from college with a finance degree so
I've been working at the same company
actually ever since 2019 but I've since
moved positions I used to work in
Consulting externally and now I work
internally in market research or growth
intelligence is like the name of my team
and I love it and I've been working
full-time corporate ever since then and
I just want to say a big disclaimer that
I'm definitely in no way like a I don't
have any universal tips or anything that
I feel like every single person will
live by these are really just tips that

full-time job and I really hope that at

maybe not me and vice versa so I hope
that the comments section is very nice
and encouraging for everybody and let's
just go ahead and get started also a
mini plug for myself I do have a work to
live series on my YouTube channel a lot
of my content is based off of how I've
been in able to maintain a balance of my
personal life physical health mental
health relationships life everything
outside of my full-time nine-to-five job
even YouTube so I hope you guys check
out that series that's like my Vlog
series and I just love it so much
because I feel like I try my best to
show you guys how I've been able to
manage prioritizing myself while also
working full-time and having a
professional career but also just
growing as a person at the same time and
trying to be as well balanced and
well-rounded as possible so check out
that series and let's start with tip
number one okay tip number one and I
mentioned this in my day in the life
working at an accounting firm you have
to prioritize your routine and I know
that that sounds silly and I'm sure you
probably know this if you're watching
but I just remember when I graduated
from college I felt like I did not
prioritize routine at all because I just
knew I was making a lot of money I was
independent for the first time living on
my own outside of my parents house and I
just felt so much Freedom that I was
like routine like doesn't exist I just
want to enjoy being an adult a part of
me doesn't regret that maybe like 10 but
honestly if I prioritized routine and
like my well-being during the time that
I was adjusting to working full-time I
feel like I would just be a lot more
well-rounded a lot less stressed and
just a lot more happy I feel like I was
feeling so overwhelmed during that time
adjusting to my nine to five because I
just did not have any type of routine at
all all I knew was that I had to go to
work from nine to five maybe even longer
Monday through Friday and then outside
of that I just felt like the world was
my oyster and I think it was one of
those like ignorances Bliss kind of
thing I was just happy to be just living
like an adult life but I think that if I
prioritized a routine like who am I
before work I go through my work day and
then what does my life look like outside
of work after work I feel like that
would have really helped me adjust a lot
more I don't know where I read this or
maybe this is just something that I
think all the time but I really feel
like routine in the end creates
structure in your life and when you have
structure in your life and you have the
comfort of knowing what your routine is
then that really mentally allows you the
time and the capacity and the bandwidth
and the energy to be more creative and
so I feel like honestly I was able to
start my YouTube channel in 2020 one
year after I started working full-time
yes because of the pandemic but also
because I felt like I was just in a
really good place of my life with my
routines and being well-rounded and just
kind of balancing everything all on its
own that I was able to be creative and
pursue my passions and even Define what
they were power of routine I think is so
amazing I don't mean that you have to be
a robot every single day and do the same
exact thing from nine to five seven to
nine like whatever times just giving
yourself some sort of structure
routinely will allow you to be more
creative to be more comfortable and to
just be more happy I think so that's my
first tip second tip this kind of
relates to routine but prioritize
movement and exercise and I'm really not
kidding you guys I already think that
I'm a pretty active person I like to
work out a lot I like to go to gym I've
tried all the different workout classes
and everything and I feel like I did my
best to try to maintain like a healthy
relationship with exercise and movement
when I was working full time starting
out for anybody that maybe doesn't love
working out just prioritize some sort of
movement at some point in your routine
walking yoga or lifting and running or
going to workout classes and stuff I
feel like you just have to prioritize
movement throughout your work week
personally like to work out in the
mornings Because by the time the end of
the day comes I just want to sit on my
couch eat dinner talk to people and then
go to sleep because you will feel so
mentally exhausted it's surprising you
guys how exhausted you can feel working
at a desk working an office job nine to
five is so freaking exhausting so for me
prioritizing my health really meant that
I was incorporating my exercise in the
morning before work but I would
encourage you guys to just like figure
out what works best for you and where
you can prioritize movement it doesn't
have to be anything hard but when you're
