Transcripts
well to all the saints of God good
morning everyone and as is our time now
of 9:00 time for us once again to start
another wonderful lesson we ask that we
all may rise to our feet and this
morning we ask that we all go hopefully
with the same mindset that God would
plac upon each and every one of us some
knowledge and wisdom about this lesson
that we can truly have a clear
understanding of what it says to us upon
this day so with those words being said
father is once again at this hour upon
this time of the day that we come to you
as always with Humble Hearts we come
right now dear Lord giving your name all
praise all glory and truly all the honor
that you so truly are worthy of we thank
you dear Lord for giving us this
opportunity that we may dialogue we we
may discuss we may dive into a lesson
dear Lord that will help Enlighten Us in
the path that you would have us to go on
we ask right now blessings upon those
that are here and those truly that still
may be on their way for in Jesus name we
give this prayer amen amen
amen well once again good morning to
each and every one of
you let me just start off in a familiar
way to a certain extent and the first
question I have for you is this who
here has not looked over that
lesson don't be bashful who is not okay
I'm in good company because I haven't
looked at it
either who here has gone over the
lesson I got a hand or two good because
I'm gonna need your help
in teaching this
lesson this week let me just since he's
not in you I had a revving Beacher
moment this week as you all know each
week when the lesson ends I immediately
start on the following lesson um I do it
religiously each and every week um
because that's the way the spirit works
with me and I get my inspiration and the
mind that away I'm going from there you
will find that even today when service
starts if you notice I come out and I
stand up I pull my tab out and I'm good
looking I'm not ignoring anything going
to the service I'm already starting
reading next week's lesson as the songs
are being sung and things are being said
it all comes to me where we have to go
with a lesson and each week I will say
that I put in a couple hour hour maybe
give or take each night so in the end I
might have six to eight hours of study
time in which is kind of interesting
because you study 68 hours but you only
hear what 45 minutes but still it helps
I enjoy being in the word in that
fashion and going over it this week I
got a late start I started probably
really getting into the lesson probably
Wednesday or Thursday before I started
looking at it and reading over it and as
usual I read all my verses I look up the
background what was going at that time
who was in power who not was in power I
look up various definitions I get my
support scripture straight to my head
and I kind of roll from there because
the lesson was the third lesson as you
know of the unit and I studied it but I
had a problem each night in reading the
lesson because I kept saying how in the
world am I'm going present this lesson
in the way that's supposed to be
presented because you know our theme for
this unit is
what what's the theme for the
unit that's the that's the overall theme
theme for the unit confir confirmed by
power over death that's the theme so I
said how can I relate this lesson to
Jesus having power over death because
really it doesn't really focus upon that
but nevertheless I guess that's what you
call Wallace's Spirit speaking to you I
kept on studying anyway I said I don't
know how I'm going pull this thing
together but then late yesterday
probably around 2:3
3:00 that's when it hit
me we are in unit number one lesson
number
three all week I got it all laid out I
did lesson number three of unit number
two so all week I studied the wrong
lesson and I started to pull a fast one
and said we're going to skip and get
ahead but I said nah that's going to
throw things out of sequence so we have
to you know do this one in its proper
order so with that being said I
basically just glanced over this and
that was pretty much it but guess what
as I just stated earlier when you study
six to8 hours a week a lot of things you
tend to retain so therefore we're going
to teach this lesson I guess you could
say off experience and things that we
know because the lesson we're dealing
with you all you guys know this lesson
don't you you know all about Lazarus
being raised but what I'm going to do is
I guess I'm going to present it in the
fashion that normally I would as far as
if I was studying it because typically
when you study a lesson you read the
verses before it and the verses after it
because when you look at this lesson
we're starting at what
verse 38 because 38 starts all by saying
Jesus therefore again
groaning well when I see that I may just
say in my study I got to go back to see
what led to this in the first place
so what we're going to do is just like I
would study it I'm going back to verse
one I'm going to work my way all the way
up to the lesson now we only have seven
verses will we cover those verses I
don't know but I do know this you guys
already know the lesson that's the
beautiful part about it you already know
the lesson you know and just to
introduce our lesson back to us again as
we know our overall theme that we have
been dealing with is a subject matter
that's you'll find the word is not in
the Bible but it is talked about
throughout the Bible and we have been
dealing with what we call the Trinity
other words the godhead something that
has been confusing for many folks
especially non-believers they are truly
confused about this concept of what we
call the godhead the one divided into
three in unity which mix up the godhead
of the Father the Son and the Holy
Spirit they are confused or we are
confused with the concept of the three
