Outlines
😀 Addressing Misunderstandings and Originality of Work
The speaker addresses a concern about their work being used in another YouTuber's video, expressing their initial reluctance to engage in drama, especially with someone they admire. They assert the originality of their content and their unwillingness to resort to proving it due to the self-evident nature of their videos. They mention a conversation with the YouTuber, Zealand, who apologized for unknowingly using their work. The speaker also hints at unresolved questions but chooses to focus on their football manager research instead, introducing the topic of the video, which is about maximizing the quality of youth intake in the game.
📊 Experimenting with Variables Affecting Youth Intake Quality
The speaker outlines an experiment to determine which variables in the game of Football Manager affect the quality of the youth intake. They set the variables of AZ Alkmaar, a Dutch club, to middle values and then changed them to maximum or minimum values to observe the impact on the attributes of the youth players. The variables tested include the attributes of the head of Youth Development, youth facilities, junior coaching, youth recruitment, and the nation's youth rating. The speaker used a control group and bar graphs to analyze the data, looking for a clear correlation between these variables and the youth intake's attributes.
🔍 Analyzing the Impact of Head of Youth Attributes
The speaker discusses the results of their experiment concerning the attributes of the head of Youth Development and their correlation with the CA and PA ratings of the youth intake. They find no significant impact of these attributes on the youth intake's CA and PA ratings. However, they do observe a correlation between the head of Youth's professionalism, ambition, and the same attributes of the youth intake, suggesting that these attributes may influence the players' professionalism and ambition.
🏟️ Club Variables' Influence on Youth Intake
The speaker presents the findings on how club-related variables, such as youth training facilities, junior coaching, youth recruitment, and the nation's youth rating, impact the youth intake's quality. They find a positive correlation between the level of youth training facilities and junior coaching with the CA and PA ratings of the youth intake. However, the level of youth recruitment and the nation's youth rating do not show a clear impact on these ratings. The speaker also notes a potential weak correlation between junior coaching and the determination of the youth intake.
📈 Timing of Variables Change and Its Effect on Youth Intake
The speaker conducts another set of experiments to see if changing variables before the youth preview event in December affects the quality of the youth intake. They find that changing the level of youth recruitment before this event can significantly increase the PA ratings of the youth intake, but only if the level is above 10 out of 20. The attributes of the head of Youth Development, however, do not seem to impact the youth intake regardless of when they are changed.
🏆 Summary of Key Findings on Youth Intake Quality
The speaker summarizes the key findings from their experiments. They conclude that the professionalism and ambition of the head of Youth Development, the level of youth training facilities, junior coaching, and the youth rating of the club's home nation have a correlative relationship with the quality of the youth intake. A high level of youth recruitment can also improve the PA ratings of the youth intake if changed before the youth preview event. The speaker advises viewers to follow the insights provided to enhance their chances of getting a high-quality youth intake in Football Manager.

Transcripts
hello everyone
when I saw Zealand's video on wonder
kids I recognize my work being used in
it straight away
I chose not to respond to it at the time
because I didn't want to create any
dramas on YouTube least of all with a
YouTuber that I've liked and admired for
a long time
if anyone tells you that the tests and
the experiments that I present to you on
my in my videos is not my own work then
it's just not true
I can easily prove that my work is my
own work but I'm not going to because I
believe my videos speak for themselves
regarding their authenticity
I did not receive any testing results
from any third party for the purpose of
making my videos I don't know this Steve
guy from any website I've never heard of
him
I've never asked anyone to provide me
with some test results that that I could
pass off as my own work in my videos
I've never paid anyone or any website to
do any testing for me all the tests and
all the experiments that I show you in
my videos have been done right here in
Melbourne Australia are using my own
desktop no Outsourcing of any kind has
been done
I've talked to Zealand last night he's
apologized he told me that uh he didn't
know that he was using my work in his
videos which I'm happy to believe
I must say there are still some
lingering questions I still don't know
the full story uh regarding like what
happened between Zealand and his team
members but you know what I'm not
interested
not all questions have to be entered in
life and I'm just happy to move on
all I want to do is to focus on my uh
football manager research I get tons of