sitting down for so much of your day and
of your week and you realize how
sedentary you are you will want to move
I promise and it just like will be so
much better for your mental health too
if you do prioritize movement if you
don't know when would be best for you to
work out during your nine to five work
week I would really just try to ask
yourself in your last week when does
your exhaustion hit like does your
exhaustion hit at the end of the day
like it does for me or are you just so
physically unable to get out of bed
because either you go to bed late or you
just you're not a morning person either
one or do you really like having a
midday workout break I don't like doing
that just because I feel like it
prolongs my actual work day but those
are just some options for you guys to
get your brains rolling on when your
exhaustion hits work around that don't
work out when you know you're going to
be tired work out when you know that you
have the energy and for me that's just
in the morning so that's my second tip
prioritize routine but also really
really prioritize movement tip number
three find a hobby that allows you to
set a boundary with your log off time
and I don't mean every single day I
think eventually once you've been
working for maybe like a year or so then
you'll know what will log you off at a
normal time every single day but when
you're just starting out and adjusting
to your nine to five life I think it's
easy to work really late all the time
because you're trying to make a good
impression and in the end I don't really
think it makes that much of a difference
if you log off at five versus six unless
it's just a true expectation of your
team and that's something that you
should communicate with with your team
it should be very clear like what your
hours are supposed to be and what is
expected of you so clear communication
with your team is also really helpful
but prioritizing some sort of hobby that
will log you off at a normal time I have
a friend at work that is a part of a
golf league and she logs off at five
every single Tuesday and it's on her
work calendar her director ports know
and I think that anyone that you report
to will want you to have a healthy
work-life balance especially when you're
starting out your full-time job for the
first time so just having something even
if it's just once a week to remind you
to log off at 5 or 5 30 whatever time it
is a normal time for yourself so that
you can go do something for your life
outside of work after your job because I
remember that for me I feel like all I
did after my nine to five like my like
my hobby after work was to go see my
friends and like have dinner and I don't
think there's anything wrong with that I
just think that it was like also
exhausting and expensive and I wasn't
eating healthy and all these things so I
wish I just had someone give me a piece
of advice and say okay prioritize your
health also prioritize a hobby doesn't
it doesn't have to be eating but just
finding something that fills your cup
outside of work maybe you sign up for
Orange Theory like I have it and you go
to a 5 30 PM class every single Tuesday
because that's what will help you log
off at a normal time since I don't like
working out after work I'll just go on a
walk or I'll go to a farmer's market
that I know is in the area that I live
in every Wednesday and that will help me
log off at a normal time every single
week so just finding some sort of hobby
something that interests you outside of
your job if you like your job which I
hope you do if it's not YouTube I also
really enjoy running I also really enjoy
exercising and I also really enjoy
reading right now and that's like the
beauty of I think working corporate like
once you're off you're off and so when
you are off what do you want to do and
like what skills do you want to learn or
in what ways do you want to grow or was
something that you want to try maybe
it's Pottery like feel like it sounds
silly to be like find a hobby but also I
think that something that I really try
to live by is knowing that my nine to
five is really just a means for my life
it's not an end it's really just a means
my nine to five just gives me money
every two weeks and it allows me to work
on myself or pursue my passions and
allows me to live a life that I would
like to live because of the money that
I'm making every two weeks so that's how
I like to see it and I feel like that's
really encouraged me to figure out what
hobbies I do like Part of Life Is
Knowing and finding what your passions
are I know everyone has a passion out
there and I feel like if your nine to
five allows you to find out what that is
and for you to pursue it or take action
in it then I just feel like that's like
an amazing part of having a job in the
first place so yeah that's tip number
three find a hobby tip number four know
your PTO policy and plan your PTO for
the year I know that sounds crazy but I
promise that active doesn't take that
long because usually PTO is nothing more
than like 20 or 21 days or maybe your
company has designated sick days or
maybe your company has like unlimited
PTO where you can just kind of take it
where you need it and that's what my
company has regardless even though I
even have unlimited PTO you guys first
of all just know what your PTO plan is
but also just scheduling it out really
