Transcripts
I just bought 10 of the lightest weight
International carryon roller bags on the
market with the lightest weighing an
astonishing 3.9 LB why does this matter
well International Airlines and a
growing number of domestic Airlines take
carry on weight very seriously we've got
both hard-sided and softsided Luggage
here and each of them is international
carryon size compliant I'll put those
measurements on the screen in both
Inches and centimet they've all got
spinner Wheels telescoping handles and
some level of warranty to back them up
by the way this video isn't sponsored
and I spent my own money to purchase all
of these bags these companies do not
know I'm making this video and I have
spent days getting to know everything
about these bags measuring weighing
packing rolling you name it my mission
here is to help you make an informed
decision and not waste your money on a
crappy piece of luggage so today we're
on the lookout for the best value bags
the best bang for your buck bag if you
will the best hard-sided bag the best
softsided bag and the best overall and
then of course along the way I'm going
to tell you the bags you should
absolutely not waste your money on
speaking of which let's kick out some
losers right off the bat first up is the
brics travel 21in carry-on spinner this
bag came highly recommended and it's
only 52 lb but at
$235 it's one of the most expensive bags
on this list and I just cannot find
features that justify that price working
with it in person it just feels flim YY
the telescoping handle is rickety and in
my opinion it's kind of ugly loser
number two the aerrow light honestly I
was hyped about this company when I
found it online their site organizes the
bags by which airline they would fit on
and at only $65 I was thinking wow I
found a great bank for your buck bag
however this bag may have the worst
Wheels I have ever rolled in my life not
just in this video in my life it was
virtually unroll if you're in the UK you
may want to check out their two wield
aolite on their website that could solve
this problem I wanted to grab that bag
for this video but I couldn't get my
hands on one cuz I'm in the USA loser
number three this is the Lucas Ultra
lightweight carryon despite having a
nice ergonomic grip and a pretty smooth
roll I'm dropping this one because it's
heavier and more expensive than its
identical twin brother which I'll get to
in a second moving on to some actual
contenders here's the Luca cabin in
Black by IT luggage weighing just over 5
lb and fting just within the
international size guidance this No
Frills bag boasts an interior capacity
of 44 L and the lowest price on our list
today at just
$63 it's available in four colors has a
TSA approved combo lock and is
constructed from pet single-use plastic
bottles all in all nothing is amazing
about this bag but it's super
lightweight super affordable and it gets
the job done next one of the only two
bags on this list to feature a laptop
pocket the verage EXT I honestly wasn't
expecting much from this bag but it
surprised me at a palatable price point
of $140 this is the least expensive
hard-sided bag on today's list and it
weighs only 6 lb and easily meets
International carryon requirements it
rolls decently and the telescoping
handle has four stops which is more than
average the top handle is nice and
unfortunately this bag doesn't have a
side handle actually most of the bags on
this list don't the front pocket which
is not super common in hard-sided bags
features a built-in laptop sleeve and
internal pockets for organ ization which
is nice the front pocket has locking
zippers and so does the main compartment
but here's a really strange feature you
got to unzip the expansion zipper to
reveal a second set of zippers that
actually unzip the main compartment it's
not bad it's just kind of zipper
Overkill moving to the interior nothing
too crazy you've got one side with
standard compression and the other with
an enclosed pocket that's almost
unusable because of the laptop sleeve
pretty common in hard-sided bags with
laptop Pockets that pocket eats into the
internal capacity I will say
aesthetically this bag is much better in
person than it was online I almost
didn't buy it comes in champagne and
dark gray if you're a hard-sided luggage
person and you need a laptop sleeve but
weight isn't as big of a deal I would
probably check out the monos carryon Pro
or the level eight cases Road Runner
which are both a bit heavier but much
higher quality in my opinion but if
weight is a factor and you do need a
laptop pocket keep watching because I've
got a good one for you now this at this
point in the video one thing you may
