träumt man von einem sozialistischen
Bruderstaat während sich die
Bundesrepublik einen Sozialdemokraten an
der Staatsspitze wünscht doch ein
ddrspion löst in Bonn eine politische
Krise aus Bundeskanzler wiie Brand muss
nach der guillom Affäre zurücktreten die
USA Kämpfen im
Vietnamkrieg Präsident Nixon steht wegen
der Watergate Affäre kurz vor dem Aus
und so wittern Moskau und Ostberlin die
große Chance unmittelbar nach dem 25
April als es galt die ersten Kontakte
auch auf bilateraler Ebene also
staatlicher Ebene zu entwickeln das lief
über die traditionell
vorhandenen parteibeziehungen zwischen
der SED und der
PCP die PCP Portugals Kommunistische

großen Einfluss nutzen um die
demokratischen Kräfte zu unterstützen

Herzensangelegenheit insbesondere gilt

Gedankenaustausch mit ihrer Partei Herr
Minister der Sozialistischen Partei
Portugals mit der sich
Sozialdemokratische Partei Deutschland
solidarisch verbunden fühlt im Oktober
1974 Rei Willi Brand nach Portugal und

werden und die Sozialistische Partei

Demokratie auf der Straße in den
Betrieben in den
Parteien das Land braucht eine
Verfassung ein Parlament eine vom Volk
gewählte Regierung doch der Weg dahin
ist turbulentortugalin

Übergangspräsident Spinola will das
Machtvakuum ausnutzen den
Verfassungsprozess unterwandern und sich
zum herrschenden Präsidenten lassen er
scheitert und muss zurücktreten
Generalstabschef Franzisko Kost gomesch
übernimmt das Präsidentenamt und treibt
den demokratischen Prozess weiter
voran doch so einfach gibt sich Spinola
nicht geschlagen ein halbes Jahr später
am 11 März wagt er mit
rechtskonservativen Militärs einen
bewaffneten

wunderbarer Stützpunkt gewesen aber für

in Westeuropa und vor alleningen in der
Bundesrepublik sämtliche Alarmglocken
aus und man merkt jetzt dass man noch
stärker aktiv werden muss um das
aufzuhalten
in dieser Phase erkennt die
Bundesrepublik dass Ihre Kontakte vor
Ort nicht ausreichen Hans-ulrich Bünger
wird als sozialatchee der deutschen
Botschaft nach Portugal entsendet er
soll die Beziehung zur gemäßigten linken

Stärken ich kam Ende Juni
1975 nach Lissabon und er hatte dann
auch von Anfang an immer
Gesprächstermine bei Marius wares dem
Generalsekretär der Sozialistischen
Partei und bei einem der Termine dann es
muss so Ende Juli gewesen sein da bat er
mich dann zu meiner Überraschung doch
auf den Balkon mit ihm rauszugehen hatte
die Sorge abgehört zu werden hatte also
wirklich schie al überall die
Kommunisten und so also ihr Unwesen
trieben und dahinter dachte man dann
natürlich steckt auch
vielfach die Unterstützung durch die
DDR tatsächlich stehen die
portugiesischen Kommunisten in engem
Kontakt mit der SED um einen
Geheimdienst nach osteuropäischem
Vorbild in Portugal
aufzubauen die stadts Sicherheit
berichtet permanent über die Ereignisse
in Portugal an die engere Partei und
Staatsführung das wird in dieser Zeit
intensiviert da geht es einmal um die
Ereignisse in Portugal selber und
andererseits aber auch um die Reaktion
und Aktion der der Bundesrepublik in
dieser Frage und der restlichen Welt in
der DDR wird zur Solidarität mit den
Kommunisten in Portugal aufgerufen der
Hochschuldozent reiner Bettermann will
sich engagieren trotz aller
abgegriffenen Parolen in der DDR die man
nicht so richtig ernst mehr genommen hat
da war eine grundbereitschaft eigentlich
da irgendetwas ganz Konkretes zu tun was
über die Parolen hinausgeht
bettertermann entscheidet sich als
Deutschlehrer für die gerade gegründete
Freundschaftsgesellschaft Portugal DDR
in Lissabon zu arbeiten doch das
Engagement der DDR sieht nicht jeder