really helps your mental health
especially when working 40 hours every
single week when you know that you have
that long weekend or a holiday weekend
track that too because that counts as
time off I mean that's what it was
created for it's to help prevent burnout
for employees and if you don't plan your
PTO then you just won't take it maybe
that's how I am if I don't plan my PTO I
just like will not take it and then I
will work for months with no time off
feel burnt out and then all of a sudden
I feel like I have to take like two
weeks off to recover that's what I would
say don't do because if you just know
when your next long weekend is it really
helps you kind of like motivate yourself
to get through those work weeks every
single week and then it allows you to
spread them out throughout the year so
that you kind of never go like every X
number of weeks without having a long
weekend for yourself another thing I
would also ask yourself is what type of
time off is best for you is it traveling
is it taking self-care days and telling
nobody about BTO or is it just a long
weekend to fit some appointments in
whatever it is I would Define like what
you want that PTO day to be when you
take it because that's something I even
still struggle with today I'll just take
PTO just because and then all of a
sudden I've like overbooked myself and
I'm still stressed when the point of PTO
is to allow yourself to recharge and
recover and come back to work with like
a much better healthier mindset take
your PTO know what your policy is and
schedule it out because otherwise you
might burn out and I don't want you to
burn out because that sucks also
optimize the holidays you guys because
for Thanksgiving you will probably be
able to take a week off without actually
taking five business days off same for
Christmas and New Year's you can
probably take over two weeks off of time
off without taking a full 10 days so
definitely kind of like play with it
best and plan out those days because
then you can plan the rest of the year
when you know what the holidays are tip
number five this is about like the
social aspect or like going out culture
I feel like of having like an office job
or working corporate and also like just
meeting new people my first tip is
really really important and it's to try
to find at least like one or two friends
actually in your company or even better
in your team that you Vibe with people
that you trust that if there's something
going on you trust that you can go to
them and it's like a safe space or if
something's going well you can talk to
them about it and it just makes the
whole entire experience of working a lot
more enjoyable and you never know I feel
like some of my closest friends that
I've made have been through work which
is like so weird and like odd goes to
show that you can really make actual
genuine personal friends through your
workplace and then eventually they won't
be like a workplace friend they'll just
be an actual personal friend which is
really really cool but also find friends
and put yourself in environments to meet
new people especially if you're someone
that moved to a new city to start your
full-time job and you don't know anyone
how else are you expecting to make
friends if you don't put yourself in
environments to meet new people so join
a gym membership or a workout membership
like orange theory or solid core or
anything really start going to yoga
classes join a run Club I feel like
exercise is just the first thing that I
think of because that's what I like the
most but there's also like art classes
you can take I bet like where you live
in your community has events that you
just don't know of and I would just
encourage you to say yes to more things
as you adjust to your nine to five life
because meeting new people and making
new friends I feel like helps you to
really enjoy your adult life you don't
really feel as isolated as you were
unexpectedly feeling I feel like when
you start your full-time job and you
work and then you're tired you realize
almost how like isolated it can be to
work an office job so I would really
encourage you to say yes to more things
and just allow yourself to make new
friends outside of your job the
workplace runs are really important but
friends outside of work are also just as
important I feel like you'll just feel a
lot more fulfilled that way if meeting
new friends only happens during those
like work happy hours I feel like that's
a good starting point but I would just
encourage you to like be smart when you
go to those work happy hours if you're
someone that drinks alcohol just drink
responsibly and just know that you're
still kind of in a semi-work environment
yeah I feel like that's all I have to
say about that just be smart going to
the work happy hours it's a good way to
meet people at your company outside of
work hours but then I would encourage
you to kind of just like go away from
the happy hours when you want to meet
those friends again but there's nothing
wrong with workout videos too just like
obviously be responsible okay tip number
six
be organized guys be organized okay I
think when I started my full-time job I
was just so like excited and naive and I
didn't really know how to handle it that
my organization skills were just not
there I had my work calendar where all
of my meetings were but outside of that
