Transcripts
I have just finished watching season 1
of hasbin hotel and I have a lot of
things I want to say about it from the
music to the animation and the pacing
there are lots of pros and cons but
considering the background of the show
and where it all began when Vivy first
started working on making an
animation it's truly incredible what
she's managed to accomplish and really
inspiring she's made her own path from
creating Indie content to getting
recognized by Massive companies like
Amazon and a24
[Music]
the pilot was released almost 5 years
ago and the show has come a very long
way since
then we follow Charlie the princess of
hell as she pursues her goal of
rehabilitating Sinners with the
intention for them to be accepted into
heaven to reduce the overpopulation in
hell now on paper this is a wonderful
idea but when you realize that the
majority of demons in in hell don't
actually care about improving themselves
this becomes seemingly
impossible and then we're introduced to
[Music]
Alistair right off the bat he tells
Charlie why he wants to help with the
hotel which is purely for his own
entertainment of watching people fail
now this does make sense and aligns with
his character but we don't really know
for sure what his true intentions are
but he clearly shows that he doesn't
believe her plan would actually work by
mocking her with a trailer to the hotel
which I thought was pretty
funny so what do you think alist I mean
we want people to want to come here this
makes it look
um bad funny I was going for
hilarious but in this video I'm going to
take a look into alistair's personality
and figuring out how powerful he really
is decades ago Alistair manifested in
Hell seemingly overnight he began to
topple overlords who had been dominant
for centuries that kind of raw power had
never been harnessed by a mortal Soul
before then he broadcast his Carnage all
throughout hell just so everyone could
witness his
ability in the pilot when vagi describes
his
backstory we get the impression that he
is one of the most powerful overlords
known in in hell and I honestly believed
that no other Overlord could beat
him until episode 3 of the release
season Alis yes I know I've been absent
some time I'm sure you've all been
wondering not really but welcome back in
any case there are certain moments where
he is undermined by other overlords
which gave me the impression that he
might not be as strong as I
thought when you look closer you can see
Alistair was triggered by this comment
or at least was
surprised this reaction from Alistair
showed that Carmela's comment did get to
him the fact that she showed no
hesitation in dismissing Alistair makes
me think that she doesn't see him as a
threat or take him
[Music]
seriously whether this was to assert
dominance or because she genuinely
doesn't feel threatened by him it makes
you think that not all overlords are
intimidated by him and I believe that
Carmela and zesti are more powerful than
him
[Music]
but this comment from carmilla could
also be a front if she admitted to it or
died at it she could stir trouble she
might have not wanted to deal
with oh boy what's the plan boss I like
your suit what are the handlers for can
I touch your staff thing are those your
ears or is it your hair I can't tell
there was a scene shared between
Alistair and zesti before the meeting
and when zesti first appeared ALS shows
a slight moment of
panic I believe he tenses up only after
an egg speaks because he knows that if
they disrespect zeso then he'll likely
shatter
them who's that boss want me to rub them
up for you follow in silence if you
value your shell but at the same time
this could also be because he cares
about zest's respect and doesn't want
the eggs to make him look bad but one
thing I noticed were that Sinners on the
street started reacting to the overlords
only after zesti appeared whereas Al
sister is seen walking without these
kinds of
reactions this might be because he had
been missing for S years and sinners may
have forgotten his
significance because of the
exterminations and thousands of new
people entering hell it's possible that
he hasn't been prevalent for some time
so the reactions from Sinners could just
be from the sight of zesti arriving
suggesting that zesti has more power and
influence throughout hell however we
still don't really know that much about
him or his past so I would take
everything I say with a grain of
[Music]
salt now in comparison we have Vox well
who else is there someone who owes you
money someone who owes us much more than
money the radio demon is
there what did you just say you heard me
according to Vivy Fox and Alistair don't
get along because of their opposing
views on
technology with Alistair disliking
anything invented after his death in the
1930s and Vox preferring modern tech
which is where their rivalry begun on
who proves to be more popular among