research requests from you guys every
day and uh there are tons of work that
need to be done
and uh you all know it takes me days if
not weeks to complete each project so
I'd I'd rather just get on with it
well today's video is on a topic that's
been requested requested by you guys for
a long time
I believe I've made some important
discoveries that can change the way you
play football manager so I'm very
excited to share my findings with you
today
so enjoy
[Music]
g'day everyone Max here from
evidence-based Football manager this
video is not part of my training
analysis series because today I'm
talking about something else
the topic for today's video is youth
intake every season in football manager
usually around March or April you get a
fresh crop of youngsters who join your
Club
and a few months before that are usually
around December every year your head of
Youth Development gives you a quick
preview about the overall quality of the
youth intake that that you'll be getting
that season sometimes your head of Youth
will tell you that you're getting an
excellent youth intake which is the
sexiest message that you can get playing
football manager and sometimes you'll
tell you that you're getting a crappy
youth intake which just ruins your mood
for the whole day
so how do you maximize your chances of
getting a high quality youth intake
every season that's the question I'll be
investigating in this video today
for today's experiments I'm using AZ
alkma which is one of the clubs in the
Dutch eredivisi
actually it doesn't really matter which
club I use for these tests since I'll be
changing the variables around anyway I
just chose a Dutch glove because the
area is easy in real life is famous for
nurturing it nurturing and bringing up
young footballers so it kind of fits the
theme for the experiment that I'm doing
today
I want to clarify two terms that I'll be
using in today's video youth intake
preview or simply youth preview is the
event that takes place in December every
season where your head of Youth
Development gives you a preview on the
upcoming youth intake
for AZ alkma youth preview happens on
the 24th of December every year although
I can't say for sure whether our youth
previews happen on the same date for
every other club in the game
youth intake announcement or simply
youth announcement is the event when the
youngsters actually arrive at the club
for your assessment the date when youth
announcement happens is a bit more
unpredictable
whenever I changed a variable of AZ
alkma and uh and when I made a separate
save file youth announcement for AZ
alphama triggered on different dates
sometime between late March to early
April
for most clubs in Europe youth
announcements happen on a day on a
random day between March and April
you can check the youth announcement
dates for any club that's loaded in your
safe by going into this part here and
you go to world you click transfers and
you change this bit to youth intake and
yeah right here you can see the youth
announcement dates for every single Club
that's currently loaded in your save
fire
I've identified some variables in the
game that may or may not have an impact
on the quality of your youth intake
those variables are youth facilities
Junior coaching youth recruitment
and if you go to the page for your
club's home nation you can see the
nation's youth rating which I also
believe affects the quality of the youth
and finally if you take a look at your
head of Youth Development the attributes
of your head of Youth may also affect
the quality of your youth intake
I started today's experiments by setting
these variables of AZ altma to their
middle values so youth facilities Junior
coaching and youth rating youth
recruitment works at as 10 out of 20.
and uh the if I go to the hop the page
for Holland uh Holland's youth rating
was set as 100 out of 200.
if I go to uh the head of Youth
Development yeah all these attributes
were set as 10 out of 20.
the first experiment was to see what
happens when you change one of these
variables on the day before the youth
intake announcement
I set up a save file with Az altma where
I know youth announcement happens on the
9th of April so I saved the game on the
8th of April which is one day before the
youth announcement
first I needed to establish the control
so um I progressed the game for one day
through the 9th of April after the youth
announcement has taken place and I
recorded the attributes of the youth
candidates who have just arrived at the
club
five types of player attributes were
recorded for these tests CA ratings PA
ratings professionalism ambition and
determination
I repeated the exact same process 20
times to build up a sample pool for the
control group
I'll show you the results for the
control yeah so the average CA ratings
of the youth intake was 47.7 the average
PA rating was
87.8 average professionalism was 11.4
our average ambition was 8.8 and average
determination was 9.6
once I established the control I tried
changing one of these variables either
to their maximum or minimum values and I
repeated the same experiment process
for example uh in this part here you can
see I've changed the working with
youngster attribute of the head of Youth
Development to one out of 20. and here
the working with youngster attribute was
changed to 20 out of 20.
