Outlines
🏠 Introducing Slick Barrier: The Pest-Proof Home
Tony and Aaron from Gilbert Arizona present 'Slick Barrier', a pesticide-free physical barrier designed to keep pests like spiders, cockroaches, scorpions, bed bugs, ants, and rodents out of homes. The product is applied around the base of a house, creating a slick surface that crawling pests cannot climb. They demonstrate its effectiveness using models of houses with and without the product, showing pests like scorpions and a rodent named Kevin unable to climb the protected surfaces. The founders seek $500,000 for 10% equity in their business and highlight third-party testing from universities like Texas A&M and New Mexico State University that supports the product's efficacy. They also discuss their sales history, starting with service-based income in 2020, moving to product sales in 2021, and focusing on consumer sales in 2022. The product is easy to apply, similar to paint, and they envision a future where it's widely used by consumers to prevent pest infestations.
💼 Financials and Valuation Discussion for Slick Barrier
The discussion shifts to the financials and valuation of Slick Barrier. In 2020, the company had $180,000 in service revenue, with no product sales. In 2021, total revenue was $650,000, with $450,000 from services and $200,000 from product sales to pest control companies. The founders then decided to focus on product sales in 2022, achieving $50,000 in the last month. They aim to expand to the consumer market but will continue to target pest control companies. The average price to treat a house is $150, while pest control companies charge about $1,400 for the service. The sharks express concerns about the company's valuation and the feasibility of their business model, with some ultimately deciding to pass on investing due to the perceived challenges in scaling the business and the lack of innovation in the pest control industry.
🦇 Bat B&B: Eco-Friendly Pest Control
Chris and Harrison pitch 'Bat B&B', a line of designer bat houses aimed at reducing backyard pest populations using bats, a natural pest control method. They explain that bats consume thousands of insects per hour, making them highly effective against mosquitoes and other pests. The bat houses are designed to mimic the bats' natural habitat, with features like interior groove chambers and landing pads. The founders express their concern for the growing threat of diseases carried by insects, such as Zika, and position their product as a safer, more environmentally friendly alternative to pesticides. They seek $100,000 for 16% equity and share their revenue to date, which is $135,000, with projections for the current year around $145,000. The sharks have various reactions, with some expressing skepticism about the market size and the public's perception of bats, while others see potential in the concept.
🔊 Darren Johnson's Implantable Bluetooth Technology
Darren Johnson introduces an implantable Bluetooth technology that is surgically placed underneath the ear to keep Bluetooth devices securely in place. He explains that the device contains a battery, Bluetooth electronics, a microphone, a speaker, and an AC charging port. The goal is to prevent Bluetooth devices from falling out due to natural movements or perspiration. The sharks react with a mix of intrigue and concern, questioning the practicality and safety of implanting technology into the human body. Darren's pitch is met with skepticism, and the sharks ultimately decide not to invest, citing the invasive nature of the product and the challenges associated with medical implants and Market acceptance.

