Q & A

  • What is 'commission breath' and why is it important when attracting affiliates?

-Commission breath refers to focusing on and emphasizing the commissions and financial incentives when pitching to potential affiliates. This matters because affiliates are primarily motivated by earning commissions, so you need to speak that language and have commission breath when attracting them.

  • What percentage of affiliate marketers are actually skilled at affiliate marketing?

-Only about 1% of affiliate marketers are truly skilled at it. The other 99% may be interested but often don't have the right skills or commitment to promote products effectively.

  • What are some effective ways to incentivize affiliates?

-You can incentivize affiliates by providing pre-made emails, images, and other promotional materials to make it easy for them. You can also create contests which give affiliates a reason to take action and promote your products.

  • What was the affiliate marketing strategy Russell used effectively?

-Russell created a free training program teaching people how to become an affiliate marketer, but he used his own products as examples throughout the training. This helped recruit many people from the program to become affiliates for his products.

  • What are some affiliate marketplaces you can use to find potential affiliates?

-Some major affiliate marketplaces where you can list your product for affiliates to find include ClickBank, Warrior Forum, Commission Junction, Impact, etc.

  • Why create your own affiliate training course?

-Creating your own free affiliate marketing course allows you to teach people affiliate marketing while showcasing your products. This auto-recruits affiliates from people taking the course.

  • What percentage of the creator's revenue came from affiliates at one point?

-When one of the creator's products hit $1 million in revenue, about 20% or $200,000 came from affiliates.

  • What is the key difference in messaging between your customers and your affiliates?

-The messaging for customers focuses on solving their problem or need. The messaging for affiliates focuses on financial incentives and commissions.

  • Why is managing an affiliate program challenging?

-Managing an affiliate program requires a lot of time and effort in recruiting, providing assets and incentives, running contests, analyzing data, and more. It is not a passive set-it-and-forget-it kind of system.

  • What is the main qualification the creator looks for in affiliates?

-The main qualification is that affiliates should be experienced and competent, as evaluating and managing a large group of unskilled affiliates requires substantial effort.

😊 How to find and incentivize affiliate marketers to promote your product

This paragraph explains that you should not try to get friends and family to promote your product. Instead, Russell Brunson's example of creating a free Affiliate Bootcamp training program is discussed, where he taught people how to become an affiliate for his products by using them as examples. The key ideas are having 'commission breath' when speaking to potential affiliates by focusing on the money, treating affiliate recruitment as a sales process, and understanding there is a huge gap in skill level between most affiliates and the top 1% that drive most of the results.

05:02

😃 Use contests and pre-made assets to incentivize lazy affiliates to take action

This paragraph emphasizes that most affiliates are lazy, so contests should be used to incentivize action. Pre-made emails, images and tools should be provided to make it as easy as possible for affiliates to promote the product. Russell's technique of creating a free affiliate marketing course that uses his own products as examples is recommended, as it trains people on affiliate marketing while auto-recruiting affiliates. Putting products on affiliate marketplaces like ClickBank also allows existing affiliates to easily find and promote them.

Transcripts

play00:00

How to find affiliate marketers for your product? Now, I'm going to really encourage you to not go

play00:04

the maybe, "I can list family and  friends to sell my product for me."

play00:08

Don't go that route. I'm going to teach you  in this video, how I went to find the right people

play00:12

who actually wanted to sell my  products for me, let's dive in.

play00:24

Now, the first time I ever saw some of these  principles I'm going to walk through with

play00:26

you here. I actually was working at clickfunnels  and I was, I'd only been there for probably two

play00:30

or three months and Russell was working on the  next iteration of a product that he has called,

play00:35

Affiliate Bootcamp, and he asked me if I wanted  to go in and create some videos, some strategic

play00:39

videos on how certain affiliate marketing you  know tactics and strategies, and it was really

play00:44

apparent to me that those affiliates who took that  training. There was a there's a wide divide between

play00:50

the new people who really didn't understand  this stuff and they're like, "Of course, people

play00:53

are going to want to go promote my stuff for me."  There's a big divide between those people who

play00:58

wanted to go sell it, who needed to go sell it,  who were experienced to who honestly really

play01:03

didn't know what they were doing. What I  got to witness was Russell attract people to him

play01:10

to pitch his products. It was really fascinating,  I'm going to teach you more about that over these

play01:14

quick principles. This first principle  here is really about having commission

play01:18

breath, alright. You ever heard that phrase  before? If you are talking with a salesperson

play01:23

and they're not really listening to. They have what  is sometimes called commission breath. When you're

play01:27

talking to affiliates, you need to have commission  breath. If you're trying to attract people to come