dissolved into one yet in unity which
mix up the
godhead and even Believers leave
confused with that concept but in the
end I would said that no matter how it's
taught and how much you study it in the
end because of our finite thinking we
have to accept it on one premise and
that is on faith that it is what it is
because God has spoken to us in the
scripture by saying that at times we
look through glass Darkly but the day
shall come when we shall see things
plainly and things shall be revealed
unto you what that scripture deals with
is there are some things guess what we
just don't understand but the time and
day is going to come when God's going to
reveal it plainly to us so with those
words being said this is what we're
diving into today and dealing with what
we call that of the Trinity as we know
our theme is that of Jesus Is God and we
kind of read it backwards to where God
is Jesus since we're deal with the
Trinity you have to deal with how that
is confirmed if you deal with that first
unit was that of confirmed by power over
death
and each of these lesson deals with
power over death that why I was baffled
this week in studying and I said this
lesson deals with Jesus having powers
over demons it doesn't deal with death
until I realized I was in the wrong
lesson all week long but yet if you look
at this one it deals with Jesus claims
to deity in our first lesson and that
lesson just used part of the first verse
and the second verse it deals with Jesus
having power shall we say over death it
deals with his deity other words his
position
his power his status his glory his
exaltation and where he stands in that
of being God and God in that of being
Jesus in that lesson Jesus said that if
you shall stay in my word you shall be
my disciples indeed ye shall know the
truth and the truth shall set you free
what he was teaching there was if they
would follow in his words they would
know the truth and the truth was that if
you believe in Jesus and truly ask for
forgiveness that he is faithful and just
and will forgive you of all your sins
and that if you are truly remorseful in
your heart and believe that he is the
Son of God you have your salvation and
knowing this that truth is what sets you
free from that of the curse of sin and
that which brings about death that's
what it dealt with but another way we
looked at that was we went back and said
if you read those verses and the part
about truth you take out and put jesus'
name there it changes the whole concept
because it says basically that if you
continue in my word word ye shall know
the truth and the truth shall set you
free you read it another way it says if
you stay in my word you are my disciples
indeed and you shall know Jesus and
Jesus shall set you free because Jesus
even spoke these words later himself in
this very same Gospel of John was saying
that I am the way the resurrection and
the life and then in chapter 14 he says
I am the way the truth and the life so
when you see that word truth you can
always supplement Christ's name there
and you get the full understanding of it
but in that lesson it like said it
covered that of we would not taste death
you receive your salvation then we move
to the lesson we had of last week you
remember that dealt with Jar's daughter
and the woman with the we' like to say
the issue of blood as we know in that
lesson Jesus now was with a crowd of
people and as he's with this crowd this
ruler of the synagogue a man by the name
of jaras came along he had a daughter
who was 12 years old who they say was
laying she was dying and he came and
fell at jesus' feet and begged him to
come to his house to heal his daughter
cuz he had faith that Jesus could do
such a thing as this Jesus agrees to go
and as Jesus goes we know the crowds it
says thronged against and they pressed
against a massive crowd but also there
was a woman who had this Imaging problem
an issue of blood that she had it for
some 12 years now and she had spent all
that she had and she was no better off
but she knew Jesus was there and she had
enough faith and understanding know that
if I would just get to him he would heal
me but the issue was she couldn't get to
him there was such a crowd so some sort
of way she managed to get through the
crowd and maybe down on her knees or
whatever it was and she reached out and
she touched the him of His Garment and
it says at that moment she knew that she
was healed instantly but also at that
moment Jesus knew instantly that virtue
or power had gone from him that someone
had touched him and that when Jesus said
who touched me now keep in mind this
whole time Jesus know exactly who
touched him it was for purp you said who
touched me it says all of them denied
then his disciples said well how we
supposed to know master who touch you
when all these people all around you the
word then says that the woman knew she
could no longer be hid that's when she
came forth now see often times Jesus
would do a healing thing sometimes Jesus
would say tell what was done to you and
then sometimes Jesus would say don't
tell anybody what was done and there's
various reasons for that but because
this thing called time we going to skip
over that part at this morning
but you'll find that this woman now
comes forth and what she does is she
tells a story it says she tells of all
that she had been through all that she
had endured but she knew that she had
faith in Christ if she would just get to
him and touch him of garage she shall be
made healed or made whole and that's
when Christ says said to her daughter go
in peace and that was it Jesus didn't
publicize anything that he did it was by
This Woman's
testimony of what he did showing us day
that his deity his position that he was
God and God was him but as this happens
as we know some folks came back to tell
