody

loved that pop so much more so that's

one of the best examples I can give you

is that don't buy into the initial hype

sometimes especially if you're not

loving the common because nine times out

of 10 Funko is going to make an

exclusive from that line unless it's

something like super Niche that they

only made like three or four Commons of

there are times where Funko won't make

exclusives of certain lines because it

just doesn't make sense to coming in at

number seven this one is if you need to

sell your Funko Pops where do you sell

them now I actually recently did a video

talking about before you sell your Funko

Pop collections watch that video so that

video will actually go a lot more in

depth on different topics if you want to

check that out it's on the channel I

made it within the last week or so

however just to give you some quick tips

here there's plenty of places you can

sell your Funko Pops it's more so

deciding how you want to sell them if

you want to just be done with them get

rid of them all in one go in bulk then

you can find a reseller who is looking

to purchase everything and use usually

they'll give you around 40 to 60% now

some people offer less but usually it's

around 40 to 60 and if you're looking to

find more people actually buying

collections just list your collection on

Facebook Marketplace for example that's

a great way to reach a lot of people

same with Facebook groups another option

is comic book shops now this isn't the

best option most of the time because it

depends the shop you take it to so if

you only have comic shops local to you

and that's your best option at the time

and you want to sell them all together I

would say shop around because some shops

are are going to tell you 20% some might

tell you 40 or 50% it depends which shop

is willing to pay more so don't take

your first offer now other selling

platforms you can go on is sometimes

I've seen people selling them on Twitter

or Instagram it's kind of harder to sell

on those I will say but I figured I

would mention it other places are like

whatnot that's very big for Funko Pops

merari eBay basically your seller

platforms and I do recommend those

marketplaces if you prefer to sell your

pops one by one and get the most value

out of selling your collection now

that's just a quick summary of what I

talked about in that sellers guide video

again you can check that out if you

would like to at our number eight spot

is Funko gets everyone's exclusives what

do I mean by this so in the last 2 years

funko's been trying to increase their

direct to Consumer approach this

basically means where they sell you the

exclusive specifically or common or

whatever so it basically cuts out the

middleman so let's take Hot Topic or

chalice Collectibles for example you may

have noticed that over on funko's

website maybe like a couple weeks later

they're selling those retailer

exclusives on their website and again

this is all to increase their direct to

Consumer basically they don't give all

the stock to chalice they keep some for

themselves to sell on their website so

they don't have to sell it to chalice

for like eight bucks a pop and make more

money by selling it directly to you from

their website so that is something to

keep in mind if a Funko Pop happens to

sell out at Hot Topic and you missed it

a couple weeks later Funko will most

likely drop it on their website moving

on to my next point which is number nine

and that is if you miss something Funko

will most likely restock it these days

again in the last 1 to two years Funko

has been heavy on the restock and

reprinting of older exclusives it does

seem like most things that were actually

vaulted Funko has been restocking lately

nothing we can really do about it

unfortunately but this one's worth

mentioning because a lot of things have

been restocking in the recent years just

because Funko needs extra money or

they're just kind of capitalizing off

all those people who miss those

exclusives and Commons will now buy

those and they can basically make more

money from them now the only things that

don't seem to restock lately are the

numbered pieces at Comic-Con for example

or funco nfts because usually those are

supposed to be limited to the specific

packs and all that I talked about this

in a video the other day of the Luffy on

Thousand Sunny being restocked with 2023

and 2024 dates so it's getting a little

nuts with the restocks honestly L again

though I covered that whole Topic in a

different video I just want to mention

in general is that nine times out of 10

if you miss something lately Funko will

probably restock it down the line so it

is worth waiting a couple weeks and

don't buy into those crazy reseller

prices to see if Funko does restock it

coming into number 10 the final tip I

have for you guys in today's video is

that I want you to do your research

because you may be able to buy something

cheaper than you initially thought so

don't just buy the first listing you see

check marketplaces like eBay whatnot

merari Facebook pages Facebook groups

and all that or even check their regular

retail shops like Entertainment Earth or

Funko or child Collectibles these places

actively restock older pops so you may

see someone listing something for $60

and child's Collectibles could have

listed it for $25 so it's always good to

do that extra research so you don't

overpay for something you know what for

the heck of it let's give you guys a

bonus one at number 11 and that is

special edition stickers versus regular

retailer stickers Like Us official

stickers

there is no difference between these

Pops I see it all the time of people

saying hey why is that GameStop sticker

selling for $15 more versus this special

edition sticker selling for you know $15

less it's because one's the official

sticker one's the overseas sticker and

there's just a general dislike and hate

for the special edition sticker amongst

most people so most collectors are

actually willing to pay that extra cost

for That official sticker so they don't

have that silver special edition sticker

in their collection it is very weird I'm

not going to lie I've done the same

thing too I don't love the special

edition sticker I'm also US based so

it's much easier for me to get the

regular stickers versus the overseas

sticker that are everywhere else outside

the United States but just to let you

guys know there is no difference between

the actual pops it is just the sticker
