Transcripts
So, Yinlin, the new 5-star Electro DPS is finally out and after playing with her for a while,
there’s a lot of things that surprised me about her and today I am gonna be going over how to
build Yinlin and play her, so that you can beat some of the hardest content in the game.
So, let’s start with the most important part of the video, what kind of potential Yinlin
has and how do her abilities work. Now I’ll be using her with the Void Thunder set to showcase
her abilities and damage but keep in mind Moonlit set is also a very viable option as well and I’ll
talk about this more in her build section of the video. Also, just look at these stats she has – I
got extremely lucky with the substat rolls. Now starting with the Basic Attacks – it’s
a 4-string combo and the damage won’t be big here, at least compared to the rest
of her kit but we can also see that her 3rd and 4th hit have a pretty long animation,
so you can do swap cancel on them when needed. And as for her Heavy Attack – it’s not great,
I don’t recommend using it at least not UNTIL she has her Forte Gauge full,
which I’ll talk about in a moment. Now Yinlin’s skill is very interesting – when
you cast it, she deals pretty great damage with it and then up to 4 times,
when using her Basic Attacks, she can trigger this coordinated attack called “Electromagnetic
Blast”… it’s pretty small damage, nothing amazing but it does help build up her Forte Gauge faster.
But here’s the unique part – you can actually cast the skill again,
to deliver a ton more damage compared to the 1st skill tap, however, the animation is very long,
so it’s also recommended to swap out in quick swap teams. However, one thing to keep in mind is that
if you swap out after first time you use the skill and then swap back, the skill will go on cooldown,
so those of you who are coming from CBT2, basically she got nerfed here. But I would
say in most quick swap teams, you will just quickly use her skill 2 times , maybe use a
couple of basic attacks and then swap out to mitigate the 2nd skill tap’s animation.
Now her skill can also obtain 2 Inherent Abilities – the first one gives 15% Critical
Rate for 5 seconds after using the skill Magnetic Roar, which is the first tap of the skill and
this is a great buff for her for those who will want to play her in Quick Swap teams.
Then the next Inherent Ability increases the skill’s 2nd tap damage by 10% but only when
hitting enemies who have Sinner’s Mark, although this will usually happen naturally and then her
ATK also increases by 10% for 4 seconds. So, in a nutshell – you press the skill,
she gains 15% Critical Rate, press it again and now she also deals 10% more DMG and gains 10% ATK.
Ok, now let’s talk about the best part of her kit – the Forte Circuit. Essentially, whenever Yinlin
attacks enemies with her Normal Attacks, Resonance Liberation and Intro skill, they will gain this
Sinner’s Mark as you can see here. And as you already know, this Sinner’s Mark is important
for Yinlin to trigger coordinated attacks of her skill and to gain that inherent ability bonus.
However, she can also build up her Forte Gauge you can see above her HP and the points she gains here
are called Judgement points. She can gain these points with Basic Attacks and by utilizing the
both taps of the skill as well as the coordinated damage coming from it. Once the Forte Gauge is
full, you can hold the attack button to perform “Chameleon Cipher” attack – a really cool looking
ability, which will deal a ton of damage and more importantly – any enemies who had Sinner’s Mark
on them will now be transformed into Punishment Mark, which is going to look like this, a cool
triangle or whatever. Now while the enemies have this Punishment Mark, for 18 seconds, whenever
ANYONE in the team deals damage to the marked enemies a coordinated attack called Judgement
Strike will deal A LOT of damage to them… and this can happen every 1 second. Seriously,
this is the best thing about Yinlin because while she’s off-field, she can still deliver a huge
amount of off-field damage with these Judgement Strikes. And as far as I am aware, this Judgement
Strike is treated as Resonance Skill DMG. Also, what’s interesting is that if for example
multiple enemies have this mark, you only need to hit 1 of them and then all get struck by Judgement
Strike, so Yinlin’s AoE potential is quite insane. But yeah, then we have her Resonance Libneration
also known as Ultimate which is the famous jiggle physics that made everyone go mad for
her. And it’s a pretty simple Ultimate to be honest, it deals 7 big hits in a
wide area and costs 125 Energy. Finally, there’s also her Intro
and Outro skills. Her Intro is like what most characters have – when swapped to her,
she delivers 10 total hits for decent amount of damage and of course, like the other abilities
in her kit, also restores Concerto Energy, which is needed to trigger her Outro skill.