next up is a product designed to prevent
home
[Music]
Intruders hi sharks I'm Tony and this is
Aaron and we're from Gilbert Arizona
sharks worldwide there are Intruders
breaking into our home right now now we
are talking about spiders cockroaches
scorpions bed bugs ants and even rodents
ooh but these nasty Creepy Crawlers do
not stand a chance with our product
we're here today to introduce slick
barrier slick barrier is a pesticide
free physical barrier goes around the
base of your home you just apply it a
few inches on your house or on anything
you do not want creepy crawly pest to
all on no poisons at all when you apply
a slick barrier to the base of your home
it drives hard smooth and Slick it's a
physical barrier system that stops
crawling pests from climbing up like if
you look at our displays over here
sharks the red house doesn't have any
protection at all and you can see
there's scorpions that have already
started to move
in the blue house has our protection on
it and it's protected by the Slick
barrier we even have a rodent right here
that has a post and that rodent can't
climb that post because it's also
protected with slick barrier sharks our
patented technology is the future of
pest control so sharks we are asking for
$500,000 for 10% of our business but
wait before you give us an offer we
think it's only fair to have you sharks
come up and test our products for
yourselves Kevin you're a rodent Kevin
I'm looking at you man all right Kevin
we have a surprise for you so we decided
that we needed to have some pests to
test our product right and we heard you
had a special relationship with a
particular type of pest and what we're
talking about
is
cockroaches say it Kevin say it it's a
family reunion oh no Kevin it's been
years since I spoke roach these guys
heard you were talking about him and
they wanted to meet you firsthand but
but Mr Wonderful those bricks are
protected with our slick barer coating
feel free to step right up and show them
how it works okay you want me to step on
them we do we do even though he has a
special relationship with them they're
not getting it I am impressed they're
not going up the side of the plastic
come on off Kevin thank you so much for
doing that so we want to one up you guys
and take this to the next level with
scorpions oh my God these are Arizona
bark scorpion they're the most venomous
scorpions or one of the most venomous in
the world and these scorpions they
cannot climb the Slick barrier product
and so what we're going to do is we're
going to stand on these blocks and we're
going to pitch and we're not going to
get off these blocks until you guys give
us a deal okay when it comes to the
poisonous scorpions I think I've done my
thing already I'm out of here oh my God
thank you Mr Wonderful all right guys
let's do
this you guys have a couple of materials
in front of you a box what we wanted to
show you was all the different types of
materials that we could put this product
on Mark we also did some studies with uh
some universities so Texas A&M New
Mexico State University they've tested
it on bed bugs they tested it on roaches
they've tested it on scorpions I just
want to point something out they're not
climbing up the brick I get that but
they're also not climbing up the
plexiglass does that mean I should put
plexiglass around the base of my house
yeah so my house was infested with these
scorpions right here me and my wife
could not get them out so it was a
frustrating experience we tried going
through the regular Pest Control
channels and we battled these things for
years I ended up getting stung horrible
experience she's like I don't know we're
going to have to sell our house that we
just bought because we can't live like
this and notice just like Kevin said
they couldn't climb up smooth surfaces
if I could coat my foundation with a
product that made this same type of
surface then I could keep these things
out of my house and it worked it stopped
them but don't take typically come in
through pipes underneath or a hole in a
wall somewhere so every single crawling
pest starts from the ground up wait
quick question you're not your
background isn't pesticides or like no
I've been in I've been in sales and
corporate sales pretty much my whole
life but you know what guys I give you
credit I took a look at your third party
testing from New Mexico state and from
Texas A&M and the results were amazing
in neither case did the Scorpions climb
the walls so there was zero penetration
so it was really cool okay so tell us
about your sales in
2020 that was the first year we had
sales and we had $180,000 in sales was
that just for product or including your
service that was just service we were
not selling the product at that time so
that was for your service two guys to
cope my house how about 2021 so total
revenue for the entire year was about
650,000 in 21 in 21 Serv only servic
450,000 was service about 200,000 was
selling the product who were you selling
it to we were selling it to pest control
companies okay and then starting in 2022
