face plate so I'm calling it Optimus

hypothesized that that thing was a

Studio series Transformers 1 Optimus

ugly as everyone thought it was going to

be turns out Hasbro are just a bunch of

bald-faced Liars because that was not in

fact a problem with the way that the

Prototype looked they really did just

make this figure re yellowed oh man I

just love how this figure looks like I

dug it out of a smoker's bedroom really

ties the whole thing together making it

look like picking it up will make my

hands greasy I showed this thing to my

brother and he described the Plastics as

looking touched which is an amazing and

ominous way to say it I don't know what

you absolute were thinking with

this but you all need to get hockey

checked into a freeway divider so that

you learn that this is unacceptable do

not use this plastic color again because

it is absolutely ruining what could be a

cool looking robot mode about as

effectively as Beast Machines ruins all

the characters and yes this is almost

very cool it's wo and tough looking with

a cool new aesthetic for the prime

window boobs giving him more of a

Shockwave esque mono tit makes me think

that he can shoot some kind of chest

out the proportions on this thing are

powerful and the sculpt is really cool

however there are some unfortunately

weird aspects like the legs why does

this panel switch sides it puts a huge

slit down the back of the calvs to

achieve what because when you flip them

there is sculpting on the sides to imply

that you didn't is this part literally

just here to Pat out the transformation

step count it changes absolutely nothing

to do this and it only makes the knees

weirdly close together like Prime store

all of his weight in his calves or

exclusively does toe lifts it is a

completely pointless feature as

pointless as the stupid stinking colors

honestly I think my favorite thing to do

with this figure to just take a

transformation joint in the shoulders

and pop him into the stupidest tough guy

pose in the history of the universe all

of the energy of a come at me bro all of

the comfort of a I just my pants

the quality is mostly pretty solid with

the worst aspect being the underwear

wants to pop off and you know I didn't

think that they could make monok skirts

any worse since they were already

terrible but Hasbro must have heard

about my lack of confidence in their

ability to do that and they set out to

prove me wrong with all of their might

honestly I have to hand it to them

because they somehow ruined monok skirts

let me repeat that they ruined monok

skirts how do you ruin a turd how does

that become more turd than it already

was so instead of just hinging forward

like normal it's rotating from the back

so rather than just bending for his legs

to move through them anytime he steps

he's hiking his skirt up to air out his

bulge I never actually considered the

whole Optimus Prime as a pervert who

likes wearing a minis skirt over his

blue Speedo joke I like to make would

actually become canonically true yet

here we are with an official figure that

goes out of its way to avoid doing this

the normal way just so Optimist can live

out his school girl fantasies

kid kill me I want this image out of my

head this wants to look so cool and at

every turn it's slowly cleaving its own

legs out from under itself with a rusty

has to be some kind of self-degradation

strange about it it's it's slightly too

wide especially for the neck and there's

some strange catlike quality to it and

while reactivate Prime had that going on

at least he felt like he could Rend

every other version of him a new

this one just feels like a kid

cosplaying as Optimus like I can't hate

it for that he's clearly doing his best

with his papermache but my child could

you seriously not find white or even

regular gray paint I will say that this

does somehow feel a little more like

Prime than it does or Ryan Pax not

having seen the movie yet I don't know

maybe overb helmet is really all it

takes but the look of this figure is

overall pretty good with just some

really unfortunate decisions made for

essentially no reason like seriously

those colors looked like they were

scraped out of the inner rim of a toilet

and the legs appear to be transforming

for the sake of transforming not because

it actually does anything for the alt

mode and the hilarious thing is these

problems don't stem from this thing

being a deluxe like I don't think the

words they made it a deluxe instead of a

voyager so now it has more steps than it

needed to to transform is a phrase that

any human being has ever said plus the

monok skirt was designed by a truly

deranged person and that's got nothing

to do with a size class also this could

still be a deluxe if they chose a color

that didn't look like it was starting to

fester for the gray Parts even still I

mostly like the look of this if they

could just redeo the gray Parts I would

this is a pretty sweet looking design

even if it is just an Orion PA with a

face plate which isn't something I

normally go for I hate it when Orion Pax

is just Optimus Prime with a matrix it's

so lame Optimus should be a heavily

upgraded dude he should be like twice

the size way more swole and built for a

fight oryan Pax should be the skinny boy

you got a necklace that no one can see

hidden inside of your Robo tits is lame

as hell but even Lamer than that are

this thing's accessories well at least

one of them he comes with this thing

this thing is stupid and I hate it and

when I'm done with this video I will

throw whatever this thing is into the

trash I guess it's a gun or something

for his alt mode it's made of soft

rubber which makes it a pain to get in

and out and it looks like in alt

mode honestly I just kind of also hate

weaponized Al modes if you ain't a

military vehicle you shouldn't get to

shoot from your vehicle form it makes

fights more interesting when not

everyone can do all the same stuff he

comes with his shoulder Stacks which I

guess he can use as pistols disgusting

he comes with his laser axe I've never

cared about this thing and I still don't