Speaking of which… the Outro is pretty insane for Electro team mates. When she performs it,
the next character you swap to, will have their Electro and Resonance Liberation will be amplified
by 20 and 25% respectively. So Calcharo mains and even Yuanwu enjoyers will love this. In fact,
since she boosts Liberation Damage, any character can utilize this who
has a good Ultimate, like Havoc Rover. But, there’s a big BUT here… Outro skills
have been nerfed, so this amplification bonus will be lost if you swap out with
the character. For example, you do Yinlin’s Outro, swap to Calcharo and then you do his first Death
Messenger and and by this point after swapping out , he has lost Yinlin’s Outro buff. So,
you cannot do all those quick swapping shenanigans, like swap cancelling Calcharo’s
Death Messenger and still retain the Outro buff for whole duration. It’s kinda sad but I will
also talk about this more in the teams section. But yeah, that’s basically the entire Yinlin’s
kit. In a nutshell, she can do off-field damage by first marking the enemies and then using her Heavy
Attack when the Forte Gauge is full, to apply Judgement Marks so then anyone can trigger the
coordinated attacks but at the same time, she can also dish out a lot of damage in a short duration,
like using her skills, intro and ultimate. In fact, there are a few
rotations how you can play her. If you want to utilize everything before
swapping from her, then you can do a rotation of her Intro, followed by Ultimate, then Skill and
then you use her basic attack 4 times, tap the skill for the 2nd time, then hold down attack to
trigger her Forte Gauge, which by now should be full and then finally use her Echo and swap out.
There are some variations, for example, if you swap in and her Ultimate is still not up,
then skip Ultimate and do the rest of the rotation before the Ultimate is ready…
Or if you’re playing her in Quick Swap teams, which again I’ll showcase in teams section,
then you want to swap cancel any long animations she has.
Ok, so I have some good news and bad news. The good news – she has a fairly simple build. The
bad news? Her weapons choices are ehhh kinda limiting, with no great options for F2P players,
except for a few special cases. What do I mean by this? Well,
if we take a look at her signature Stringmaster, it provides insane amount of Critical Rate from
the substat and the passive is also absolutely disgusting, this weapon compared to her 2nd best
option Cosmic Ripples, can deal between 12 to 30% better damage, which is nuts.
And yeah, then there’s Cosmic Ripples, which is more or less a stat stick, providing a ton of ATK
and Energy Regen from the passive, while the Basic Attack buffing here is uhhh… not super relevant.
Then the next option would be the Battle Pass weapon Augment, which at full refinement can
be almost as good as Cosmic Ripples if not better in some cases and even with no
refinements it’s a very solid option to go for if you cannot pull on Yinlin’s weapon banner.
And then, the 4th option is Jinzhou Keeper… It’s alright, definitely lags
behind the other 3 options and its still a gacha weapon if you want to max refine it.
But… what to use if you don’t have any of these rectifiers? Honestly,
while the options are not great, you could use either the Voyager for faster Ultimates
which can be great in Quick Swap teams or go for Recrifier of Night, which is more or less just an
ATK stat stick but you know, it’s a 3-star weapon. I mean, you could also go for the 4-star craftable
Rectifier #25… I still can’t believe the names these weapons have but yeah, essentially her
best options are either obtained from the gacha system or bought from the battle pass.
However, if you didn’t open the Ranger’s Series Weapon Supply Chest, you could get the Jinzhou
Keeper from it or… wait until you’re Union Level 45 and obtain Cosmic Ripples from it.
Now the good part – her build. Basically, you can go for either Moonlit Clouds set along with
Impermanence Heron as the active Echo, so this set can be used as a way to buff the next damage
dealer you swap to or go for Void Thunder set with either Tempest Mephis or Thundering
Mephis. Tempest has faster animations but Thundering Mephis provides better buffs,
however the animation is much longer. And I would say go for Moonlit set if
you want her to be more flexible because then you can play her in a lot of different teams and it’s
also possible someone like Calcharo on your team might already have Void Thunder set, so farming
for a 2nd set is less efficient if using them together and it’s better to have Moonlit set,
which you can reuse in Tower of Adversity. Now for the stats – if using Stringmaster or
Augment weapons, definitely worth considering to go for Critical Damage main stat on the boss echo,
otherwise Critical Rate is the best choice and then for 3-cost Echoes – both should have Electro
DMG but sometimes it’s kinda worth going for Energy Regen… but it’s better to obtain it from
substats or weapons. And then for 1-cost echoes, obviously get ATK% main stat on both of them. So
yeah, just use the usual 43311 cost echoes. Now for substat priority – you definitely
want to get Critical Rate and Damage if possible, then ATK%, then Energy Regen and then Resonance
Skill DMG Bonus because about 50% of her total damage comes from Resonance Skill. But Resonance
Liberation DMG Bonus won’t hurt either. Except for the fact it will make your echoes look ugly.
And then regarding how much Energy Regen she needs – well, more or less, she wants 130% as a sweet
spot, because her Ultimate does deliver a lot of damage and it’s worth using it whenever possible,
so with 130% Energy Regen, in most teams, she will be able to use the Ultimate quite consistently.
Oh and of course, you can mitigate some of these choices if you don’t have them, like using ATK%
3-cost echo and going double 2 set with either Void Thunder, Lingering Tunes or Moonlit set.
So, if you ask your average Yinlin enjoyer, they might tell you she’s a sub dps. No wait,
she’s a main dps. Wait, maybe she’s a burst dps? Honestly? She’s a DPS unit that can be utilized
both in quick swap and hypercarry teams. Now, obviously the most hyped-up team is
with Calcharo. Sadly, since the way how the Outro works has been nerfed in the game,
doing that whole quickswapping shenanigans between Yinlin and Calcharo is no longer feasible. I mean,
it still works but now, the field time for Calcharo has increased if you want to
maintain that insane Outro buff Yinlin provides to him but in some scenarios it can still work,
for example, you can do a swap cancel on Calcharo after the 1st or 2nd death messenger and also,
most of the time, when you swap to him, he will unleash his Ultimate as well with that juicy
Yinlin’s Outro buff. So, keep this in mind when deciding if you want to pull for her.
