Takeaways
- 📝 Avoid using colloquial adjectives like 'toll', 'super', 'cool', and 'geil' in written B2 exams, especially if you're over 14 years old.
- 💬 It's acceptable to use 'cool' in spoken language with friends, but not in formal written exams.
- ✍️ Instead of simple words like 'gut' or 'schlecht', use more complex vocabulary to demonstrate a richer vocabulary, such as 'hochwertig' for 'good' and 'minderwertig' for 'bad'.
- 🤔 While 'gut' and 'schlecht' are not wrong, using them at B2 level shows a limited vocabulary compared to higher levels like A2 or B1.
- 🛍️ Avoid using 'billig' and 'teuer' as they carry negative and positive connotations respectively; instead, use 'günstig' for affordable prices without implying low quality.
- 🛒 'Erschwinglich' is a better term than 'teuer' or 'günstig' when referring to the price, as it doesn't judge the quality but the affordability.
- 🛍️ Use 'erstanden' instead of 'gekauft' to sound more sophisticated and precise in your written expressions.
- 🙅♂️ Avoid phrases like 'ich finde', 'ich glaube', 'ich denke' in B2 level writing; instead, use more impersonal constructions to sound more objective and professional.
- 📚 Incorporate more passive constructions and 'man' constructions to make your writing sound more formal and less personal.
- 📝 Replace simple questions with more complex structures to demonstrate a broader vocabulary and understanding, such as 'ich möchte in Erfahrung bringen' instead of 'ich möchte fragen'.

📝 B2 Writing Tips: Avoid Informal Vocabulary
Maria discusses the importance of using a sophisticated vocabulary in B2 level written German exams. She advises against using colloquial words like 'toll', 'super', 'cool', and 'geil', especially for those over 14 years old, and suggests more formal alternatives such as 'ausgezeichnet', 'hervorragend', 'gut', and 'schlecht'. Maria explains that while these words are not incorrect, using them does not demonstrate a vocabulary beyond A2 or B1 levels. She also recommends replacing simple words like 'gut' with 'hochwertig' or 'von hoher Qualität' and 'schlecht' with 'minderwertig' or 'von niedriger Qualität'. Additionally, she warns against using 'billig' and 'teuer', recommending 'günstig' and 'zu einem erschwinglichen Preis' instead, to avoid the negative connotation associated with 'billig'. Maria emphasizes the need to show a rich vocabulary to the examiner and to use impersonal formulations to sound more objective and professional.
📚 Enhancing B2 Writing with Impersonal Constructions
In the second paragraph, Maria continues with her advice on improving written German at the B2 level, focusing on the use of impersonal constructions to make writing sound more objective. She suggests avoiding personal expressions like 'ich glaube', 'ich denke', and instead using more formal and impersonal phrases such as 'es wäre vorteilhaft', 'offensichtlich wäre', and 'diese Option zu bevorzugen'. Maria explains that incorporating more passive constructions and impersonal formulations can make the writing sound more professional and less subjective. She invites viewers to share their questions in the comments for further discussion on B2 and possibly C1 level writing and promises to create more videos on the topic. She concludes by encouraging viewers to like, subscribe, and comment for more content.

Transcripts
hey ich bin Maria und ich habe jahrelang
B2 und C1 Prüfungen abgenommen und
schriftliche Prüfungen ausgewertet und
wenn du dieses Video bis zum Ende
schaust wirst du wissen welche Wörter du
beim schriftlichen B2 lieber gar nicht
verwenden sollst und was du stattdessen
als Alternative zur Verfügung hast also
bleib dabei also zunächst ein paar
Adjektive die du am besten für die se
deine Prüfungsvorbereitung komplett aus
deinem Vokabular streichen solltest also
gar nicht verwenden solltest zumindest
schriftlich nicht es sind solche Wörter
wie toll super cool geil geil solltest
Du grundsätzlich nicht benutzen wenn du
älter als 14 Jahre
bist cool kannst du gerne mündlich
benutzen mit Freunden benutzen aber
niemals in einer schriftlichen Prüfung
stattdessen solche Wörter wie
ausgezeichnet
hervorragend auch solche Wörter wie gut
oder
schlecht
bedeutet
meistens es hat keine gute Qualität es
hat minderwertige Qualität ja es kostet
nicht viel Geld aber du bekommst auch
nichts hochwertiges für dein Geld es
gibt das Wort günstig was tatsächlich
besser ist das bedeutet nicht dass es
schlecht ist das bedeutet nicht dass die
Qualität niedrig ist es bedeutet nur
dass du für einen geringen Betrag für
wenig Geld etwas
bekommst was normalerweise mehr Geld
kostet aber was du z.B stattdessen
benutzen kannst du kannst sagen
ich habe das und das zu einem
erschwinglichen Preis erstanden
erstanden ist übrigens auch ein toller
Ersatz für gekauft nicht ich habe etwas
gekauft sondern ich habe etwas
erstanden ein erschwinglicher Preis sag
übrigens auf keinen Fall teurer Preis
oder günstiger Preis denn du kaufst
nicht den Preis du kaufst die Ware und
wenn du auf Werbung achtest dann wirst
du sehr sehr Huf vor allem bei
Supermarkt Werbung solche Formulierungen
gerne in deiner privaten Korrespondenz
nutzen aber ab Niveau B2 sollten wir
versuchen möglichst viele unpersönliche
Formulierungen einzubauen das heißt
sowas wie man sollte meinen
dass es wäre vorteilhaft
wenn
offensichtlich wäre diese Option zu
bevorzugen und so weiter das heißt je
mehr mannkonstruktionen je mehr
passivkonstruktionen du einbauen kannst
desto sachlicher wird dein Brief klingen
also versuche einfach auf deine Meinung
nicht auf die Meinung zu verzichten
sondern auf solche Formulierungen wie
ich glaube ich denke und so weiter
das waren einige
Tipps wenn du noch mehr wissen möchtest
was du anders machen kannst beim
schriftlichen Ausdruck für B2 oder
vielleicht auch für C1 schreib es gerne
in die Kommentare und ich mache noch
mehr Videos dazu und wir sehen uns im
nächsten Video vergiss nicht zu liken zu
abonnieren und einen Kommentar zu
schreiben also bis zum nächsten Mal ciao
ciao