we wanted to just solely focus on
selling the product so the product that
you guys have in front of you here is
our most recent product it's a
water-based product we sold about
$50,000 just in the last month do not
require a mask it's as easy to use as
paint right now our vision for the
future is to go consumer but we still
intend on pushing it into the pest
control side here here's the problem I'm
having 10% $500,000 if it's a $5 million
valuation you guys make no money
whatsoever you don't even have to tell
me that I know cuz I speak rat right all
right the rat said no D here when we
first started this company we we figured
out that it worked and then at that
point we decided to raise Capital but
why is
it so so we've we've raised Capital how
much have you raised at the end of 20 20
we raised about half a million dollar O
and the most recent one we raised
$700,000 at like a $3 million valuation
so what do you sell the product to pest
control company our average price is $70
so what does it take to do your house um
it takes roughly about two gallons two
to 2 and a half gallons so 150 bucks
yeah what do they charge the end user so
so the average charge is about $1,400 to
go out and do the service and do you get
a percentage of that at all no we just
sell the product directly the big
problem with Pest Control is there's no
innovation it's just spray spray spray
spray and guess what they're banning
these products the idea that you don't
take a percentage of that service
revenue is
insane you're going to have to sell so
much in order to have a real business to
justify your valuation I just don't see
how you guys can get there so for those
Reasons I'm out all thank you look for
the consumer brand what does it cost to
sell what does it cost to make that's
why we're here right right now to
actually have this product delivered in
our warehouse we're paying $30 for one
gallon what do you sell it for we sell
it for $100 huge mistake let me take a
stab at this I know the Cockroach
Community I'm very familiar with the
Scorpion Community but I got to tell you
something your valuation 500,000 for 10%
I can't decide if your cockroaches or
scorpions or both because this business
is not worth $5 million but I'm looking
at this as the beginning of the journey
you know not even started yet cuz you
want to go to Consumer you proved your
model out selling services I can't get
there on valuation I'm out sure Tony
eron um your product is great but I
don't think any house is a completely
solid vacuum like they're going to get
in so I can't get there I I just I can't
and the rats are just freaking me right
out I'm out well and and that's I'm out
guys
when you live in the Northeast when it
gets cold those pests and those Critters
they're coming into the house they're
going to find a way in there and when
I'm from in New York when I get locked
out of my house I'd call a rat to let me
in the house right they're not stopping
these things I'm sorry I'm
out listen first of all one thing people
really hate is pests right and anything
that can harm them or their family right
so scorpions rats cockroaches bed bugs
you
Kevin I think you are in desperate need
of a shark because this isn't really
your thing so I am going to take a flyer
on you wow but there's
[Music]
conditions four sharks are out Lori is
Tony and Aaron's last chance for a deal
for their pest control product slick
barrier I am going to take a flyer on
you okay but there's conditions okay
okay I'll give you the $500,000 I want
15% okay and I'm going to give it to you
$100,000 up front and the rest is alone
because I really see this as dicey but I
think that people would want to spray
their home with it and at least give it
a go even if it cuts down the amount
that gets in it's better to have one
scorpion than 500 what are the terms of
the note so the terms of the note uh 2
years whatever the standard rate is I
can easily figure out how this can be a
great consumer product I look at what
can I take with it and make happen right
so I'm no worry about that and then I
think I can just help you immensely with
the licensing cuz I've done it you know
you guys understand the offer right
100,000 steep it's it's steep in some
ways but you know we know exactly why we
need you we need help on the consumer
side we need help on the so now you know
right so what do you want to
do you want to talk to the Rats first
could could we
I so want to do this with you Lor by the
way you struck out with every other
shark there's only one offer she's only
taking 5% more than you're asking what
is there to think about there's not
let's do it let's do it all right let's
do it oh I can't believe I'm in this
like
business but we'll get rid of these
horrible things so much thank you thank
you I think it's really cool I mean if
it works it's really cool thank you guys
all right you so much thank you guys
thank you all
[Applause]
[Music]
yes next into the tank is a way to
attract an often misunderstood
[Music]
creature hey sharks my name is Chris
