Transcripts

play00:00

With over 70 plans across 16 telcos,

play00:03

it may be hard to decide which is the  best phone plan. That’s why in this video,

play00:07

I’ll be going through all the sim only plans  to analyze criterias such as network coverage,

play00:12

available data, price and additional features to  help you decide which is the best plan for you.

play00:18

As a bonus, I’ve compiled all this info into this  super detailed spreadsheet. Link down below ya.

play00:23

Also, do join my 9000 members Telegram chat group  to discuss or ask any questions that you may have.

play00:29

Alright, while there are many  plans available, essentially,

play00:32

all of them are just running on 4 networks,  Singtel, Starhub, M1 and the SIMBA network.

play00:38

So, what I did was to check out reports and  reviews of these networks from various sources.

play00:43

IMDA outdoor coverage The first report is

play00:45

from IMDA’s Nationwide Outdoor Service  Coverage for 4G networks in Q4 2023. This

play00:51

report found that Singtel was consistently  giving the best coverage for all 3 months.

play00:56

This is then followed by StarHub,  which had the second best coverage,

play01:00

then M1 and SIMBA which came in 3rd and 4th place.

play01:04

The second report is from OpenSignal’s  Mobile Network Experience Report,

play01:08

which came out in May 2024.

play01:10

This report looked at a few things, such  as overall experience, 5G experience,

play01:15

coverage, consistency and so on. First,

play01:18

it found that both Singtel and Starhub had the  highest availability of between 99.4% to 99.5%.

play01:26

Besides that, both Singtel and Starhub  scored the highest in terms of Consistent

play01:31

Quality and Reliability Experience. So  what this means is that, telcos on both

play01:36

the Singtel and Starhub networks are able  to reliably perform common network tasks,

play01:41

such as video calling, uploading an image,  or watching a video without noticeable lags.

play01:47

Lastly, the 3rd data is from Seedly’s  user reviews on Sim-only plan. And here,

play01:52

ZYM Mobile had the highest rating at 4.9,  followed by quite a number of telcos which

play01:57

had ratings of between 4.3 to 4.4, namely  Gomo, VIVIFI, giga!, MyRepublic, and redOne.

play02:04

In summary, from these tests, we can  see that telcos which are on Singtel

play02:08

and Starhub networks tend to have better  coverage, as well as network experience.

play02:12

Whereas telcos that are on M1 and SIMBA  networks had slightly lower scores.

play02:17

So, with that in mind, let’s find out  which are the best sim-only plans,

play02:21

accurate as of 6 June 2024.

play02:23

First, let’s say you are someone  who just wants the cheapest plan,

play02:27

and you don’t care too much about the data, in  that case, here are the top 3 cheapest plans.

play02:32

First we have the eight 88GB plan, which runs on  the StarHub network. While it is totally free,

play02:38

gives a whopping 88GB data, and  1GB roaming to multiple countries,

play02:42

it’s not exactly a real plan, as this  plan only lasts for 88 days. After

play02:47

which you will be required to upgrade to  other plans, which are equally awesome.

play02:52

However, the downside is that  since this is a super new telco,

play02:55

there’s no app for it yet, so if you  want to renew or top up your plan,

play02:59

you’ll need to do it physically at their  retailers or collection points. Plus,

play03:03

port-in is also not available yet, so you’ll  be getting a new number with eight Mobile.

play03:08

The next cheapest plan is SIMBA Seniors, which  only costs S$5. With it, you’ll get 20GB data,

play03:14

1GB international roaming, as well as 300  minutes talk time and 30 sms a month. Plus,

play03:20

if you ever use up your 20GB data, you’ll  still be able to access the internet with

play03:24

their unlimited data, though at capped  speeds. As for the downside? This plan

play03:29

is using the SIMBA network, which may give  a slightly lower performance. And of course,

play03:33

like what the name suggests, this plan is  only for seniors who are aged 60 and above.

play03:38

Lastly, the 3rd cheapest plan would  be Zero1 Starter, which costs $7.06

play03:43

and operates on the Singtel network. This plan  comes with 6GB data, unlimited throttled data,

play03:49

and some minimum monthly talk time and sms.  However, the downside is that because of how

play03:54

little data it has, you are actually paying a  rather high $1.18 per 1GB of data. In that case,

play04:01

it might be better to fork out a few  more dollars to enjoy a much higher data.

play04:05

Quick pause, did you know that Webull has one of  the most competitive pricing on the market?