jaras bother the master no more because
your daughter has died and when he says
those words said Jesus heard those words
when he came forth and he turned to him
and said these words have no fear just
believe that all Jesus say have no fear
just believe that is a concept too that
we have to understand this thing called
Death because we all have lost loved
ones haven't we and sometimes well I
would say all times we grieve but yet we
have to also believe that the day will
come we shall see them later because
Jesus has power over what over death so
he tells the man just believe and it
says as they arrive at his home many
mourners and and people were there uh
some suppers even said they had the
professional mourners what I mean by the
professional MERS is that there were
times where they would hire people to
come to funerals to cry and and you know
how we do we want to jump in the casket
and all that kind of stuff but they're
paying them to do these type things and
I'm not going to say those folks were
there but some folks were there who
weren't Believers as you can see we go
forward because when Jesus arrives at
the house he goes into this room with
the parents he brings in Peter James and
John and as he enters into the room the
people are there wailing and crying and
so on and Jesus sees all this and he has
compassion for them and he says your
daughter's not dead she only sleeps well
guess what that's when the MERS stop
mourning and start laughing him they say
laugh him the scorn said this man is
crazy everybody know she's dead but then
Jesus in his meekness which is strength
under control sometime folks will say
outside of us that Christ was a weak man
you know too passive no he had strength
under control because you see here in
his meekness he didn't said to the
people that were there ACC to the
scriptures give me the room please he
didn't said to him could you excuse
yourselves as I come in to see this
young girl the word says He put them out
and we all know when somebody put you
out the house they're not asking you to
go they just put you out they said Jesus
put them out and upon putting them out
he put forth his hand he says ma rise up
and then it says that she rose up and he
says give her something to eat it said
but also there it said he said rose up
it said the Spirit came back into her
the significance of the spirit coming
back into her was let us know guess what
that she had died we talked about this
many times before do not do not do not
follow that concept when people tell you
soone so in the hospital and they died
three times on the table that is not the
case man cannot bring you back to life
man can resuscitate you man can revive
you in a certain amount of time but once
that Spirit leaves that body that is
truly death and if a doctor can bring
you back doctor has brought forth the
dead now back to life only one man was
capable of doing that and that was
Christ to restore the spirit back into
the body so she was truly dead but as
she rose up then Christ gave these words
folks tell no one what has happened here
and he leaves at
that the reason why is because Christ
never walked around told anybody he was
the Christ he wanted you to see it for
yourself and believe it in your heart
that he was who he basically initiated
that he was because you think about it
I'm quite sure everybody said she was
dead all these mornings are there Christ
leaves in a short of time you can see
that little girl coming out and playing
and having a good time and then what
people are going to say
then what she has done now for what she
is now for Christ is us she is what we
call a living
testimony Christ I don't have to tell
anybody anything you see it for yourself
make your own mind up in fact Christ
even gave these similar words you
remember when they had him in his mock
trial and they asked him many questions
and one of the scriptures he said these
words I don't have to tell you what I
did go see the people and they'll tell
you everything that I did other words he
by his witness other words you saw is
what it is that I done but it raised her
up but that was that lesson and now we
move to the lesson we have of the day of
that of raising of Lazarus a story that
we all know very well we all know the I
said the end results very well but what
we're going to concentrate upon is going
out is that of the very beginning and
the reason once again why we go to the
very beginning because that very first
verse says Jesus therefore again
groaning in
himself and when I read the lessons if I
see something like that I immediately
know look at the verse before this see
what has transpired to lead us to the
point that we are in and with this
lesson if you got to use your Bibles
today folks cuz your Sunday school book
start off at our lesson well I'm going
back before that uh for those who uh
weren't here for the introduction I
think dick and Jones you might have just
came in I was telling this week I
studied a lesson everything's laid out
ready to go but I studied the wrong
lesson lesson so I have to start from
scratch today but this is how I
formulate a lesson when you start off in
this lesson we talked about Lazar being
raised it says in verse one of John 11
these words now a certain man was sick
named Lazarus of Bethany the town of
Mary and her sister uh Martha it starts
off by bringing forth you see here
distinction of who we're talking about
it didn't say a man or a certain man
left at that they give you his exact
name and who is we're speaking of
because these stories are not uh fix
tious story they're basically truth
that's being brought forth and you want
you to know this man Lazarus someone who
Jesus knew knew very well Jesus knew his
sisters Martha and Mary extremely well
when you look through the scriptures