play01:32

to you, to sell your product, have commission breath.  That's why they're there, they want to know about

play01:37

the money. They want to know how much they're going  to get if they sell your product. They want to know

play01:41

if there's going to be usually what is called,  a 2nd Tier Affiliate Commission. They want

play01:44

to know those things. You need to have commission breath. Selling people to

play01:50

sell your products. Selling people who will  then sell your products is sales. You have to sell

play01:57

good affiliates to come sell your product for you. That's a big key thing to understand with this,

play02:01

it is sales. The same thing that you're doing to  sell a customer to buy your product. You're selling

play02:06

people on using their time money and attention  to sell your product for them. Both are sales and

play02:11

until you think of it that way you probably  aren't going to get good affiliates to come

play02:14

promote for you. Understand that an affiliate is  motivated by commissions. So, you got to have that

play02:18

commission breath and you need to start selling  because that's the language that they talk in.

play02:22

They're salespeople just like you as an  entrepreneur, you're in sales. So are they as an

play02:27

affiliate marketer, they're a salesperson  and so, what they want to know is exactly what's

play02:32

in it for them. That might feel weird because it's  a different language than you speak to your

play02:37

actual product customers. Your actual product  customers, you're solving a different problem for

play02:41

them. But if you start trying to get this big batch  of people to come sell your thing. You're speaking,

play02:45

you got to speak a different language. You're not  speaking the same language as what it takes to

play02:48

talk to your customers. You're talking money. Now, this might sound weird but I like to longboard

play02:53

a lot. Longboarding is so fun you know, on the road,  road longboard. Longboarding is one of those skills

play02:59

though that is really easy to pick up. But the  gap between beginner and expert is huge. You know

play03:06

what I'm saying? It's like I started playing the  ukulele. It's really easy to play that instrument.

play03:11

Like pretty good out of the gate. But the gap  between like it's a low barrier to entries is for

play03:17

you know in terms of skill. But the barrier between  beginner and expert is massive. Affiliate marketing

play03:23

is no different. It is very easy to become an  affiliate marketer and it's actually really easy

play03:28

to get a massive pot of people who say they want  to promote for you. But the chasm between those

play03:35

new people and the real experienced affiliate  marketers that you really want promoting you

play03:40

is gigantic. It's way more than an 80/20 principle.  I'm gonna say like, one percent of affiliate

play03:45

marketers are actually really good at it. The rest  of them are just people who don't have a product

play03:50

and they think that being an affiliate marketer is  somehow easier okay.So what I'm telling you,

play03:55

you're looking at how to find people to promote  your thing for you. Understand that you kind of

play04:00

have to hunt down the big ones. You kind of  have to hunt down the big the serious affiliate

play04:05

marketers that actually understand how to play  the game. Because 99% of affiliate people who come...

play04:10

I'm saying this because for 2 or 3 years  I had maybe it's probably 10 to 20 people a week,

play04:16

asked to be an affiliate for me and of all of that  I had maybe, I don't know, 10 do anything. It's like

play04:25

total, they made a lot of money. But we had  to sift through a ton of people to find those

play04:31

bit. That's why I'm saying that okay. So just be  aware if you're trying to find people to promote

play04:34

your product. You're gonna need a thousand people  that say they want to because they commission

play04:38

breath, "Oh, I smell it." It's like, yeah. You're getting all these people coming

play04:43

in yeah, of course, I want to go promote the thing  and sell that thing. But it's not, you can go

play04:47

through them. You got to hunt down the real ones  though and be willing to sift through that and

play04:52

go through that. That's part of the game. We  played that game for several years and

play04:57

then we're like, you know what, we're done sifting.  Let's just not do it anymore. But some of you

play05:01

are like, "I want affiliates that's gonna be part of  my major strategy. I need other people selling my

play05:05

product." That's fine, be aware of the fact that what  I just told you though. Tons of people, "Yeah, but the

play05:10

actual reality is affiliates are usually pretty  lazy", and you gotta incentivize them

play05:15

like crazy. That's why we write pre-made emails  and pre-made images and put together pre-made...

play05:20

and load them with all these tools.  Because it increases the chances of

play05:25

doing something right promoting it all. One of  the best ways that you can get people to actually

play05:29

take action while you're sifting through is to  create contests. Just start creating contests.

play05:35

That's a reason for them to act. You're giving  people a reason and that is very, you have to

play05:39

manage this. I'm telling you, this because a lot of  people ask how we got such a big affiliate army.

play05:44

It is a management, I don't know, it's a lot. You gotta put a lot of time and effort energy

play05:49

into managing an affiliate program. It's not  this just like sit back on the beach laptop

play05:53

lifestyle kind of a thing. You gotta manage a good  affiliate program. Before I get into the third

play05:58

principle third and final principle of this.  Please go and hit the like button subscribe.