notice so far is that we haven't touched
any bigname luggage Brands and that's
because most of the big names aren't
touching this category monos Samsonite
Briggs and Riley level eight cases delce
Tumi the list goes on and on none of
these guys had bags that you would
consider Ultra lightweight except for
Samsonite they had one only available in
Australia that I couldn't get all of
them are striking in that 7 lb and above
range now let's take a look at a couple
of bags from one of the biggest names in
carry on lugg Travel Pro this is the
travel Pro Max light 5 this bag is a
Marvel of lightness and functionality
wrapped into one it weighs 5 lb on the
dot and it's priced at just
$170 with Dimensions within domestic and
international carry-on restrictions from
the get-go the maxlite 5 impresses with
its solid yet manageable telescoping
handle with travel pros patented Contour
grip the 360Β° spinner Wheels Glide
smoothly across the floor making
navigation a breef
the bag's front pocket is sized
appropriately for a laptop and I like
that the quick access pocket is a bit
more concealed it doesn't scream hey my
headphones are in here like many other
softsided bags with top pockets might
inside the max light 5 shines with a
basic but thoughtful layout the 38 l
Main compartment has compression straps
to secure your clothing and a small mesh
pocket for those miscellaneous items
that often get lost in the shuffle if
you need expansion this design is
tapered and it keeps the center of
gravity low to help reduce tipping while
providing up to 2 in of additional
packing capacity my only beef with this
bag is the side handle I'm glad it has
one because not every bag on this list
does but the positioning of the handle
runs perpendicular to the bag if I were
carrying the bag by my side personally I
prefer a neutral grip but this handle
makes it so you've got to be either
pronated or super either which might be
fine for curls but not for luggage it's
a small thing the max light 5 is
available in five colors has over 10,000
positive reviews on Amazon and I think
is a very solid choice for someone
looking to travel light without
sacrificing functionality or style
staying within the Travel Pro family
let's meet our next lightweight
hard-sided bag this is the travel Pro
Max light air a sleek and modern
contender in the world of lightweight
luggage dang this might be the best
looking Travel Pro that I've ever seen
but this bag isn't just looks it's built
to last sized right for international
carry and weighing in at 5.7 lb it's a
bit heavier than the max light 5 the
100% polycarbonate exterior is designed
to flex rather than fracture on impact
and the textured finish conceals
scratches and scuffs this bag has eight
spinner wheels that provide an
exceptionally smooth 360Β° rotation
making airport navigation effortless the
extendable handle is more stable than
most with minimal side to side Shake
although I do wish it offered more than
just two height stops for better
customization it's got a top and side
handle and while this is very nitpicky
one thing I don't love is that the
placement of the top handle makes the
bag lean heavily when you pick it up the
bag has expansion zippers and TSA
locking zippers for the main compartment
the bag's clamshell style opening
doesn't open 50/50 I'd call it more like
60/40 which is a bit strange and it
could affect how you pack inside you've
got practical organization with two
zippered interior dividers and an
accessory pocket to keep your items
neatly arranged this bag comes in five
colors and has generally good reviews
although Amazon pointed out it's a
frequently returned item the most noted
features are frustrations about the top
and side handles being hard to get your
hands under next up is the Hershel
Heritage hard shell carry-on known for
quality and practicality hersel bags are
designed to be both functional and
fashionable the aesthetic of this bag
was the first thing that stood out to me
with that iconic herel diamond and the
gigantic Hershel logo honestly guys I
like the look of this bag in person but
that logo is massive bags are about more
than Aesthetics of course course and
this one didn't disappoint first the
specs 19 1/4 by 12 1/2 by 8 1/2 it's
sized right and at 6.1 lb still light
enough to be considered lightweight it's
made from 70% recycled polycarbonate and
I like the telescoping handle it's one
of the sturdier feeling ones in today's
video it's the only bag on this list to
feature hoto wheels for that whisper
quiet Glide it's got locking zippers
which lead to the bag's 35 L interior
inside the bag one side is completely
open with compression straps and the
other side has a mesh divider leading to
