Transcripts
okay well good morning to everyone and
as we know the time is at hand of 9:00
shop where we typically start our
lessons off and as always when we start
the lesson we open with prayer because
it's always good to have the presence of
the Holy Spirit amongst us as we talk
about God's word and our desire is that
we will get a better understanding of
what this word is saying to us not only
then but also how it speaks to us upon
this very day so those words being said
we ask that we all may rise to our feet
and collectively as a group
that we may be of one Accord and of one
mind as we get involved in this lesson
to day so shall we pray father it's once
again upon this hour and upon this day
that each and every one of us are ever
so thankful for you once again giving us
the opportunity to set foot inside these
walls that we may come together as a
group to discuss what thus sayith this
your word and as always dear Lord our
desire and our understanding is to
understand this word for the events that
took place during its time and how he
even has that practical application upon
us this very day and dear Lord we ask
for blessing upon those that are here
and those that still may be on their way
for it's that precious and that adorable
name of the Lord and the Savior who we
worship who we call Jesus that we ask
this prayer for it's in Jesus name we
give this prayer amen
amen well folks today we are in the
fifth and final lesson of unit number
two even though we in unit number two
unit number two still falls under that
overall heading about three months study
in this quarter of that of Jesus Is God
and we've been talking about how Jesus
is God and how we have to have
confirmation of it hence this is why the
writer has termed every unit confirmed
by in unit one you know we Jesus Is God
and this is confirmed by his power over
death that was five lessons that dealt
with Jesus performing Miracles and
showing how he had power over death
something that no man can do as far as
give life put the soul back into the
body
and to bring the body back to life only
Christ himself could do that and this is
confirmed in showing that he is God but
those Five Lessons was about power over
death now we we dealing with Five
Lessons or the the last of Five Lessons
dealing with how Jesus Is God how that
is confirmed is that is by his mighty
Miracles the things in which he did the
Miracles in which he did the key thing
about all these lessons we have
discussed is that it's not the miracle
really that's the most important factor
here of course you have to have the
miracle to get to step a to step B but
the importance about the miracle is what
was the factor what was the underlying
reason what was he trying to show us in
the end is for this reason Jesus would
always say I do this as a sign unto you
because you can remember even with not
in these lessons but in the Bible he
talks about how him and the disciples
were walking remember there was a man
that was blind and the things they said
was why was this man born blind did he
sin or did his parent sin that he was
born this way and Jesus says neither but
he was born this way that the works of
God may be what manifested other words
that they may be shown and this is why
Jesus now did a miracle to show them
once again that he was God and in those
five lesson we had the first one dealt
with Jesus Miracle of turning water into
wine now of course you look at the
miracle everybody always talks about
Jesus turned water into wine you hear
that all the time but what they talk
about is the miracle of him turning
water into wine let me say that again so
yall can see where I'm going with this
we talk about the miracle of turning
water into wine but that wasn't the
purpose of the story you remember the
very last thing was the most important
he could remember he said the beginning
my hour has not yet come what has this
to do with me but after he did the
miracle he says these words and then his
disciples began to believe on him the
purpose of doing the miracle was to show
them that he was God so the most
important thing was not the actual
Miracle itself it was what he showed
them by doing the miracle and even in
the second lesson that we dealt with
after that one which Di and Bush brought
you was Jesus authority over
demons this was a miracle Jesus dealt
with that which is demonic something I
always like to say it this way that's
something you don't play with is the
Demonic because you're dealing with
angels but we're talking about Fallen
Angels which man has no power over the
Angels the Angels know the power that
man has that why Angels do not fear man
but you remember Christ he cast them out
and Jesus brother said in the writings
of James to he says Thou believest in
God thus th thou does well he said even
the Devils believe but then he added
these words and do tremble you know why
they tremble they know who Jesus is they
know that Jesus Is God When Jesus cast
him out he showed us that who he was
then we move to our next lesson which
dealt with healing on the Sabbath
another miracle was done wasn't it
Miracles done that Jesus healed a man
with a withered hand but we remember the
reason why he did this cuz as he was
there teaching we going say Sunday
school there were those sitting there
and the writer says in the other gospels
that Jesus looked upon them with anger
because of the bitterness of their heart
they were there for one reason how can I
find something to bring forth an
accusation against him therefore Jesus
had the man stand forth in the middle of
all and then he ask the Pharisees this
question
what is better to do to heal or you
could say or to not heal so let me ask
you just one question other words he put
them on the spot and then he healed the
man but upon healing that man he was
showing them that he was God because the
Sabbath he said was not made uh man was
not made for the Sabbath he said Sabbath
was made for man and he said I Am Lord
of the Sabbath which showing that he was
in control he was in charge showing them
once again that he was God then we went
to this last last miracle of last week
Jesus mighty power and in that
particular lesson we know the key thing
people talk about is Peter doing what
walking on water and you'll hear preach
Peter walked on water once again it's
the Miracles that everybody ConEd upon
but if you look at that particular
chapter a whole lot of Miracles took
place and Jesus showing his power
