that's right folks playground version

2.5 is here and today I want to walk you

through a few things regarding this

model if you recall back in December we

released the version 2 this is an

upgrade from that model and to be really

honest it feels like a totally different

model now for those of you that don't

know this is a base model just like sdxl

it's not a fine tune but it is built on

the same architecture a few things to

highlight with this model there's been a

drastic improvement over V2 with the

overall dynamic range you're going to

find richer colors saturation deeper

blacks better contrast another area of

focus was multi-aspect ratios with

version two you were somewhat limited to

one by one you could get away with other

ones depending on the context but now

with version 2.5 you can do wide shots

tall shots typical portrait and

landscape aspect ratios and there really

is no bias to one size and the third

thing is the overall Aesthetics now the

team was mainly focusing on photo

realism which is true in many cases but

the more I use this model the more I see

it's got its own unique artistic style

it's got its own Vibe and swag if I may

say now let me show you some practical

examples I'm going to go over the

settings really quickly because it is

slightly different from using sdxl

obviously you want to go under model and

make sure you choose version 2.5 I'm

going to stay with 1024x 1024 you can

use any size you want now what's

different about how this model is set up

there's only speed and quality settings

we have it set up in the background to

give you the most optimal results where

you could just focus on prompting and

creating your images and to be very

honest the fast option here is more than

enough for most cases other than that

that's all have to do for your settings

let's take a look at how we're going to

prompt using version 2.5 now in my

opinion this model is perfect for the

new beginner and what I mean by that is

that I can type in this prompt here very

simple oven baked pizza on a wooden

table in a rustic restaurant we're going

to go ahead and click generate let me

close this area here and you'll see with

this very simple prompt that I got

exactly what I wanted it looks very full

photo realistic and it's actually making

me super hungry right now now let's try

another one Pixar style cute adorable

baby dragon a top of mountain and here

are the images that were generated very

cute very adorable all with the simple

prompts let's take one more simple

prompt here cinematic photo of a Porsche

911 city streets at night looks really

photo realistic great details let's open

this one up and take a look very deep

color and contrast all from a simple

prompt now the reason why I'm showing

you this using simple prompts is that

you don't necessarily have to add a

paragraph of words to achieve the

results you want now when you get

familiar with the model you want to be

more creative with it absolutely

especially for those of you that are

more advanced in your prompting however

I'm finding that the typical modifier

words like high detail 8K 4K all those

things they're not necessary in most

cases now here's a prompt from one of

our users Bella on our Discord server

she's also on our beta team and this

image is based on macro photography of a

magical flower let's take a look at the

generated images very beautiful colorful

love the details in all of this and if

we open one of these up you see that the

details are very fine again the color in

contrast is just Second To None now

earlier I said that this model has its

own unique artistic style and we have

sdxl on the right here playground v2.5

on the left I'm using the same seed for

both images and I think it's clear how

much more style playground v2.5 has not

to say that sdxl looks bad it looks

great it looks like your typical 2D

comic art style whereas playground v2.5

just has a little bit of edge to it you

know and even side by side with

playground V2 if you look at V2 it's

like a that's cute but version 2.5 has

some attitude to it now sometimes you're

just not going to get the results that

you're expecting and often times you

come up with an image where you really

like the composition the details all

that stuff but sometimes it's a little

lacking just like this image of a ice

queen it's an old prompt that I often

use for testing models and you can see

the eyes they're okay there's something

funky going on with the mouth there and

normally I would direct you to Canvas do

some in painting fix that right up or

crop the face do an image to image at a

bigger size that works too however now

you don't have to do all that we

recently shipped a feature called

creative upscale if you hover over the

image you're going to see this icon here

it says creative upscale or you can

access it in your actions menu you'll

notice there are are now two options

creative and subtle subtle is the

previous version where you just want

basically to upscale your image to a

bigger size what makes creative upscale

different is that it can add some

details to an image that's not so

perfect so if we look at the before and

after here once again look at the eyes

look at the mouth and then after the

creative upscale it has improved those

details quite a bit not only is it great

at restoring detail it can also enhance

your image even more if we look at this

alien landscape I have here and we've

got our astronaut floating look at all

the little details that come to life as

we do before and after especially in the

alien vegetation or whatever these are

you can see those details become sharper

more defined even the background here

overall it gives your image just a

little more punch and a little more

definition in the smaller detail

now you do have to be careful in some

context it might be a little too much in

this case it works really well if you

look at the details in the feathers the

texture of the skin around the mouth and

the nose those details really pop out

really well now I've had occasions where

the face came out too detailed maybe the

wrinkles are overdone or the definition

is too strong so in those cases I would

just use the subtle upscale now