and let's go through the results
together
I've turned all these results into a
series of bar graphs
now in order to make the conclusion that
a variable in the game has an impact on
the quality of the youth intake I want
to see a nice three-step increment in
these bar graphs
when the variable is set as its minimum
value like 1 out of 20 the bar should be
the small the height of the bar should
be the smallest and when the variable is
set at its maximum value like 20 out of
20. the height of the bar should be the
tallest I want to see a clear three-step
positive uptrend in in these bar graphs
before I make the conclusion that there
is a correlated relationship between a
variable and the quality of the youth
intake
let's take a look at this first graph
here which shows you the relationship
between the attributes of the head of
Youth Development and the players CA
ratings and Pa ratings
the head of Youth attributes that I
tested here include the working with
young star attribute judging player
ability judging player potential
professionalism ambition determination
and also the reputation of the head of
Youth Development
so I don't think I'm seeing any obvious
three-step increments from these bar
graphs I know there's a little bit of
fluctuations in in the height of these
bars but a little bit of fluctuation
here and there can be attributed to
random statistical noise
so from these results it seems that the
act the various attributes of the head
of Youth have no impact on the ca
ratings and the PA ratings of your youth
intake
[Music]
let's take a look at this second graph
here which shows you the relationship
between the head of Youth attributes and
the players professionalism ambition and
determination
I think I am noticing something here
take a look at these bars here that show
you the relationship between
professionalism ambition and
determination of the head of Youth and
the same attributes of the youth intake
when professionalism ambition and
determination pad for short of the head
of Youth were set as one out of 20. the
youth intakes professionalism was 10
10.6 on average and their ambition was
7.8 on average whereas when the head of
Youth PID attributes were set as 20 out
of 20. the youth intakes professionalism
was 12.8 on average and their ambition
was 9.9 on average so you can see a
correlation between the professionalism
of the head of Youth and the
professionalism of the youth intake and
also between the ambition of the head of
Youth and the ambition of the youth
intake
[Music]
correlation was not observed for the
determination attribute
now let's take a look at some Club
related variables and their impacts on
the quality of the youth intake the
variables that I tested include youth
training facilities Junior coaching
youth Recruitment and the youth rating
of Holland again I've prepared uh two
graphs here the first graph here shows
you the impact on the player's CA and Pa
ratings and the second graph here shows
you the impact on the players
professionalism ambition and
determination
if you take a look at this graph here I
can spot some nice three-step increments
first of all uh right here you can see
that there's a correlation between the
club's youth training facilities and the
players CA ratings
when when the level of youth training
facilities of AZ alkma was set as 1 out
of 20. the youth intake had an average
CA rating of 40.2
whereas when youth facilities was set as
20 out of 20 the youth intake had an
average CA rating of 49.8
so the level of youth training
facilities of your Club will have an
impact on the starting CA rating of your
youth intake
let's take a look at Junior coaching
look at that now we're talking
there is a clear positive correlation
between the level of Junior coaching of
your club and the ca ratings of your
youth intake as well as their pa ratings
I won't read these values out to you one
by one because I reckon the correlation
here is pretty clear
high level of Junior coaching of your
Club will improve the ca ratings and the
PA ratings of your youth intake
with youth recruitment um I don't think
I'm seeing anything here these bars are
more or less the same height which means
no clear link between the level of Youth
recruitment of your club and the quality
of the youth intake
if you take a look at the youth ratings
of Holland you can see that uh there's a
clear correlation with the PA ratings of
the youth intake
as I change the youth rating of Holland
from 1 out of 200 to 200 out of 200 the
PA ratings of the youth intake also went
up
youth rating of your club's home nation
isn't something that's really within
your controller I don't know exactly how
youth rating Works in fm23 I I think I
think a few years back uh youth rating
used to be like fixed values for all
invasions in the game but uh I think now
they can change as you progress through
your saves maybe depending on the
performance of your nation in
international competitions like the
world cup or the Euro if I'm not
mistaken anyway the test that I've done
here proves that high National Youth
rating leads to a high PA ratings of the
youth intake but not their CA ratings
let's take a look at this graph here
which shows you the relationship between
the club related variables and the PID
attributes of the youth intake
all right so I don't think I'm noticing
any clear three-step increments from
These Bars maybe here if you take a look
at these Gray colored bars there could
be a bit of correlation between junior
coaching and the determination of the
