side-by-side review of the seven major

AC and heating Brands which one should

you buy and which one should you avoid

reviewing these brands for the first

time in history will shed light on the

differences between them or as some say

they're all the same and it doesn't

matter what you buy before we begin let

me tell you this real quick it can be

very difficult for consumers to make a

decision considering all the different

brands hopefully this review can help

all right let's dive in every system we

have here is 3 tons and they're all

popular models here in southeast Florida

all of them are single stage and they're

all the minimum efficiency offered by

each Brand This is a true Apples to

Apples comparison it's important to note

that all of these brands do offer higher

efficient two-stage and inverted Drive

models these are all straight cool ACS

but the heat pump version of these

models look pretty much identical the

difference between them is not much at

all we will remove all the panels and

take a look at the components we'll

compare them to each other so that you

can see the difference once we've done

that we'll rate each individual system

after a long and careful consideration

we develop the Greenworks AC score

here's the rules for each useful or

outstanding feature will receive 10

points efficiency is important so any

system over 15 Seer will receive 20

points if any system CR2 rating is below

15 it will get zero points we'll be

tough on that yeah the kind to the cruel

will be the cruel to the kind the VAP

coils are so important and surrounded by

so much controversy that will have a top

score of 50 points and a minimum score

of 20 points there are evap coils out

there that are so bad that if we have to

rate them we would give them minus 50

points before we begin we wanted to make

it clear that not one of these

manufacturers provided us with free air

conditioners nor compensated Us in any

other ways me and Chris we spent a great

deal of time thinking and brainstorming

of how we're going to come up with the

very unbiased review this mindset our

scoring system considers three important

factors as they are all related to each

other consumer perspective installers

perspective service tech perspective all

right let's begin with the review are

you ready let's go yep let's do it this

starting with Linux train then we have

yeah we're going to start with Linux

we have here is the Linux ml17 xc1 036

matched with a CBA 25 UA 036 this is a

SE 2 matchup of a

15.60 the BTUs on it is

35,200 so for the condenser we gave it

20 points for the high and low pressure

switch 10 points small Dimension size

small better smaller the better you know

10 points for that heavy duty protective

Co covering over the over the condenser

coil 10 points for that pretty good it

has an aluminum Quantum coil in there 10

points for that and the tubing size on

that is 10 mm we're going to give it 10

points for that the noise rating on this

on the lenux matchup is the most

efficient off of all of these right out

of all them and and it has high BTUs

yeah wow it has two lethal combination

yeah two big fin coils no micr Channel

coils it's going to get 10 points for

that it has an exterior filter dryer so

you're not changing the filter dryer

inside there if you ever have to

excellent feature 10 points for that

moving along to the air handler so the

coil uh coil quality on this the coil

size man this is this is an opinion oh

my goodness the coil quality on this is

good we're going to give it 30 points

out of the 50 it's a Quantum coil this

is a Quantum coil y yeah yep

unbelievable Coil Tubing size on that 10

mm going to get 10 points for that the

fins on this it has the uh corrugated

wavy fins on there it's going to get 20

points for that those fins give you

larger surface area yep distributor tube

insulation they got the insulation

around these distributor tubes so they

don't rub and create a leak excellent

feat 10 points for that accessibility to

the expansion valve going to get 10

points for that very easy to service

blower housing insulation so this is for

the proximity to the coil so it doesn't

condensate that is an excellent feature

too y uh the blower motor has four four

blower motor mounts on there four motor

mounts yep going to get 10 points for

that low voltage terminal block 10

points for that that makes it a lot

easier built-in filter wrap 10 points

for that this one also comes with the

filter they ship it with the filter the

only one didn't get points for that but

I want to know it 10 points for the

built-in filter R so lenux lenux Air

Handlers is the only one only one that

comes with the filter yep yeah

installation support around the blower