this is not the only time they have met
several times Jesus has been in the town
of Bethany and they have taken him in
and showed him Hospitality when you look
at Bethany uh just a little small side
note Bethany means a house of dates or
House of figs whenever you see the word
Beth you have to always put House of and
it relates to something of that nature
like Bethlehem is House of Bread but
here you find that in the town of
Bethany which is a distance but not that
great of a distance from that of
Jerusalem it says here the town of Mary
and her sister Mara verse two says it
was that Mary which anointed the Lord
with ointment and wiped his feet with
her hair whose brother Lazarus was sick
once again a previous time when Jesus
was at the house I know you remember
that story of how Jesus came in the
custom was to wash their feet with water
and so on to show Hospitality but she
used this ointment but it wasn't just
any kind of ointment if you remember it
said that this ointment by its value was
a year salary for most folks so it was
very expensive and as we know Judas es
scariot had some words to say about that
anybody remember what he said he said
wait a minute you got a problem here why
is she using a suspensive orament he
looked at him more of a Cas if she going
to P his feet why don't she give it to
us and we can sell it and make some
money off of it that's when Jesus told
him what she does she does for my burial
my death it will symbolizing the day
will come when he have to properly
prepare his body for that of being
buried but that was that time and then
it saids in verse three therefore his
sisters sent unto him saying Lord behold
he who thou lovest is sick so at this
point Lazarus is sick what is he sick of
it don't matter we don't know but
whatever it is it's Sick Enough where
they have to tell Jesus or send word to
have Jesus come to see them because see
they were believers they believed in
Jesus they know what he could do so
they're going to one now guess what who
can help them out we talked this last
week whenever you need help go to
someone or individuals that can help you
out that can do the most shall we say uh
benefit for your cause so they now sent
for Jesus and they even thow the one who
thou lovest
because Jesus did have compassion for
Lazarus Mary and that of Martha now
Jesus loved everybody right but some
people you have a special connection
with I know in this room you all have
ones you love right then there are some
that guess what you have a special bond
with you know some of them you can't say
it out loud because the other one might
get jealous in in the household but
there's a special bond you just have
sometimes have and Jesus had a special
bond with this group and he says that
the one whom thou lest is sick it said
when Jesus heard that
he said the sickness is not unto death
but for the glory of God that the Son of
God might be glorified thereby then it
says now Jesus loved Martha and her
sister and
Lazarus so what Jesus was saying there
was this he's sick but he's not going to
die but what's going on him is going to
show you his glory other that words of
that of he being God and God being him
in the order of that of the Trinity now
some would say well yes he did die but
Jesus speaking of that death now where
you're you're truly gone and you're
going to be in heaven he's not going to
die in that fashion he's not going to
see of the second death and so on from
there but Jesus said what has happened
to him it's going to show you who I am
and this need to be shown especially as
we can see later for his disciples so
when he says these words when he verse
six says when he had heard therefore
that he was sick he Abode two days still
in the same place where he was so what
we see there happening is Lazarus SI
right
Jesus gets word and what do Jesus
do yeah two more
days Kind of Love Is that I'm sick and
you going to wait around two more days
but Jesus already told him don't worry
about nothing he's not going to die
Jesus shall be on the scene and I'm also
show you here too
where some people said no I tell you I'm
change my mind on that I'm not going to
say I say this this is truth you know
sometimes we have interpretations where
we have our own interpretation and we
said well this is the way I see it but
this is one of the ones that I'm going
to say I'm right on this one and what I
mean by that is this people will say
that Lazarus died because it took Jesus
four days to get there you can see in
the scriptures they say it took them one
day to travel there to see Jesus right
to tell him that he was
sick then Jesus waited how many days two
days to go there but keep in mind that's
three days right but it also going to
take him a what a day to even get there
so they say four days have passed by
that is an inaccurate teaching and I'm
going to show you that shortly when this
comes up but as we go a little further
here it says now Jesus loved Martha and
her sister and Lazarus verse six says
when he had heard therefore that he was
sick he Abode two days still in the same
place where he was then after that saith
he to disciples let us go up into Judea
again Jesus had now waited around a
couple days and they said now let us go
up there can be an inherent danger when
someone's not doing well and someone
tells you they're not doing well and
what do we normally say sometimes I'm
guilty of it somebody tells you see y'
figure where I'm going somebody say
someone's not doing that good they say
oh yeah and they tell you about it and
what do we normally
do we that's a good one pray for them
but let me give you the idea let's say
if you going to see them
let me tell what I've been guilty of
somebody told me someone some so's not
doing well I said okay I'm going go by
them next day or
two they passed before I got there and
