This man, who had the least faith, crawls out of hell scorched, praises Allah, and is instructed to enter Jannah. Upon finding all homes occupied, he returns to Allah who grants him everything he wishes for and more, including ten times the worldly kingdoms. When the man expresses disbelief, thinking Allah is mocking him, Allah reassures him of His omnipotence. The narrative emphasizes Allah's boundless mercy and generosity.

05:02

🌟 Personal Desires in Jannah

Allah promises that in Jannah, all desires will be fulfilled. This concept is illustrated by a Bedouin questioning the Prophet about a farmer who wishes to cultivate land in paradise. 🌟 Allah’s Customization of Jannah

Jannah is tailored to each individual's desires, even those unmet in the worldly life. For instance, a woman might wish to experience motherhood in paradise. Highlights

The Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam said, 'I have seen the very last person to get out of hell and enter into Jannah.'

This person has the very least faith in hellfire, an atom's worth of faith in his heart, to where Allah takes him out at the very end from Jahannam to enter him into paradise.

The Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam said, he comes crawling out entirely scorched, and he looks back at hellfire and says, 'Alhamdulillah I'm done with you.'

Allah tells him, 'Go ahead and enter into the Garden of Paradise.'

In the Garden of Paradise, he finds that all the homes are occupied and returns to Allah, saying, 'Oh my lord! The people have taken all of the homes.'

Allah says to him, 'Make a wish.' The man wishes for the entire kingdom of the world, everything that existed of kingdom that this dunya ever possessed.

Allah grants him his wish and gives him the whole world ten times over.

The man, astonished, says, 'Are you making fun of me, and you are the Lord of all the worlds?' Allah replies, 'I have power over whatever I want.'

The Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam laughs when recounting this, and his laughter reveals his back teeth.

Jannah is tailored to each person's desires, as Allah promises a paradise that will forever please the individual.

A man in Jannah who loves farming asks Allah to cultivate the land, and his crops grow instantly to mountains.

Even specific desires like pregnancy and having children will be fulfilled in Jannah in a painless and rapid manner.

Allah knows and will fulfill the natural desires of each person, even if they cannot perceive it now.

Trusting Allah in this life means knowing that He will provide something better, and this trust carries into Jannah.

Every du'a made here is responded to with something better, and every wish in Jannah is fulfilled in the best possible way.

Transcripts

play00:01

Abdullah Ibn Masood radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu narrates that

play00:03

the prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam said

play00:05

"I have seen the very

play00:08

last person to get out of hell and enter into Jannah."

play00:13

Now I want you to think about this man

play00:14

and there are several narrations about him.

play00:17

This is the person who has the very least faith

play00:21

in hellfire, an atom's worth of faith in his heart

play00:25

to where Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la takes him

play00:27

out at the very end from Jahanam to enter him into paradise.

play00:32

Yet look how Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la is going

play00:34

to treat this man.

play00:48

The prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam said

play00:50

he comes crawling

play00:51

out entirely scorched, and he looks back

play00:54

at hellfire and he says, "Alhamdulillah I'm done with you."

play00:58

And then Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la tells him

play01:00

"Go ahead and enter into the Garden of Paradise."

play01:04

So in this narration, he goes

play01:06

and he enters into the Garden of Paradise.

play01:10

But what he finds is

play01:11

that the people have all occupied their homes.

play01:14

So imagine he goes through the neighborhoods

play01:16

of Jannah and he says, "I don't see anything.

play01:19

It looks like all the houses are occupied."

play01:22

So he comes back to Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la and he says,

play01:25

"Ya Rab! Qad akhatha al-nas ul-manazil"

play01:28

"Oh my lord! The people have taken

play01:31

all of the homes.

play01:31

There was no for sale sign

play01:33

there was no home with my name on it.

play01:34

What do I do?"

play01:35

And Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la says to him,

play01:38

"Atathkuru zamana alathy kunta feehi"

play01:41

"Do you even remember the time that you were in?

play01:44

Like, do you have any recollection of time?

play01:47

Do you know where you are?

play01:48

Do you know how long you were in hellfire?

play01:50

Do you remember anything about your existence

play01:53

before being in Jahannam for all of those years?"

play01:56

So he says, "yes."

play01:58

So Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la says to him,

play02:00

"Tamanna. Make a wish."

play02:02

So he's going to think and say, "I wish for something

play02:08

and for the entire kingdom of the world", meaning what?