so it's got this support here so that

the insulation doesn't get sucked into

the blower you're going to get 10 points

for that excellent access to clean the

drain pan in here you can get in here

and clean this drain Point pan out

pretty good we're going to give it 10

points for that easy to service has a

ECM 5-speed motor 10 points for that and

the distributor tubes and the return

tubes are equally uh distributed

throughout the coil you see so we're

going to give it 10 points for that

definely as for the system we gave it a

green Works reliability this is an

opinion score this is in our opinion

we're going to give it 10 points for the

reliability we do think this is a

reliable system I would definitely

recommend it absolutely so if we find a

system reliable we give it 10 points

there's no more it's only 10 because

it's on own opinion all right very good

here we have the train hard to stop a

condenser is a 4ttr 436 the air handler

is a tem 4B 037 this is a CR2 rating of

14.3 and the BTUs on it is

34,200 so let's get started the high and

low pressure cutout switches this has it

20 points 10 points each small Dimension

size obviously the smaller the better

going to get 10 points for that the

heavy duty uh protective covering over

the coil it's pretty stiff probably the

stiffest of all yep 10 points for that

Yep this has a famous spine fin aluminum

coil in there 10 points for that

definitely the tubing size on that is

3/8 big tubing size on that get 10

points for that the noise rating on this

is below 74 DP we're giving it 10 points

for that yeah those are noise reducing f

no noise reducing fan blades excellent

feature Yep this has exterior filter

dryer nobody wants to change the filter

dryer inside absolutely not going to get

10 the worst ni nightmare of all and

then one of the best features on this is

going to have the plastic bottom oh yeah

oh yeah it's not going to rust out

that's not going to rot out by any means

got 10 points for that moving along to

the air moving along to the air handler

take a look at that coil right there

whoa look at that coil four rows four

rows of four Co it's like 20 something

inches tall huge coil oh

man wow wow yeah man that's huge four

rows right yeah yeah compared to and

what's the tube size on this uh that's

10 mm

tubes y so so hold on a second so off of

these seven Brands um Trin has the

biggest coil yeah and then and then hold

on let let me show the lenux is the

second one and then and then we got Dyan

um It's relatively tall but it's like

how many what's the tubing size on this

uh 5 mm yeah and we got three rows in

there so it's a lot thinner um and the

rest of them are all smaller wait hold

on hold on we already hear the

counterargument for that right there's

different reasons why they make bigger

coils but I just think it's pretty cool

that this coil is definitely oh yeah so

uh as for reliability of this coil we're

going to give it 10 point give it 30

points out 30 points out of the 50

pretty reliable coil there the tubing

size on that the 10 mm uh it's going to

get 10 points for that

um next access to the TXV to be able to

change his expansion valve uh pretty

easy serviceable going to get 10 points

for that very unique feature right here

check this out this blower housing very

aerodynamic this is for cavitation now

this is impressive this that is

impressive very cool very cool design on

that we're going to give it 10 points

for that that's a spirit of innovation y

yep not so the other manufactures don't

have that function um this is only

trained this is a beautiful cabinet yeah

the reliability this is an opinion score

uh Greenworks opinion okay so take it

for what you want perfect very good

system that's reviewed very good system

all right here we are with the carrier

oh yeah so carrier was actually the one

who designed the belt for the opening

belt for the New York Stock Exchange fun

fact there yeah well V carrier was the

one actually who invented popular air

conditioner the window units right and

then not just that but it's the his

invention significantly contributed to

the population growth in the southern

states y so without him yeah maybe no AC

and only very few people in Florida yeah

so let's start with this this is a

condenser uh 24 SCA 536 matched with an

air handler fj4 DN XB 36 SE 2 rating on

this is 152 and the BTUs is 33,000 even

so let's get into it here so this has a

coated coil if you look it's a black Co

very good feature good feat helps reduce

the uh oxidation of the coils yeah all

right this does have an aluminum coil in

it going to get 10 points for that as

well tubing size of this condenser coil

is a 9 mm tubing size 10 points for that

very good the efficiency is above a 15

