I tested the best five plagiarism
detectors to work out the best one for
you I looked at academic plagiarism and
also plagiarism that is found online so
the ones that I checked were this one
this one's duply Checker I used this one
then I used plagiarism detector uh then
I used uh searchengine reports.net their
plagiarism detector and then on.com I
was told this was pretty good and also
paper pal if you're a follower of this
channel you'll see me uh use paper pal a
lot and I want to see if one actually
designed for Academia does better so the
first thing I did is I wanted to make
sure that an original piece of work
wasn't flagged for plagiarism so I took
this which was where is it uh Nan Nano
composite electrodes it's this one so
this is a review paper that I was
working on during my PhD and post talks
and it was never ever published into the
world and I know it's not plagiarized
cuz I wrote it all on my own ages ago
and never submitted it so I wanted to
see if that one was uh flagged as
plagiarism and so I wanted to keep check
of everything and this is the table that
I'm going to show you and reveal bit by
bit so original text first of all let's
look at dup Checker dup Checker is
pretty good you just uh you know copy
and paste your stuff in all of these
free ones quite often have a 1,000w
limit so the first three do but uh uh
text.com and PayPal has a little bit
more of a generous limit but nonetheless
dup Checker and the first three all have
1, word limit so I put in the first um
uh what was it 517 words of that paper
and I want to see what happened so um
the results are shown down here and you
can see it's 0% plagiarism which is
great so that's there 0% plagiarism
brilliant now plagiarismdetector.net
same thing I had a look down and all of
the results where are they results
results results oh I I actually did it
but for some reason it's not coming up
but they were also zero another thing
with search engine reports so this one
is really for search engine optimization
but I found that it's actually sort of
recommended for academic type stuff as
well which is great so this is the
result down here and you can see that it
checks 100% plagiarism 0% so I'm going
to go in here and go Bonk perfect now
this is what I was interested in was
plagiarism Checker from
on.com so here we've got check for
plagiarism this was exactly the same
thing and you can see it's Unique 95.1
to and it did find a DOI which we can
click there oh oh proceed with this
address that's scary isn't it look at
that I'm not going to click on that but
uh look it says the tan um online thing
T and F online um has found a 4% um
similarity but which means this is
unique for
95.12% and I did the calculations cuz
I'm clever and and I found that that was
a 4.88 8% uh plagiarism which is you
know it's detected something which I
kind of like I never ever really trust
zeros I don't know why maybe it's just
because nothing is ever like
100% um plagiarism free just because of
the amount of stuff that's out there
nonetheless uh This was um in payer pal
and you can see so this was payer pal
you can see here similarity 26 to 32%
but the one thing I like about paper pal
is that you can get a report as well and
you can upgrade to Prime you can see all
of the stuff where it's found look it's
found a patent it's found the T and F
online which is what the other one found
so that was um plagiarism Checker from
on.com that's they found that as well
and yeah it found other stuff as well
and if you upgrade to Prime you get a
detailed report I've paid for stuff like
this in the past with detailed reports
this isn't part of this study but this
is the sort of stuff you can get if you
upgrade to Prime but the other stuff is
completely free so you don't even have
to upgrade to Prime to get the number of
the plagiarism but if you want the
details that's when they want your cold
hard cash so you do get there are a
similarity rating and you've got the
information where they found it so
that's a useful part of paper pal but
for this simple test we didn't need to
do that so you can see based on these
results so far that this is 26 to 32%
plagiarized potentially according to
paper pound I do like the fact that you
can go out and see the links okay we
won't go through all of the numbers one
by one but I want to show you what I did
um so academic plagiarism I actually
went in here and I decided to be a bit
meta a little bit wild and I decided
that I would take this introduction from
a paper about plagiarism to see if it
could pick up plagiarism that's
plagiarized from a plagiarism article
nice so uh I did exactly the same thing
I went to um jup cheer I went to
plagiarism detector I went to all of
these and these are the final results
I'm going to do it all in one drum roll
please all right so dupler Checker was
about 90% so 89% plagiarized which is
good so it is picking it up
plagiarismdetector.net
88% so it is good it is picking up
search engine reports plagiarism Checker
95% on tex.com plagiarism checker 63.63%
numbers 6363 and the one thing I love
about this is obviously paper palal is
made for Academia and therefore it's
completely found it it says 96 to 100%
plagiarized so if you're trying to
identify plagiarism from a paper from
peer-reviewed articles um you do want to
make sure that yeah you do have uh
something that is designed for that and
I think payer pal and any of the others
really did an okay job but this is
obviously available online the next step
for this would be to test whether or not
it can find um information in behind pay
walls uh that would be particularly
interesting and something you can test
on your own uh and then in this very
simple test the next thing I wanted to
test was website plagiarism so I found
this Forbes article and I decided I
would just populate it with about 500 or
so words of this just to see what
happens did exactly the same thing so
here we can see um dupler Checker has
got some results and it's found 93%
plagiarized and then we've got this one
plagiarismdetector.net
that one's this one okay so this is what
it looks like we've got 93% plagiarized
and then 7% NE and here we've got
plagiarism again so this is the
searchengine reports.net and this is the
result down here you can see it checked
100% and it's got zero oh no that's the
wrong one 100% plagiarism and it's got
0% unique and we did the same thing for
on tex.com you can see we've got 0% uh
unique which means it's 100% plagiarize
so we're going to put those in and the
last one that we want know about clearly
is Ed uh paper pal and you can see here
that it says it's got a 97 to 100%
chance of being plagiarized so those are
the simple results that I got from using
these plagiarism detectors I think that
uh going forward if I was to use one of
them clearly it would be payer palal
because payer palal has got a limit of
7,000 words I think that's a day um but
you can put a single file with up to
7,000 words unlike the other one ones
where you um have to put in 1,000 words
at a time now I did face a little bit of
an issue with one text.com like the
plagiarism detector where it does have a
limit but I did get around that by using
a VPN I don't know how it legal or uh
ethical that really is but you can get
around some of these daily limits that
these things set by using a VPN um and
yeah you can then obviously look at all
that one thing I like about on text.com
in particular is that you've got the
text versions down here so if you are
working on a bit of text that you want
to kind of like iterate and see if it
changes the percent plagiarize if you're
trying to get away from plagiarism um
then you can just use this tech text
version down here so once you start
typing you end up with a new text
version and then you can obviously check
for plagiarism and then you get this
kind of like running scale of how it
changed based on the changes you made so
I quite like that um but with the other
ones even though they all did a pretty
good job at detecting academic
plagiarism when it's sort of like
available online um and website
plagiarism um I still think that I like
payper palal the most so if you are
deciding to check your plagiarism use
payper palal another thing I really like
about it is the fact that it's got turn
it in down here so turn it in is used by
universities they've cornered the market
wait use us and um it's basically what
all universities are using to detect
plagiarism so I think you can be more
sure that the results here are aligned
with what would get flagged at a
university or an instit or an
educational institution so paper pal is
my favorite not only because you get a
massive word limit it's meant for
Academia and also um it's free for um up
to 7,000 words and it uses turn it in
which is very similar to what
universities use so that's my
recommendation great if you like this
video go check out this one where I talk
about the easiest way to bypass AI
content detection I think it'll be a
useful watch for you go check it out
