Democrats vs Republicans 2024

play00:00

one of the things that I find most encouraging

play00:03

about this new generation

play00:05

whether it's millennials or Gen X or Gen Z

play00:08

is that

play00:10

the majority of them are now politically unaffiliated

play00:14

when they claim that racism is around every corner

play00:18

and that you know they

play00:21

they classify MAGA followers as deplorable

play00:25

and white supremacists

play00:28

I don't

play00:29

I don't buy it

play00:30

I fundamentally believe that

play00:32

in a country of 235 million people

play00:37

that are equally divided

play00:39

that you cannot lead this country from the left

play00:42

or from the right you have to lead from the center

play00:46

and for far too long

play00:50

Republicans have failed to address that issue

play00:52

they've taken the position that

play00:55

I'm not my brother's keeper and

play00:57

and the problem with that is that we are our brothers

play01:01

keeper and that we are profoundly

play01:03

interdependent with one another

play01:05

it is in everyone's self interest

play01:08

everyone's self interest that we address these issues

play01:11

and that we solve these issues

play01:13

but there's a right way to do it

play01:15

and there's a wrong way to do it

play01:16

and right now

play01:17

Democrats are pursuing the wrong way to do it

play01:20

and Republicans aren't doing it at all

play01:22

and that's the problem

play01:24

I've got your Facebook here

play01:25

something you posted as of 2 days ago

play01:28

here's the main problem Democrats face

play01:31

you can fool some of the people all of the time

play01:35

and all of the people some of the time

play01:38

but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time

play01:43

quote by Abraham Lincoln what do you mean by that

play01:48

well first of all

play01:50

I'm non partisan okay

play01:52

so I left the Republican Party in 2016

play01:56

formally I was part of the Republican Party

play02:00

today I'm not

play02:01

I have a very healthy disdain

play02:05

for both political parties

play02:08

one of the things that I find most encouraging

play02:11

about this new generation

play02:14

whether it's millennials or Gen X or Gen Z

play02:17

is that

play02:18

the majority of them are now politically unaffiliated

play02:23

so they're not Republicans or Democrats

play02:26

and beyond that

play02:28

non partisan is now the largest category

play02:32

as opposed to they outnumber Democrats

play02:35

and they also outnumber Republicans

play02:37

not collectively but either one individually

play02:41

non partisans are larger so today

play02:45

I'm critical of Democrats and the Biden administration

play02:50

because they're the people that are in power

play02:52

but

play02:52

that doesn't mean that I'm going to be a cheerleader

play02:55

for Donald Trump or the Trump administration

play02:57

when they come into power

play02:59

I'm likely to be

play03:01

equally critical of things that I see them doing

play03:04

that I don't agree with

play03:07

I fundamentally believe that

play03:09

in a country of 235 million people

play03:14

that are equally divided that you cannot lead this

play03:17

this country from the left or from the right

play03:21

you have to lead from the center

play03:23

and that

play03:24

we should be jettisoning the bad ideas on both

play03:29

far sides of the political spectrum

play03:32

and that we should be taking the

play03:34

best ideas from both sides of the political spectrum

play03:38

that are more towards the center

play03:41

and that

play03:42

we should be moving the country in that direction

play03:44

because that is representative democracy

play03:47

that's what a republic is supposed to be

play03:50

so when I talk about

play03:52

Democrats not being able to fool all of the people

play03:55

all of the time the

play03:56

the Abraham Lincoln quote that you

play03:58

you know refer to

play04:01

I have found in my experience

play04:03

that Democrats lie more than Republicans

play04:09

and it's not that Republicans don't lie

play04:12

they do

play04:14

but not quite as often it's like

play04:17

look at Donald Trump you know

play04:19

what you see is what you get

play04:23

okay so

play04:26

so you may not like him you may

play04:28

you know in 2016

play04:30

I called him a narcissistic buffoon okay

play04:33

you may not like him and

play04:35

there are many things I don't like about him okay

play04:39

but I know who and what he is

play04:43

now does he lie

play04:44

yes but not with the frequency that Joe Biden lies

play04:50

Joe Biden

play04:51

almost every other day

play04:53

every time I see the man open his mouth

play04:55

he's saying something that isn't true and

play04:58