play04:10

For the US market, during regular and extended  hours, they are only charging a low fee of

play04:15

0.025% of the trade amount, with a minimum  of just USD0.50. And for overnight hours,

play04:21

they are charging 0.03% of total trade  amount with a minimum of USD 0.89.

play04:27

For the SGX market, they are also  charging a low fee of just 0.05%

play04:32

of the trade amount, with a minimum of SGD 1.60,

play04:35

or if you are a new user, you’ll  get to enjoy commission-free

play04:39

trades for SG stock trading for 3 years*. For the Hong Kong and China market, where they

play04:43

are charging 0.02% to 0.03% with a  minimum of 12 HKD or 12 CNHs. And

play04:51

if you are a US options trader, you’ll be  glad to know that Webull is just charging

play04:56

USD0.55 per contract with no minimum fee. Besides the low fees, for the US market, Webull

play05:02

also supports US fractional shares, which means  you can start investing with as little as USD 5.

play05:07

And for the SG market, Webull  supports odd lot order,

play05:11

which means instead of having  to buy a minimum of 100 shares,

play05:15

you can buy just 1 share of eligible SGX stocks.  This makes investing affordable for new investors.

play05:21

For Webull’s latest Welcome promo, if you  use my exclusive link to sign up and fund,

play05:26

you can get up to USD400 cash vouchers* and up

play05:29

to 7%^ USD Moneybull P.A. yield capped at  USD100k for up to 180 days*, when you deposit

play05:37

and subscribe USD100K to Moneybull. This  promotion is eligible for new users only.

play05:43

1 The following respective  Moneybull Yield (i.e., USD 583,

play05:43

USD1,166 and USD3,500 respective) is based on  USD 100,000 subscription of the USD Moneybull.

play05:43

But if you are an existing user, there’s a new  Transfer-in promo where there are 4 tiers, and

play05:48

you can anywhere between USD50 to USD1500 trading  vouchers when you fulfill the requirements. This

play05:55

is eligible for both new and existing users  who have not transferred shares in before.

play06:00

So, if you are interested in taking  your investing to the next level,

play06:04

do sign up to Webull using my link down below.  With that being said, let’s get back to the video.

play06:10

Moving on, let’s take a look at plans which have  up to 100GB data. To find the best value plans,

play06:15

what I did was to sort the plans by data cost per  1GB, so that we’ll get the best bang for our buck.

play06:21

Again, the cheapest plan would be eight 88GB,

play06:24

but we’ll just ignore this plan  since it only lasts for 88 days.

play06:28

In that case, the next best value plan  would be the newest plan by ZYM Mobile

play06:32

called ZYM Mobile Roam Smart. At  $15.10, you’ll get a base 100GB data,

play06:38

plus an additional 100GB data for 12 months, an  8GB roaming data to Malaysia, and a bonus 2GB

play06:45

data to Malaysia for 12 months. A $90 Samsung  Tab Voucher. Plus since I’m their affiliate,

play06:50

you’ll also get some bonus chance to win a  Samsung Watch when you use my code KELVIN to

play06:55

sign up to them. This plan is good if you need  a ton of data in both Singapore and Malaysia.

play07:00

Then after the 12 months bonus data ends, you  can either look out for their new promotion,

play07:05

or just pay a $10.90 admin fee to  downgrade to their cheaper plans.

play07:09

Next, we have 5 plans that cost around  $10, and come with 100GB data. Personally,

play07:15

I would skip both SIMBA and Changi Mobile  plans as they have weaker network coverage.

play07:20

Then between the Zero1 plan and the  ZYM plan, they are almost identical,

play07:24

where you’ll get the same 100GB data, same  roaming data, and even the same talk time and sms.

play07:30

But the main difference is that the Zero1  plan comes with unlimited throttled data

play07:35

if you exceed your 100GB data limit,  whereas the ZYM Mobile plan waives off

play07:39

the subscription fee for the 3rd month, an  extra $90 Samsung Tab Voucher. And again,

play07:44

you can sign up to ZYM Mobile using my code KELVIN  to get some bonus chance to win the Samsung Watch.

play07:50

Meanwhile, the redOne Perfect10 which  costs $10.90 allows you to call and

play07:55

SMS from Singapore to Malaysia numbers.  This could be useful when you want to

play07:59

contact your friends or parents and  they don’t have internet access.

play08:03

And lastly, if you like to have unused  data rollover to the next month,

play08:07

you can consider the GOMO 4G Value Plan  which has the data rollover feature. This

play08:11

plan costs a little more at $15.28, has 100GB  data, plus an extra 150GB data for 6 months,

play08:20

and has 1GB roaming data to  Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand.