play02:13

"Everything that existed of Mulk, of kingdom

play02:16

that this dunya ever possessed, everything

play02:19

from Suleiman 'Alayhi Salaam's kingdom

play02:21

Dawood 'Alayhi Salaam's kingdom

play02:22

to Firaun and Qarun

play02:24

Right

play02:24

I want it all Oh Allah to be given to me."

play02:28

And Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la says to him,

play02:30

"Fa-inna laka alathy tamanayta,

play02:33

wa'ashrata adh'afi dunya"

play02:35

"You know what you have that something that you wished for

play02:38

and you have the whole world 10 times over."

play02:42

So this man just got out of hellfire,

play02:45

has very little belief in his heart, right?

play02:47

Is the last person to go in.

play02:49

He couldn't even find a house in Jannah for himself.

play02:52

And now, he makes a wish

play02:54

and Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la says,

play02:55

"You get what you wish and I'm gonna give you

play02:56

the whole world times 10,

play02:58

everything that existed in this world times 10."

play03:01

And he says,

play03:03

"Ya Rab, Oh my Lord,

play03:05

"Atahza'u minee, wa anta Rabbil'Alameen?

play03:07

"Are you making fun of me,

play03:09

And you are the Lord of all the worlds?"

play03:11

And Ibn Masood radiAllahu Anhu started to laugh.

play03:14

And he said, "Why are you laughing?"

play03:15

He said, "Because the prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam

play03:17

started to laugh

play03:18

and he laughed so much that you could see his back teeth."

play03:21

And we said, "Ya Rasulallah, why are you laughing?

play03:23

He said, "Because Allah laughs when the man says this

play03:27

and says to him, 'I'm not making fun of you

play03:30

Walaa kinnee 'ala ma asha'u qadir

play03:33

"But I have power over whatever I want."

play03:37

Meaning I can do whatever I want.

play03:39

SubhanAllah

play03:41

So what is Jannah to you?

play03:42

It might be different for everyone to an extent

play03:45

because in this life we don't all like the same things

play03:48

or necessarily want the same things.

play03:51

But you have to realize that you're dealing

play03:54

with Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la who created you

play03:57

who knows what pleases you and is promising you

play03:59

a paradise that will forever please you.

play04:03

Now, will what pleases you here be the same thing in Jannah?

play04:06

In some cases, yes. And in some cases, no,

play04:09

because we have different wants in Jannah.

play04:11

But in some ways no two people's Jannah

play04:14

is going to look exactly the same.

play04:16

And when Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la

play04:17

speaks about Jannah in the Qur'an,

play04:19

he's speaking to generally

play04:21

what will motivate the men and the women.

play04:23

So Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la is giving us things

play04:25

that fit the majority,

play04:27

that fit the generalities,

play04:29

knowing that there are specific things

play04:31

that different believing men and women are going to want.

play04:34

And Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la is not going to disappoint.

play04:37

So when you think about Jannah

play04:38

do you want to fly in Jannah like Ja'far

play04:41

radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu, with the angels?

play04:43

Do you want to hang out

play04:44

and kick back on a particular beach with particular people?

play04:47

If you're a kid, do you wanna play with your Pokemon cards?

play04:50

What do you want in Jannah? Jannah is what you want.

play04:53

Jannah is what you wish.

play04:55

Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la says

play04:57

wafiha ma tashtahihi l-anfus wataladhul a-'yun

play05:02

"That in it is all that the souls desire

play05:05

and the eyes delight in,

play05:07

wa-antum fiha khalidun

play05:09

and you will be there forever."

play05:10

and Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la says,

play05:11

walakum fiha ma tashtahi anfusukum walakum fiha ma tadda'un

play05:15

"You will have all that your soul desires

play05:17

and anything you ask for."

play05:20

So Abu Hurayra radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu

play05:22

He says that while the prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam

play05:23

was talking one day, there was a Bedouin.

play05:26

And this Bedouin comes to the

play05:28

prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam

play05:30

and he hears the prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam saying

play05:33

that a man

play05:34

from the people of paradise will ask

play05:36

Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la to

play05:38

cultivate the land so that he could grow crops himself.

play05:41

Now, basically the prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam

play05:44

is telling us

play05:44

that this man that enters into Jannah

play05:46

happens to love to farm.

play05:48

And so he wants to farm in Jannah.

play05:50

Now maybe that doesn't resonate with you at all

play05:52

because you've never experienced what it's like to

play05:54

grow something and you just wanna relax

play05:56

in Jannah and eat whatever comes off the tree.

play05:58

But some people love the experience of seeing something grow

play06:02

of farming and eating from their own hands.

play06:05

So Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la will ask him

play06:07

"Didn't you already get everything that you wanted?