viewers fox has some sort of fixation
with Alistair and desperately wants
Alistair to notice
him without going too much into their
history we know that Vox and Alistair
have been Rivals for some time with
Valentino commenting you still ped he
almost beat you that time it seems like
Vox barely came out on top but even the
very name of Alistair strikes a nerve
when mentioned so it's clear he's been
living in vox's head rentree for a very
very long time we don't know exactly
what they had a fight about or if Vox
actually beat Alistair they might have
tied or were interrupted if they were
actually fighting for their lives in
either case Alistair poses a threat to
Vox he has been at the top of the tech
sector up to this point with only Al
appearing to be his worthy rival but
since his return Vox tries to ruin
alistar's credibility and reputation in
order to maintain his position since he
doesn't want to lose his
viewers by gossiping to hell and
announcing Al's return he starts off
seemingly confident though it becomes
readily apparent that Vox is all talk we
watch him gain a short-term ego boost
through slandering Alistair in hopes
that being loud enough will result in
him overpowering Al he is frantically
attempting to convince others of his
superiority however we get to watch his
self assured facade quickly crumble when
Al uses his weaknesses against him Vox
EX exaggerates the visual element by
using bright colors backgrounds props
and special effects by emphasizing what
Alistar is incapable of doing via radio
Alistair however is completely unfazed
since he is aware that he can attract
the audience's attention without using
flashy tricks and he's correct the
moment he begins his broadcast the
Sinners are interested but it proves
that you don't need to constantly Chase
fads or change formats it seems Vox is
so unconfident about his work he can't
help but chase the next best
thing alist never once interrupted vox's
show he patiently waited for Vox to
finish before starting his own verse Vox
however constantly interjects during
alistair's broadcast with exclamations
of anger trying to destabilize and
discredit Alistair to recover some
dignity to take the show back for
himself Alistair barely reacts and more
or less ignores Vox and continues
speaking completely
unbothered he doesn't stoop down to
vox's level to fight back he only begins
broadcasting on air after Vox first
announces he's back Al would have had to
rebuild his listening audience from the
ground up instead most of Hell probably
heard Vox Scrabble and fail miserably
and are now tuning in to alistair's
radio he clearly knows how to push vox's
buttons targeting his insecurities
making him so worked up to the point
where he self-destructs and causes a
blackout throughout hell there's no
doubt that Vox is strong and influential
but he Lacks alist cunning and emotional
restraint Vox ultimately loses not
necessarily because he is weaker but
because he cannot control himself Al's
calm demeanor throughout the song shows
he doesn't feel threatened he knows who
he is and what he's capable of he lets
his actions speak for him by keeping
composure he asserts that he is the one
in
control moving on to one of my favorite
episodes in the series in episode 5 we
finally meet Charlie's dad Lucifer and
there's a lot to unpack here when
Lucifer meets Alistair he completely
looks over him figuratively who is this
who is this are you the Bell hop
dismissing him from having any
importance I am the host of the hotel
you might have heard of me from my radio
broadcast Alistar mentions his radio
broadcast looking to gain recognition
and respect nope I guess that's why
Charlie called it the hasbin hotel but
he just doesn't care one bit Al seems
want Lucifer to take notice in him and
begins to mock Lucifer within the first
5 Seconds of meeting him pleasure to be
meeting you sir quite a pleasure it's
nice to finally put a face to the name
you are much shorter in real life and
when you think about it this is the
first time we've seen Al be the one to
initiate conflict with someone and of
all the people he could have picked to
antagonize and provoke he chose the king
of Hell one of the few people that would
absolutely destroy
Alistair it was actually my idea well
it's not very
clever you okay okay anyway during their
quarrel alist swears which I believe was
for the first time in the show so this
was pretty out of character for him
while usually he presents himself as
classy and witty this response felt
incredibly personal it was as if he
broke character for a split
second and Vivy actually explained why
this was in a live stream when she said
he was face Toof face with a being so
ridiculous ly more powerful than him
that he felt threatened and wanted a way
of asserting dominance over him without
picking a fight he knew he would lose
although Charlie is also more powerful