like I didn't really have like a to-do
list I didn't have a planner I didn't
really have a way for me to manage my
actual work tasks and especially in that
first year or two I feel like what's
expected of you is to really just try
your best to do the task at hand as best
as possible and ask really good
questions and understand what tasks
you're actually doing so I feel like
being organized with your notes when
you're learning things about your new
job learning about the industry that you
work in and also just managing your own
tasks eventually you're going to have
multiple tasks that you have to manage
at once be organized because I feel like
it can really work to your advantage to
know exactly what your tasks are how to
do them test out different ways of how
you can maintain your organization best
I like having a weekly notepad because I
can write my to-do's for every single
day and then at the end of the week I
can see kind of like how I manage my
week but I know that a lot of other
people like to do daily to-do lists a
lot of people like to just use an actual
planner for just work related things and
that really helps them so test out
different things I will link the weekly
notepad that I use but you can also just
test out whatever you want when it comes
to being organized I feel like the value
of being as organized as possible at
work is again just allowing yourself a
better work-life balance because if you
already know what tasks you're doing
what you have to do tomorrow what you
have to do on Monday if it's Friday then
it just allows you to actually mentally
log off when you close the computer and
your workday is done or your work week
is done if it's all just living in my
head all the time I'm kind of always
going to think about it but if I write
it down or type it out so that I don't
forget then when I close my laptop like
I literally will not forget because I
already wrote it down so yeah I feel
like I wish I was a little bit more
organized when I first started out in
nine to five I was just so like in la la
land that I didn't really really
prioritize that enough so I would
definitely have that as a tip to just be
as organized as possible tip number
seven invest in yourself and this goes
like in multiple different ways because
if you're someone that works from home
like me get a freaking standing desk you
guys it will just make working a lot
more enjoyable when you can move from
standing to sitting and helps your
productivity put that first paycheck or
put that first bonus towards something
relating to your work life as much as
you don't want to and I totally get it
whether or not you like it you have to
work nine to five minimum and giving
yourself a good workspace is really
important to help give you like a better
experience and be more productive at
work so if you work from home get a
standing desk I actually cannot really
emphasize that enough the chair is
really important too like having a good
work chair but the standing desk is my
number one thing you have to get a
standing desk and then eventually once
you get a standing desk you'll
understand the value of investing in
your workstation and then you'll get a
good chair and then you'll get a good
monitor a good Mouse and I have a whole
work from home setup video for you guys
if you're interested but if you're
someone that goes to the office then
ways that you can invest in yourself is
treating yourself to a really nice work
backpack or a work tote something that
will get you excited to use it so that
you can be excited to work a little bit
more than if you didn't have that thing
if you have a nine to five job and you
have a typical bi-weekly paycheck
allocate a certain amount if you have to
budget it and really save up to have
something to invest in your work life
because it will genuinely make working
so much more enjoyable more than you
think I promise find yourself a favorite
work outfit and then if you're someone
that has like a cube like actually
decorate your Cube go to Home Goods get
some fake plans get some like a salt
lamp that's what I have at my Cube print
out some pictures like there's nothing
wrong with that and if you Hotel just
keep some pictures or something in your
backpack or like a fake plan or
something that won't be too clunky but
just something that will give you like a
little bit more of like a personalized
space that also really helps with
working at an office and really just
think about different ways that you can
invest in yourself during your nine to
five life tip number eight and this is
something that will help you get through
the actual like time of nine to five
give yourself time blocks and find your
favorite playlists or videos because
when you hit that wall whether it's
mid-morning mid-afternoon right after
lunch and you realize you have four
hours left to still work I would say my
maximum time block is usually like an
hour and a half to two hours but in the
beginning just start off with one hour
work for 60 minutes straight play your
favorite album or your favorite playlist
artist or just put on like a study with
me Pomodoro Timer video on YouTube I do
that all the time too especially when I
really really need to like Zone in
giving yourself our time blocks really
helps the time go by a lot faster and
then you can break up your work day with
lunch and then before you know it you