CR2 going to get 20 points for that tub

and fin coils this has tub and fin coils

10 points for that and it does have an

exterior filter dryer you probably keep

hearing I say that but that's a great

feature excellent feature all right so

let's get into the air handler here so

let's look at this coil so the quality

on this coil this is an opinion of ours

so in our opinion this is a good quality

coil so we're going to give it 30 out of

the 50 points 30 the coil tube size on

this is 10 mm going to get 10 points for

that yep a built-in filter rack 10

points for that good feature insulation

support around the blower so your

insulation doesn't get sucked in

excellent feature 10 points for that ECM

5speed motor 10 points for that now one

of the greatest features of this unit is

the size of the cabinet this is 49 in

tall 17 1/2 in wide oh yeah still gives

you good sear rating you got one of the

highest out of all these seven even

though it's smaller this this unit will

fit in basically any closet it can fit

in the Attic full everything slides out

fan uh coil the crossbar on the top the

guys usually fold it up they pump it

through the scotle hole very easy to uh

reassemble it's easy to install

to these distributor tubes it's equally

divided across the coil uh same with the

return that's going to get 10 points for

that so let's go to the system

reliability score here the Greenworks

reliability score carrier is going to

get the 10 points definitely nothing

carrier gets it I would recommend

putting this system in absolutely here

we have the tempar it's a carrier no

condenser here this has the black coated

coil on there it's a painted coil

excellent feature yep and uh I mean just

like the carrier it's basically same

black black the tubing size of this is

10 mm tubes on that condenser coil

however this is a copper coil compared

to the carrier that's one major

difference copper coil by chance by

chance some of these come with the

aluminum coil some of them come with the

copper coil depends on which day you buy

so by chance we got the the copper coil

but well by chance it's still copper

coil so we we can't can't give him the

points yeah all right uh noise rating on

this is below 74 DB so we will give it

points for that very good um the

efficiency on this is above a 15c 2 it

will get points for that it has tubin

finin coils and not a micr channel coil

it will get 10 points for that has an

exterior filter dryer so the filter

dryer in this thing is exterior so you

don't have to go inside that cabinet and

change it you know yeah we hate the

interior ones all right moving along to

the air handler take a look at this coil

uh the quality of this coil this is an

opinion score here we're going to give

it 30 points out of the 50 a good

quality coil uh the tubing size so when

it comes to Quality um all of them

scored 30 points or minim minimum

minimum of uh minimum score of 20 points

and a maximum score of 50 all right so

you know who scored 50 none none so the

highest score for uh is basically that

they gave off of the seven manufacturers

is 30 right yeah wow okay yep so this

has 10 mm tubes on here going to get 10

points for that the distributor and

return tubes on here they're equally

divided across the coil get 10 points

for that same thing as a carrier yeah

everybody huge oh yeah they definitely

what in Japanese Great Value in money

great sum of money

all right so what are we dealing with

what so we got the D here it's a dx4 e a

3610 matched with the amst 36 cu14 air

hammer it has a 14.3 CR2 rating and

34,400 BT I really like the look of the

logo pretty cool looking yeah I think so

so let's get into it high and low

pressure cutout switches 10 points each

you're going to get 20 points for that

this also has a temperature sensor in

there so it's going

10 points for that another cool feature

on here if you look over here it has

this let's move on to the other side

look over here it has this core sense

Diagnostic Center very good pretty cool

that senses your amperage or sense if

you have a lock rotor amps High amperage

on your compressor it also has a lock

out for your high and low pressure

switches there yep very good pretty cool

another unique feature here it has the

core I mean it has the uh that's a good

feature too quarter turn service valve

there so you don't have to keep cranking

on that if you're trying to pump it down

so this is a this is a a great thing

right here if somebody lives up north

and um they leave the home for what four

or five months so it just prevents it

from constantly Running Y yeah very good

all right let's look inside here I want

compressor blanket on it hold on so this

is the temperature sensor yep um no