rfor and I'm Harrison broadhurst we're
from Lexington Kentucky we're seeking
$100,000 for 16% of our
company so we have a problem with our
winners getting shorter and warmer
insects like mosquitoes are coming out
earlier and in greater numbers bringing
zika and other deadly diseases in their
wake it seems like the only solutions
available on the marketplace are
expensive pesticides that burn and
irritate our skin while also endangering
local wildlife and all this while
there's been a perfect natural solution
that we never think of bats so most
people don't know that a common bat will
eat up to a th000 mosquito siiz insects
an hour making them one of Nature's
greatest forms of natural pest control
so how do we enlist these amazing
animals to support our cause introducing
bat B&B T that's right B&B as in a bed
and breakfast for bats now with our line
of designer bat houses you can
significantly reduce your backyard pest
population every bat Bean B is designed
with the animals unique lifestyle in
mind with interior Groove Chambers and
landing pads that allow the bat to
easily grip climb and hang the bat beam
be actually sounds like you Kevin the
bat beam be actually biomimics their
natural habitat which is the space
between the peeling bark on a dying tree
it also provides an ideal environment
for mother bats to keep their pups safe
from predators with a bat being being in
your property whether it's your backyard
your farm or your business you can
eliminate swarms of harmful pests while
also providing a much needed home for a
commonly misunderstood animal before we
dive into questions we know that there
are a lot of miscon receptions around
bats so we'd love for y all to meet
one at this point at this point I'd love
to invite our trained animal Handler
Melinda to join us on stage and
introduce us all to radar hi Melinda hi
where's the bat she's right here oh God
Melinda don't let it out let it out is
it outside you can't
be so this is radar it's a six-year-old
rescue she had a damaged Wing so that's
why she's in captivity um radar is a big
brown bat they live all over Los Angeles
and and all over North America they are
our Target customer they hunt at night
when we're sleeping hold on about this
hunting at night when I was a teenager I
lived in the city of
Cartage Transylvania oh God in Tunisia
and they don't wait till night they come
out of Dusk and they blanket the sky now
not every bat eats mosquitoes some of
them enjoy blood and they
actually they they actually go hun on
mammals so how do you know that when you
set up your bat BNB you're not getting
blood sucking bats so our Target markets
are in the United States Canada Europe
and Australia primarily in the USA right
now uh vampire bats they're two species
of them they live only in South and
Central America how are you guys bat
Specialists like so we're not bat
Specialists so we started this back in
2016 all the headlines were zika zika
zika and Harrison and I were like oh
gosh like we want to have kids but oh we
can't be near zika mosquitoes micro was
scary and we felt helpless so we looked
at the market and like we said it's all
pesticides and harmful pesticides so we
drew on a childhood experience I had
where I actually grew up building bad
houses with my father um and we you grew
up building bad houses with your father
how did that come how does that start my
dad's a big conservationist he's into
animals there you go how many bats could
live in there um so 80 to 100 bats can
fit 80 to Ian you see you see how little
radar is here and so they like to be
close yeah but Chris people don't like
bats like it freaks most people out how
do you sell this to people and educate
them so so you're absolutely right
Robert so ever since Bram Stoker wrote
Dracula like over 100 years ago bats
have just suffered from the big bad
scary looking it's as far back as Greek
mythology they were considered to live
in Hades was very involved also in Rome
it was if you didn't want to go to sleep
you cut the head off a bat and put it in
a bag by your left arm yeah this is it
goes further back yes I am one with the
bat yes I know they're your relatives no
no I just understand them so tell us
about your business so we launched via
crowdfunding about 11 months ago uh so
far our revenues to date have been
$135,000 and what are your projecting
sales will be for this year so sales for
this year we're looking at 145,000 this
year Chris how big is this market so
while we've been growing on the consumer
side where we see the high growth in
this market uh is in the public sector
so if you look at the public sector on
the county level there are enormous
budgets for mosquito and Pest Control
what do it cost you to make it yeah it
costs 8850 for us to make it it costs
$239 with shipping wow Harrison Chris I
see it as a hobby market it's relatively
small it's not for me I'm out okay
appreciate that how do you get um a city
county state whatever it may be how do
you get to them yeah so that that's part
of that's one tier of what we would do