that always will stick with you that if
I only went some might see that well
this is somewhat the case of Man's eyes
today because when Jesus gets there as
we know he's already dead they they tell
him later if you had been here
he would not have died but nobody
catches Jesus word said don't worry
about this thing so he's not going to
die but he had to show them that they
have to also believe here it says where
I stop it uh verse 7 then after that he
said to his disciples let us go up let
us go into Judea again verse 8 say his
disciples say unto him Master the Jews
of late sought to Stone thee and goest
th thither again and Jesus answered
there are there not 12 hours in the day
if any man walk in the day he um
stumbleth not because he seeth the light
of the world but if a man walk in the
night he stumbleth because there is no
light in him these things said he and
after that he sath un them alred Lazarus
sleepeth but I go that I might awake him
out of
sleep Jesus
now speaking about going back to
Judea but there's an issue with going
back to Jud because you find that what
he speaks of here is going back back let
me see where I these things Lazarus
sleep then said the disciples Lord if he
sleep he shall do well in other words
Jesus now has a desire to go back to
J the issue with going back is Jesus had
just ran out of
Judea because they wanted to kill him he
laugh but now he sees what the work has
to continue so he said now I have to go
back cuz time is of the essence that
what he speaks so time just night and
day and 12 hours and day time is the
essence that I must go back and they
look at like wait a minute you just said
he's sleeping if he's taking a nap he
all right what you going back see him
for why would you want to go back and
risk your life for this but Jesus is all
about doing God's work is he not so he
continues on and then he says to the
disciples Lord if he sleep he shall do
well verse 13 says how be it Jesus spoke
of his death but they thought that he
had spoken of things of taken of rest in
sleep then said Jesus unto them plainly
he says what Lazarus is
dead plain and simple I want you to
understand Lazarus is dead course their
mindset may go back to wait a minute you
just said earlier he won't going to die
but Jesus not speaking of that death of
going to heaven but did Jesus also know
for him is he just sleeping he said
Lazarus is dead he says and I am glad
for your sakes that I was not there
y'all get that
point now he's dead and Jesus said I'm
glad for your s that you were not there
and that was for a purpose he
says um to the extent that you may
believe nevertheless let us go unto him
so Jesus said I'm glad I wasn't there
because if he was there he wouldn't have
died right but he need to show these men
once again who he is their faith need to
be built up and understand that Jesus
has power over death and Jesus waited
around for that very reason but as he
goes forth it says then said Thomas
which is called dius unto his fellow
disciples let us also go that we may die
with him and you know often times in you
I come to the defense of Thomas because
I have an concern you could see an issue
with the teaching of what we call
Thomas doubting Thomas isn't that ashame
we call him doubting
Thomas considering that everybody
doubted you remember all the disciples
doubted that Jesus had rolled from the
grave all of them said unless I see if
for myself then would I believe none of
them believe all doubted but guess what
then when Jesus appeared to them they
then believed but Thomas wasn't there
when Jesus came that first time so then
when Thomas came they said guess what we
saw Jesus and he said I'll see it when
my I believe it for myself when I see it
for myself and put my hands his side and
in his hands so then he said he's
doubting Thomas I said well guess what
you all were doubting why put that
stigma only upon him but here's one that
that may be uh Pastor back there Pastor
you might to pray the Lord that you can
preach on this one to lift up this one
this is a powerful statement that Thomas
make look what Thomas says then said
Thomas which is called dius unto his
fellow disciples let us also go that we
may die with
him powerful statement isn't it they
just ran for their lives about to be
stoned to death just a short while ago
and Thomas is the only one saying now
let us all go if he going to die we
going to die with him that shows you
power there in this man now as far as
that doubting goes all of them doubted
but here he shows he has the fortitude
to stand up for Christ but as we go
forth it says then when Jesus came he
found that he had laid in the grave four
days
already now you see why I'm going this
four days I talked about earlier right
people say he waited you know they came
to Jesus it took a day to get there then
Jesus waited two more days that's three
days then Jesus had to go there how many
days is that that's four days for him to
get there that's always been taught and
I've always looked at say no that is not
the case and how how do I know it's not
the case see somebody answer that
question how do I know I'm right on
this I study and guess what it's what
the scripture says let me tell you the
scripture says about this di haes told
me a long time ago said boy when you
stand before them people you better have
your scripture straight cuz therefore
they going to argue about something they
can't argue with you they must argue
with God because you have to use
scripture to support what is you're
saying so when people say it took four
days or or days travel to get there and
this why it took this much time it took
one day for The Messengers to get there
Jesus waited two days took Jesus another
to get there that's why he stayed there
four days in the grave because it took
their amount of time well the rest of