started first with he's feeding over
5,000 every one time with two fish and
five loaves of bread we also see Jesus
showed his power in that you remember it
was Christ who healed people at that
particular time and then he s the
multitude away Miracles was done then
you'll find it was Jesus form a miracle
cuz he was the one who walked on the
water but we talk about the miracle of
Peter who walked on the water but keep
in mind Peter did not walk in that water
by his own power it was the power of
Christ that caused him to walk upon that
water what I always like is that Peter
sank right how was he
[Music]
saved by Jesus
question how did Jus save
him oh there by reaching down think
about it you're in the water lady you're
sinking Jesus still on the water he
reaches down while standing on water and
pull you up out the water that's a
miracle ending of itself but then
another miracle happened as the wind and
the waves were upon the ship you
remember it toally said to the Fourth
Watch of like 3:00 to 6 p.m. in the
morning Jesus says not in that gospel
but in the other not the gospel he says
peace be still
and the wind itself stopped and even
with that being said another miracle
that I would call CU remember they
remember they to all night in that storm
but the moment Jesus said peace be still
they said he looked and they was at the
shore all these Miracles had took place
and people talk about the Miracles but
it's not the Miracles what's most
important it's what by him doing the
Miracles what he showed us that he was
who God with all the Miracles taking
place and that same theme continues with
today's lesson which deals with healing
and
what healing and forgiveness you may
recall uh in a previous quarter that
might have been the Winter quarter
remember we had a lesson that talked
about it says God honoring families
remember that lesson it was God honoring
families and I had son to read it
backwards and it meant families honoring
who honoring God well this particular
quarterly theme kind of Falls in that
same format we say Jesus is what is God
you read it backwards God is you saying
the same thing doesn't it today's lesson
follows that same theme also today's
lesson is entitled
healing and what forgiveness but you
read it backwards what you get and
healing see how they go hand in hand
together for healing to take place there
has to be forgiveness when forgiveness
is put in place
it brings about this thing called
healing so the two really go hand in
hand together but one thing about
forgiveness we always look at forgiving
others and we're supposed to forgive
right I have found in my limited time
here now once again who has found this I
have found can speak for everybody that
one of the hardest things for people
sometime to
forgive is
themselves that's a hard thing that
falls under why so many people have so
many issues with uh we call it with
mental
illness forgiveness you know they have
let's say committed a wrong the person
now or people or whatever's involved has
forgiven them but Brenda they still hold
that guilt they just can't shake it
themselves that it keeps weighing them
down and pulling them down they Place
stress upon their life because they
cannot forgive themselves for what has
transpired even though others have
forgiven them but that's something they
have to come to the realization of they
have to get to that point I all say this
by your encouragement by let them know
you've been forgiven let's move forth
forget this thing move forward but
that's a hard thing to do now this leads
into H don't you throw me off this time
that deals with uh forgiveness if it's
hard to forgive
yourself how much harder to forgive
other
people some of us go I'm not forgiving
them for what they've done we we know it
we've been there all of us have been
there that forgiveness can be a hard
thing to do I would say two of the best
examples I have seen of forgiveness is
and we talked about this before was once
when um a woman's child was murdered and
they were in court the man was found
guilty they were about to S him but you
know in uh many states before cing takes
place the family can speak and the
mother gets up to speak and basically
the mother spoke very well and she
seemed to be very sincere about this she
forgave the man
she forgave him but she also wanted to
know that now sentencing is about to
take place and there are consequences
for your actions but she said she had
forgiven them so now that burden was off
for her always you know holding this
upon of this man killed my child and so
Justice had been put in place but she
forgave him but now she wanted to know
that he to understand this he has now
for rest of life live the consequence
that's before him but as far as she goes
I moved on I'm not allow it to bring me
down because I know my child is at now
and she moved on from that that my
people is forgiveness can all us do that
well I can give you one that I know of
we had
uh there was an issue let say somebody
committed a transgression
okay you could say there was consequence
of those actions right upon this person
time goes by those involved said guess
what it's time to move on forgiveness
had to be put in place forgiveness guess
what was put in place and guess what the
people moved on but then there came a
day where one person want to talk about
this thing and they bought it
up once again digging in that old bones
at the ground you could say and one of
the person said these words said let's
stop right now so don't you remember we
put forgiveness in place about that I
moved on I don't want to hear nothing
about it
and that was that that's what you call
forgiveness now of course we have people
say these words you forgive but but you
don't
forget oh yes you can forget you can
almost to the point forget it that you
don't think about it and what I mean by
that certain things we remember certain
things we
don't everybody can remember a great
event that happened in their
life but if I ask you what the pastor
preached about last week we go we draw a
blank something we forget and never come
again sometime we have that selective
memory and what we remember and what we
do not remember but in this case you
find the person say now it's time to
move on there are certain things you
have to put aside but often time when
the individual comes forth uh I look at
it this way in most cases they when they
said I forgive but I won't forget that's
a person that haven't forgiven yet
