Outlines
🎙️ The Importance of Your Voice on YouTube
In the first paragraph, the speaker, Gan, introduces the Quan Channel and presents three reasons why anyone should start a YouTube channel. The first reason is that your voice matters more than you think. Gan emphasizes that while individuals may not be unique, their personal experiences and struggles can resonate with others, making them feel less alone. Gan shares a snippet of their own life, including their profession as an artist and designer, their cultural background, and personal challenges like impostor syndrome and anxiety. The purpose is to illustrate that sharing one's voice can connect with others who may be experiencing similar situations.
🤝 Building Community Through Social Media
The second paragraph delves into the second reason for starting a YouTube channel: social media's ability to build community. Gan cites a journal on psychological science to stress the importance of social connections for mental and physical health. The speaker introduces Mick, a Filipino artist, as an example of how community can be built through shared goals on YouTube. They discuss the challenges of starting a YouTube channel, such as feeling awkward when speaking to a camera and the complexity of technology. Mick and Gan explore the idea that everyone has something to offer, and they encourage each other to contribute to the 'YouTube land' community. The conversation highlights the mutual support and inspiration that can come from creating content with authenticity and passion.
🎨 Embracing Creativity and Finding Your Voice
The third paragraph focuses on the third reason to start a YouTube channel: it might be exactly what you need to find your creative voice. Gan addresses creatives, especially recent graduates, who may find limited spaces to express themselves in the real world. YouTube is presented as a platform where one can fully engage with their creativity, share their passions, and ideas with the world. Gan discusses the personal benefits of creating videos, such as improving confidence and learning to be patient with oneself. The speaker encourages viewers to start creating, even if it's just sketching ideas, and to not wait until they are perfect. The paragraph concludes with a call to action for viewers to engage with the video by leaving comments and subscribing, and a note that creating this video also served as a way for Gan to solidify their own commitment to making YouTube videos.

you hello everybody my name
is hey did you click on the thumbnail
did you click on it because you clicked
well I'm glad you clicked because today
we are going to talk about what you
click
on
[Music]
okay I want to share with you three
reasons why you a regular person should
have a YouTube channel oh by the way my
name is Gan and this is the Quan Channel
W here I talk about topics that I find
important usually art design kind of
stuff a little bit of social media you
know other weird things as well we we'll
figure it out okay okay so now that you
know me let's let's get to the meat
let's get to the meat of the thing three
reasons why you should be a YouTuber
number one your voice is more important
than you think it is number two social
media builds Community number three
making a YouTube channel might be
exactly what you need okay let's get
started Point number one your voice is
more important than you think yes your
voice is important but don't get it
twisted you are not special you are not
unique now why would I say this maybe I
should just reword this you're not that
different from other people and that is
so important if you were to talk about
your personal life your struggles your
passions there's a thousand people in
this world that would listen to that and
say huh that is exactly
me okay so let's test this out now I'm
going to share with you a short blob of
my personal life just for fun here we go
I'm an AR artist and graphic designer
with intense crippling impostor syndrome
I'm a Filipino American who really sucks
at the Galo I have terrible anxiety I
have no idea how I function in life
sometimes I have a passion for creating
things it's an itch a compulsion making
things that resonate with other people
gives me life oh and um I can't sleep
with pants on because it over stimulates
my legs chances are you might be the
person hearing some of the things that I
shared and thought hm maybe I'm not
alone in this world if that was you
remember that experience that's
something special but that doesn't make
me unique at all does it there is
someone out there that in order for the
next part of their life to come into
play they need to hear your voice
especially in America the media that we
consume is always going to try to
polarize and individualize us but the
reality is we are all deeply similar and
sharing our genuine voices on a platform
like YouTube is a great way to remind us
of our similarity point one your voice
is more important than you think because
it makes people feel less
alone point two social media builds
Community as people one of our deepest
human needs is community according to
this journal on psychological science
the lack of social connection can
increase the risk of anxiety depression
stroke heart disease and dementia we
need Community Building Community has
become more difficult than it used to be
from less third spaces to co doing a
number on our social skills to living
through quite literally a dystopian
nightmare right now we need to build
community in every way
possible I want to introduce you to my
friend Mick Mick is a Filipino artist
based in Princeton New Jersey that I
just recently met while visiting an art
exhibition in Philly called Capa an
exhibition focused on highlighting
Filipino artists Copo by the way
translates to community or more
specifically fellow humans right now
Mick is creating videos of her oil
paintings as a way for people to relax
and watch her process because of similar
goals of wanting to build community in
YouTube we have also been kind of
creating a community for ourselves
discussing what our goals are for
different videos for what we want to do
with our channels and why I mentioned
this is because creating a YouTube
channel with no support is really
difficult but when you create YouTube
videos especially in the goal of
creating Community you end up finding
some Community for yourself whether it's