the scripture if you go on it says then
verse 17 then when Jesus came he found
that he had laid in the grave four days
already then it says now bethan House of
dates
was n un Jerusalem you know what nigh
means it means it's near Jerusalem about
15 furls
off well that is your information to
show you how far away it was now I'm not
give you the exact measurements because
the exact measurement depends on what
you're using it's kind of like somebody
said I'm using standard system and
another one say I'm using metric system
because the Romans had a measurement for
a
furlong and the Greeks had a measurement
for the forong but to make a long story
even shorter here I'm going to give you
this maximum distance okay the maximum
distance if you looking at 15 furlongs
is two
miles two miles two miles is not a long
way away two miles is not a couple days
journey to get there if you have one of
those Health watches or your telephone
you probably walk four or five miles
every day
yourself that is nowhere to go Tyler Run
marathons next month we go another
Marathon he runs he runs 27.8 miles
little 4
hours so you tell me 2 miles away
probably less really it took him that
long to get there no it was
near always follow this concept he's
dead now right that means the spirit has
done what left the body supplements
would tell you that in the nation of
Israel Jewish
culture typically you'll find that they
believe that the spirit when it left the
body would hover over the body for at
least three days so in three days time
that Spirit could go back into the body
and the person would live some something
would say this was probably cases of
maybe people were in slight of Comas and
things like that and people thought they
were dead and came back who knows how
that all came about but I look at it
that Jesus intentionally waited to go
back in four days cuz he wasn't heard he
said this man is sick he's dying you
said oh he's not going to die he stayed
there a couple more days and then when
this was all over he took his time even
getting there to the point that now he
has been in the grave it says 4 days
which means that he has died because
keep in mind we'll get you in a moment
they even said don't move that stone
because the body is decaying he was have
the stench of the decayed flesh so Jesus
showing you that this man truly has died
so when he goes forth he says um verse
18 again now Bethany was n unto
Jerusalem about 15 fur laes off and many
of the Jews came to Martha and Mary to
comfort them concerning their brother
then Martha as soon as she heard that
Jesus was coming went and met him but
Mary sat still in the house then said
Martha to Jesus Lord if thou had been
here my brother had not
died was she
right I think she's right because Jesus
already told the disciples I glad I
wasn't there so that you may believe in
what it is I'm about to do some says
Martha here she was mad at Christ that
he didn't come I don't think she's mad
at Christ I think she's somewhat
disappointed that he didn't arrive but
she knows her brother in a better place
because even with her Nick words she
gives comforting words by saying then
Mar said Lord if thou had been here my
brother had not died but I know that
even now don't say woman that's mad to
me even now whatsoever thou will ask of
God God will give it to thee so you see
here in her word she still has faith in
Christ and the things that he can do and
the things he can pull off
but she wish she had came there because
when we have loved ones do we want them
to
perish we don't want to believe us we
all will have that person going we'll
give those
prayers but in the end we have to put it
in whose hands God's hands I've been in
situations where I've been confronted
with that you have a loved one there
that's we said Knocking on Heaven's Door
and it's time to pray and I let the
family know starting out that we're
going to have a prayer but in the end we
put stay in God hands you know we know
our desire if them to stay with us but
not our will What whose will his will
and we have to understand that I told
you one of the most challenging times
I've was seen I give testimony before is
a good friend of mine came sick out of
nowhere she was in the hospital went to
go see her and you could see that she
was laboring the mother was there and
some of the family members and she was
breathing she would lift the chest up
off the bed and she would hold it then
she go back and she go and then I
remember at one point when she raised up
she and one of the cousins sitting by
her jumped up and all I saw was fear in
his eyes
afraid of what he was seeing there I
went over and I just rubbed on her hair
I was talking to her and when the nurse
came in they said what's going why she
doing that and nurse plainly told him
said well she's in her transition period
said she's going to do that and then
take a longer and longer breaths in
between to the point that she's going to
pass away
plain and simple they said we need
everybody to leave from we have to check
a few things so we went outside the room
and there was a minister there that I
know she said let's pray we all in the
hallways oh oh she gave a prayer she
gave a prayer that probably would raise
Lazar off I mean she prayed you never
lost a case all you know went through
that whole thing that she could be
walking at us AIS any day now all these
things nurse opened the door up her
mother stuck her head out there and said
Kenny come here I came in she put her
hands like this and grabbed my hands she
looking right and started crying she
said she gone she passed away now you
just have gave this powerful prayer that
you know she going to walk any minute
now you don't get those kind of prayers
your desire is that they would be with
you but you said Lord I understand and