and so you know

play05:01

that has been sort of the

play05:04

defining characteristic for me

play05:06

about the Democratic Party

play05:08

is that they generally operate on the principle of

play05:13

the ends justify the means they

play05:16

they believe in a certain outcome right

play05:19

whether that's equity or Equality or um

play05:24

you know income Equality

play05:27

or student loan forgiveness or universal healthcare

play05:32

whatever it is they believe in certain things

play05:36

very deeply and so

play05:38

they're willing to lie

play05:40

in order to advance those objectives

play05:43

and they justify it with this concept

play05:46

that the ends justify the means

play05:49

you know you look at critical race theory

play05:51

for example or critical theory in general

play05:54

and it's essentially very dishonest right

play05:57

it's not about a dialogue

play06:00

the people that are advancing

play06:01

these narratives are not interested in the facts

play06:06

they're not interested in having a dialogue

play06:09

or a conversation about the facts

play06:13

they have a position that they want to advance

play06:16

and you know

play06:18

for example

play06:20

let's say black lives matter right

play06:22

you might say all lives matter right

play06:26

well all lives do matter

play06:28

but they don't wanna hear that

play06:30

they wanna hear the

play06:31

just black lives matter because that's their narrative

play06:35

that's what they're trying to put forward

play06:38

and even though someone would come up with something as

play06:44

obviously truthful and accurate as all lives matter

play06:49

this is rejected by those people right

play06:53

and it's that kind of militant

play06:57

adherence to a philosophical

play07:01

position or belief or objective that I object to

play07:06

it's dishonest

play07:08

and I object to dishonesty

play07:11

I don't care if it's coming from Democrats

play07:13

or it's coming from Republicans

play07:15

I object to dishonesty and I think we all should

play07:19

and

play07:21

you know the media is the same way

play07:23

if you look at CNN

play07:26

and I used to watch with with amazement at Don Lemon

play07:33

on CNN every night

play07:35

the guy was lying and misrepresenting

play07:39

virtually every program I mean

play07:42

I couldn't watch him ever

play07:44

without feeling that he was lying

play07:46

or misrepresenting something

play07:49

and you know

play07:50

does Sean Hannity do that

play07:53

not as often right

play07:55

I'm sure he does it but not as often

play07:59

does Tucker Carlson do that

play08:01

I'm sure he does it but not as often

play08:04

so that

play08:06

I think is a fundamental difference

play08:08

and I think it reverts back to

play08:11

or can be explained by the ends justify the means

play08:14

either you're a person

play08:16

that believes that the ends justify the means

play08:19

or you're a person who does not believe that

play08:21

who believes in truth you know

play08:24

and let the chips fall where they may

play08:26

you know you have a reverence for the truth

play08:28

and you wanna know what the truth is

play08:30

and you want it to be accurate

play08:32

and if it helps you great in

play08:34

in whatever your world view might be then

play08:37

you know you accept that and you enjoy that

play08:40

if it hurts you

play08:42

you still respect the fact that it's the truth

play08:45

and you're searching for the truth

play08:47

I don't think that today's Democratic Party does that

play08:52

and I'm not saying that the Republican Party does

play08:55

either

play08:56

but it's more flagrant on

play09:00

on the left

play09:01

it's more chronic and consistent on the left

play09:05

and I find that problematic

play09:07

I would not want to be associated

play09:10

with either political party today

play09:13

but the Democrats are a non starter

play09:16

as far as I'm concerned because of the dishonesty

play09:19

sure so very well said

play09:21

when you say that the means justify the ends

play09:26

the ends justify the means

play09:27

the ends justify the means yeah

play09:29

what does that mean that means if I think I

play09:31

and you can clarify that here for me

play09:34

that means that the outcome is

play09:35

the outcome that they want

play09:36

and they don't care

play09:37

what they have to do to get the outcome

play09:38

yeah in a simple way yeah

play09:40

for example if let's say you think that

play09:43

racism is bad right

play09:45

which it is right

play09:47

it's it's abhorrent right

play09:49

but if you believe that racism is bad

play09:52

and you're motivated you know

play09:55

very passionately

play09:56

and very focused towards trying to eliminate racism

play10:00

