Yes, hello everyone
Hello, this is hide channel
This time, my energy and motivation will increase.
I would like to talk about the recommended books
that helped me become an animator.
We received the following questions from viewers:
If you don't mind, I would like you to tell me what made you want to become an animator.
You are watching this video
I think there are many people among you
who would like to become involved in the art industry,
such as animators, manga artists, and illustrators.
However, there is a bad impression that it is due to age
and that the industry requires hard labor
even though it does not make money,
so I am not sure if I will be able to do it in the future.
I think there are many people who feel anxious and want to get a job as a painter,
but are worried about what to do.
I started aiming to become an animator when I was around 25 to 26 years old.
From there, he saved up money,
entered a vocational school, and joined an animation production company at the age of 29.
Becoming an animator at around 30 years old
is quite late in the animation industry,
so I think normally people would be a little hesitant to start
aiming to become an animator at that age,
but I decided to become an animator.
The reason I've come this far has a lot to do with a book I read when I was young.
The book I'm going to introduce this time is not a so-called technique
book on how to draw or animation,
but is a book for general reading, but I guess you could say that it was
thanks to this book that I was able to become an animator. I don't know
So, this time I will explain why I started aiming to become an animator
and how my energy and motivation increased.
I would like to dig deeper and talk about the books
I recommend that helped me become an animator.
If you watch this video till the end
The reason why I was able to become an animator at nearly 30 years old
and my ability to take action and motivation increases
I think you'll get an idea of the books I recommend,
so if you're an animator or someone who wants to work in art,
but you're feeling anxious, or if you want to work in art, but...
If you don't have the energy and motivation to take action, please watch until the end.
Also, this channel will feature animators, illustrators,
manga artists, etc.
I send out useful information to people
who want to make art a career,
so if you like it,
please subscribe to the channel and set up notifications
so that you can see new videos as soon as possible.
This video is a cutout video of the live broadcast.
Please note that the audio may be difficult to hear in some parts.
Let's get on with it
What made you want to become an animator?
I became an animator when I was 29,
but I was doing completely unrelated things
until I was 25 or 6.
I wonder what will happen if I continue like this
when I reach 30 or 40.
I have a vague sense of anxiety.
At times like these, if I somehow manage to live a relaxed life,
I wonder if my life is okay the way it is.
I feel like there's something more I can do.
I wonder if there's something more serious I should do.
What I was doing at the time may have been good for me,
but I was working as a freelancer
or part-time worker
to make a living,
but I didn't feel it was rewarding.
I was thinking that I would like to do
something musically related.
I'm starting to think that's not the case.
It's different because something doesn't work out.
It's not that this path doesn't seem
right for me.
That's what I vaguely thought
as I worked part-time late at night.
At that time, when I finished work in the morning
and went home and turned on the TV,
I would see TV anime on Sundays.
At that time, my life had nothing
to do with animation.
I happened to watch some TV show that was vaguely showing Precure,
and it was an episode with a really good story.
I want to make a career out of touching
people like that.
The thing that influenced me was the PreCure show that was playing at the time.
"Let's do anime"
This is how we distribute
and answer questions for beginners.
I like the fact that it somehow
touches that person,
and that's what makes my existence worthwhile.
That's why I want to create
works by doing things like that.
I don't get into it
because I want to get better at drawing or anything like that.
Of course I had to get better at
drawing as a result,
but I had a favorite piece of work.
I would like to participate in something like that too
Rather, I think my motivation was that I wanted to do
something that could move
people's hearts as a career.
It just happened to be an animation.
I want to send out something that touches people's hearts.
Rather than wanting to do something on my own,
I thought about wanting to be involved in that
kind of creative work.
I tried it, and I also participated in PreCure,
but once you get into the anime industry,
this is where it gets real.
I've been around for a while,
and ended up
reaching around 40.
I also thought, ``Oh, is it okay to stay like this?''
I came here because I liked it,
but it was a black job.
When you reach around 40, you start thinking about economic aspects.
When I started a family
and had children,
Also, I wonder if it's okay
to just pursue what I want
to do.
When I had to support my wife and child,
I did what I wanted to do.
I think I should shift my goals a little more.
For now, I did what I wanted to do.
Regarding what I learned during that time.
Anyway, the money is cheap,
and animators are paid when they have children
or go out with their families,
and when I thought about what I wanted to do, this profession of animator
Also, when I look up, the reality is that there are almost no people in their 50s
or 60s left in the anime industry.
I'm like, "Where the hell did everyone go?"
There's also the issue of physical strength.
In the end, I think we all feel that as we get older,
it becomes tiring to continue working
at a long-term job.
Even if you work 18 hours a day when you're young,
as you get older, it's no longer possible.
There are various influences
such as reading books by various people,
but in my 30s I can still work depending on my physical strength.
