Transcripts
you don't have social anxiety you don't
need to know complicated words to
communicate with people in this guide I
will teach you exactly the only two
things you need to actually influence
people around you to actually speak like
someone who knows what they're talking
about and it's not the same advice that
you will find in your English class or
other YouTube videos this is
specifically for the people who want to
learn how to speak and influence other
people around them I'm walking on the
foot path okay and my hand is shaking I
feel this tension in my legs my stomach
hurts a little bit I'm so nervous I'm so
anxious because I'm about to do
something that I absolutely don't want
to do and I'm walking and I'm walking
and I feel my tension Rising I feel my
heartbeat going faster and faster and
faster and faster and in my mind there
is only one thought let's just ditch
this ditch this let's not do this right
now let's not do this right now we
shouldn't do this we shouldn't do this I
shouldn't do this and then as I'm
walking I do something which I shouldn't
have done as per my
mind I asked an auntie for the
time she told me the time she walked
away then I was walking
away and then I slowly reached into my
pocket and remove my watch to check if
the time was right I wore the
watch and I went to my class this was 2
years
ago I had so much Social Anxiety back
then that even asking for the time was
so scary for me and it was at that point
when I realized that you just need to
have some balls to speak up that is all
you need you just need to have some
balls to actually articulate your own
opinions and the two things that are
going to absolutely change it for you is
confidence and storytelling and I will
teach you exactly how to tell a story
okay I will teach it exactly but first
thing let's just cover confidence
because I think it's a very important
factor in your own speaking or any any
anything that you want to do the
confidence that you have in your
speaking skills will actually pour into
other aspects of your life it doesn't
matter what you do it doesn't matter
what you want to do if you can speak
properly if you can speak concisely if
you can speak like someone who knows
what they talking about you'll be able
to get so much confidence in yourself
that you know okay I know exactly how to
speak I know exactly how to articulate
my thoughts you will see the confidence
in every aspect of your life confidence
is the ability to look at a situation
and know that you can dominate it
completely so after this video I want
you to feel the same way that you can
literally speak to anyone whether that
be your friend your your crush whatever
whoever you want to talk to you can
speak to them and actually influence
them and actually be likable by people
and the way we're going to do that is
through storytelling storytelling is the
art of showcasing change and not telling
the story this is the most common
misconception people have people think
that oh wow he's doing storytelling that
that means he's telling a story no
storytelling is not about telling a
story storytelling is about showcasing a
change and most people will constantly
talk about their boring stories like oh
you know I actually went to mahabaleswar
and I was super happy at that nobody
cares nobody cares about your vacation
trip you need to be able to tell stories
that are not boring because that just
how it is that just what people like to
listen to and this is where people go
wrong because they will tell boring
stories and expect people to listen to
you obviously people won't listen to you
now obviously you can tell boring
stories in a way that actually people
listen to you but inherently it will be
very very hard for anyone to listen to a
boring story so let's just not tell any
boring stories okay we want to craft a
story that will showcase the change the
emotion that you felt at that very
moment we want to showcase that change
and we want the viewer to feel that
emotion so I started this video off with
a story about my social anxiety and you
you probably felt it didn't you you
could probably imagine how it was in
your own mind right you can probably
imagine that why do you think that is
maybe you have experienced the same
thing that is why you're still watching
this video why do you think that is
because I showcase the change that I
felt at that very moment I showcased
what emotion I was feeling at that very
moment and you felt it too and that is
what great storytelling does and I'm no
by no means a great Storyteller right
I'm not great at all I'm super super
stupid in this sense but I'm pretty
decent than the average person so
storytelling is not about telling like
the details of the story like okay I
went there okay this happened blah blah
blah it is all about showcasing a change
so let me ask you a question what do you
think the plot of PK was what do you
think the story of PK that naked Amazon
uh the naked Amir Khan movie what do you
think the plot of that movie or the
story of that movie was it was not about
an alien finding his little uh locket so
that he could go back to his home it was
about a person
who finds love in a place he is not
welcomed that that is deep right that is
that is something people will experience
that is something people might have
experienced and that is something that