then

play10:02

you will bend the truth in order to eliminate it

play10:07

so for example

play10:09

you'll blame police

play10:13

for murdering young black men right

play10:17

even though more than 95% of all fatal shootings

play10:24

of young

play10:24

black men involve the young black man having a gun

play10:29

right they won't discuss that

play10:32

they won't discuss that

play10:34

or you know

play10:35

you look at the various incidents that have occurred

play10:39

and you know

play10:40

there are two parties to the equation

play10:42

right and there are many cases of police misconduct

play10:46

right and overreaching and poor training and

play10:52

they're participating in the escalation of a conflict

play10:56

but by and large

play10:58

what you see is a lack of respect for authority

play11:04

on the part of the individual

play11:06

who ends up causing the situation

play11:09

with a police officer to escalate right

play11:11

it's a lack of respect for authority

play11:14

they don't follow their instructions

play11:16

they don't listen to what they say

play11:18

they don't leave their hands out of their pockets

play11:22

they don't stop moving right

play11:24

if you're a police officer

play11:25

and you're engaging with someone on the street right

play11:28

in the middle of the night

play11:30

midnight on a on a dark road

play11:32

and you pull someone over

play11:34

and the person exits the vehicle

play11:36

and you don't know who you're dealing with right

play11:39

and you wanna go home alive to your

play11:41

to your wife and kids you can't tolerate a situation

play11:46

where the person is not following your instructions

play11:49

where they're arguing with you

play11:51

where they're reaching into their pockets

play11:53

where they're moving when they're told not to

play11:56

when they're not following instructions right

play11:59

you can't accept that

play12:00

because your life may be on the line

play12:02

some of those people

play12:05

even if it's a small fraction

play12:07

some of those people are hardened criminals

play12:10

who will kill you and you don't know who they are

play12:14

and you don't know who you're dealing with right

play12:17

so it's that lack of authority

play12:20

it's that lack of respect for authority

play12:22

that causes things to escalate but

play12:24

but those on the left that wanna make a point

play12:28

will not acknowledge that right

play12:30

in in a

play12:31

in a specific instance where

play12:34

you know someone gets

play12:35

someone gets shot or someone gets beaten up or

play12:39

you know manhandled by a police officer

play12:42

they will take the side of the

play12:46

of the defendant

play12:47

and they will not take the side of the officer

play12:49

they will not give the officer the benefit of the doubt

play12:52

and what I would argue is that more often than not

play12:56

the police officer is just doing their job

play12:59

they're not a rogue

play13:02

police officer that's exceeding their authority

play13:04

they're someone that's dealing with a very

play13:07

difficult situation

play13:08

in which someone is not respecting their authority

play13:12

Democrats don't acknowledge that

play13:13

they don't talk about it they don't

play13:15

you know they certainly don't highlight it

play13:18

and I believe that's dishonest

play13:21

and I believe that does a disservice

play13:25

when they claim that racism is around every corner

play13:28

and that you know they

play13:30

they classify MAGA followers as deplorable

play13:35

and white supremacists

play13:38

I don't

play13:39

I don't buy it

play13:41

most of these people are people who are patriots

play13:44

they love America they believe in the rule of law

play13:48

they're not racist they're not white supremacists

play13:51

they're just normal

play13:53

average citizens who believe in love of country

play13:57

and respect for the rule of law

play14:00

and that's what they object to

play14:02

when they see that on the left

play14:04

they're not objecting to the color of anyone's skin

play14:08

they're not

play14:09

exhibiting you know

play14:10

racist tendencies they

play14:12

they don't

play14:13

fundamentally believe that someone who is black

play14:16

is inferior to someone who is white

play14:19

they simply

play14:21

don't accept the behavior

play14:24

that's coming out of some of that community

play14:27

especially when it has to do with

play14:30

engaging with law enforcement and

play14:32

and that's not an unreasonable

play14:35

position for people to take

play14:37

if we don't have a respect for the rule of law

play14:41

and a respect for legal authority in this country

play14:44

we will eventually evolve into anarchy

play14:48