that's the way you have to be with this
here these women know that their brother
has gone but they know by Jesus anything
is possible but it says but I know that
even now whatsoever thou will ask of God
God will give it thee then Jesus says
him thy brother shall rise again when he
gives those powerful words Martha said
to him I know that he shall rise again
in the resurrection at the last day so
it show you now he she has what she got
faith she understands that her brother
is gone but she knows the day going to
come where guess what he's going to rise
again but she's looking at that future
time Jesus about to show all of them
guess what the truth the way and the
life stands right before for you because
Jesus lets know that I am the
resurrection and for this cause he came
it says that Jesus said unto her I am
the resurrection and the life he that
believeth in me though he were dead yet
shall he live and whosoever liveth and
believeth me shall never die believeth
thou this other words he threw that
question at her she said unto him yay
Lord I believe that thou art the Christ
the son of God which should come into
the world and when she had so said she
went away and called Mary her sister
secretly saying the master has come and
call it for thee and as soon as she
heard that she arose quickly and came
unto him now Jesus was not yet coming to
the town but was in the place where
Martha met him the Jews then which were
with her in the house were and comforted
her when they saw Mary that she rose up
hastily and went out followed her saying
she go unto the grave to weep now so you
got these MERS now she going into the
grave let's follow us so they going out
there but she's going to see
Jesus then verse 22 then when Mary was
come down where Jesus was and saw him
she fell down at his feet saying unto
him Lord if thou has been here my
brother have not died same thing of
sister said they knew he had healing
power that if you had only been here we
sit word for you I ain't going to put
nothing that's not there but you took
your sweet time getting here then now he
has passed away and she gives these
words that that if he had been there and
then it says when Jesus therefore saw
her what weeping and the Jews also what
weeping which came with her he groaned
in the spirit and was troubled you
remember in this lesson before said
Jesus therefore again groan is leading
all up into into that part of the phrase
what do you mean groan is means he was
going through some
anguish he was going through some sorrow
himself he's look out and see all these
people just tore up they crying you know
they mourning their suffering that it
affects him cuz
Jesus you could say was man but he also
was fully God and he felt all things as
we fought just as somebody might a
family member we all feel a loss you
know might be not our immediate family
but in this church we all feel lost
because we all are in Christ family and
Jesus now groans in the spirit other
words it affects him the same way that
it affects them that it says he groan in
his spirit and said was troubled and
said
where have you laid him and they said to
Lord come and see and then it says
what J Hall's favorite scripture Jesus
wept if he was here he would laugh about
that because years ago we us have to
recite a verse in here and Jay always
get the quickest one Jesus wept that was
it and I tease him by that to this day
but you find here Jesus had compassion
that even he sheded tears CU remember
did he like Lazarus yes the word say he
loved Lazarus and now he has died now
Jesus know he going to raise him again
but what affects Jesus is how everybody
else is affected by what has happened so
then he says here then said the Jews
behold how he loved him and some of them
said could not this man which opened the
eyes of the blind have caused that even
this man should have not died Jesus
therefore in order of our lesson today
therefore again groaning in himself
cometh through the grave it was a cave
and a stone lay upon it so Jesus hears
these words once again you know that if
he had been to these things wouldn't
have happened now once again Jesus knows
he can raise them but it's just because
what everybody else is going through it
touches his heart that he has compassion
so that's Jesus says then well show me
where you laid him and that's when they
come to the cave now it seems to be that
Lazarus was a man that had some
substance you probably say some wealth
cuz keep in mind his sister had this
ointment that was a year salary correct
a year salary exactly
he's dying now it seems to be a large
amount of people well-known man have
come to the house but also he's in a
tomb in a cave that was considered very
expensive usually they would just bury
you but if they put you in a tomb you
had to have finances cuz usually that
part of the area was made out of
limestone and it would carve out a tomb
and it' be like almost like a family
plot where they would bury you all in
there and when he talks about a stone
being laid in front of it typically on
most cases there would be a round
opening to go in it was re recessed and
they would take a 2,000 lb Stone roll it
in front of of the door and let it fall
into it to seal it so no one could go in
or animals or nothing like that could
get in that was expensive but guess what
I don't care how much money you have oh
death G to come knocking it doesn't make
a difference what he had or who he knew
or what he obtained in life but now you
find that he has passed and Christ has
now come to lift him up and then it says
Jesus said take ye away the stone Martha
the sister of him that was dead said
unto him Lord by this time he stinketh
for he had been
dead four days see once again that's why
people get that concept took four days
to get there disregard that Jesus waited
