🔧 How to Replace a Fuel Filter on a 6.6 Liter Duramax
This video tutorial demonstrates the process of replacing a fuel filter on a 6.6 liter Duramax engine. The host begins by locating the fuel filter, which is situated near the priming button and fill filters, with a sensor connected to its bottom. To access the filter, the inner fender well is removed for better visibility. The first step in the replacement process is to disconnect the sensor. The old diesel fuel is then drained and discarded. Care is taken to avoid stripping the filter when removing it, as this would necessitate purchasing a new one. The new filter comes with an O-ring, which is lubricated with engine oil before installation. The video emphasizes the importance of lubricating the O-rings to ensure a proper seal. After installing the new filter, the rubber fitting is removed from the old filter to prevent double-up, which would hinder proper installation. The tutorial concludes with the installation of the new filter and the removal of the bleeder screw, followed by a few pumps to pressurize the system, indicating completion of the task.
🛠️ Finalizing the Fuel Filter Replacement and Video Conclusion
The second paragraph of the script details the final steps in replacing the fuel filter on a Duramax engine. It starts with the reinstallation of the blue bleeder screw, which is then released to allow for system pressurization. The host advises viewers to ensure the system is properly pressurized by pumping it a few times. The video concludes with the host expressing hope that the tutorial was helpful and inviting viewers to ask any questions in the comments section. He also reminds viewers to subscribe for future content related to upgrades, updates, and fixes on Duramax engines. Transcripts
what's going on guys today I'm going to
show you how to replace a fuel filter on
a 6.6 liter Duramax stay tuned so this
is where your fuel filter is actually
located right there with that priming
button is and the fill filters right
below it and there'll be a sensor
connected to the bottom of it as well
all right guys so this is something you
don't have to do I'm gonna head and take
off this inner fender well but you can
access the field filter from the top of
the engine this just makes it more
convenient for me in the video I get a
lot more access to what I'm able to do
this you got these little body Clips
that pop out right here alright so first
what you're going to want to go ahead
and do is just disconnect this sensor
right here via water and feel separate
or sensor right here right next
go ahead and get your your oil wrench
just like that alright so next once
you're going to go ahead and do is just
disposal this old diesel fuel you're not
going to want to reuse that alright next
we going to want to go ahead and pull
this off do not strip that part right
there if you do you're going to be in
trouble you have to buy a new one go
just comes out like that
and there'll be an o-ring attached to
this part right here here's a new oil
filter pretty standard it also comes
with instructions make sure you read the
instructions right here we actually have
a little diagram right here on you know
exactly how it's actually supposed to be
put back together alright so can have a
little o-ring in a big o-ring
I always like to I always like to
lubricate these rings here with some
engine oil or whatever you got it's
always good to lubricate this stuff when
you put it back on it's actually a must
alright alright next I'm gonna go ahead
and put the center back on
okay what's that uh once that fuel
filters off there will be the rubber
fitting that comes with the fuel filter
so make sure you pull that off first so
you don't double up on that it will not
go on properly it's time to install the
new field filter
all right so people like to use
screwdrivers to pull out that bleeder
screw I don't really like it because
I've you know stripped those things
quite a bit so I like to use a 13
millimeter small socket just to be able
to get back there so I'm not stripping
anything alright once you've actually
built that fuel filter just push down on
that just a little bit more to get some
of the air bubbles out like that and
then that's when you're going to want to
go ahead and just tighten that back up
once you got that blue bleeder screw
back on we'll just release it just pump
it a few times to pressurize the system
a little bit and you should be good to
go
so hope this video is helpful if there's
something I might have forgotten in the
video make sure that you ask the
question in the comment below make sure
I get back with you and don't forget to
subscribe as I'm always posting new
upgrades updates and fixes on my Duramax
but as always thanks for watching and
have a great day