because they always still holding that
thing sure you can remember it but you
don't bring it up you don't talk about
it you don't dwell upon it when it comes
to your mind you try to just push it out
and move forward because as a human it's
going to be in your memory but it comes
points where you have to grow the point
say it's time to move forward this is
one of the concepts that Jesus
constantly tried to put upon his people
that comes a point where you have to
forgive and move on even God's word says
your sins and iniquities I will remember
no more and cast them to into the sea of
forgetfulness other words that we never
talk about again even God said those
very things and we all have some things
that we have done that we want to
forgive
and we want all to forget it too but
unfortunately guess what somebody going
to bring it back up sooner or later
that's just the world that we live in
but that can also be a living testimony
also said that's what I did back then oh
but look what the Lord has brought me
now and this lesson continues with that
concept today we're dealing with healing
and forgiveness we're coming out of the
Gospel of Mark the second chapter and of
course on many occasions when you come
out of Matthew Mark or Luke you'll find
that you look at those other Gospels
they'll tell a similar story and they
will add things that the other one maybe
not have had but if you recall from last
week lesson um we close with
Jesus had now put forth healing am I
remember that he came back on the other
side of the sea he had bought healing in
the place and some things took place and
I I had asked a question see if y'all
remember I said the question was this I
said when Jesus got up in the
morning what typically how his day would
[Music]
start so people all around him the
moment his day started he was busy from
one point to the next remember last
lesson deal about Jesus taking what we
call a sabatical a little break a little
me time private time went on the
mountain to pray because you look look
at before that the people always was
about him in front of he was always
teaching and doing different things that
it came a point where it's time now for
me to be by myself to talk to my father
but his Day always was busy so the
leading to this I'm going to show you
how his Day always was like this in last
week lesson something I didn't bring up
but in Matthew I'm look at Matthew 1414
if you want to follow along in your
Bibles it's going to be very quick but
it kind of sets the backdrop of what
Jesus always was dealing with each and
every day which wasn't a burden for him
it was something he enjoyed but as being
God but yet fully man there comes a time
when he needed some time himself but in
Matthew um the 14th
chapter it starts off by saying these
words in verse 13 when Jesus heard of
hid he departed then by ship into a
desert plate AP part and when the people
had heard thereof they follow him on
foot out of what the
cities this is when John the Baptist now
was buried John has decreased Christ
must do what increase Christ Ministry
now starts his hour now is at hand where
he has to do many miracles and show you
that he was God and at this point you
find wherever he went the people even
followed him it says out of the Cities
it says in verse 14 and Jesus went forth
and saw a small multitude of
people oh once again I got that bad
translation let know you guys looking at
your Bible I'm glad to see that he said
it was a great multitude now multitude
means a lot of people anyway right but
when it says great that adjective now
takes it to a whole new level he said
there was a great multitude and he was
moved with compassion toward them and he
healed what their sick so you have a
great multitude of people here Jesus has
compassion upon that he now heals their
sick and they follow him he says
everywhere that he goes but as he does
these things and we know last week
lesson of how he went along and came
toward the end when Jesus now had came
back over go down toward the bottom of
that chapter it says now in verse 34 and
when they were gone over they came into
the land of jinat and when the men of
that place had knowledge of him other
words when they known Jesus was there
they sent out into parts of that
country oh here we go there you go I got
to change my translation people they
sent to All That country round about and
bought unto him all that were diseased
and besought him that he might only
touch the H of His Garment and as many
as touch were made what perfectly whole
so you can see there from morning to
even tonight people always were there
Jesus constantly stayed busy and in
today's last week in Mark 2 but before
you get to mark 2 guess what you got to
be in Mark 1 in Mark 1 I'm going start
the 32nd verse and just hit a couple
quick verses here uh I'm not going to
deal with how we get to this point but
just follow along with this verse it
says and at evening when the sun did set
they brought unto him all that were
diseased and them that were possessed
with what
Devils when you get into that we Skip by
the morning stuff now it's talking about
now in the evening they're still
bringing people and Jesus still taking
care of them it says and those devil in
verse 33 says and all the city was
gathered together at the
door all the city you see how Jesus Fame
now has spread John the Baptist is now
buried John the Baptist now gone Jesus
is now rising up that his Fame is now
you could say exploding through all the
countryside we read earlier that all in
the city what came out great multitudes
here you'll find there nobody even room
at the door itself and he said he healed
them that were sick of diber diseases
and cast out many demons and suffered
not the Devils to speak because they
knew him well if you go along a little
further than this there's a man that was
a
leper okay he had leprosy Jesus heals
him and Jesus tells him these words
after he heals him it says in verse 43
and he straightway charged him and forth
with sent him away to go and see the
priest and all and he said to see thou
say nothing this Jesus said to any man
but go thy way so what did Jesus say to
this
man don't you tell nobody anything about
this you just go he said he said don't
tell nobody anything but go thy way
following the orders of purification
says these words show thyself to the
priest and offer for thy cleansing those
things which Moses commanded for a
testimony unto them Jesus tell by
