Q & A
What is the main topic of discussion in the video script?
-The main topic of discussion is the possibility of a revival or new content for the animated series 'Regular Show', following the success of other Cartoon Network revivals like 'Adventure Time: Distant Lands'.
Why are revivals of old hits considered safe bets by networks?
-Revivals are considered safe bets because they have a guaranteed audience and are less risky compared to greenlighting new ideas, providing a sense of familiarity and comfort to both the network and the viewers.
What was the impact of 'Fiona and Cake' on the decision to revive more Cartoon Network shows?
-The success of 'Fiona and Cake', which outperformed other HBO Max Originals, indicated that young adult animated revivals of Cartoon Network's 2010s catalog are popular and profitable, encouraging the network to consider more revivals.
How does the speaker suggest 'Regular Show' could be adapted for an adult audience?
-The speaker suggests that 'Regular Show' could be adapted into a TV-14 series with more adult themes such as blood, swearing, and mature storylines while still retaining its original charm.
What evidence does the speaker provide to support the idea that an adult version of 'Regular Show' would work?
-The speaker cites the success of 'Close Enough', a show with similar adult themes and dynamics, as evidence that an adult version of 'Regular Show' could be successful.
What are the two potential routes for a new 'Regular Show' project according to the speaker?
-The two potential routes are: 1) A show that takes place after the finale but before the epilogue, focusing on the main characters' adventures and interactions with familiar faces. 2) A '25 years later' story, exploring the characters in their 40s or 50s, their children, and potentially revisiting their youth.
Why might 'Regular Show' be a more cost-effective revival compared to 'Steven Universe'?
-The speaker suggests that 'Regular Show' might be more cost-effective because it was not the most expensive show Cartoon Network made, and a new series would likely look different but not require a significant increase in budget.
What is the significance of the 'Cartoon Cartoons' program mentioned in the script?
-The 'Cartoon Cartoons' program is significant as it represents Cartoon Network's initiative to develop original programming that could potentially spawn new hits, alongside revivals of old favorites.
How does the speaker address the potential for more ambitious storytelling in a new 'Regular Show' series?
-The speaker suggests that a new 'Regular Show' series could have the entire world at its disposal, allowing for more ambitious storytelling and interesting episodes, possibly avoiding the perceived filler issues of the space season.
What is the speaker's opinion on the likelihood of a 'Regular Show' revival?
-The speaker believes that a 'Regular Show' revival is more a matter of 'when' rather than 'if', given the show's enduring popularity and the success of other revivals.
How does the speaker engage the audience to continue the conversation about a potential 'Regular Show' revival?
-The speaker asks the audience directly for their thoughts on the idea of a 'Regular Show' revival, what it might be about, and whether they would want it to explore the characters' growth into adulthood.

📺 Revival of Cartoon Network Hits
Cartoon Network, under Warner Bros., is reviving popular shows from the 2010s like Adventure Time, Steven Universe, and potentially Regular Show. Revivals are popular due to their guaranteed audience and profitability. Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake's success demonstrated the potential of these revivals, leading to more investments in young adult animated series. Regular Show, with its adult themes and lasting popularity, is a prime candidate for revival, especially with creator JG Quintel's interest in continuing the series.
🛣️ Potential Plotlines for Regular Show Revival
A new Regular Show project could explore two main routes: continuing the story after the series finale but before the epilogue, or setting it 25 years later to explore the characters' lives in their 40s or 50s. The first option could feature road trip adventures with familiar faces, while the second could delve into the characters' families and future dynamics. Both options offer opportunities for rich storytelling and character development, capitalizing on the show's established world and fanbase.

Transcripts
Cartoon Network is Never Letting Go of
the 2010s Adventure Time's back gumballs
coming back Rebecca sugar wants Stephen
Universe back the only heavy hitter
missing from the conversation is Regular
Show and honestly I think we're a lot
closer to new content than you may
realize but what would a new Regular
Show project even look like let's talk
about it so here's the thing if you're
tired of reboots and revivals I got that
news for you while Cartoon Network
although it's really just Warner Bros
anim now does have original programming
the pipeline such as Invincible fight
girl and yanu child of Wonder alongside
the cartoon cartoons program which could
spawn a plethora of new hits they're
still going to fall back on Reviving old
hits simply because their safe bets fan
cake itself really changed the game it
was everywhere when it was rolling out
on Max it caused Adventure Time To
Conquer social media by storm and while
we don't have definitive proof as a lot
of streaming his hold analytics to the
chest it's reasonable to assume that it
outperformed the other Max Originals
considering it got a genuine renewal one
that was announced before the season
even entered production usually when a
service or network announces a renewal
the season they're announcing has
already been long underway not Fiona and
Cake when season 2 was announced you had
the crew with the first season asking if
they could come back and as I'm
recording this artists are posting about
how they're starting on the new season I
really don't think Max expect expected
this to be the hit that it was but now
that it is I think they're going to go
full steam ahead with young adult
animated revivals of their 20 2010's
catalog animation is expensive but when
you got a hit it can also be insanely
profitable and while higher-ups are
anxious about greenlighting new ideas
they still need a slate for their
Network or platform which is where
revivals come into play because they
have a guaranteed audience so those