I think I read somewhere that once you reach 40,
you should take advantage of your previous experience and shift to work
that requires your brain,
and I think that's true.
As I approach my 40s, I feel like I
can't just continue to compete with my
physical strength.
Maybe it's still good in your 30's
I'm feeling really tired.
In the end, I ended up wearing two pairs of sandals,
but I guess it suits my nature to teach others.
What is often said is
People say to me, ``You're very good at explaining things,''
but it's a talent
I don't realize I have.
"Oh, really?"
I'm glad to hear that,
but it makes me wonder
if I had that ability too...
Of course, I studied a lot for that purpose.
The order in which to communicate things,
how to communicate them well, etc.
How can I convey it more easily?
Also, the way I speak,
I tend to talk lazily,
but I also
practice my smooth tongue,
which is great for doing YouTube.
In the midst of all this,
I think this is more fun at the moment.
When you work as an animator,
your work is evaluated, but each animator is directly thanked.
Nothing happened.
If it were now, it would be SNS “X” etc.
There may be an exchange where someone says, ``I did this scene,''
and then says, ``That's amazing.''
When I was doing the best in my current career
In the end, the scene
I drew was just a part of 300 cuts.
There are 300 cuts per episode,
so what did you do?
In the end, it is
the company, director, and illustrator
of the work that gets evaluated,
and animator is not the only one in the whole group
who receives such a direct thank you.
In that sense, it's not very rewarding.
Everyone on YouTube can comment directly, right?
It's very rewarding
I wish there was even one person who would say that
I can feel like, “Ah,
I’m glad I did this,” and that’s what makes the difference.
Some people say, ``It takes a lot of courage
to change jobs so quickly,''
or ``I can't quit my job,''
but I think it's fine if it's something you want to do.
If that doesn't work
I'm taking the stance that I should look for
a new job again.
In that sense,
I'll always be an animator.
It's not like you have to do it all the time.
If you want to change your job now, you can easily change it.
Of course, I think it would be better to have some savings for that.
For example, if you don't have enough savings to last for a year,
I'll probably be in trouble when my business doesn't go well.
But he's also an acquaintance of mine.
It's like someone who runs a business
but has hundreds of millions of dollars in debt,
and talks with the bank every day to make ends meet.
If there's something you want to do, just do it.
I've gotten a little off topic about how I feel
like I'm being allowed to do that.
The reason I wanted to become an animator was
because I had some sort of influence on people like that.
It's just that
animation happened to be the career
I wanted to pursue that would give me emotion.
And now that I'm starting to think that
being a school teacher
would be a good idea,
I think I'll give it a try.
I feel like my life is always fluctuating
What I'm saying is that
I think it's good to have some experiences.
YouTube is also good though
The other day, when I went to Yoyogi Animation
as a guest lecturer,
I realized that there is something more realistic
about meeting people face-to-face
and interacting with them while looking at their faces.
I think I'm the one doing it
I think it's also necessary to meet and talk with real people.
In that sense
Maybe I'll start thinking about
becoming a boat racer again in the future.
Probably not possible due to age.
When I started thinking about becoming a chess master
I'll probably do something like that,
and if I want to do boxing because of my personality, I might do it.
Same thing with muscle training, I do it.
I started doing it for health reasons,
but training your body is also good for your mental health.
I think it's great to work in those areas
and master one job,
but if you have a variety of things
you want to do,
I think it's better to do a variety of things.
If anything, I do it
in a wanderer style.
Hayao Miyazaki has always been an anime director.
I'm originally an animator, so it's not really that big of a deal.
I reluctantly do the supervisory job because there is no one to do it.
You said that you actually wanted to work as an animator,
and I think it's great
to master one job for the rest of your life,
but I also wanted to do something that I wanted to do.
My style is to just give it a try,
and if it's good for me,
then that's fine.
There is one book that has influenced me in that sense,
and I would like to introduce it to you,
but it has nothing to do with the story of painting.
If there's something you want to do
If you are worried about this,
you can read this book when you are in your 20s,
so if you have free time, please read it.
This is a book I want
people who are stuck to read to read this book.Ayumu
Takahashi is the type of person who takes action immediately when he
or she realizes what he or she wants to do.
I read this book when I was 22 or 23 years old,
and it was one of the books that really influenced me.
Originally, this person had vague concerns
about what he would do in the future.
I would like to hear from people who are currently feeling vague
anxiety about the future.
So when he was in college, this person admired cowboys.
So I went to America
Apparently, they return home in despair
about the real life of a cowboy.
Next, he opened a bar inspired by Tom
Cruise's movie ``Cocktail.''
It seems to have gone quite well,
but recently, there was
a training camp
that was like hell.
That's why the story is so interesting
I forgot what I said.
I think they said the participation fee was 100,000 yen, I think it was 150,000 yen.