anything but guess what happens but it
says he went out and began to is much
and to blaze abroad the
matter times have changed haven't they
Jesus told him don't say a word and this
man told everybody today we said tell
everybody about Jesus everybody be quiet
you know and also upon that this man a
leper they know he a
leper Daniel cleans you don't have to
say a word cuz you you're now consider
to be a living testimony plus also you
know there's many FS why sometimes Jesus
said tell and sometime you said don't
tell but we don't have time to go into
all these things at this point Jesus
said don't tell anybody anything because
it'll cause an issue I'm not g to say a
problem but it'll cause a concern here
and look what happens it says here and
he went out and began to publish it much
and to bra braze abroad the matter in so
much that Jesus could no more openly ENT
into that
City you follow him what he's saying
here he's don't tell about anything CU
When he told him guess
what now so many people I I I can't do
nothing here you know you caused too
much to go on that he has to move away
he says that once again in so much that
Jesus could no more openly enter into
that City but were without in a desert
place and they came to him from a few
quarters every quarter so guess what the
city was so packed that Jesus said oh
you cause problem now now have to go out
into the open field into the deserts and
guess what everybody came from every
quarter so sometimes Jesus like just
keep it quiet let's just take care of
this matter that's here at hand but all
that led into guess what where we at now
Jesus just had to deal with people
constantly again and again and again to
that point and now Jesus has to leave
that area of Galilee and go somewhere
else and where did he go and again he
ented into Capernaum after some days
what he says he went into this place
called Capernaum he's not that far from
where he was at took him a few days go
from this a of Galilee to that of
Capernaum
M it makes you wonder it makes you
wonder and the the contrast I draw
between them and Christ is that these
individuals was you I don't think you
hit upon the part about how they
sometime heal but I always say why is it
that they only going to preach God's
word in these big venues stadiums and so
on you see at Brown R you're not can see
him in Nazarene they only go to the
giant places whereas with Christ
everywhere he went he preached be it hey
I can't preach this city guess where I'm
going out to this field in the desert I
can't preach here where I'm going do I'm
going go into this little Mount and
stand where people can see me so many
people on the shore I can't preach to
him he would get in a boat and said
Float me under the water a little ways
let me talk to the people there and then
as he would walk by the roadways guess
what he would teach and preach the whole
time there you remember even after his
resurrection when he met the two
disciples in the roads to emus remember
they said did not a hot burn within us
while he walk with us and talk with us
by the way open to us thus sayith the
scripture other words Jesus took every
opportunity he had to reach the people
whereas many today is I'll reach him but
you have to come to this particular
place and that's the only place that you
can come to it's like one time I had a
person talking about churches in the
talking about church
Hopper know what a church Hopper
is well in this case this person really
this how you educate folks they want a
church Hopper okay okay what it was
is I said a church Hopper typically
soone to go from church to church to
church to church to church to church
they may be a member of a church but
they always had a different church
church church you call that church
hopping which may be nothing wrong with
that because you're still serving God
but you should be connected with some
body of Believers I said now when you
have somebody who's at a church where
this person was but they didn't want to
go to this church because they said if I
go there I'm Church hopping I said no
that's called
fellowship and the problem with that is
if you believe that if you know Church
you're going church hopping and that's
not Fellowship what you're saying
literally is this you're not saying it
publicly but you're saying God only
comes to your church because you said if
I go there that's that's bad that's
Church hopping I can only go to my
church well God goes to every Church
he's at every church but what I'm
getting at by saying that statement is
this is what Jesus did he taught every
moment that was possible to reach the
people this is why he's such a large
following you find that people wasn't
waiting at the synagogue they weren't
waiting at the temple for him wherever
he was that's where he met them and
that's where he met them but as we see
here it says again he entered to
capernum makes a big difference here
Jesus had reached a situation where
guess what he has to leave this place
now and go back to I call it
headquarters because most of Jesus
ministry took place in this place known
at Capernaum and after a few days he
arrived there and it said it was noise
that he was in the house that's a pretty
I guess simple explanation what do it
mean but he was noise that he was in the
house
H uh I wouldn't say it was praising him
but what do you mean by when they say it
was noise that he was in the
house basically it was announced word
went out guess who's in town they noised
it Jesus is in town so no matter where
he went he couldn't get away from the
crowd but he wasn't trying to get away
from the crowd he was trying to get
situation where more he can reach the
people in the capacity in which he was
placed in at this point we don't have
any background information but you know
Jesus always said this foxes have holes
birds have nests but the son of man has
nowhere to lay his head he when he sent
the disciples out he said you to have to
rely on the generosity of others because
obviously now he's in somebody's house
that he's been invited to and basically
he's having you could say somewhat
church now in this particular house it
said it was noise that he was in the
house it say and straight way many were
gathered together in so much that there
was no room to receive them so not so
much as about to do
door so where it was at was a packed
house wasn't it it was standing room
only why we have to ask this question
like
why there you go dick Jones said that he