gern damals wurde mir zur Vorbereitung
ein Text und ein Foto vorgelegt das Foto
zeigte eine durch ein Bombenattentat
zerstörte Bibliothek der
Freundschaftsgesellschaft Portugal DDR
[Musik]
also es wurde nicht kommentiert von den
Kollegen da vom Ministerium aber die
Botschaft war natürlich auch dort ist es
gefährlich die
Freundschaftsgesellschaft Portugal DDR
gibt Ostberlin die Möglichkeit
Kulturschaffende aus beiden Ländern
zusammenzubringen und dabei ganz
nebenbei für den Sozialismus zu werben
[Musik]
eigene Vorstellung war die DDR das ist
ein gut funktionierendes stark
schematisiertes
System mit vielen Ecken und Kanten ich
habe völlig unterschätzt dass wirklich
das Interesse da war zu erfahren wie
kann man eine Gesellschaft aufbauen für
die DDR war so etwas sozusagen im Westen
von irem Staat und Leuten als Vorbild an
erkannt zu werden
natürlich eine wunderbare Sache weil das
kannten sie ja eigentlich nicht sie
waren ja immer gerade im Westen das
Negativbild und das ist ja die ganze
Zeit das Problem bis Anfang der 70er
Jahre der DDR dass ihen die
internationale Anerkennung ja völlig
versagt
blieb und auch in der Bundesrepublik
entbrennt eine Faszination für Portugals
linke Revolution für die westdeutsche er
Bewegung wird Portugal zum Sehnsuchtsort
an dem eine Alternative Gesellschaft
möglich
sei Regina urban studiert zu dieser Zeit
Pädagogik ist im kommunistischen Bund
aktiv einer maoistischen kgruppe die aus
der Studentenbewegung hervorgegangen war
wie viele ihrer Mitstreiter zieht es
auch sie nach Portugal wir sind ja nach
Portugal gefahren mit der mit dem mit
dem Wunsch
mit der Idee wir müssen diesen
portugiesischen genossen mal ein
bisschen unter die Arme
greifen die Wege nach Lissabon waren ja
endlos kurvenberge es gab keine Autobahn
es gab keine Schnellstraße es gab gar
[Musik]
nichts fuhren über die Brücke und
landeten dann in Lissabon und haben an
diesen unendlich aufregenden
Demonstrationen teilgenommen
in den Monaten nach dem Sturz der
Diktatur zeigt sich auf Portugals
Straßen was passiert wenn plötzlich die
Zivilgesellschaft erwacht die Menschen
die mehr als vier Jahrzehnte lang unter
den Repressionen des regims gelitten
hatten fordern nun
mittiv a par no n
viele linksintellektuelle nicht nur in
Portugal sondern in ganz Europa
verbinden mit der Entwicklung im Land
auch die Hoffnung auf ein neues
Zusammenleben das nicht an den
Kapitalismus oder Realsozialismus
gebunden ist irgendwie hat mich
überrascht was diese Menschen taten wie
diese Menschen lebten wie sie
miteinander diskutierte
wie sie sich für ihre Rechte einsetzten
das hat mich total überrascht und
fasziniert das kannte ich ja nicht ich
kannte ja Revolution nur am
Schreibtisch in Portugal werden vor
allem die Gewerkschaften zu einem
wichtigen Sprachrohr der

Veränderungen die DDR steht in enger
Verbindung zuur intersyndikal der
größten Gewerkschaft des Landes und zur
kommunistischen Partei die
Bundesrepublik konzentriert sich auf die
Sozialistische Partei und die Partei
nahe UGT gewerkschafto
e

wie viel Geld genau fließt ist bis heute
unbekannt viel muss im Verborgenen
geschehen denn nachdem die Banken
verstaatlicht wurden fürchten
westdeutsche Politiker dass das Geld
nicht bei den richtigen ankommt und
suchen alternative