calling the shots feel more comfortable
green lighting though and in a host F
and cake world obviously Regular Show
would be next in line be real with me
how many my Mom memes do you see on a
daily basis probably like at least three
right I see at least three Regular Show
is everywhere it's been everywhere for
years now even since the show ended and
like Adventure Time it always existed in
that weird Middle Ground of yeah it's a
kids cartoon it's airing on cartoon OIC
at like 12:00 in the afternoon but it's
a lot raunchier than your average kid
cartoon the cast are all adults they're
working adult jobs and it just hits a
lot different once you are an adult the
show is already perfect for someone in
their 20s or 30s I honestly think most
viewers would appreciate it more at that
age than they would as kids so if you're
going to give another show The Fan cake
treatment graduating into a TV 14 series
that has blood and swearing and more
adult themes while still retaining the
charm and what made it special it
definitely would be the show that was
basically Adventure Time's companion the
entire time both shows were on air not
only that but JG Quinto went on record
years ago saying that after close enough
he'd definitely be down for more Regular
Show obviously everybody knows about the
Regular Show will we see any type of
reiteration with that show in the future
you know you never know if people still
remember the Regular Show after we
finished this who knows maybe I could do
[Music]
more well close enough has been done for
some time and somehow Regular Show is
even bigger now than it was then not to
mention Max themselves considered close
enough a hit before they purch it from
the platform yeah figure that one out
and the show pretty much was just adult
Regular Show the characters had
different Dynamics for sure but it still
had the same level of H Jinks episode
still had an insane escalation from
where they began it scratched that same
itch while still doing something new so
if you need proof that an adult Regular
Show would work you have three seasons
of Pretty good television to make a case
for it okay so young adult revivals are
proven to be a success Regular Show as
an adult Series has kind of been proven
to work and JG Quinto said he'd be down
for more the stars are aligning but that
just leaves the question of what the
hell an adult Regular Show would even be
about because we had the finale we saw
pops die morai and rickaby moved out of
the Park's house everyone started
families with a ton of kids and Bon had
pets where do you take the story from
here honestly that is a very easy answer
for me as I think there's two routes
they could go down the first route being
just give us a show that takes place
after the finale but before the epilogue
so warai and riby would no longer work
at the park but they're still hanging
out they're still staying in touch with
their friends and they're still getting
into batshit Insane Adventures and if
they're taking cues from Fiona and Cake
this series would probably be serious
realized so I could definitely see it
having some sort of road trip Vibes
where it's morai and RI on an adventure
and every episode they run into a
familiar face the first episode could be
skips then musclean and High Five Ghost
then Benson then maybe CJ or Margaret
and then at the finale not only do you
bring the characters back together but
you pull out the trump card where the
ghost of Pops makes an appearance come
on it's Regular Show Pops popping up as
a ghost is not out of the question and
we all know it and I mean that's really
it at the end of the day it's Regular
Show just because we saw them at a park
reunion doesn't me that there couldn't
be stories in between especially in this
crazy ass world no matter how old they
get I don't think morai and Ricky will
ever really stop getting into
Shenanigans the world is just too
chaotic for that to happen I feel like
you could easily insert a new story
anywhere in the timeline and it would
make sense and it would be interesting
to see plus I would love to see Regular
Show with some more ambitious
storytelling not saying they have to
take it completely seriously and I know
we had that season in space but come on
despite the god tier finale that's a lot
of people's least favorite season for a
reason because in terms of an actual
story it's like 85% filler and they just
didn't make the most out of the space
status quo I'm thinking a series like
this would have the entire world at its
disposal so every episode has a chance
at being interesting but for route
number two they could take a page out of
the comics and give us a 25 years later
story let us get a peek at morai and
Rigby in like their 40s or 50s let's get
to know their kids let's get to know
mori's wife who are you lady or they can
pull a kind of lame move like the comics
and have morai and Rick end up reverting
to their youth for a little bit Yeah
that's what happens in the comics I was
uh a little disappointed reading that
but either way I really don't think you
could go wrong here I mean I'm sure
people had their doubts about foda and
cake and while not everyone was wowed by
the finale most people were still
pleasantly surprised by the show as a
whole and now we got a second season to
fully realize its potential I really do
think Regular Show is just a matter of
when and not if more so than Steven
sorry to all my crystal gems out there
but I feel like a Steven Universe series
you're going to want to put some money
into that and while I'm not saying
Regular Show is cheap come on you know
this was not the most expensive Show
Cartoon Network made and while I'm sure
a new series would look a little
different like how foda and cake looks
like a little different from Adventure
Time proper I think they would be
delighted in having a banger on their
hands that they don't have to break the
bank for but I guess we'll just have to
wait and see for now I want to know what
you guys think are you down for the
inevitable Regular Show Revival what do
you think it'd be about and would you
want an emotional core I didn't really
talk about one in this video but I'm
sure they continue to explore morai and
Ricky growing up becoming adults while
still holding on to their childlike
Wonder yeah let's get a conversation
going check out 200% dope cartoon and if
you enjoyed this video please thr to
like And subscribe to the round table
for more great cartoon content thank you
for watching and I hope you guys have a
great day see you