play08:24

Moving on, let’s check out plans that  have between 100GB to 200GB data. Again,

play08:29

we can sort this by data cost  to find the best value plans.

play08:33

First, we have the eight 188GB which only cost  $8, have 188GB data, and 8GB roaming data to

play08:41

multiple countries. But again, the downside  is that they currently don’t support port in,

play08:46

and requires you to physically go  to a store to top up your plan.

play08:50

Next, while the SIMBA and  MyRepublic plan gives 200GB,

play08:54

I would personally skip them as  the coverage may not be as good.

play08:57

Instead, I would consider the  Heya plan, which only costs $10,

play09:01

but has 128GB data, data rollover and 1GB  data to Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.

play09:08

Though, the downside of this plan is that there  is no auto monthly subscription. So, every time

play09:13

your 30 days is up, you’ll need to manually renew  the plan via the app or at a physical outlet.

play09:18

Otherwise, if you need more data, the  ZYM Mobile Roam Smart plan would give

play09:22

you 100GB base data and extra 100GB  for 12 months, and just costs $15.10.

play09:29

But if you want a plan that has more data  permanently, you can check out the VIVIFI Binge 50

play09:34

plan which costs $18 comes with 200GB data, 1GB  roaming to Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.

play09:41

Or if you are worried that you might overrun your  data, you can consider Zero1 50u One, which costs

play09:47

$18.22, has 150GB data, and 1GB roaming data, and  most importantly has unlimited throttled data.

play09:55

Moving on, let’s check out plans  that have 200GB data or more.

play09:59

For this, there are 2 plans which offer 1TB worth  of data. Though in terms of price and coverage,

play10:05

I would prefer to go for the giga! (1TB) plan, as  it’s cheaper at $28, and uses the Starhub network.

play10:12

Unused data can be rolled over for 2 months,  capped at 1TB. So you can actually accumulate

play10:18

quite a lot of data when using this plan.  Besides that, you’ll also get 6GB roaming

play10:23

data in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand,  India and South Korea, so that’s nice.

play10:27

But if you don’t really need that much data,  you can check out the eight 388GB plan, which

play10:33

only cost $18, and comes with 388GB, and has 58GB  roaming data in Malaysia. But again, the downside

play10:41

is that you are unable to port in your number,  and it currently only supports physical top up.

play10:46

Otherwise the giga! (400GB) plan  has a similar amount of 400 GB data,

play10:51

costs $20.37, and comes with 4GB roaming  in 5 countries, including Malaysia.

play10:58

Moving on, let’s also check out the  5G plans. This is suitable if you

play11:02

are always gaming or streaming on the go,  and you need a plan that has better speed.

play11:06

If we skip plans that are on the M1 network,  the best value plan would be the GOMO 5G plan,

play11:12

which cost $25.46, and comes with 300GB data,  supports data rollover, 3GB roaming to Malaysia,

play11:20

Indonesia, and Thailand for 12 months,  and has a $3.25 discount for 6 months.

play11:26

This is followed by the MyRepublic 5G Ultimate  plan, which runs on the StarHub network. This

play11:31

plan costs $24.95, has 7GB/day, after which you  will have unlimited throttled data, 1GB roaming

play11:39

data to Malaysia and Indonesia for 6 months, some  KKday voucher as well as Samsung Mobile Voucher.

play11:45

Likewise the MyRepublic 5G Plus plan is also  quite value for money. This plan costs $19.95,

play11:52

has 150GB data, unlimited throttled  data, 1GB roaming data to Malaysia

play11:57

and Indonesia for 6 months, as well as a  KKday voucher and Samsung Mobile Voucher.

play12:02

Last but not least, if you are someone who often  travels to Malaysia to eat their good food,

play12:06

have relaxing staycations, and hopefully  not to steal their subsidized petrol,

play12:10

here are some of the plans that give you a  decent amount of data roaming in Malaysia.

play12:14

First, the CIrcles Life 4G and 5G plan  has 100GB roaming data to Malaysia,

play12:20

though these 2 plans are rather  expensive at $30 over dollars.

play12:24

So, if you want better value  plans, you can check out the

play12:27

giga! (1TB) plan which has 6GB roaming data to  Malaysia, eight 188GB plan and eight 388GB plan

play12:28

which has 8GB roaming data, as  well as ZYM Mobile Roam Smart,

play12:39

which has a base 8GB roaming data and an  additional 2GB roaming data for 12 months.

play12:44

So, that was a quick comparison of  the best sim-only plan. Hopefully

play12:48

now you have a clearer idea which  is the best plan you should go for.