other manufacturer have the temperature

and we have a compressor blanket down

they like it and some people don't like

copper coil in there it's not going to

get the points for that but it does have

tub and fin coils we're going to give it

not a micr Channel all what do we got in

let's look over here to the air handler

so let's check out this coil first uh

quality coil is very important yeah

quality score on this so this is an

opinion score on the quality of the coil

and we're giving it 20 points all right

20 points just so so the highest score

for the the rest of the air conditioners

was 30 30 was the highest out of all

this is 20 it's a little bit below but

it's it's okay it's it's still a good

system yeah yep all right so let's get

into it here so the accessibility for

the TXV excellent excellent look at this

you got all kinds of room here you can

change that system right very good

feature 10 points has a low voltage

terminal block 10 points for that right

up there yep has very good uh insulation

Support over here good stuff you got

this support here you got support in the

back so it's not going to get I kind of

like the uh the horizontal drain pan

design design too I I think I think

that's that's pretty cool now wait wait

purchase the Dyan make sure you tell the

installers to pull that to pull that

shraer core from there that needs to be

removed before they start brazing the

seeping refrigerant you're constantly

losing refrigerant it's not Dy like it's

not dyin right they tell you it's the

installers they some of them just don't

do the right job they don't even know

about it so I we just wanted to point

this out yeah so filter rack here 10

points for that access to cleaning clean

the drain pan 10 points for that y has

that 5-speed ECM motor 10 points for

that coil back to the coil here the

distribution the return lines and the

distribution distri equally distributed

all right 10 points for that yep all all

right let's look at this thing uh the

entire system here we're going to give

this thing a reliability score we're

going to give it the 10 points it's

either 10 or nothing we think the dyin

is reliable we're going to give him 10

points and and and some contractors are

you know selling it through parts and

years labor so that's kind of like a

unique feature but it can change you

know at any time yeah yeah good warranty

on it so it's a good system it's a good

system here we have the r same thing as

a rude the only thing difference between

a ream and rude is a tag same model

numbers everything just y all right so

this is a ra14 A36 condenser matched

with the rh1 pz 3617 air handler this is

a CR 2 rating of 14.3 the BTUs on it is

34,200 so let's get into it inside here

love those yeah so this does qualify for

the nors rating it's going to be below

the 74 death I think it was one of the

yep it's got a plastic bottom too look

at this yeah plastic B points for that

yeah very nice it does have tub and fin

coils 10 points for that however they

are copper coils it's not aluminum coils

in there so you're not going to get the

aluminum coil points but it will get

the yeah at least it's not a micr

channel y uh it does have an exterior

filter dryer so you can mount that

filter dryer up at the air handler Y

close to the evaporator coil you don't

have to change filter dryers inside the

cabinet so he going to get 10 points for

that definitely all right let's get into

the air handler here okay all right so

look at this coil Quality quality rating

on this this is an opinion we're giving

it 20 points 20 points out of the 50

like we said out of all these the

maximum that any of them got was 30 so

30 so it's not a deal deal killer it's

pretty it's a pretty good co good good

tubing size here 10 mm tubing sizes gin

covers it's got corrugated fins on there

the wavy fins on there pretty good

distributor Tu production over here it's

only on two of them but we went ahead

and gave them the points for it you know

so they don't rub together yeah

definitely four blower mounts here four

blower mounts on there it's got a PSC

motor in there so it didn't get points

for the ECM but hey it's it's basically

the old style it's got protective uh

insulation support in there so it

doesn't get sucked into the blower

that's a good feature good stuff there

one of the best features of this is a

small cabinet size so this will fit in

your closets your small closets it'll

fit up in the attic it's short too it's

short you know yeah very easy to install

very very easy to install so let's go on

so Greenworks reliability score this is

a reliability this is an opinion again

this is our opinion the reliability of

this system we're going to give it 10