and that's not in anyone's interest

play14:50

and so

play14:52

that's where I come down on those issues

play14:54

sure is is

play14:55

so going back to um

play14:59

question on that

play15:00

do you think

play15:00

now that people are beginning to catch their antics

play15:06

oh yeah on the left and that people are beginning to say

play15:09

this is ridiculous

play15:10

it's going too far and I'm sick and tired of it

play15:14

there's no question okay

play15:15

there is

play15:16

there is a recoil

play15:19

from what has happened

play15:20

and it's amazing that it's taken this long

play15:23

but it's happening you look at the Washington Post

play15:26

for example

play15:27

readership of the Liberal Washington Post is down 50%

play15:33

since 2020 right

play15:35

no one is reading

play15:38

their garbage anymore and

play15:40

the same thing is going to happen

play15:41

to the New York Times and

play15:45

you know people are realizing

play15:48

that the country has moved too far in the

play15:50

in the wrong direction and

play15:52

you know on that point there

play15:54

there's something I'd like to add

play15:55

first of all for too many decades

play15:59

the issues that Democrats

play16:01

have been raising have been ignored by Republicans

play16:05

right we've allowed

play16:08

large

play16:09

sections of our country to devolve into ghettos

play16:14

into crime ridden

play16:19

communities that lack economic opportunity

play16:23

that don't have the kind of schools they should have

play16:25

that have liquor stores on every corner

play16:28

that have high unemployment

play16:31

and for far too long

play16:34

Republicans have failed to address that issue

play16:37

they've taken the position that

play16:39

I'm not my brother's keeper

play16:41

and that

play16:43

we believe in personal responsibility

play16:46

and these people are responsible for themselves and

play16:51

you know you shouldn't be using my hard earned money

play16:54

and tax dollars

play16:57

to be helping someone who is not doing their fair share

play17:02

is the attitude that they've generally

play17:04

brought to the table

play17:05

and the problem with that is that we are our brothers

play17:09

keeper and that we are profoundly

play17:11

interdependent with one another

play17:13

and that

play17:14

we can't have the kind of life that we want to have

play17:19

while others are suffering in poverty

play17:22

and misery and crime

play17:24

where they have no sense of hopefulness and

play17:29

and aspiration and opportunity

play17:32

because ultimately those conditions will fester

play17:35

and they'll reach a boiling point

play17:37

and that has been happening for decades

play17:40

and we're at that boiling point

play17:42

and Democrats rightly are raising those issues

play17:45

and Republicans need to pay attention

play17:48

and they need to try to help address those issues

play17:51

but there's a right way to do things

play17:53

and there's a wrong way to do things

play17:55

and the right way to do things is to

play17:58

have a reverence for the truth

play17:59

to begin with right

play18:01

don't lie about things don't embellish

play18:04

don't exaggerate don't use isolated

play18:08

instances to

play18:11

make these ridiculous assertions and assumptions

play18:15

but be realistic

play18:17

be honest and and work cooperatively

play18:22

to create consensus towards collaboration

play18:27

and solving these problems

play18:29

these problems need to be solved

play18:32

it is in everyone's self interest

play18:35

everyone's self interest that we address these issues

play18:38

and that we solve these issues

play18:40

but there's a right way to do it

play18:41

and there's a wrong way to do it

play18:43

and right now

play18:44

Democrats are pursuing the wrong way to do it

play18:46

and Republicans aren't doing it at all

play18:49

and that's the problem you know

play18:51

so ultimately they're going to have to start talking

play18:55

and start collaborating

play18:57

and start being more efficient and effective in

play19:01

creating the positive change that we need to see

play19:04

in all areas of

play19:06

of American life and in all communities including

play19:12

especially

play19:13

our most depressed and challenged communities

play19:15

so I believe very

play19:18

much in in many of the things that Democrats believe in

play19:22

in fact

play19:25

you could call me a classic Liberal

play19:28

but a classic Liberal is very different

play19:31

from a modern day Liberal right

play19:34

Bill Clinton was more of a classic Liberal right

play19:38

today's left are radical fringe extremists

play19:45

some are Marxists and some are anarchists and

play19:52

I just have no tolerance for that