play06:03

Let me know what you think about this. I'd actually  love to know what you've done. It'd be kind of

play06:08

cool if everyone kind of pitched in. What have  you all done to get affiliates to promote for you?

play06:12

We kind of create a bank of cool information  down below in the comments. What is it that you've

play06:16

done that's got the coolest affiliate group to  you, to actually promote for you? Alright, I'm

play06:21

gonna give you one of the biggest tricks ever. It was so fun to watch, it was so fun to be a part

play06:26

of it. This first story I told you about Russell  building a training about how to be an affiliate.

play06:31

Guess what he actually did? He said, "Hey, marketplace.  You want to learn how to be an affiliate for free?".

play06:36

He created a free program. Guess what all  of the examples were? His own products.

play06:42

He trained people how to be an affiliate marketer  for them. He taught them how he's an affiliate

play06:48

but all of his examples were using clickfunnels  products. What do you think happened? He created

play06:53

an affiliate army out of people who are not  planning on being an affiliate. I watched

play06:57

the magic of that and I was like, "We gotta go do  the same thing." So I created a program it was free

play07:02

for a while, it's no longer, it's a dollar. It's  called, Affiliate Outrage and Affiliate Outrage has

play07:07

brought tens of thousands of people through in the  last two or three years. But all my examples

play07:12

are with our products. Well, what do you think that  did? It was a free killer 30-day program. It was a

play07:18

really awesome amazing program, and what that did  is it brought a massive list of people coming in.

play07:24

But since I'm using our products as examples.  A percentage of them became affiliates for us and

play07:29

we're just auto recruiting this massive army. It's one of the easiest ways to go do this.

play07:34

Think about any kind of like a sales company. They do something very similar. Like, if you're

play07:40

bringing in salespeople, if you're bringing in  phone people. They often will say here's the course

play07:44

to go through to be successful selling our product.  You're doing the exact same thing. Here's the

play07:48

course to go through to be successful selling a  product. The difference is we made ours free

play07:52

for a time it was free and that brought a big pot  of people coming in and I'll tell you that when

play07:57

one of my is my second product hit a million  dollars and it was a few years ago and it was

play08:03

cool to watch. That of the million in revenue.  I think about 200 grand was from affiliates doing

play08:08

exactly what I'm telling you right here. I taught them how to affiliate my products,

play08:14

general principles. But it was my things were the  examples. Strongly encourage you to do the same.

play08:18

I was about to end the video and I realized  there's one more thing I want to teach you that's

play08:21

kind of a sweet hack. I love affiliate marketing  and I know more about it than I think I did,

play08:26

and one of the ways to go find killer affiliates  is there are really cool platforms out there that

play08:32

literally attract people to put their product  on for other affiliates to go find. So, if you're

play08:37

trying to find people to promote for you. Put  your product on a service like ClickBank.

play08:42

ClickBank is hundreds of thousands of products  that affiliate can go to and say, "You know what,

play08:47

I want to affiliate for that", and they just grab  their affiliate link. It's really cool because

play08:50

it attracts like literally, there's hundreds of  thousands of affiliate products on ClickBank.

play08:56

Some of the top ones are making 10, 20 even more  grand a day. It's a massive, it's not a new

play09:03

thing at all. I kind of feel like it's... I don't know it's almost like Facebook in some

play09:07

terms of pro affiliate marketers. So, I would go  to a place like warrior forum, that's another one.

play09:12

I'd go to ClickBank, I'd go to and what you  start doing is put your product on affiliate

play09:16

marketplaces and big affiliates are watching  them and so, that's one of the easiest ways to

play09:21

also feel like, "Steve, I don't want to go create a  course around this." That's totally fine. I regret,

play09:24

I strongly recommend it like, I was just talking  about. But another fast hack is just to go in

play09:28

and start putting your product on other affiliate  marketplaces, they'll come to you. That's probably

play09:32

the only time that phrase is true. Hey guys, thanks  for watching. I have a really cool free gift and it

play09:38

is a small mini-course that will walk you through  more of my affiliate strategies. As you can see, I'm

play09:42

really into affiliate marketing, it is not actually  the core of my business but it's been one of the

play09:47

greatest lead creators for what I actually sell.  If you want to learn how I actually go create

play09:52

really powerful affiliate programs. Both for me  promoting, getting people to promote, and the simple

play09:58

automation that I kind of in some ways made up on  a few places. It's free, it's a free mini class.

play10:03

Go to makeaffiliatesgreatagain.com and the 5 day  free mini-course will get sent to you for free.