points this is a reliable system major

major AC and heating brand I think so

yeah yeah remember Bram rude same thing

this I would recommend it I would I

would too yeah yeah definitely all right

very good all right here we have the

York made by Johnson Controls Johnson

Controls Johnson Controls is a very good

company they do some really good

engineering I've seen them do some great

stuff with there very smart folks over

there yeah so let's look into here so in

here they have a high pressure cut off

switch only they do not have a low

pressure cuto off switch so they're

going to get 10 points not the not the

20 for that now take a look at this coil

comess this is an aluminum coil but it's

it's a microchannel coil oh yeah so it

is Aluminum it is going to stand up to

some of the elements here yep um but it

is a micr channnel coil so micr Channel

coils they only hold like a small amount

of refrigerant refrigerant it's very

difficult to actually charge them to

nail down the sof cooling when you're

checking the refrigerator on these make

sure you're using a probe and not a

whole manifold yeah because when you

when you're checking it and you take it

off you don't want a bunch of

refrigerant leaking out you can use a

you can use a a ball valve uh Quick

Connect something like that but you got

to be careful because it only holds a

small amount of refrigerant in these

micr Channel coils to so we got to make

sure we don't leave yeah if you use H

like if the tech use hoses that right

correct that alone like that tiny amount

of refrigerant alone can really throw

off the sof Cooling and the performance

so that's what's tricky about uh

microchannel that's that's one thing

that's Tri out about microchannel so

let's get to the scoring so uh on this

we have a heavy duty protective coating

around around this micr channel coil

which makes sense because it's a micr

channel coil so it can get damed easy so

they got to have that protective coating

around there Dent points for that wait a

sec it's say York down there look at

that that's pretty cool yeah cool yeah

yeah love it so this has high BTUs so it

has uh it's within the uh has 35,800 so

it's definitely it's the closest one

it's the highest BTUs out of all these

units uh that's a good thing but the

sear rating is just it's it's one of the

lower SE ratings at 14.75 but it does

get the 10 points for the uh BTUs on

that it does have an exterior filter

dryer now you changed that so that

that's a great feature with this yeah

there is there is you don't have to now

hold on second so this is a tiny one

look at how tiny this is and that has to

do with the micro Channel H okay all

right so let's get into the air handler

here so the quality of this coil we're

going to give this a quality score of 20

this is a this is an opinion score this

is in our opinion the quality of this

coil is a 20 okay out of out of the out

of the 50 the highest just can't stop

saying that this is only our opinion yep

right all right so coil Coil Tubing size

10 mm good good Coil Tubing size it does

have the corrugated weight bab fins on

there that's a good thing good thing

right there 10 points for that

accessibility to the expansion valve

very good uh you see so the things the

ports are up here so you can access that

as well as cleaning that drain pan uh

very easy to clean the drain pan we get

a filter has a buil-in filter rack 10

point for that it has insulation support

very good insulation support for this

insulation it's not going to get sucked

into the blower that's very very good

and then it has a 5-speed ECM motor how

many mil we have on it has uh only three

three Ms on three Ms Y and uh this has a

small cabinet size so that it's very

good you can put at closet smaller uh

very good feature on that uh the last

thing is for the entire system here so

we're looking at the Greenworks

reliability score we cannot give this

one 10 points for reli and this is just

an opinion take it how you want it but

in my opinion uh I can't give this thing

a reliabil a good reliability score so I

can't give a 10 points for that it's got

lots of other good features but Johnson

Controls it's it's it's an unbelievable

company great engineering stuff very

smart folks you and I agree on that

right excellent but they also involved

in a lot of different things and I guess

we can just say that they may have to do

some improvements when they when it

comes to reliability reliability they

they did one improve and that's the

filter dry yeah that was a good one yeah

so I'll give that to them they are they

are making improvements but I just can't

give them the reliability right now it's

a little bit more folks a little bit

more all right so that's your York by