Wege auf abenteuerlichsten wegen wird
das nach Portugal gebracht in Koffern
wden Geldbeträge
dorthin
geschafft mit geldkaufer das weiß ich no
nicht ne
also kann ich lieber nicht so sagen ich
habe auch manche so Verdacht oder so
aber ich weiß es nicht gell also über
mich ist kein kein Cent gelaufen ich
habe keinen Pfennig Pfennig darüber
gebracht in Portugal gewinnen die
Sozialisten an Einfluss auch dank
deutscher Finanzhilfe nur im allentejo
im Süden Portugals haben die Kommunisten
das
sagen hier werden Großgrundbesitzer
enteignet landwirtschaftliche
kooperativen übernehmen die
Länderein bodenreformen sind ja sousagen
das zentrale Thema bei einer
sozialistischen
Transformation Portugal war ja ein sehr
armes Land und es hatte ja auch noch
gerade auf dem Lande doch sehr
archaische
Verhältnisse und die Revolution ist ja
nicht nur so sozusagen von oben
politisch sondern dann auch durch
soziale Bewegung getragen worden und
vorangetrieben worden und die gingen
eben in die Richtung der Verbesserung
der Lebensverhältnisse und eben auch der
Veränderung der
Besitzverhältnisse das Aufbegehren der
Landarbeiter strahlt bis nach
Westdeutschland linke Studenten wollen
portugiesische Bauern im allentejo
tatkräftig
unterstützen gleichzeitig liefern die
DDR und andere Ostblockstaaten Traktoren
und Saatgut im Alentejo wird von einem
Dritten Weg zwischen Kapitalismus und
Sozialismus
geträumt im allentge auf einer
Kooperative mitzuarbeiten ich glaube wir
hätten damals gesagt das ist was für
Romantiker einer davon ist der
Journalist und Menschenrechtsaktivist
Günther Wallraff
1975 verbringt der Monate im Süden
Portugals auf einer landwirtschaftlichen
kooperative
ja ich mich mit zwei linken Händen da in
der Landwirtschaft nützlich machen aber
es war mehr so dass wir Zeitzeugen waren
was läuft da ab was passiert da weil es
waren immer wieder Meldungen Radio
hörten was wo hier versucht wurde diese
friedliche
Revolution
zurückzudrehen die Revolution und die
damit einhergehenden Enteignungen
treffen besonders im Norden Portugals
auf den vehementen Widerstand der
konservativen Kräfte einige wollen die
alten Verhältnisse wiederherstellen mit
Gewalt gemeinsam mit seiner Kollegin
Hella Schlumberger beginnt Wallraf zu
recherchieren sie fahren in eine
Hochburg der extremen Rechten und geben
sich als Waffenhändler aus wir kommen in
einen kleinen bistol rein dann war einer
der schon etwas marzialische Wirkung
hatte der hatte einen Schäfer
die helle ist mit Hunden groß geworden
und die fing an mit dem Schäferhund zu
spielen und dann war der Hundealter der
plötzlich daraufhin auf uns einging und
sagt wer seid ihr was macht ihr denn
hier und dann kam spontan bei mir die
Idee ja vielleicht ist das jemand der
Kontakte hat weil in diesem Ort wusste
man sind diese rechtsradikalen sehr
aktiv ich habe gesagt wir wollen helfen
und was brauchen die an Logistik an
Waffen um das zu
bewerkstelligen wir wurden dann von
Kommandoebenen zwei drei Stufen höher
gereicht und immer wieder wurde
gesagt wer beauftragt euch denn ich sag
tut mir leid den Namen kann ich nicht
nennen es gibt nur einen Politiker in
unserem Land der das auch wirklich
vehement und aus voller Überzeugung
fördert und beauftragt und bitte keine
Namen
hier wallrafs Gesprächspartner glauben
dass die beiden im Auftrag des CSU
Vorsitzenden Franz Josef Strauß kommen
der gute Kontakte zu rechtskonservativen
Kreisen in Portugal
pflegt je tiefer Wallraff und
Schlumberger das extremrechte Netzwerk
infiltrieren desto klarer wird Ihnen
hier meint man es ernst es wurde ganz
klar gesagt auch wenn Menschen dabei
drauf gehen dann ist das alles dem
höheren Interesse
durchaus notwendig wenn man aufgewonen
wäre die hätten einen identifiziert hät
man es nicht überlebt das hätte
passieren
können Portugal erlebt die
gewalttätigste Zeit der Revolution

neben den vom Ostblock unterstützten
Kommunisten und den vom Westen
favorisierten Parteien gewinnen auch
rechtsradikale Gruppierungen an Einfluss
die im Untergrund
agieren
ond
rechtsung Versuch das
werden dutzende Angriffe auf linke
Einrichtungen
verübt der politische Gegner soll durch
offene Gewalt eingeschüchtert werden ins
Visier geraten in den folgenden Monaten
auch die Verbündeten der portugiesischen
Kommunisten ich hatte also einen
besonders engen Partner gefunden auch
ein sehr junger Kubaner und in auf die
kubanische Botschaft wurde ein
Terroranschlag verübt und er war er war
unter den er war tot es war mE so ein
Gefühl ja das der der Ohnmacht wo kommt
dieser Hass her wie wieso wie warum die
ganze Revolution verlief relativ
friedlich warum jetzt auf einmal dieser
Hass in Portugal tobt ein offener Kampf
um die Macht auch linksextreme Kräfte
greifen zu den Waffen und putschen am 25
November
1975 Truppeneinheiten besetzen Straßen
Kasernen und den
aber die wichtigsten linken Politiker
glauben nicht an einen