youth intake
when Junior coaching of AZ altma was set
as 1 out of 20 the youth intake had an
average determination of 9.1 whereas
when Junior coaching was set as 20 out
of 20 the youth intake had an average
determination of 10.2
it's not a very strong correlation
though
maybe what we're seeing here is just uh
just due to the fact that Junior
coaching has an impact on their CA
ratings of players remember from the
previous graph that Junior coaching of
your Club affects the ca ratings of your
youth intake
and since determination is a is a player
attribute that is part of the ca rating
it makes sense that if the ca ratings of
the youth go up determination will also
go up in tandem
apart from determination though I don't
think I'm noticing any uh anything
interesting from any of these other
variables in this graph
so the conclusion that I have to draw at
this point is that all these Club
related variables apart from Junior
coaching do not have an impact on the
PID attributes of the youth intake
so far I've found that the attributes of
the head of Youth Development and the
level of Youth recruitment of your Club
don't affect the ca ratings and the PA
ratings of your youth intake when those
variables were changed just before the
youth announcement event so I thought
what if you change those variables all
the way back in December before the
youth preview event
to answer this question I conducted
another set of experiments where the
variables were changed just before the
youth preview
for AZ alkma youth preview happens on
the 24th of December I made a save file
on the 23rd of December one day before
the youth preview I changed the
variables on the 23rd of December then I
Pro then I progressed the game until
April the year after after the youth
announcement event has taken place then
I recorded the ca ratings and the PA
ratings of the youth intake
you might ask why don't I just progress
the game for one day uh until uh to the
24th of December and record the preview
that's given by the head of Youth
Development
the main reason is that at youth intake
previews the amount of information
that's given by your head of Youth is
very limited like he might tell you that
you're getting a good quality intake
That season with two players rated C but
that's way not enough detail for me to
make an accurate assessment on the exact
quality of the youth intake I need to
look at the ca ratings and the PA
ratings of the youth before I can say
for sure whether there is a link between
a variable in the game and the quality
of the youth intake
so because of this in these tests the
variables were changed before the youth
preview in December but the outcome of
those changes were only measured uh in
April the year after when the youth
candidates actually arrived at the club
and let's take a look at the results
again I have a series of bar graphs here
that show you the relationship between
these variables and the youth Intex CA
ratings and Pa ratings just like before
I'm looking for a well-defined
three-step positive uptrend before I can
draw a link between a variable and the
quality of the youth intake
so I don't think I'm seeing any
three-step increments anyway but I am
noticing something interesting right
here in the control group when youth
recruitment of AZ alkma was set as 10
out of 20 the average PA ratings of the
youth was 90.2
but when youth recruitment was changed
to 20 out of 20 the PA rating jumped to
97.9 which is a pretty significant jump
that that I don't think it can be
attributed just to random statistical
noise
it seems that a high level of Youth
recruitment above 10 out of 20 will
raise the PA ratings of your players if
the level of Youth recruitment is
changed before the youth preview event
in December remember from the previous
experiment that changing the level of
use recruitment in April just before the
youth announcement event had no bearing
on the quality of the youth intake
uh but changing the level of Youth
recruitment before the youth preview
event in December does seem to have an
impact on the PA ratings of the youth
intake
the attributes of the head of Youth
Development on the other hand are seem
to have no impact on the ca ratings or
the PA ratings or the youth intake are
regardless of the timing of their change
all right time to make a summary of
today's findings
one the following variables in the game
have a correlative relationship with the
quality of your youth intake
professionalism of your head of Youth
Development
ambition of your head of Youth
Development
the level of youth training facilities
of your Club
the level of Junior coaching of your
club and finally the youth rating of
your club's home nation
these variables will have their effects
on the quality of the youth intake as
long as they are changed just before the
youth announcement event that triggers
some time between March and April
2. a high level of Youth recruitment of
your Club will raise the PA ratings of
your youth intake but only if an
improvement in the level of Youth
recruitment is made before the youth
preview event which happens sometime in
December also youth recruitment has to
be above 10 out of 20 for it to have any
tangible impact on the quality of your
youth intake
right folks that's it for today's video
uh thanks for watching and uh yeah just
follow the advice I gave you in this
video and the god of football manager
will bless you with an excellent crop of
Wonder kids every year okay I'll see you
guys next time bye
