Transcripts
hey everyone shis here and today I want
to talk about hero specific guides or
rather um how to find guides for
yourself and how to build your own and
learn Heroes self-sufficiently without
use of specific hero guides for the time
being um and the reason I don't do
specific hero guides right now is
because I think that heroes are changing
all the time um since we get patches
every Thursday um there's no point in
making hero specific guides today
because I think that they're going to
get um heroes are subject to change
abilities might get swapped out items
get buffed and nerfed and moved around
so I think that the information would
quickly go out of date so um what I'm
hoping to do is equip you with some
tools to get better at building your
road guides and finding how to build
Heroes and seeing what play Styles they
go for so the first place I go when I
want to make my own guide or learn how
to play a hero is I'll go to the high
MMR spreadsheet that is being curated by
uh community members in the Discord and
that'll be down in the com or down in
the description below um and it'll
basically have a bunch of Replay IDs
that you can put into game and you can
take a look at and we're going to hop
into that now so here's our high MMR
replay spreadsheet um and it's pretty
long and it's a list that's Community
submitted and Community curated and I
can explain later uh how people know
their highr but it's kind of a confusing
system right now um but basically any of
these that are marked as approved is
they're good examples of Heroes uh
replays and they're not all exactly
examples of Stomps they're usually
uh pretty balanced games where that
person performs well on the hero and
they use tricks and like uh Tech to make
it a win um basically they play well and
it's not a easy 18-minute stomp but
rather a back and forth battle and you
can see the hero played to its fullest
potential so when I want to look for a
hero um I'll go to the top and I'll
short it sort it by a to z um and then
I'll also sort the match ID by time as
well oops how do I get this going at the
same time um I'll do that and today I
want to look at hay replays um because
I've been playing hay and I want to see
what other players are building and I
want to learn from them um and I've
looked at a sh for replay in the past uh
he's a haze player and what I'll do is
I'll copy this replay this is a new one
to me I haven't seen this one um but
it's good when they're usually more
recent uh time stamps because you
essentially want to see one from the
past week if you're looking to build
that hero for the week because sometimes
with the balance patches like items go
out of meta and uh stuff shifts so if
it's within the week before Thursday I
think that's the best kind of Replay you
can get so um but I'm going to use this
one for the time being and then once I
have my replay I hop back in game I'll
back out of here and I'll go to the
watch tab um and then additionally I
wanted to comment back on that highr how
do people know their highr um typically
the games that are in these featured
matches section um they are high MMR
replays you're going to see a lot of
people um pop up in here is like the
same names over and over and uh if you
go into the games they're usually pretty
try hard pretty sweaty so uh this is
also a good source to look for replays
but it's not necessarily um the One-Stop
shop uh but you can always jump into one
of these and learn stuff from the
players that are in here but after we
have our copied match ID we can search
by our match ID and paste it in there
and that'll load up our match and yeah
I've actually looked at this Replay in
the past so I already have it downloaded
um and then what we can do is we can
download it all right and now that we've
loaded in and everyone's on the suppes
we're finally watching our replay we're
going to find the the player that we
want to play and this is a ha replay so
I'm going to right click and left click
to find his perspective I'm going to
press C to change the camera view so
it's in the first person or I guess the
camera view that you normally play in
and I'll start watching from this
person's perspective and essentially at
the same time what I'll do is I'll open
up a notepad file and I'll take notes on
a couple different things I'll I'll take
notes on how they Lane um like what I
notice them doing in the start of the
lane what I notice them doing throughout
it um I'll note what they build first
I'll not what they level I'll note the
items they buy and I'll note I guess
just General things about how their play
style is so I'm going to show you an
example of what my notepad file looks
like so these are notes from a sh 4
Replay that I watched in the past uh and
there's a few things that I note I put
the match ID there in case I want to go
back to it and then I'll note the items
that they build specifically in order to
um I think that's something that can get
confusing is that there's 500 Soul items
1,200 Soul items 3,000 Soul items and
sometimes they mix up the order so I
know a lot of Hayes players recently
have been rushing Tesla bullets uh so
they've been getting a couple single
tier 500 items and then going up to
Testa quite quickly I also focus on
unlock priority for their abilities um
so as your abilities are popping up uh
sometimes they will take different ones
in different orders um there's usually
one that you like to start at level one
with and run with that and then what
your leveling doesn't always match up
with what your um skill build is so you
also know my skill build there it's just
four numbers but what that is
corresponding to is the the amount that
I've put points into for each of the
different uh skills so 00 obviously like
nothing and then like 20 uh 20 it would
be two points in dagger 0 points in my
uh smoke bomb two points in the passive
so looking back at the game playay um I
want to talk a little bit about what I
take note of in terms of gameplay style
uh so so not that necessarily the things
that are quite literal that you can
easily like read off the screen on what
abilities they're leveling up and stuff
like that but rather some of the
techniques that their hero is using um I