than Alistair as shown in this
hierarchy Al doesn't seem to see her as
an issue because she is kind-hearted and
believes that all demons have good
inside of them no matter how bad they
are so instead of fighting Lucifer
physically he decides to attack him
emotionally if we take a closer look you
can actually see Al constantly analyzing
Lucifer's body language and trying to
figure out how to get under his
skin and once he discovered Lucifer's
insecurities about being a bad father he
didn't hold back by acting as if he is
closer to Charlie than Lucifer is he
uses Charlie to aggravate Lucifer by
making him feel as though he's been
replaced exploiting his weaknesses Al
gains Power by doing this and simply
enjoys seeing that he can get a reaction
out of
Lucifer all right then that is until
Lucifer decides he's had enough he shows
Charlie the amount of power and
influence he has to prove that he's
better than Alistair trying to impress
her with materialistic things and act as
though he can grant her any wish like a
Genie in a Bottle now although Charlie
is impressed all of these things aren't
very personal or touching so even after
everything he's showing her she doesn't
specifically feel that fatherdaughter
connection which as we know is something
she's longed for dearly and Alistair
combat bets this by saying all of the
things that targets his weaknesses as a
father but he doesn't want to just get
in Lucifer's head he also doesn't want
anyone else influencing Charlie other
than himself and who's a greater danger
to that than her own father by acting
the way he does in the song he was also
pulling strings with Charlie to make him
seem like he cares more about her than
her own dad does appealing to her deep
love of friendship this tactic also
prevents Charlie from questioning what
his real intentions
are in order for Alistar to control
Charlie he needs her to depend on him
and by reminding Charlie that Lucifer
has been an absent father she will see
Al as more reliable having Lucifer
around could complicate his plans so
it's in his best interest to drive a
wedge between
them Lucifer isn't as naive as Charlie
and when he's around Alistair wouldn't
have as much control as he does now and
wouldn't be able to manipulate
Charlie now I'm just going to mention
this part briefly since since this is
just a theory and we don't know anything
for certain yet if we assume that Lilith
is the one who owns alistar's Soul then
his hostility towards Lucifer may also
be resentment since Lucifer is the ex-
partner of Lilith I'm sure Al would feel
a certain type of bitterness towards
him so it's been a long buildup but
really just how dangerous is
[Music]
Alistair throughout season 1 Alistair
has remained
mysterious he's incredibly aware of
others perception of him and likes to
control their opinions on how they view
him he has a carefully established
Persona wearing a smile like a piece of
clothing while openly sharing this to
Charlie he reveals that he uses this
like a tool to deceive others around him
and hide his real
feelings when Al is almost killed by
Adam he flees to a place where he can be
alone so he can truly Express his fear
and anger after he gains his composure
and joins the others the first thing he
says is we're doing it with a smile
which seems very upbeat and friendly but
the truth is far from that he conceals
his true self with the others seeing him
present as though it didn't phase him
one
bit although he may pretend to be
sincere he thoroughly enjoys the
suffering of others with a notoriously
sadistic sense of humor finding death
and destruction in general to be
hilariously funny especially if he is
the one who causes
it and this is where alistair's true
power shines through his ability to
control and manipulate others without
them directly realizing it using
intelligence and playing his opponents
like it's a game of chess he has a
strategic approach to getting his
desired outcome which is why he wants to
remain close to Charlie for this very
reason with Alistair saying she's filled
with potential I could guide and Rosie
saying I can Cur stick with her you'll
be on the winning
side he is playing the long game and
slowly gaining their trust to lower
their guards around his motives now
Charlie is wary of his tricks but her
naivity and optimism could potentially
lead her into trusting the wrong person
and Alistar knows
this throughout season 1 he was eagerly
awaiting his chance to catch her at a
moment where she was desperate enough to
agree to a deal although he didn't ask
for her soul I suspect this is because
he still needs her to trust him so he
asked for a favor
instead agreeing to her condition that
the favor harms nobody then again there
might be more conditions within this
deal that weren't discussed but if he
really cared about Charlie then wouldn't
he tell her the information without the
[Music]
deal