viewers in the comments or Genuine
friends that would love to exchange
support I want to add a few segments of
a conversation that Mick and I had a few
days ago where we talk about the
struggles of starting YouTube and the
offerings that we can make to each other
as creators all right roll the
clip hi hey how you doing good all right
let's get
started I'm here in Princeton and I feel
like I'm a lone Filipino artist until I
met Guan what is it for you that you
struggle with when it comes to starting
a YouTube channel there are probably
several things that are challenging for
me one is Tech feels complicated to me
but I feel like there are Simple
Solutions that hopefully you'll let me
know about how does it feel to talk to
this thing this person that doesn't
really exist but you know someone out
there is probably listening to what
we're saying it's kind of weird is it
it's totally weird I see YouTube videos
and they're so natural in front of it
but I'm guessing it's because they've
done a whole bunch of videos and since I
haven't done a whole bunch of videos I
feel awkward so maybe some kind of
acceptance would do me well you
mentioned about your offering what you
can offer and what I can offer and what
came to me was that everybody actually
has an offering and I didn't think of
this space of being an offering until I
think mentioned it it's something that
you you might not have and you have
something I might not have so just to
bring it back to you I think everyone
has an offering you know and I think
that's going to be the exciting part to
see how it evolves over YouTube like
what can we offer in YouTube land you
know I love YouTube
land well thanks for having this
conversation over a camera I guess we
can wrap it up here okay cool well that
was the this segment part okay bye guys
I love what Mick says about how everyone
has something that they can offer
everyone has a different set of skills
and expertise that they can contribute
to something this is why I think if
you're capable of starting a YouTube
channel you should because when you sit
down and make content that you're
passionate about content that you
authentically love you have the
opportunity to inspire people point two
social media builds Community because
when used with passion and authenticity
it inspires people all right we we're
going to the last Point here we
go okay we're on the home stretch now
point three this might be exactly what
you need um this point goes especially
out to creatives especially if you went
to school or you're going to school
doing something creative this is for you
I'm 23 now I feel older than I used to
but as a recent college graduate let me
tell you this after you leave school and
go out into the real world you're going
to have limited spaces to be yourself
you usually have to express yourself
through a certain hobby or paying for a
membership it it's not easy it's not
easy to find your people so as a
creative YouTube is a place where I can
put full force into the creative things
that I want to do into my passions into
my ideas and it helps in so many ways it
puts my voice my editing stuff my art it
puts it all out into the world where it
can be enjoyed questioned challenged and
that's something that I don't really get
every day it also helps with my
confidence if you don't already notice
my videos have a lot of cuts in them
because I kind of struggle talking to a
camera I kind of look into this empty
circle and you know there's a lot of
times where I just forget what I'm about
to say and here's the thing things that
I would usually stutter about or maybe
just stay quiet about those ideas those
thoughts they have a chance now to be
edited into a captivating video I mean
going through this process gives me the
opportunity to be patient with myself um
allow myself to do stuff that I'm kind
of bad at you know get better the next
time it also pushes me to talk about the
things I care about with confidence so
listen if you are that person that's
thinking H maybe I should try this this
is your sign start now today don't wait
until you're a master at speaking don't
wait until you're the editing expert I
mean don't even wait until you found
your creative voice you find your
creative voice while creating things
while sharing things to other people you
have to be doing it first I know that
making videos editing talking in front
of a camera all of this stuff is really
hard but I think that it's really worth
it it's worth giving a try you can
research you can look up how to edit how
to speak on a camera there's all of
these things and what's crazy is
nowadays it's all on YouTube as well
it's just a cycle of knowledge you know
learn how to make something and then
make it and then somebody learns from
that and then it just keeps on going but
yes making videos takes a lot of time
but there is so much power in sharing
your art sharing your ideas through
video and I believe that all the
hardships that it takes to create a good
video is really worth it okay so point
three this might be exactly what you
need if you're looking to find your
creative
voice okay let's do a quick recap of the
points we talked about today point one
your voice is more important than you
think because your voice makes people
feel less alone point two social media
builds Community because when used with
passion and authenticity it inspires
people point three this might be exactly
what you need if you're looking to find
your creative voice this might be your
calling to start creating today you
don't got to make a whole YouTube video
off the Jump but you could sketch a few
ideas if you're brave enough try it and
see what happens okay good luck okay
full disclosure this video was really
just to kind of convince myself to do
YouTube videos but yeah I'm a Filipino
creative that loves to make videos and I
want to inspire people through them but
I kind of wanted to make this video to
solidify my thoughts but if you found
this video interesting or inspiring uh
leave a comment say hi maybe ask me a
question I don't know I would love to
start some conversations in the comments
also uh let me know what you think of
this video how's the pacing what do you
like or dislike about it I would love to
know anyways if you made it this far
into the video thing thanks for watching
thanks for sticking around and if you
haven't already don't forget to
subscribe all right see you in the next