a deep pocket all in all this is a good
quality bag and I really like it it kind
of feels like a less featur Rich monos
it's definitely lightweight and it
certainly appeals to someone looking for
a particular aesthetic however in
regards to this list at $225 I do think
you have better lightweight luggage
options next I'm going to show you the
lightest bag on today's list this is the
July carryon light this bag weighs in at
a feather light 3.9 lb and in fact is
the lightest double wheeled suitcase in
the world it's also definitely the
thinnest we're reviewing today with a
depth of less than 7 in this bag truly
impresses with its Sleek modern
Aesthetics and the shell is made of an
aerospace grade German polycarbonate the
telescoping handle on this bag is one of
the best I've encountered in terms of
stability and it features three stops
for adjustable height and gly bag
telescoping handles are normally a bit
wide sometimes too wide for the pass
through on a personal item bag so I I
love that the telescoping handle on this
is more of a standard 6-in measurement
it's the little things the silent move
wheels are Ultra smooth the YKK zippers
feel much higher quality than many we've
handled in today's video and they
include TSA approved locks the interior
is straightforward yet functional with a
light and stretchy but durable mesh
however this is where that minimal depth
could really limit what you can pack I
was barely able to fit my shoes in here
maybe if you're packing sandals or flats
or something like that it's no problem
but if you find yourself needing just a
bit more room there's a solution that
keeps all the perks of the July carry-on
light with just a touch more space the
July carryon light expandable this
version Builds on the solid foundation
of the non-expandable model maintaining
all those strong points but with an
extra inch of depth and a few more lers
of packing volume it's a pound heavier
but it still comes in at less than 5 lb
and it's got an expansion feature if
needed taking the bag's potential pack
capacity to 40 L the mesh in the divider
areas gets a slight upgrade and it's
much roomier to pack even if you're not
using the expansion feature both of
these cases look stunning and they each
come in six striking color waves you
know after having all of the bags in
today's video in person some of them
surprised me compared to their online
photos and I know Aesthetics are
subjective and I know Aesthetics aren't
everything but I took a few of the more
attractive looking bags and I asked you
all which one you thought looked coolest
and you guys gave it to the July carryon
light expandable I think I'd have to
agree these bags are priced at $245 and
$265 respectively and come with a
lifetime warranty plus a 100 day return
window there was one super lightweight
bag I chose not to include in this video
the rooa essential light main reason
being it's over $700 I'm going to be
honest with you you have better options
for way less well if your goal is
lightweight and lowest price I've got to
give it to the Luca by IT luggage
nothing special No Frills but at just
over $60 it's a steal and it's going to
get the job done as for the best
lightweight hard-sided suitcase on this
list I've got to give it to the July
carry-on light expandable it's sized
perfectly for international travel
weighs less than 5 lbs fits everything
you need and it comes with all the great
features that July bags normally come
with like a lifetime warranty 100 day
money back guarantee free shipping Etc
the best lightweight soft-sided bag by a
landslide goes to the Travel Pro Max
light 5 compact carry-on spinner pound
for pound see what I did there this bag
crushes it it's sized perfectly it's 5
lbs on the dot amazing internal capacity
and about as stylish as a soft-sided bag
can get and wrapping all of that in a
price of only
$170 to me it's the perfect mixture of
features and price and that's why the
Travel Pro Max light 5 is my number one
pick for best lightweight carryon
spinner overall there's a lot of great
options on this list I know some things
are a matter of preference like hard
side soft side Aesthetics are subjective
but there had to be a winner and there
can only be one and hey really quick I
put a ton of work into this review hours
of research and we spent our own money
on all these bags if you decide to
purchase any of these pieces of luggage
as a result of this review please
consider using the links below as I said
the companies have no idea we made this
video but if you purchase through those
links we make a small commission at no
additional cost to you thank you so much
for watching and and I really hope this
was helpful to you happy travels
