Transcripts
fell today's video is a little bit
different than our average upload here
we don't normally do tech reviews
however LG who is the sponsor of today's
video was kind enough to send us their
new 42in LG OLED Flex which is anything
but your average gaming TV now you heard
me right gaming TV which is why over the
past few weeks we've been using the
screen for both gaming and video
consumption to hone in on what makes
this TV so special I'm going to start
with its flexible panel now as it
suggests yes the LG OLED Flex display is
flexible looking around the back you're
greeted by two metal arms that interface
with the edges of the display these arms
are motorized so at the click of a
button the LG OLED Flex transforms from
a flat 42-in TV to an immersive curved
desktop display dude this is wild the
biggest surprise to this though is that
you're not limited to just one level of
curve LG allows you to customize how
much curve you want with 20 different
levels maxing out at a 900 R curve which
at this size is plenty to encapsulate
your entire Vision if you're sitting at
a desk now what makes this technology
possible is the 4K OLED panel LG is
using not only does this mean perfect
blacks and high contrast with great
colors but it also means that the
display is very thin and bendable the
fact that you can go between the both of
these is what's so amazing and
simultaneously it's packed with all the
features that make lgtv so enjoyable to
use for instance the LG OLED Flex is
equipped with LG's web OS which means
you're not tied down to a computer or a
console you can use this as a TV and
access all of your favorite apps and I
feel the need to clarify that yes the LG
OLED Flex includes a remote for
navigation now listen don't worry if
you're like me and you lose the remote
to the TV there's a way to navigate the
menus underneath the display seems like
some pretty General things but you'd be
surprised guys I have bought monitors in
the past year that literally had no
buttons and no way of changing anything
on the Monitor and if you lost the
remote you're screwed and would be
required to buy a second remote now with
the LG OLED Flex is really good at here
is for my folks that do go in and out of
that hey I want to be working at a desk
to wait I think I'm going to kick back
for just a second eat some lunch and
watch a couple YouTube videos now we
already talked about the 4K OLED panel
but I want to focus on the size it's
hard to find that sweet spot when you're
putting a TV this close to a user's face
especially when you have to consider
different desk sizes sitting distances
are you on a yoga ball standing desk all
these things man for me personally 42 in
is a lot but because I have the ability
to curve it and flex it whatever way I
want the ability to adjust its height
its tilt its swivel there's a lot of
play here and what ends up happening is
you find yourself looking at those old
PC monitors you had before and thinking
yeah I think it's time to trade this one
out something of which I didn't think I
would ever say now I want to mentioned
that the LG OED Flex is nothing short of
perfection when it comes to gaming
performance at .1 millisecond response
time it's in a line above the best TVs
on the market and it's equipped with
HDMI 2.1 which as you know we talked
about a ton of HDMI 2.1 back in December
and you know what's so crazy was that
that sponsorship for HDMI 2.1 was
literally HDMI 2.1 awareness just simply
pointing out that HDMI 2.1 is here and
it's something that's going to greatly
enhance your gaming experience amongst
other things now considering the sheer
size of the screen somehow someway LG is
still pumping out 4K resolution at a 120
HZ refresh rates that's wild the LG OLED
Flex also supports g-sync and a variable
refresh rate so no worries about screen
tearing while playing those fast-paced
games and look I'm very particular about
especially like Destiny where there's a
lot of moving Parts whether it's PVP or
PVE the last thing you want to be
looking at is a bunch of distortion and
something I've noticed before in other
curved displays is the edges start to
lose their color now some other features
I'm going to bring up that adds to that
viewing experience the LG OED Flex
gaming TV comes equipped with colored
backlights that can be used to customize
and match the movie you're watching or
the music that you're listening to and
yes you can use the LG OED Flex to
listen to music it has a speaker system
built into the stand and it actually
sounds pretty good granted I normally
always play with headphones on but
that's the beautiful thing here it's the
ability to go back and forth between
being that sweaty gamer with your nose
damn near touching the monitor to
leaning back and just chilling out in
power roll to put it all in perspective
there used to be a trade-off between
high resolution and high refresh rate
displays you either got one or the other
and believe me I used to be that guy
that would rock 240 frames at 1080P and
I thought that was the way I was going
to game forever but fellas I'm old I'm
30 plus I guess that's not old but I'm
getting older and I find myself not
really caring about the highest refresh
rates suddenly I care about colors
vibrancy resolution and if you can do
all of that at a 120 refresh rate bye
God guys I'm good so in conclusion guys
I like it we're seeing more crossover
between what feels like two sides of the
same coin why shouldn't my gaming PC
also be the best place in my home to
consume video content as a PC user I've
always been slightly jealous of the
console experience I know I give you
guys hell but at the same time I'm
envious you have the ability to camp out
on the couch lounging in Comfort while
also gaming one minute I could be
sweating trying my heartest to carry or
get carried in whatever PVP content and
the next minute I could be sitting back
hanging out enjoying a movie movie on
Netflix in the comfort of my living room
the LG OLED Flex brings that experience
to my gaming setup I think if you're
looking for that perfect hybrid between
gaming and content consumption this is
definitely the OLED gaming TV for you
fellas if you're interested down below
we'll have a link where you can check it
out for yourself and once more I'd like
to thank LG for sending this thing over
I've had a hell of a time with it I'm
excited to see this Tech progress even
further into the future fellas and
ladies thank you all for coming and
watching and as always slap that like
button like your mama told you right