taught with power and authority they
said they was astonished and amazed the
way which you brought the word that
basically brought everyone out now keep
in mind I want everybody out there to
hear what they what what you want to
hear they had different reasons but
majority they wanted to hear what Jesus
had to say CU this man broke the word
down to him to the point that everywhere
he went it was what kind of a house it
was a packed
house oh how times have
changed we just talk about mega churches
Haven we well let's get off the mega
churches let's go a little
smaller what we at
today we in church but we a brown girl
right thank you De
Anthony what shouldn't this be
packed in Jesus day hearing the word of
Jesus everybody came out it should be
packed house it should be what standing
room
only let me get a little trivial
question here let's say this Sanctuary
right should be packed shouldn't it we
have Sunday school not only just Sunday
school it's a worship service Sunday
School part of worship we're worshiping
God by coming out and collecting his
word how many people you think can fit
in the
sanctuary I heard numbers all over place
over the years just just think about it
let's say comfortable okay I'm not
talking about people sitting in Millie's
lap and all this kind of stuff you know
we talking about sitting in the pews how
many people they can fit in the
sanctuary I hear 200 150
[Music]
170 250 in the sanctuary
here I ain't talking nobody's size today
well let me give you an idea you talking
about pack packing the house this s
typically can hold com about 140 people
you just do the math we got 35 pews
cting these two pews if you look you to
put comp of four people on a Pew you can
put five maybe six if you want to sit
all like this but if you put four people
in in in these pews it's 40 people can
sit right here our chir stand has 24
seats up there see like 164 we got five
in the pole pit so roughly about as di
Jones said about 170 is what you can put
in here how many you think we got in
here
today you can pull your shoes off and
start counting if you
like not manying nowhere near that
number if we were to take all you guys
there and put you in these pews you may
line up to R about here that's
it but everybody says they're
God-fearing folks
that's like Faith you know faith is not
action but it's seen by your action you
follow me it's seen by it many people
profess Christ but when it comes to this
great day as BR and I had a conversation
this morning about the Sabbath day a day
of rest a day of worship where you take
a rest from the TOs of your labor you
would think God's house would be
packed what would Jesus say today often
time we hear doing Martin Luther King
birthday they said what would Martin
Luther King say today when you look at
the
state African-Americans and blacks and
so on what would Jesus do right now if
he was standing right before you and
looking at his
body make sure Wonder but here you find
during his time guess what it was a
packed house it say and straightway many
were gathered together in so much that
there was no room to receive them not uh
no not so much as about the door and he
preached the word unto
them this is why they came or this is
why they should have came now keep in
mind the Miracles showed you who he was
but Jesus wasn't there about the
Miracles Jesus always talk about doing
one thing what
preaching preaching the word because man
was so concentrated so much on healing
this
body but what's beyond this body the
spirit that's the most important thing
that is to save your soul because you
look at let's say everybody lives 110
years old that's a long time isn't it
well there ain't nothing compared to
Eternity that's nothing compared to it
so put so much time energy into these
bodies but how much more for our souls
you know folks say I'm going to the gym
I'm G do this I'm G to do that and do
all these things but you going to church
to exercise your spiritual Soul no I'm
not going to church today but I'm
worried about this physical thing but
Jesus want to know this thing of healing
forgiveness goes far beyond the physical
because this why he says and they came
unto him bringing one sick of the py
which was born a fo what we move to now
is that Jesus in the house is packed
nobody can get in it's standing room
only and as they come you'll find that
there's also a group that comes with a
man that's sick of the py basically he
had some sort of paralysis where he
couldn't walk move or whatever it may be
but he couldn't function as they could
that he needed assist he needed help
during this time they didn't have
electric wheelchairs and scooters and
things like that you had to rely on the
generosity of who of others you want to
go anywhere guess what somebody got to
help you out I heard a preacher preach
one time powerfully about these four
people he said they was good friends
they said we took our friend down to see
this man Jesus because they had to carry
you the Bible sometimes said pick up
that bed or someone say pick up that
cart let me tell you was it was a stre
it was a stretcher that's what it was
they would grab you two in the front two
in the back and they would car you
everywhere that you needed to go this
was friends doing this you know today's
world some of us need a ride we going
time stop my car fo with you you know
but think what they're doing they're
carrying this man to see Jesus and
they're carrying there for what
reason to be healed but for them to be
healed they have to have what faith so
shows these people had faith that I'm
going down here to be healed of this
individual but as it go forth it said
when they verse four says and when they
could not come n unto him for the Press
they uncovered the roof where he was and
when they had broken it up they let down
the the bed wearing the sick of the
poles he lay the other of gospel
described the roof as being clay towels
and they moved their towels and so on
from there but what we want to
concentrate upon is how they got there
because of the press because of the
crowd we can't get in it's one thing to
try to squeeze through people yourself
to get in it's quite another they have a
man on the stretcher you're trying to
get in that they couldn't get
there which let us know they wanted to
get to
who they had an obstacle place before
them right did he allow the obstacle to
stop them no no sometimes you have to
press forward you know you might want to