people might even relate to right but
nobody's going to go and watch a video
about how a guy finds love in a place
he's not welcome to right nobody cares
so that is why it was masked in the plot
of PK you'd pick any sort of movie there
is always a change that they're trying
to make you feel it is always a change
that are trying to Showcase but they
just do it in a way that actually is
attractive to people so we want to do
the same thing but we're not making
movies we're telling stories to people
and so this is exactly how you tell a
story the first step is to pick an event
that had a significant impact in your
life now the reason why I say that is
because you have a lot of stories in
your day-to-day life and you might not
think you might think oh I'm my life is
so boring I don't really have any
stories but you actually do so firstly
pick an event in your life that has a
lot of significance in in for you so
there are a lot of things that actually
occur in our day-to-day life and in our
life in general but there are some
standout events that really help that
really stand out to us right so for me
this social anxiety situation was the
one that stood out to me so there are
events in your life sort of like patches
these are like the significant parts of
your life now you want to just pick a
story if you're if you're telling
someone a story you just pick an event
in your mind okay okay I want to talk
about this and then the second thing
that you do is you start your story as
close to the 5c moment as possible so
what is the 5-second moment the 5-second
moment is the emotion that you feel in
that specific
event so for me during this story that I
started this video off with it was the
social anxiety that I was
feeling so whatever event you pick in
your life you want to uh understand what
sort of emotion was were you feeling
what was the 5c moment that you were
feeling and you want to start the story
as close to the 5c moment as possible so
for me the story that I just told you at
the start of this video I could have
started it way way before right I could
have started that video way way before
wherein you wouldn't even know what
happened because during that same exact
day I could have told a story about hard
work because I was just coming back from
school and I instantly left for my class
to
study that could have been a story about
hard work right but the main emotion was
the the social anxiety I felt
there and so I started as close to the
5sec moment as possible we don't want to
tell boring details right we have been
uh told this lie that in in school and
stuff that show not tell always describe
the see it it depends on how you're
telling a story but nobody wants to
listen to the details we want to get to
the action right imagine you're watching
a movie and then they are getting to the
climax and then before they even tell
you about the climax they're talking
about the details at the back story and
and useless details that you don't want
to know about we don't want to have that
we want the person to feel the 5-second
moment and we start as close to the
5-second moment as possible step three
is to start your story with movement and
by movement I don't mean like you move
or something like that when you're
telling the story you start the story
with any sort of movement that you're
doing so for me it was I'm walking right
I told you I'm walking down the footpath
or something the reason why this works
is because people like to listen to
things that are progressing we don't
want us like if I was just telling the
story like I was in my Society I was
walking down the food if I just don't
give any sort of movement or thing
movement in that story people will tend
to get bored because they don't
understand that the story is progressing
right so we want to start your story
with movement so every time you're
telling a story start with movement oh I
was I was doing this I was going there I
was lifting this because what it does is
that it grabs the person's attention and
it makes them
imagine if you can get the person to
imagine the details that you're saying
you have won as a
Storyteller you need to make them
imagine the situation that you're in so
whenever I was telling that I'm walking
on the foot path and my legs are shaking
and blah blah blah hopefully you had an
image in your mind right you you
probably imagine something that is what
storytelling does so we want to start
with movement so pick an
event understand the 5-second moment and
start as close to the 5-second moment as
possible and then start with movement
and then this is a little bit weird when
you're getting as close to the 5-second
moment as possible you're right there
just the next statement you're going to
talk about the 5sec moment you stop the
momentum you stop the momentum just a
little bit and raise the stakes of the
person so if you're telling this story
okay and then you're reaching the five
moment and I was experiencing I was
going you reach the 5sec moment it's
right there and your person's attention
is rising you just stop the story for a
second and you start giving details
about the situation or something just
for a few minutes right just for like a
a short span of time we don't want to
distract the person a short span of time
you just give a little bit of
details and then you reveal the 5sec