also want to point out right now uh that
uh sh for here is going and he's going
to hit all of the different pots at 3
minutes um that's really big you should
do that I I feel like a lot of people do
that but this is something that I note
and it's something that I've learned
from for myself from watching replays
like this is like he grows a netw worth
lead by going and running through all
those pots collecting Souls from them um
so this is something that I learned
specifically from this replay when I
watched it um and then he'll return to
his Lane he'll shove it out and he'll go
back and maybe hit some pot somewhere
else um but I I note things like that
where it's like when he's deciding to
take trade
when he's deciding to go in and fight
people um and when he decides to chase
stuff like that I also want to take note
of this uh at 4 minutes he's backing to
hit his creep Camp um he's going in and
he's hitting that level one Camp getting
some extra Souls finding extra sources
of souls on the map um and he's
returning to Lane buying items when he
can uh stuff like that he's breaking
boxes whenever he can just trying to
maximize the souls that he's finding
around the map I would note that he's
always going back to his creep wave he's
always keeping them pushed out but he's
not necessarily looking for kills uh he
seems to be farming contently and not
necessarily feeling the need to go run
over to the lellow Lane and try to kill
the Lash or anything like that um he he
seems to be wanting to play his own game
and he's kind of playing safe um and
amassing that gold lead not through
kills which could be unreliable he could
end up dying um but rather through uh
collecting souls and he's going to go
into the subway tunnel here he's going
to collect boxes here this is also an
awesome Source uh of Souls and something
that I also incorporated into my game I
realized I'm leaving all this all this
all these Souls on the map and you need
to go collect them and if no one's doing
it you you should be the person doing it
um but always I think uh something to
note here too is that the tower is safe
and it's not getting pushed it's not
getting hurt right now so he had the
opportunity to go do that so once I see
a little bit of laning phase um and I
feel like I've learned from it uh I'll
skip kind of through the replay I'll
hold Tab and I'll I'll click on
different these little tick markers or
kills or deaths and I'll see what led to
a successful kill so uh I'll note that
he led with dagger and then he ran up
and followed and chased with good aim
um secured the souls as he ran away
stuff like that uh I think just kind of
watching good players play and having a
critical mind about it and and actively
asking yourself like why are they doing
that uh is a really good way to just
frame it for yourself forward I see that
there was a team fight here um there's a
kill and then a death that happens right
after so I I'd be interested into what
happens
um it's good to note that lash can kill
a haze quite easily uh all it takes is
one Al and things like that
I think it's important to note when
certain Heroes can kill other other
heroes in the game too uh I think
sometimes like in this game specifically
we just saw the Lash kill the haze and
and the Lash is pretty down in net worth
but I think it's because he could
displace her and do a lot of damage and
knock her up and and basically lock down
the slippery hero uh he was able to do
that so um on top of items and abilities
and farm sources I think I also try to
keep note of that too like when do they
use discretion to go in uh when do they
kind of hide from other Heroes like uh
who killed who in what scenarios uh
despite the farm difference um things
like that but I think this is also a
really good example right now of farming
patterns uh this is something I'll watch
too is I'll see uh although patterns
aren't very set in stone or anything but
I'll see how they move from Lane to Lane
they're going to push yellow Lane but
they on the way from Orange to Yellow
they hit two camps on the way there um
and here's another one so this is
something I take note of is when do they
hit creeps you'll end up making more uh
conclus conclusions for yourself and
learn some of the ins and outs of the
heroes themselves and circling back to
the Discord I wanted to also draw your
attention which I'm you probably found
this video in this section but um
there's a lot of hero Specialists and a
lot of them take the time to write about
what their experiences are and builds
that they've made if you want to find a
specific build that someone has
experimented with and maybe they preface
it with some of the decisions they're
making and why they're buying these
items so this is also a really good
source to get jump started on it's not a
YouTube video yet but eventually I'll
get to that point and I'll make ones for
each hero but for now this is also a
really good source I also want to bring
your attention to the in-game build
section to people will go through and
they'll add their own in-game builds
into this brow browse build section and
they'll add their builds to the
suggested items category and they'll
pick them out and curate the items for
you uh and this is a good source to also
find item builds and kind of streamline
it directly into game it can help you
locate your items faster when you get
into game and a lot of the time if
someone makes it build on disc they'll
also have a corresponding build in here
as well thanks for watching my videos uh
I'm having fun making these and
recording them and and trying to get the
education out into the into the masses
right now um I know that these things
have helped me and um I've had some
friends that have tried to pick up the
game and it's been a little frustrating
not to have this type of content so um
I'm trying to bring it into the world so
let me know what else I can help you out
with and uh what else what other topics
are out there that you are having
struggles with and and want some more
information on and I'll be happy to make
it
um but yeah thanks for watching uh
subscribe whatever YouTuber people
say and yeah let me know let me know
what else I can do for you thanks
