multiple different kinds of footage of
World War II and I've also studied
American and world history in
college recently uh marked the 80th
anniversary of the D-Day invasion um on

the history and the background
surrounding Operation Overlord the
actual battle that took place on the
beach head in France to include the
units that were involved as well as the
casualties that took place and a little
bit of today's history involving the the
commencement ceremonies and the
commemorations uh involved in Normandy
France today and this
year to begin we'll talk about a little
bit of the history and background
involving the Allied invasion um in 1939
the Germans initially invaded
surrounding countries to gain a foothold
throughout Europe to increase its power
um to you know expand its Outreach and
that included France
um in June of 1944 General Eisenhower
developed a plan along with the other
Allied Powers involved in World War II
to gain a foothold into France and
hopefully in the War sooner than later
um as the war had been dragged on for
about five years on the morning of June
6 1944 early in the morning 160,000
troops from the Americas Canada Britain
and France made a landing onto the Nazi
occupied beaches of Normandy
France the Americans and the other
Allied Powers were met with heavy
resistance from the Germans that were
entrenched along the cliffs and beaches
of Normandy encountering roughly 10,000
lost lives during the
attack over
13,000 American and Allied airplanes
were involved in the initial Invasion
and also 5,000 seagoing craft were also
involved in the
attack so far we've spoken about a
little bit of the history and background
involved in Operation Overlord as well
as the actual units that took place uh
and the amount of troops and Manpower
that were involved in the attack and now

invaded against the

battlefields and view those different
things as the events take place and I
believe they also have reenactments that
take place for The

during the attack as well as the
casualties that the Allies faced as well
as current events that happen today um
at the commencement of the commemoration
ceremonies involved in D-Day and what