this is also blast effect compatible but

I think the cheaper version of this dude

came with a cooler one of these with the

way that the axe is blasting out of his

palm whereas this is just a traditional

energy bulb at the bottom lastly he's

got a matrix of leadership another one

for the cereal bowl but this is a new

one holy crap how did both of these have

new versions it's kind of stupid the way

this works is by having protrusions that

plug into the sides of the fists and boy

does that not look like he's holding it

in any way shape or form but at least

it's different so this thing comes with

a lot which is impressive for a deluxe

figure it's just you know the truck gun

is lame as hell the shoulder pipes are

normally not an accessory just a piece

of sculpting and I'm sure that most

people are going to continue treating

them that way the axe was done better

one figure ago and at this point we have

a million figures that come with

matrixes then for posability it's pretty

good head has all of the up in the world

way more than most Flyers yet a really

strong side to side a full swivel and a

separate joint for all of your awkward

seal Optimus Prime meme needs he's got

hot rod shoulders that can pull a full

90 with forwards butterflies and this

weird freak joint assembly in the arms

that lets you fake a backwards butterfly

and fake far more normal non-hot Rod

shoulders for a lot of poses plus they

really extend the forwards range on the

butterflies allowing the arm to get

further across the chest normal 90

elbows wrist swive hike the skirt up and

the legs are unimpeded forwards and

slightly to the sides and back a bit

more than 90 knees and feet with a toe

down and a strong rocker so this is

actually pretty good despite the hot rod

shoulders the arms weird complex inner

joints really let you diminish the

negative qualities of that sin against

posability though sadly it does still

hamper the articulation in multiple ways

outside that though this has more range

in most joints than normal and is

capable of some pretty Dynamic poses as

for transformation the Torso is very fun

and very satisfying doing some pretty

cool stuff and the legs aren't yeah the

Torso isn't free of frustration getting

the truck Grill down is a mild pain

since it's really hard for you to get

your fingers at it but the bed of the

alt mode is just cancerous the legs just

have way too much flex and twist and you

have like no control over them even if

you gra Parts directly they just don't

want to do what you need them to which

makes it so that way Parts get

misaligned and you have to undo steps to

get access to the hips to spin them

where they need to go and then there's

the fact that the entire leg section

makes you go no no no no that that can't

be it like there is nothing going on

here you just Peg the legs together and

then you have the hands grip pegs along

the sides and that's basically it and

the result kind of sucks how does the

$20 version look better than this this

isn't a robot in Disguise this is a

robot in a thin veneer this thing is so

see-through it's practically transparent

Opus Prime if you was shot a dozen times

by a shot gun what the actual it

doesn't matter what angle I look at this

from I can see the ground straight

through it in a dozen places this is a

deluxe figure that couldn't work as an

eye patch because it doesn't matter how

close I get to it I can still see the

light and let's not ignore the fact that

the hands are literally just chilling

out on the sides they are doing nothing

they're pegged in but there's no reason

to do that you can flip those panels

back away and it looks basically exactly

as good I mean this mold rolls pretty

well but who the cares when it

looks like this the alt mode is about

20% complete and look just don't buy

this thing for the first figure that

Hasbro's ever gone no this needs to

always be on shelves so you can get it

because everyone's going to want one

this is an absolute travesty there are

good points here the robot mode has a

really cool sculpt the posability is

better than most deluxes by a solid

margin the transformation has a very fun

first half but The Deco is abysmal the

monos skirt is the worst one anyone's

ever made and that's really saying

something the legs have pointless

transformation joints that just make

them look worse the accessories are

plentiful but also kind of sucky the hot

rod shoulders while better than normal

are still just hot rod shoulders the

transformation has a really good first

half but that also means that the other

half isn't the legs are just tragically

bad doing nothing to an insulting degree

because they didn't try and also being

more frustrating than that should imply

and then the alt mode is just the

translucent ghost of Optimus Prime I

mean this I have never seen a Mainline

figure half this gapy core classes have

more convincing alt modes I think that a

lot of you will actually still have a

lot of fun with this thing some of you

may even love it but I also think that

this is an insult to you this is a half

finish figure at best that they left in

the pre- yellowed tool room gray and

filled with a whole lot of ideas that

needed 10 times to development a quarter

baked toy that needed way more time in

the oven but I guess it needed to come

out in time for the movie at least

that's why I think that they let

something like this out the door this is

not unfinished this is unstarted and

hesitation who I swear I've done before

but oh no don't make me talk about one

of the best figures of all time Titans

return trigger happy rules so hard and

recommendation of a figure this thing is

I guess maybe a third a sick fast look

one of the best Transformations ever

fast cool and clever and the alt mode is

a blue version of the Galaga ship what

more could you possibly want it's

endlessly fun and awesome it's a

Headmaster that I still recommend if you

don't have one buy one you will not

regret it one of my favorite figures of

all time and that's not half what it to

say but it's enough with to say and I