get to Christ but there things going to
be in your way so-called friends going
to be in your way so-called Lifestyles
be in your way but those things you have
to move out of your way or move random
to get to where it is you need to be I
always like it we talk about
Resurrection Sunday remember when the
ladies were going to the tomb and as
they was nearing the tomb they were
talking about going to the tomb and then
they brought up this one big thing they
say you know there's a stone in front of
that
tomb a one ton two 2,000 lb Stone in
front of their tomb but guess what they
kept on walking they didn't stop they
didn't turn around they said well I
guess we're going to deal with that when
we get to it other words they wanted to
get to Christ but they did not let what
the obstacles lie before them hinder
their progress they still press forward
these men have got there now oh it's a
packed house I can't even get inside
this building oh they got to be a away
and what do they do some kind of a way
they get the man up on the roof and they
break through the roof can you imagine
remember how many people was at this
house let just say the church how many
people was there packed that you
couldn't even come through the
door just imagine now this is going on
here let's say at this house it's packed
right can't get in all a sudden D Jones
you start to see towel fall at the
ceiling you know see see we don't get
all that setting we have to visualize
what was going on here A packed house as
Christ is preaching remember he's famous
everybody want to hear him and out of
nowhere you're like what the
world somebody's coming through the roof
and then guess what here's this man
being lowered down prbly by ropes raped
before Christ it said when they had
broken down where and the sick of verse
four again and when they could not come
down to him for the Press they uncovered
the roof where he was and when they had
broken it up they let down the man when
in the sick of the PO lay and when Jesus
saw their faith see what he says he saw
their faith he saw their faith he said
unto the sick of the py son thy sins be
forgiven thee so you TI the other son
out the gos you a little bit more
information what's going on here you
think about this what would we say today
a service like this was going on and
somebody come through the
roof what would our concentration be we
said
run all the laws don't clear the door M
coming
through you know what we say about
something like
[Music]
that I mean think about I guess let me
get a little little h of
myself this a packed house
man is preaching here's a man we got to
remember he's sick right he's had some
point of paralysis the man are Lo him
there down through right here while I
packed house going what we say we would
say you don't get this Foods out of here
you don't drag them about what y'all
think y'all doing but see Jesus looked
beyond that he could see that guess what
that was a reason that these men at no
cost was going to leave here today
without their friend being healed so
they went to Great cost I'm not talking
about put the the man on the PO I'm
looking at his friends too his friends
said oh no we we have we have to do
something about this they said we going
through the roof people can say what
they want to say but we could do what we
can for you upon this day because all
those folks in there or they G get them
walk out of here but you're not walking
out we have to do something here to help
you out so they bring him down through
this and Jesus sees their face oh these
some powerful Brothers
here and once again Faith you find is
not action but it's seen by your action
because as Jesus gets to there we we
going to speed up to get to some moment
you know anybody can say they have
faith but you don't see it until you see
some action placed behind it and here
Jesus sees what was going on he sees
that these brothers had dropped this man
down and said when Jesus saw their faith
which means they believed in him they
belied that he could bring forth healing
now did they know he was a Christ at
this point probably not CU remember
Jesus had just came on the scene but
everybody had enough knowledge and
understanding didn't know as Nicodemus
even said no man can do these Miracles
unless what unless God be with him so
they had faith and beleving that let's
say God could heal but here's a tricky
part about this whole situation they
have faith that God could heal right
what's our
theme for the quarter no that's title
lesson what's our theme for the
quarter Jesus Is God so they looking as
God can heal us right but Jesus Is God
like I was asked a question it says that
you only save by your belief in
who there we go that what we hear you
know in our present day Christianity
we're going to be saved by believing in
who believing in Jesus Christ right no
man come to the father but by me you
know you have to believe in Christ to
get to God the question was well what
about people before
Christ what about Abraham what about
Isaac and all those folks and Moses and
I mean you go through the whole list all
the people before Christ right they said
well how does it say you only can can be
saved by believing in in
Christ
Bingo they had God to believe in Jesus
is God in the order of Trinity God is
Jesus so a lot of believe in that they
were fine but the New Testament that was
a new testimony in his blood the Old
Testament was cast you know that's
another whole story all together there
but here you'll find that by their faith
and belief that God can heal these men
went forth and Jesus could see this and
Jesus said these words when Jesus saw
that Faith he said unto the sick of the
py son thy sins be what be forgiven
thee now what we said it that like my
sins look I can't walk the first thing I
need to do is make me walk Jesus was
showing the most important thing is your
salvation your spiritual Soul when Jesus
saw that you said thy sins be forgiven
thee other words only Jesus now can
forgive sins and he gives these words it
says but there we
go there's that butt go like I said
every
cookout every cook up Lise you got a
food there don't you somebody GNA act up
you have the reception somebody act the
fol spoil a party for everybody here's a
good thing going on the house is packed
Jesus is there they get this uh I call
it right now excitement going on what in
the world do man and come down through
the roof and Jesus said thy sins be
forgiven thee everybody like w look at
