The discussion also touches on the importance of holiness, as stated in Hebrews 12:14, and the idea that God's grace is the sole means of salvation, not human works or merit. The panelists use the parable to illustrate the importance of accepting God's provision and the consequences of rejecting it.

pastor of another level in Mount
Washington gentlemen always a privilege
to be able to just dissect the Word of
God and to be in his presence and to
have this wonderful meaning revealed to
us our question for this segment is what
exactly is the wedding garment that is
mentioned in Matthew 22 11 and 12 or
what does it symbolize well you know as
I was you know doing some research and
you know the King had invited you know
people to the wedding and from what I
was reading that the King actually
provided the garments that they were
supposed to wear and and so you know
he's expecting everybody to show up you
know and what he the garment he provided
and this guy shows up you know in his
own duds so to speak and so you know as
we relate that in the spiritual realm
you know I believe it relates to
salvation and that you know God has
provided a salvation you know and he
wants us to show up dressed in his
righteousness but a lot of people are
trying to come in their own clothes and
there's gonna be somebody standing at
the door say you can't get in is
righteousness and and the fact is we are
the righteousness of Christ therefore
this man had no excuse he was adequately
prepared with the proper garment he
refused to wear that garment and as you
said he came in his own style and God
said no way so the idea is are as a
place that our our garment is
righteousness how often do people in our
culture today do that they think that
they can come to God based on their
goodness based on their their position
in society of course God will will
receive me and
Hebrews 12:14 I'll take a slightly
different way is that it says that
without holiness it says holiness
without which no man shall see the Lord
Hebrews 12:14 and God has already
provided away and everybody wants to do
things their own way we've talked about
this in another segment where where our
culture is saying there's no absolute
truth then there's this that in the
other and once they get to God in their
own way and God saying no that that
doesn't work well you've got to do is
you've got to do things my way I
provided a way for you to become holy
you can't do it in your own my son died
on the cross for you and now if you
accept that then you're welcome to the
wedding feast it's such a powerful pass
subscription man he's 22 there's so much
involved in and one of the things I
think is really neat that everyone was
invited everyone was prepared for
everyone was given the opportunity to
receive what they needed and I love the
fact that when the time was right they
all had to come to the door jesus said
that I'm the door and the only problem
is is that the apparel that you have you
know we talked about this before too
about well what if I have a fight with
my wife and then I get my car do I die
and so now what we don't we've turned
salvation into conduct rather than
character right so your go to heaven not
based upon your conduct your works but a
based upon your nature or your character
who you are Christ and so I believe that
that wedding garment is symbolic of who
we have become by receiving Christ Jesus
our righteousness now within him and
these people that showed up in knew who
I know who said his duds that was
somebody that's why I said bind them
throw them away he said friend how did
you come in here without a wedding
garment he was speechless
why because everything was completely
provided how dare you show up and say I
can just come as you said any old way
and God will accept me when it's all
been provided for and it was an insult
and so we said to them at the door she
said I'm the door no man cometh in at
the door says depart he said bind him
hand and foot and throw him into outer
darkness and there will be weeping and
gnashing do you like dr. Eva Hill you
know he was talking about a guy that was
leaving another church and he was coming
to join his church and Eva Hill told him
well you know because he he thought he
should stay where he was that he said
well you you can't get in here and the
guy said well is there anybody else I
can talk to and he said no if I say you
can't
right and that's this guy he shows up
and he says was anybody else I can talk
to if I say you can't get in you know
you can't get in and it's sadness of it
all is that the way was provided yeah
it's you know we try to figure things
out on our own and the sadness is God's
already provided it it's like you know
people who see people all the time who
say oh I just if I could just get God to
love me if I could just get God to
forgive me he's already loves you
he's already forgiven you just receive
it just receive it stop fighting it and
just receive it like he's already
supplied the garment they they it's like
the preacher that preaches on this
station at 6:30 in the morning les is
his name grace plus nothing nothing
grace plus if we can get that in your
heart grace plus nothing it's all him
yes you know you think about Noah we
were talking about that earlier and at
one segment and we talked about how that
whole thing about repentance and God's
heart was grieved and I look at this
here and how he made the whole provision
for them and it said how they made light
of it and went on their way you know I
think about how much grieved the heart
of God to the gospel to go out every day
people are hearing it and he's preparing
the wedding and he's gotten I couldn't
imagine showing up to there knowing I
have an invite mm-hmm had everything
given to me but can't come in call you
because of that because they made light
of it went their way and just went to
their own business and then tried to
show up anyway may God reach every
person and bring them in in Jesus name
thank you God thank you God well I spent
the first 20 years of my life believing
that I could be good enough and that I
could work hard enough because I'd
achieved other things and and it was
because of hard work and I translated
that into my theology and I was a good
moral young man in a very turbulent time
I was a good moral young man I didn't
drink I didn't smoke I didn't shoot a
backhoe I didn't take drugs that wasn't
a womanizer and I didn't hang around
with people who did but praise be to God
the truth of Ephesians 2:8 and 9 for by
grace have you been saved through faith
and that not of yourselves it is the
gift of God
not of works lest any man should boast
has been a blessing to me now for the
last 44 years and God has just been
using this lately or I should say I'm
realizing that God is using that not
only as my salvation verse but now is my
sustaining verse that every one of these
blessings that bring God is bringing
into your life is the gift of God and
not of works lest any man should boast
gentlemen thank you for being with us on