And as for the best team variation – Verina works best both for Yinlin and Calcharo but
you could also use Baizhi for less efficient buffing or go with Jianxin who is equipped
with Rejuvenating set and the Originite gauntlet which can trigger the set’s bonus.
However, the beauty of Yinlin is that she can be used in a lot of cool quick swap teams. Now this
means, you won’t spend the whole time on the field unloading the whole combo I showed you earlier and
instead, you want to utilize her damage and swap out whenever there’s a long animation that she
needs to do. For example, her 3rd and 4th Basic Attacks, the 2nd time you need to press the skill,
the moment you hold down the attack to perform the Forte Gauge ability are all the times you
can swap cancel. I will say that for example, Thundering Mephis as her active echo has a very
long animation but the damage is really good and on the last hit, it also buffs Yinlin with Electro
and ultimate DMG boost, so it is worth waiting for the animation to finish but in endgame content,
you might need to swap cancel this animation to avoid getting hit for lethal damage.
Anyway, so some teams that are really amazing with quickswap Yinlin would be Encore and
Jianxin or Verina. Jianxin of course wants to use the Rejuvenating Set with Bell Echo
and Originite Glove to provide all the boosting for the team and I would say, in endgame content
its not worth building up her shield because its just takes too long, so just utilize the
Outro buff she provides and the Rejuvenating set bonus she can apply on the team as well as
the Ultimate which can gather up the enemies. Now as for Encore – swap cancel her skills and
when you use her Ultimate, usually you just want to quickly build up the Forte Gauge and
do the Heavy Attack and swap out, since it takes a really long time to charge up.
And yeah, then there’s also Havoc Rover variation team you can see here, again support can be Verina
or Jianxin or Baizhi. But with Rover, you just want to always make sure to use her Ultimate
and then Dreamless echo, so it can then do a lot more damage but when Dreamless is on cooldown,
its fine to just spam the skill and few attacks. Basically, Yinlin is very flexible and can be
utilized in many teams, not just comps with Electro damage dealers. I will say, though,
if you play her as a hypercarry, the options quite limited, so maybe a future unit can help
with that. But if anything changes, I’ll let you know in the comments.
Now before I give my thoughts about Yinlin, here’s a quick recap on whether you should go
for her Sequences or Signature weapon. Basically, her sequences are good, like the first sequence
boosts her skill’s damage by 70%, which are those 2 taps you do but not the coordinated attacks,
which is nice and then the 2nd sequence helps her gain 5 Energy points and 5 Judgement points for
the Forte Gauge, so a good upgrade for quick swap teams. Now 3rd sequence is really juicy,
the damage multiplier of Judgement strike is improved by 55%, so basically at current max
level we can reach, its double the damage and then the 4th sequence makes it so that those
Judgement Strikes now provide a big 20% ATK boost for the whole team for 12 seconds. Then,
5th sequence improves Ultimate damage by 100% when striking marked enemies by Sinner’s or
Judgement mark and then finally, the 6th sequence allows her to become an insane hypercarry because
after casting the Ultimate, her basic attacks will deliver ridiculous coordinated damage,
which can be done up to 4 times and it counts as resonance skill damage.
But if you were to ask me whether to go for her Sequences like S1, S2 or the signature weapon,
I would definitely recommend Stringmaster, at least right now. You can easily re-use
this weapon on other units, like Encore, when doing Tower of Adversity and the
value it packs is insane, especially tons of Critical Rate it provides from the substat.
But yeah, what do I think about Yinlin? Well, I would say my opinion is biased right now because
I got extremely lucky with the echo substat rolls and right now she absolutely slaps in Tower of
Adversity. But even then, there is one big issue I have with her. And that is… she’s kinda clunky,
to be honest. A lot of her animations are really slow, like try going up against
one of the aggressive bosses and see if you can perfectly execute those combos I showed earlier,
it’s nuts to be honest and that’s why I prefer playing her in quickswap teams right now. I am
also kinda bummed about the fact there’s no good F2P weapon for her, I mean yeah if you
haven’t opened that purple weapon chest, you can get Jinazhou Keeper but it’s still not as
great as the other 3 options. And sure… at Union level 45, you can get Cosmic Ripples
but I know a lot of people also want to obtain Static Mist pistols which is really cracked.
Still, despite all of this, if you want to obtain a flexible damage dealer and can get behind
the somewhat clunky playstyle, Yinlin is a fun character to use. Her animations are top notch,
her playstyle is fun, at least in my opinion and she can also act as a great off-field
damage dealer while you’re using somebody else. But yeah as always, don’t spend on gacha games if
this will cause you financial problems, its not worth it and if you really want her but don’t
have any summons – just wait for the rerun. Seriously, be careful with your spendings.