for this opportune time so folks no one
can say no he really wasn't dead he was
just sleeping or he was in a coma or
something like gu no he was dead and
he's been in there four days you want to
remove this Stone back but Jesus says
remove it Jesus said unto
her said I not unto thee that if thou
would what believe thou should see the
glory of
God now keep in mind did he say he was
God in a way he did but he doesn't come
right out and just say it he let you see
it in your heart cuz guess what only God
could do something of his nature raise
him from the dead and he say you shall
see the glory of God then they took away
the Stone from the place where the dead
was laid and Jesus lifted up his eyes
and said father I thank thee that thou
has heard
[Music]
me what does Jesus do before he raise
him up he has prayer because all prayer
is your communication with God and he
giving God the glory and by glorifying
God God does what glorify him in the
order of the Trinity so he now prays to
the father in front of all people he
doesn't say look at what I've done you
remember remember Moses got in trouble
for that he and earn they said Look What
I've Done by bringing you water from a
rock wait a minute you don't want take
this honor upon yourself you should have
said look what God has done
but here you'll find Jesus said unto
them uh I'm sorry verse 41 then they
took away the Stone from the place where
the dead was laid and Jesus lifted up
his eyes and said father I thank thee
that thou has heard me and I knew that
thou hearest me always but because of
the people which stand by I said it that
they may believe that thou has sent
me he wanted them to understand that God
is sent him he this why I'm saying this
other words he gave that audible prayer
that everybody can hear what he was
saying and he said reason why I'm saying
it this way so they can understand that
I'm talking to
you and then he says and when he had
thus spoken he cried with a loud voice
Lazarus come
forth he cried now with a loud voice
Lazar you know you know Jesus didn't
really have to go there to heal him if
he wanted
to I don't know if you remember um there
was another uh
Centurion who had a servant you remember
was sick and and give you the short
story of that that children was sick and
Jesus was going to his house and he said
no no no no I'm not worth you to come to
my house he said I am a centurion other
words he was commander he said I tell
men come they come I tell them go they
go just by my word they take action he
said I know right now if you just say it
he shall be healed and Jesus said thy
servant has been healed go thy way it
says the man go back home get next day
and he finds the man doing well and he
said when was he doing well when was he
healed they say oh about the seventh
hour yesterday and script said that was
the same time in which he talked to
Jesus so Jesus really didn't have to go
there but in this case he goes that the
glory of God may be manifest and they
may see that he is God himself by
raising him up in verse 44 if you close
I said and he that was dead came forth
bound head and foot with grave clothes
and his face was bound about with a
napkin and Jesus said unto them loose
him and let him
go powerful statement isn't it show that
he had power over death all those there
who were witnessing all those who follow
along knew that he was in that cave
wrapped in the uh burial cloths but yet
he came forth as a mummy and Jesus said
loose
him and we even know with Lazar to
continue to stir a little bit word went
forth that he had rose from the dead and
you know what the religious order people
said the religious order of the
Pharisees and the scribes they said this
man do these Works they going call
trouble the Roman is going to come upon
us we have to kill him but then they
said this not only kill him we got to
kill Lazar
too oh I could talk about that but our
time is done folks but that's how I
study a lesson initially then now if I
do that all week long I'm breaking down
to every single scripture every word
every background information that goes
along so I didn't teach it the way I
want to teach it but guess what it is
what it is and that's what you got today
in order of his lesson but our lesson
for next week deals with let me get this
one right it deals with the
crucifixion of Jesus the crucifixion
itself what we will be discussing I
would say read those scriptures of the
order of Luke because we have some deep
discussion about that but once again
it's another lesson that shows that
Jesus had power what over death and the
reason why he shown he had power over
deaths is the give for confirmation that
he is God and God is Jesus and in order
of the Trinity they work together as one
because as Jesus said he thought it not
robbery to call himself lesser than
God oh I'm sorry I get the wrong word
glad somebody was listening there Jesus
said th not Rob and call equal to God if
you're equal to someone they're not
above you they're not below you it's
like I heard this man say um on TV a
little while ago uh he was talking about
his father he says best advice his
father ever gave him I'm going give you
just just a phrase not the stir he said
the father said when you go out in this
world don't ever think you are better
than anybody
else but he said then his father came
back and said always know this nobody in
this world is better than you either he
said so it goes both ways in all the
Trinity that's how the Trinity is viewed
they are in unity one with another like
I said it can't be a baffling concept
but you have to AC it on faith because
that's what the Bible speaks of it's all
about the faith of the Triune of the god
known as the Trinity itself so with
those words being said uh di Bush if you
will uh give us a closing word of prayer
as we come into our worship
