to Oregon um and was able to see it and

you know be at the facility talk through

things um you know I think it was it was

one that I couldn't pass up and um like

I said you know having conversations in

alignment immediately and you know being

in my year knowing what's real and

what's not um it was it was one that I

saw right away and had to make decision

thing they want to see Deon Brown play

in the Bon B I'm assuming that was a big

fact you do want to wait right you for

sure I I think going through you know my

third recruiting process uh you know I I

know it's a stressful time for anyone

and anyone who's transferred although

there's you know Beauty in it with new

beginnings and all that everyone knows

the stress and uh you know a lot that

comes with it you know whether it's the

moving the the moving companies the

moving again uh there's just a lot that

comes with it so uh you know the faster

you can make a decision and feel good

about it you know be decisive then it

allows you to act accordingly with that

said how crazy how crazy is to think two

big 12 quarterbacks last year could be

going against each other on October the

12th you know with Will Howard sitting

there I mean is that go ahead yeah I

think it's you know to me I it's

different in college football because it

is new but I I also believe you know in

the NFL it was one league and you know

Payton went from Indiana or Indianapolis

Colts to the Denver Broncos and you know

it was different but life moved on you

know and uh to me I just think like I

said the the less disparity uh between

the NFL and college whether it's like

the you know inh helmet communication

tablets on the

sideline some sort of free agency that

we're talking about um I I just think

that uh

it it'll be better for the players and

adjusting to the next level several of

us are from the Columbus area who

standing here in front of you right now

how how do you look at this season and

not at least Peak toward Ohio State on

October the 12th everybody nationally is

looking at that a huge Showdown Game you

as a player how do you keep that

perspective yeah I think you keep it in

perspective is you know you still got to

play the games beforehand and um you

know of course there's matchups that

everyone looks forward to and um I think

that's what makes it fun about college

football um but you know each week you

have to go out and produce you know it's

a production based Sport and what have

you done for me lately and uh you know

that's why you know living in the now

living in the moment um will be really

good for the players and you know that's

part of your guys job of of getting

ahead and getting it right for us and

getting all the excitement going so um I

appreciate you guys doing that do you

know you know do you know will Howard at

all I do so I uh of course the big 12 uh

no new of them you know playing the

first year against them and then second

year we didn't play against each other

but knew of them and then met at the

Manning camp this year um but you know

very familiar with this game due to just

watching you know whether it's when he

was playing at K State um and opponents

we'd watch you know we we'd have you

know film from their you describe think

him asack no extremely talented uh you

know I think he does a great job of you

know running the football and and

throwing the ball uh great command and

has done a great job you know at K State

and

um you know it' be exciting you know

those are the type of match ups you look

forward to and uh you know that week

rolls around so coach said youling with

him recently what's been the process

kind of off the field of getting to know

him first time as people and other

things done together yeah um you know it

was the the dinners at his house um the

golf um you know just having that time

together uh you know meetings in his

office just about life ball everything

in between uh um you know you just

appreciate a guy like that you know him

being younger I think he understands the

younger generation um and is able to

connect with us well uh and he does a

good job of it but he's real he's

authentic he's genuine in the way he

communicates I think that allows us to

be vulnerable um and you know that's why

that respect and relationships are there

so um I appreciate him you know as a

defensive minded head coach he

appreciates the relationship with the

quarterback uh and you know also

realizes that that's important you know

as well as it's important to me so uh

whether we're playing nine at ECC or you

know in the office just chopping it up

you know I appreciate him you know a

whole

preseason yeah I think all that is you

know it it is what it is you know talk

is cheap and and hype is cheap for you

know for players in the sense that you

happens preseason doesn't necessarily

affect anything you know when season

truth is you know when we when we line

it up and the clock starts kickoff you

know hits we're we're rolling you know

and uh you you have to produce and it's

what have you done for me lately you

communication things are we making too

much of the travel or are you concerned

of like Hey we're going to be logging a

lot of miles this year what are some of

the maybe recovery things you guys

talking about yeah I think uh you know

that's real cuz it's like I said new so

it's going to be different but um for

the most part I I always think you know

that's even another parallel of you know

the NFL you know whether it's you know

the Chargers playing New England

Patriots you know they're they're going

to have to travel and uh that's kind of

part of it but um I think you know

organizations programs have been doing

the right thing of you know

communicating uh of how you know other

people travel or maybe it's traveling a

day earlier or two um and and I think

that will help but you know we did it

with bowl games you know people just got

out there a week earlier and and we're

able to so you know teams are going to

be playing in Ireland teams are going to

be playing you know here in the states

regardless I I think it's just how you

prepare on the front end to help you

know athletes coaches everyone

involved too right that too speaking of

travel uh I just want to test your big

10 geography real quick y do you know

what State Purdue is Indiana okay good

job 10 out of 12 from the West Coast

players really 10 out of 12 Washington

let you guys

down uh is it have you been in Indiana

before for anything

um I have not I have not do you do you

know anything about Purdue and and

because you guys are having to learn I

guess for you it's going to be that way

anyway moving conferences but as a

program you have to start learning from

these about these opponents from scratch

right yeah I think

uh to to be quite honest you know that's

kind of reminds you of like a

non-conference schedule uh for the first

time uh of learning uh new people but um

for the most part there are some

benefits you know for for that as well

in terms of you know not knowing each

other's DNA and uh you know the history

of it but you know also you know it it

just comes with new territory and you

adjust um you make adjustments you know

year to year and you you roll with them