this but things going to change a little
bit here there were certain of the
scribes sitting
there mind you when everywhere Jesus
went keep mind his Fame was jumping up
and who was the shall we say the key
religious folks of that
time the key religious people of that
time you know scribes Pharisees they
were Sadducees you know scribes called
lawyers too the same folks they were the
religious I call sometime Authority that
everybody looked up to them for what it
was they brought forth what they taught
especially especially the scribes they
were called The Lawyers of of the word
they were there just keep in mind a new
man is coming to scene preaching
something that's said with power and
authority not as who as the scribes so
they like wait a minute who is this man
we got to check him out but they were
there for their own reasons here but it
says certain the scribes and keep in
mind it says certain of the scribes what
is that talk about as a whole to a
certain extent you say certain of them
it's talking about everybody right see
why I keep that in check because
sometime we generalize and put everybody
in the same category just because many
or most of them were against Christ
doesn't mean all of them are there but
they say we had a certain group over
here that were there and it says
here uh certain of the scribes were
sitting there and reasoning in their
hearts other words they're rationalizing
they were thinking this thing out you
know it wasn't just a spirit of moment
thing they were saying they're thinking
about this to themselves
okay they read but there was certain of
the scribes sitting there reasoning in
the heart why does this man thus speak
blasphemy who can forgive sins but God
Alone Now they didn't say
anything but they were thinking it but
the thing about this thing is Jesus know
what you're thinking remember earlier
when Jesus was teaching the Sunday
School CL we taught about last week it
said that Jesus looked upon them with
anger because of the bitterness of their
hearts other words he know what they
thinking what they were saying do people
always have to talk before you know
what's on their
mind sometime you say a word but we
already know what you're talking about
and you find out often times you're
situation like this packed house right
you got your own
thoughts but you don't have your own
mouth because you won't say a word but
you get outside oh you got all the mouth
in the world all the mouth now this is
just scripture I'm giving you okay this
just scripture here it says here they
reasoning in their hearts Jesus know way
is that
thinking but they won't say it out loud
but they want to cause trouble for Jesus
down the road because remember after he
heal that man that withed hand remember
last week what they say they wanted to
do how can we kill this man I think it
was Matthew say how can we destroy this
man other words we got to get rid of him
he has to go but these are the ones that
don't say a word but they got their own
thoughts going on but it said but why
does this man speak of L who can forgive
sins but God alone and truly in their
teach in as we know only God truly can
forgive sins but the order of our theme
Jesus is who he has that Authority the
father has given him yet all authority
has been placed upon him now also keep
in mind too they look this man as a
sinner in their culture is that only God
can forgive it and also too only God can
heal you because they looked at it this
way and we time to go into it deep
enough is that anytime you were going
through some Calamity or some sickness
in your life had come upon you we don't
know why because you did something wrong
you committed a sin so God was now
punishing you this is why Jesus going to
show in a minute here about how also can
heal because if God has put this thing
upon you who can take it off you but
we'll get to that as we go along it says
and immediately when Jesus perceived in
his what spirit that they so reason
within themselves he said unto them why
reason you do things in your
hearts remember the other week when
Jesus had that man man with the withered
hand come forth he say stand in the
midst it says as he stood in the midst
of all the people then he turned to the
Pharisees and says let me ask you one
thing that's called calling somebody out
right that's what it is it's simple as
that it's calling them out here Jesus
does the same exact thing it says and
immediately other words he didn't
procrastinate with it there was a
problem there was an issue it needs to
be addressed it need to be talked about
here you have a crowd you won't say what
you want to say but I know it is you're
thinking it says immediately when Jesus
proceeded spirit that they so reason
within themselves he said to them why
reason you the things in your
hearts other words he put forth that
question not to the crowd to those
scribes that were there other words why
are you thinking this way so now it's
what an opportunity to educate not only
them but everybody in the room because
by his Miracle he's doing but one thing
in the end showing you what showing you
showing he's God the whole purpose of
this theme is Jesus showing you that
Jesus is God and it says verse 9 whether
is easier other words what is easier to
say to the sick of the py thy sins be
forgiven then or to say arise and take
up thy bed and
walk valid question isn't it what's
easier to tell this person here guess
what I forgive you your
sins which he said to them anybody can
say that really you can say it but all
your sins forgiven you don't know cuz
anybody can say it he said
or rise up and walk do this goes back to
their thinking that only God can heal
also because if you're in the situation
of that of you of paralysis oh you done
something wrong and sin is upon you now
if I healed you that means I forgive you
of your sins and lifted you up now the
people this time might not understand
that but the scribes did you know why
they were educated they knew the laws
and what Jesus was going at here but
they couldn't speak a word because he
knew he had checkm upon them he says
what it easier to say to the sick of the
py thy sins be forgiven in thee or to
say arise and take up thy bed and walk
but that you may know that the son of
man have power on Earth to forgive sins
see Jesus didn't give a chance even
answer a question because they couldn't
answer a question so Jesus said just so
you know this thing that the son of man