with an investment we pursue
relationships and we would work with
people who have experience in so let's
just say that goes perfectly where do
your sales go so we've done a 5-year
forecast and year five will be a million
dollar year business honestly I just
don't see that being big enough right
for the amount of time and work that's
involved so for those Reasons I'm out
okay I have a lot of bats on my property
it hasn't really reduce as far as I know
uh much of the mosquito issue I still
feel like I have a mosquito problem or a
bug problem and I just don't think that
people understand the value of what
you're doing and I just think it's a
hard way to educate people so with that
I'm out
thank you and then there were
two um it's just not the product for me
I I can't even like I'm sitting here
going H every second cuz just the bat
thing for me I just I can't invest in it
I'm sorry I'm out it's okay I on the
other hand have a lot of passion for
bats because they're so misunderstood
over the ages here comes the blood
sucking offer there's no blood sucking
involved here this is a fruit bat offer
okay
here's the way I look at it I like it
it's a small Market it needs a
tremendous amount of promotion and
someone has to explain it and nobody
knows more about bats than I do so I'll
give you the 100K for 33 and
A3 that's the only deal I consider sorry
that that's a little too low for us um
if you're willing to do 25% we willing
to do it I have to feel that I've got a
seat at the table I think it's a lot of
hard work in a very small Market but I
can bring so much promotion
and I don't have a bat cave in my
portfolio so I'm thinking of adding it
now but it's got to be 33 and a 3% you
have a deal thank you Kevin thank you so
much for your offer by the way
[Music]
yes ask will you put on a Batman suit if
we if we
chose done it's a deal oh I didn't see
that I love it nice to meet you guys it
was a hell of a great presentation
more perfect for a bat house Kevin turn
into a bat thank you
everybody thank
you two years ago when we first started
this it was a little little hobby thing
that Harrison and I did in in our free
time and now we got Kevin on board with
all of his resources and finances and
and the investment like there's no place
we can't go like it's it's fantastic you
know in the Mayan culture way back when
bats started getting a bad rep so far
ago because people were scared of them
were you around during the May culture I
first became close with them in Tunisia
that's where it started is that when you
started sing upside down I first met the
bats I also met them in Attis Ababa in
Ethiopia at night they would cover the
skies I would say to my father what are
those dad and you'd say those are
bats those are our relatives and I
always thought one day I would be in the
bat
business next up is Darren Johnson who
hopes his Innovative new product will
send the Sharks into a
frenzy my name is Darren Johnson and I'm
here today to explain the ionic year
investment opportunity how much money
are you looking for I'm looking for a
million dollars for a 15% ownership
stake in the technology what we have
developed is a implantable Bluetooth
technology if you are one of the 40% of
the users of Bluetooth technology that
currently own it you know that just the
natural Rhythm walking many times and
perspiration the technology will fall
off your ear if you answer the call too
quickly many times the Bluetooth device
will become dislodged I'm sorry where
are you implanting this into a into
another device what are you implanting
this into it's actually going into your
ear in your ear how you're pushing it in
if I could direct your attention to the
first slide here is the surgery
locations this is just underneath the
ear load the surgery location this is
this is surgery you would be under
anesthesia
good you guys are so close-minded please
let him finish okay thank you thank you
at the base of the device is a battery
within its Center or Bluetooth
electronics and at its tip a microphone
a speaker and an AC charging port stop
right there there back to surgery 101
sir Darren we're going to we're going to
operate on people yes we are we're going
to stick something in near their brain
we may not puncture their ear you know
what I I can sum up where I stand on
this already it's pretty disturbing and
it freaks me out I'm already
out how do I charge it every night so we
have the the AC charging port can you
stick that knee in your head every night
to charge it yes you would okay you
don't think
hang Are you seriously like it's like a
small Q-tip cylinder that would dock
with what happens if you miss Darren so
that you can't miss you can't miss sure
there's going to be safety features
built into it Darren I need to be clear
on this before I write you off as a nut
job which I'm trying not to
do but I have to understand a team of
doctors imp plant it in your neck below
your ear sure and then you stick
something in your ear in the evening
something what commen something size of

trials before people accepted the idea