moment what this does is that it makes
the person like feel what is that 5sec
moment I want to know and whenever
you're stopping the momentum of the
story you want to give details so in the
story that I told you right I was
talking about how I was feeling and then
I was getting to the main like the thing
right talking to that auntie and then I
was literally describing everything I
was feeling my heart is pounding blah
blah blah blah and then I asked her so I
was able to grab your attention and lift
the expectation for a few 2 seconds more
so that the impact of the 5sec moment is
even
greater this is what we want to do we
want to raise the expectations and then
make them feel the need to know about
that 5sec moment and then you reveal the
5c moment and the fifth thing that you
can do is use Stakes to increase the uh
complexity or increase the impact of the
story I don't mean the app by like the
gambling app stakes Stakes are
essentially things that will increase
the suspense in your story okay now one
of the stakes that you can
use is I think it's called The Hour
Glass The Hour Glass method so what you
want to do is that you want to twist
everything that the person is talking
about you want to twist the expectations
so when you're telling a story let's
just say there is a very weird outcome
right if there is a story in your mind
that okay there is a very weird outcome
that occurred what we want to do is want
to direct the person in the other
direction and just before you reveal the
5-second moment like I talked about you
stop the momentum of the story and you
switch to that event it works like
Wonders by the way because now the
person is expecting they're listening to
their story and wow okay I understand
this and then they're like okay okay
he's feeling this and then what this
thing happened it makes a great
storytelling experience we want to add
twist and we want to add twist in a
position
wherein they will not expect it that is
like one of the stakes method you can
use to actually make the story more
likable by
people using Stakes will literally
change your life like literally you're
going to use this in the next story that
you have use a way for you to make the
person feel the urge to listen to the
5sec moment and you'll notice how much
they are wanting to listen to it and the
last step is to then reveal the 5-second
moment and then conclude the story this
is where you end the story this is where
you leave the viewer The Listener with a
message a message a change an emotion
that they feel so I'll tell you a story
right now and I want you to comment down
in the comment section with timestamps
what parts of the story did you find
out okay I'll start right
now I'm coming back from class and I
keep my bag and I go in my room I have
to I have to work right I have to work
and then I open up YouTube my mind is
like playing games like oh why do I
have to do this you know maybe I can
just chill maybe I can chill and then I
open YouTube and I'm watching some
stupid video and while I was walking
through the kitchen into my room I saw
my mom using the mixer right she was
using the mixer and then I just sat in
my room I closed my door I'm listening
to some stupid ass YouTube video and
then I hear
something I hear her scream and I hear a
loud thir and I'm like she's calling my
name and then it was like I was already
in that misconception that oh my God
something spilled and then she wants me
to clean it and my mind is like why do I
have to do this right now I just want to
chill acccident and then I come outside
my room and what I see scares the living
out of
me I find blood all over the
floor I find blood in my mom's hands and
she's holding her hands her skin is
falling
apart and she's crying she's
screaming and then it hit me oh
what just
happened her hand has been cut up in the
mixer and she's screaming in pain and I
have no idea what to do because I've
never experienced the situation and my
mentality was not even there I was not
even in the mindset to do this I was
literally watching YouTube
videos and then I realized
that it was time to put myself to the
test all of the years of
self-improvement and everything all came
down to this very moment wherein I had
to take care of her because my father
was outside he was out of
town and I took her to the hospital and
I had to do everything I have no idea
what to do I've never done this the last
time I went to the hospital was when I
was like 5 6 years old so I have no
idea and she is being operated and I'm
sitting in the OT theater like it's
night time it's 12 a.m. it's literally
midnight and I'm sitting in the waiting
room of the operation theater and I'm
sitting there my phone is almost
dead and I was just sitting there
waiting for the operation to be done and
then it hit
me I have become a person who is strong
and we need to become
stronger it hit me at that point that I
need to become even stronger mentally
than I am right now it was because of
the fact that I was on self-improvement
I was improving myself and my mind and
my mentality for the last few years that
I was able to deal with this
situation if I wouldn't have I didn't I
don't know what I would
do this is the 5sec moment that I wanted
to convey let me know in the comments
how you find found this out and how you
actually felt you can talk to me first