have power on Earth to forgive sins he
said to the one sick of the py I say
unto thee arise and take up thy bed and
go thy way into thine house
notice how Jesus I love when when he
does these type of healings he doesn't
take land the mud and put on your eyes
and say a few words he doesn't even
really pick the person up as he's
talking to them he said get
up that's what he says to the man he
says to him get up he said thy sins be
forgiven I send thee arise take up thy
bed and go into thy house that was all
he said and then it says sometime later
he arose oh once again this bad
translation I got here when he spoke it
says
immediately they had to send him to no
shelter on for no therapy he had to do
any exercises or take any pills Jesus
said get
up remember who bought the bed
there his friends bought it did he tell
his friends take the bed up he told that
man get up you take your bed and go on
back home plain and simple that's what
he says me it's scripture right before
he said immediately he arose took up the
bed and went forth before them all in so
much that they were all amazed and
glorify
God see the purpose in the
miracle now sure it's great this man is
healed but the bigger thing is the man
is healed they turn from him and they
turn to God and they gave God the glory
for what was just done immediately
before them all saying we have never s
on this fashion what that is in our
present day is this I ain't never seen
nothing like this they say I went to
church today and you w believe what
happened we was in there having a good
time listen to the word Tommy Billy Bob
and Frank them fools came through the
roof of the church and they bought in
Frank you remember he can't walk well
guess what this man Jesus said get up
take your bed and go on back home and he
got up and went on back home keep in
mind the man didn't say a thing did he
he didn't have to give testimony because
now this man who was paralyzed who could
not walk now took up his bed and he was
a walking he was a living testimony for
everyone else this is why many times
Jesus said don't tell nobody nothing
they going to see it for themselves I to
go back to to when he was B before caias
and they says what is it that thou spoke
to these people and Jesus said what I
say I'm paraphrasing Jesus what has I
said unto them ask all these people hear
what I said because he just showed them
and what they said he did they smacked
him in his face for it he said these are
my Witnesses you ask me a valid
question this is the life that he led so
kind of remember those thing when when
that subject matter comes up again
the man didn't say a word he was a
living testimony cuz we put a couple
couple people there
right you get the point now we have seen
things happen two people see it right
that afternoon everybody know about it
right here's a little different
everybody's here now nobody has to
spread the word because guess what
everybody saw it for themselves Jesus
only performed the Miracles for one
purpose to show you this he said I do
this as a sign unto you that you may yet
know but the bad part of this whole
thing de with these scribes and
Pharisees they would see this right
before their very eyes see it like
everybody else would see it and know
they would say how can we kill his man
so he has to go if I had time I could go
through scripture after scripture where
show we say how must we or how can we
destroy this man how can we kill him it
even said from this day forth they put
plans and action that they may destroy
him always even though everyone else saw
the Miracles right before them but I
going tell you this and we'll close this
note the world was just as blind all
those people hauling Jesus Jesus Jesus
oh boy from a one day to the ncks
everybody was saying crucifying just
that quick so they're in the same
situation the Pharisees and the scribes
themselves were but yet Jesus still
carried forth his mission to show you
but one thing as the scripture says that
Jesus is God and deal the thing we call
the Trinity now that end the lesson for
today now next week lesson just show you
something here next week lesson is
actually the sun greater than Angels
come in a book of
Hebrews read that and study it now what
did I just say to do what with that
lesson read it and studying then
following that that's another lesson
okay that lesson is coming out of
Revelation the lamb worthy of worship
please read that one and guess what
study it because next week we're not
having Sunday school typically we would
have Sunday school on Mother's Day
because many times we have breakfast at
8 but I've always well a couple years
earlier than that I noticed that we had
finished breakfast before 9: and people
were standing around for another hour
waiting for service to start so we would
always have Sunday school but it would
put some in a bind some in a rush so
what we're going to do next week is
we're not going to have Sunday school
next week oh but guess what the
following week we're doing two lessons
I'm gonna have a whole lot of questions
and if you can't answer those questions
oh that could be a sad thing to watch
when you watch the preview online I'm
asking questions and pin drop but we
have two lessons but the lessons are
very important because the reason where
is we deal still dealing with Jesus Is
God right and guess what we're finishing
things up we're now moving into the last
and final unit of the lesson it's only
three lessons it's only three and we're
missing one so it's very important to
get those things because the writer
wants to shall we say bring everything
to fruition close everything out by
showing us how Jesus Is God so read your
lessons for next week once again we will
not have Sunday school next week but the
following week we're going to try to do
a double up uh I have a lot of questions
and reviews from that particular session
I might bring up a lot of things from
the previous lesson so it might it may
we say the spirit leads us it may only
be folks a review of the entire quarter
I shouldn't have said it some people
might be scared to come back Sunday
school because I remember I used to do
it online quiz night quiz night I'm like
where is everybody did wrong code no
test packed house but just keep that in
mind no Sunday school next week and with
that being said let us stand to our feet
for a closing word of prayer and digging
hole if you will close us out and bring
us into the worship service
