I heard you didn't even have to use quotation marks if it was in your own words. I found this
really good idea in a book but didn't have much time, so I just copied the text and changed some
of the words around, I did put in a reference though so I thought I'd be fine but when I
got my marks back, the marker said it was way too close to the original source and that I
risk committing plagiarism. I just don't get it. Dude, you have to get this referencing down
immediately, it's so important. I remember the lecturer telling us for this assignment that
we had to summarise or paraphrase our sources, which means that we just have
to put it in our own words, and this can take a bit of time, which is why I always start my
assignments early, and this is a skill you have to develop, you have to do it over and
over again. In fact one of my markers told me that because I had summarised and in
paraphrased really well it meant that I had understood what I was talking about, and because
I'd given proper credit to my sources that it meant that I had done the research