just need to do like three more time
blocks and then you're done so if you
give yourself like one main project or
one main task or you're reading about
one certain thing with your job doing
that for one hour you can do that and
then once you get comfortable with doing
that for one hour then you can extend it
to an hour and a half or whatever time
it is you just kind of have to figure
out what works best for you and how you
will focus best in the morning you're
going to tackle these two two tasks one
for each hour and then before you know
it will be lunchtime kind of thing and
when you take your breaks in between
your time blocks actually just get out
of your desk like stand up and either
walk to the circle in your office or go
take out your dog or like get yourself
more water like actually just stand up
and leave for a second and then it'll
just feel a lot better because you'll
come back kind of more mentally ready to
handle the next task at hand and
speaking of investing in yourself if you
get really good headphones that's
another really good thing that I think
is worth investing in anything that you
can save up for headphones wise will
really really help then you can listen
to music or podcasts or kind of anything
and just like block out all the noise
and really focus on what you're doing on
your computer and I think that really
really helps just like helping the time
go by again just like getting through
the actual hours of nine to five because
I remember after lunch I'd be like oh my
God I have so much time left until the
end of the day and I still get like that
but that's another tip that I have for
anyone that's like really struggling to
have the time actually go by also for
your time try not to have a heavy lunch
because you will fall asleep in the
after noon and then it will be that much
harder to get to 5 PM so give yourself a
lighter lunge get some fruit or
something like just anything that's not
really heavy so that you don't get that
food coma because I've had way too many
times where I have food coma in the
afternoon and I like have to have
afternoon coffee that's all I have to
say tip number nine give yourself a
midweek treat especially for five day
work weeks give yourself something to
look forward to on Wednesday is it
something like take out or going out to
a restaurant is it something like giving
yourself a good dessert or are you going
to go meet up with someone or just kind
of like what are you gonna do on
Wednesday to help you get through the
work week because once you get to
Wednesday morning you're like Ugh it's
middle of the week but if you have that
thing at the end of Wednesday that
you're like wait it's my midweek treat
day I think that helps a lot with just
managing a five-day work week and then
on Tuesday which I think is the worst
day in the week you're like well at
least I have the thing tomorrow and then
you get to Thursday and you're like wait
it's almost the weekend so I feel like
that helps a lot just giving yourself a
midweek treat to get yourself through
the work week itself and then lastly
this is my very last tip for adjusting
to nine to five life consider getting a
meal subscription and I know that
they're kind of expensive but if you
guys just try every single meal
subscription like there's actually so
many you can use the influencer codes to
trial every single one and it's actually
really cheap and then you can choose the
one that you think is the most value to
you but I've had hello fresh as a
subscription I think since 2021 maybe
early 2022 I like will never get rid of
it I do it minimum once a month now but
if I'm really busy I will get it every
week if I need to I just think it's a
really good way to encourage me to one
cook at home and not spend so much money
at restaurants but also to like learn
how to cook and give myself just like a
recipe card to follow I can put in my
headphones after work and like
decompress I give myself like a mental
commute by cooking a lot of the time
when I'm working from home so consider a
meal subscription because I remember
when I was first working I was like
cooking is actually the last thing that
I want to do and I know that people
really enjoy cooking so I hope this
doesn't apply to those people but if it
applies to you where you just don't
really enjoy cooking and especially when
you're first starting to adjust to your
nine to five then giving yourself a meal
subscription will really really help and
you won't be spending like so much money
on restaurants and take out and stuff if
you don't want to actually cook there's
also meal subscriptions like freshly and
I think freshly is the only one I know
off the top of my head but there are
also meal subscriptions where they give
you like ready to eat meals that you
just put in the microwave put it in a
bowl and then you can eat it so
definitely considered one of those if
you don't like actually cooking but just
get a meal subscription just try them
out they're really really cheap if you
use all the influencer coats and stuff
hellofresh is just like a good staple I
think and I think it's really really
worth it because you also save yourself
a trip to the grocery store which is a
chore whether or not I like it okay and
those are all of my tips for adjusting
to nine to five life like I said in the
beginning of this video if you guys have