play06:09

Everything you desired?"

play06:10

And he'll say, "yes, oh, Allah.

play06:12

But I like to grow things myself.

play06:14

I want to cultivate the land and grow things myself."

play06:18

And so Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la will say to him, "Fine."

play06:21

And he will sow the seeds

play06:23

and within seconds his plants will grow

play06:26

and ripen and the yield will be harvested

play06:29

and piled in heaps like mountains.

play06:32

And Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la will say to him,

play06:34

"Take, O son of Adam,

play06:35

whatever you like, for nothing seems to satisfy you."

play06:39

So the Bedouin that was there, he says Ya Rasulallah

play06:41

"This person must be from Quraysh or they're probably

play06:44

from the Ansar because they like to farm

play06:47

and we could care less for farming."

play06:49

And the prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam started to laugh

play06:51

and 'Ikrima radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu he said

play06:53

"That a man in paradise just thinks to himself, 'you know

play06:57

if Allah gives me permission,

play06:57

I would cultivate my own land.'

play07:00

And all of a sudden he notices the angels

play07:03

at his door saying, "As-salamu alayk,

play07:06

Peace be unto to you.

play07:08

Your Lord is saying that you had a desire

play07:10

in your heart and he knew it.

play07:12

So he sent us with the seeds."

play07:14

And he'll tell the angels to sow them and they will do so

play07:18

and they will grow crops like mountains instantly.

play07:21

This is Jannah, what do you want from it?

play07:24

Right? And SubhanAllah

play07:25

this is something that, you know, really speaks

play07:28

to the generosity of Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la,

play07:31

that a person thinks of Jannah differently

play07:33

and Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la rewards them accordingly.

play07:36

Now, it may be something you desired

play07:38

in this dunya that never happened.

play07:41

So for example:

play07:42

a woman might want to experience being pregnant

play07:45

and having children, either because that was a joy for her

play07:48

or maybe she never had that joy in this dunya.

play07:51

Even though pregnancy is tough in this dunya

play07:53

and it comes with a lot of pain

play07:55

maybe a woman wants to experience that in Jannah again

play07:58

or for the first time.

play07:59

So in one narration,

play08:00

the prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam says,

play08:02

al-mu'minu idhash-tahal wa-lada fil-jannah

play08:05

kana hamluhu wa-wadʿuhu wa-sinuhu

play08:08

fi saʿatin kama yashtahi

play08:11

That if the believer wants to have a child

play08:13

in paradise, the pregnancy, the delivery

play08:18

and the weening will all take place within an hour.

play08:20

And an hour here doesn't mean 60 minutes

play08:23

but a short time as they desire, a painless process.

play08:27

Then the child will be the age that they please.

play08:30

How is that possible?

play08:32

How do you have kids in Jannah?

play08:33

What does that look like?

play08:34

What's the delivery like?

play08:36

Again, that's not for you to worry about.

play08:39

Jannah is for you from Allah who knows you best.

play08:44

Now a question comes up, what about unnatural desires?

play08:48

You see Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la

play08:50

is speaking to the fitra

play08:51

of people in the Qur'an,

play08:53

and he's speaking to things that from

play08:54

from a fitri perspective, from a natural perspective.

play08:57

Most women, men, whatever it is

play09:00

want these things that Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la

play09:02

is saying to them.

play09:03

But what if you have an unnatural desire?

play09:06

Does Allah purify the desire

play09:08

or does Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la perfect the reward?

play09:11

See, here's the thing.

play09:12

Just because you desire something now doesn't mean

play09:16

that you will there.

play09:17

And Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la is promising you

play09:19

that you won't be displeased in Jannah.

play09:22

Allah is the one who creates your desires.

play09:25

Then Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la creates the rewards

play09:27

that suit those desires.

play09:29

And part of Tawakkul, or trusting

play09:31

Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la

play09:32

in this life, is what? It's knowing that Allah will give you

play09:36

something better even if you can't see it.

play09:39

And in Jannah, you trust that Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la

play09:42

will give you

play09:43

an unseen reward that is better than anything you

play09:46

could have imagined, even if you can't perceive that now.

play09:49

So even if you never heard a single description of Jannah

play09:53

it would be enough to know

play09:55

that Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la has

play09:57

customized a Jannah for you that he knows will please you.

play10:01

But Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la still tells us

play10:03

some of the specifics to appeal to us.

play10:07

And even that alone is from his generosity and mercy.

play10:10

Know that every du'a that you make here is only responded

play10:14

to with better.

play10:15

And every wish that you make there is only

play10:18

responded to with better.