ihren ominösen Präsidenten treffen um
einen Waffendeal
auszuhandeln wir waren am fluggrafen und
Kollegen vom Stern hatten das mit

postiert jetzt wussten wir nicht wen
holen wir denn da ab und da kommt jemand
mit hochgesem
Kragen Sonnenbrille und dann zieht der
Mantel aus und zieht die Sonnenbrille ab
und klemmt sich ein Monokel
rein ich denk das kann da wohl nicht
wahr sein bist du hier in einem Film
bist du hier in einer Falle das gibt's
doch nicht Spinola general Spinola der
das Symbol der Nelken Revolution der
dann der prin nein der Mann der zu
Beginn der Revolution gemeinsam mit den
Linken Militärs die Macht übernahm und
Portugal in die Demokratie überführen

die Liste der Terroraktionen geschickt

Luftfracht und es wurden genau markiert
wo bereits welche Attentat oder
sprengstoffaktionen stattgefunden hatten
und was sie noch brauchten um den
großen Putsch oder die große
Sache zu starten Wallraf macht die
Aktion öffentlich Franz Josef Strauß
muss sich wegen seiner Verbindungen zu
Spinola im Bundestag verantworten der
Fall schlägt hohe Wellen auch für
Wallraf selbst nachdem dieser putschnun
aufflog da wurden meine Arbeitsräume in
Brand gesteckt hier ich bekam mochdohung
es wurde gesagt ich hätte mich in
Tressen eingemischt
die die mich nichts angingen soll wenn
ich sowas noch mal vorkäme ich hätte ja
Familie Günther Wallraf lässt sich nicht
einschüchtern general Spinola wird nach
Brasilien abgeschoben in Portugal wird
sein Netzwerk
zerschlagen der Wunsch nach mehr
Stabilität in der Bevölkerung gibt den
moderaten Kräften Aufwind die vom Westen
unterstützten Politiker in Portugal
gewinnen an Einfluss auch die in
Aussicht gestellten Wirtschaftshilfen
des Westens für das fast bankrotte Land
zeigen

ihre Unterstützung für die
portugiesischen Kommunisten zurück
gerade erst hatten Ost und West bei der
KSZE Konferenz in Helsinki die
Grundlagen für die friedliche Koexistenz

ugal es lief der Helsinki Prozess und es
war eine entspannungsperiode
international die über allen stand es
war also ein kurzer Traum ein kurzer
Sommer und dann ging Portugal in seiner
weiteren Entwicklung wieder seinen
Weg in die westeuropäischen
demokratischen Institution
zurück am 25 April
1976 stehen in Portugal die ersten
freien Parlamentswahlen an sie finden
genau Z Jahre nach dem Sturz des Regimes
statt rund 6 Millionen Portugiesen geben
ihre Stimme ab die Wahlbeteiligung liegt
bei
84%. am Ende setzen sich Portugals
Sozialisten durch Mario suarees wird
erster Premierminister general Antonio
ramagoanisch der zu den gemäßigten
Kräften gehört wird zum
Staatspräsidenten gewählt das Land hat
den Systemwechsel von der Diktatur zur
Demokratie geschafft am Ende konnte sich
der Westen durchsetzen das muss man ganz
klar sagen Portugal löst das Versprechen
der Revolution ein die ehemals
umkämpften Kolonien werden in die
Unabhängigkeit entlassen
noch heute wirkt die Nelkenrevolution in
der Verfassung nach die den Bürgern das
Recht auf Wohnraum und eine staatliche
Gesundheitsversorgung garantiert der 25
April
1974 war für Portugal der Beginn von
Demokratie und europäischer Integration
das ist die Stärkung der westlichen
Demokratien in Europa gewesen das hat ja
auch einee Symbolkraft so etwas wenn ein
Land so ein Transformationsprozess
durchmacht und dann am Ende eine
Demokratie westlicher Prägung ist
Portugals Revolution hat Spuren
hinterlassen auf der politischen
Weltbühne und in den Herzen