I think it takes a lot of courage for a student
to pay 100,000 yen
to go to a training camp for two nights and three days.
It seems like I gained a lot from participating in it.
this is interesting
and open a bar
He says he's influenced by Gandhi,
so he's actually going to meet him, so let's go.
Tell me where is Gandhi?
They say they can meet them if they go here,
and then they actually go.
I'll actually meet you
He's the type of person
who immediately puts into action
whatever he thinks he wants to become.
Wouldn't it be cool
if an autobiography with your name was lined up in a bookstore?
People who are doing it with such enthusiasm
create a publishing company.
This is called Sanctuary Publishing.
At that time, I was addicted to Manga Sanctuary.
I like it too, but it's interesting so I want you to read this one too.
For some reason, the book was a hit.
I might not think anything of it now, though.
20 million yen in debt
is pretty tough for a student in his 20s.
This person, who has experienced the depths of despair several times,
has about 8 million yen to open a bar.
When I was younger, I was reminded that
this is the way to live,
and that also influenced me.
I didn't become an animator right away when I said, ``Yes,
I'm going to become an animator!''
But I decided to give it a try anyway,
and I took action right away.
The kind of people who say, "Yes,
I want to become a YouTuber," and just give it a try.
And what did you do after that?
I said yes, let's build a base.
I forget the motive behind this,
but it seems like they're building a hideout or beach rock house in Okinawa.
I went there too, and somehow
I was influenced by this person's book
and decided to do whatever I thought of.
That's why I went to see Okinawa too.
After that, I went to an event with Ayumu.
It just so happened
that Ayumu-san was at TSUTAYA in Sancha,
where I was living at the time, to sell a new book,
and it seemed like he was just there for a meeting.
I'm thinking of arranging them around here, roughly like this.
Maybe that's what happened when we talked about it?
I can't believe there are people
who have seen it before.
It was also good that I was able to say
``Ayumu-san'' at that time and was easily approached.
Opportunity to have a little chat
It's just a little, but let's take a photo together
At that time, I had
the experience of being able to meet someone I admired.
It was very good for me
After all, it's not Ayumu-san vs.
everyone, but Ayumu-san vs. myself.
I happened to be able to meet him
one-on-one and I was able to feel that energy,
which was really great for me.I
don't remember the details of what was said at that time,
word for word, but it was an experience.
Anyway, I said, ``You owe me this.''
I was told things like, ``If you want to repay me for this loan,
you should promote this book anyway.''
At that time, an acquaintance told me that I should
just say it.
Take a picture with me and shake my hand
Let me talk to you
He was a really friendly person and was really nice.
It really struck me that people
with a lot of experience have an aura about them,
and people often say that
celebrities have a great aura.
Because he's a celebrity, he has a great aura.
The behavior of people who have experienced various things,
or something like that, is amazing.
I really felt that, and at that time
I went on a trip around the world with my wife and children.
Maybe the order is different
Maybe it's the other way around
No, that's not true
I think they made a beach rock house first.
You also set up bases in places like New York.
I haven't been here,
but they were setting up a bar.
I think there are many people
who are still involved in various activities,
and a book about them has been published.Going back to the original point,
what is it that you really want to do? Didn't
we talk about that at the beginning?
for what you want to do
Animator, cartoonist, illustrator,
whatever.
Maybe some of you are watching this channel
I think there are many people who want to become better at drawing.
I also keep an eye on what will happen
after I get better at drawing.
Then I got better at drawing
and decided what I wanted to do.
As I said earlier,
Influence people by being influenced by anime
I'd rather do work that moves
people's hearts.
It's win-win
A job that is fun for me and helps people
In the end, the more people are able to help the people around them at work, the more
I think that making money is a job.
In that sense, this job is good.
It will be broadcast nationwide on TV and will be seen by many people.
If you're going to put it in there
A job that helps others and gives you satisfaction
I said, "This is it!"
and became an animator.
You can become better at drawing as a means.
I think it's better
for people who want to get better
at drawing to have one goal in mind when drawing.
If there's something you want to do
I think we should work towards that quickly.
The story is that if you do it, you win.
I'm also thinking that if there's a school that lets me work
as a teacher this year,
I'll give it a try.
Books like this are deep within me,
and I feel like I won't understand until I try.
There are some scary parts like worrying about what to do if you fail,
but it's okay if you just try.
That's why I recommend it to people.
Now that I've talked about it, I've thought about it again.
It helped me organize my head so it was good.
If you are lost, please read it once.
I also want people to realize that
there is a way to live like this.
I only have one life
I thought it would be a good idea to try different things.
``Dreams don't run away,
you're the one who runs away.'' It's a common phrase,
but I think it really hits home.
In the end, it's a matter of what you do.
Thank you everyone for your hard work today
See you next time, this time
I will be more active and motivated.
I became an animator
