2019. now when I decided to build my

site I knew I wanted to go after big

money where I could earn hundreds of

thousands of dollars of sale not the

nickels and dimes that many affiliate

programs pay out however building up

this form of passive income does take

time and requires a very specific

approach it's not a get rich quick

scheme but the results are worth the

effort in this video I'm going to show

you how to make money with affiliate

marketing but before we get started I

first I want to cover a little brief

history of affiliate marketing so

affiliate marketing is also called

referral marketing because you basically

refer people to products and services

and earn commissions when they make

purchases so essentially you're a

middleman or middle woman between a

buyer and the sale it actually all

started out in the mid 90s because of an

online flower shop founded by William J

Tobin called PC Flowers and Gifts so

they created a co-branded Flower and

Gift service for a bunch of large

websites who wanted to sell their

flowers so at the height of the program

they actually had 2 700 Affiliates by

1998 they generated millions of dollars

in Revenue so while John was having

success with his affiliate program a

small company you might have heard of

called Amazon have been working on their

own version of referral marketing so

they were unique and then it was the

first affiliate program available to the

general public so I mean anyone could

sign up as an Amazon associate and

publish custom banners and links on

their own personal or Business website

what you need to know though was that

this time Amazon was only selling books

so this kicked off the beginning of what

we now know as modern affiliate

marketing so as affiliate programs grew

so did online advertising with the use

of text and banner ads this was the very

early days of online advertising much

different than we know it today so from

Amazon's early success with affiliate

marketing came affiliate networks which

launched in 1998 so those were

Commission Junction and ClickBank which

are still around today among many others

so affiliate networks benefited both

businesses and affiliate marketers alike

so if a business had a product that they

wanted to scale and sell they would sign

up for a network list their product and

then the network would handle you know

all the technical aspects of the

affiliate program things like tracking

sales providing metrics based on unique

links who was referring traffic and

sales getting Affiliates and paying out

commissions to their affiliate partners

and as for the affiliate marketers they

could sign up with these networks and

pick from a catalog of products they

wanted to sell on their own websites now

as of today affiliate marketing

generates over 12 billion dollars

globally each year and it drives over 16

percent of Commerce sales around the

world so nowadays affiliate marketing is

very sophisticated and it's more

competitive than ever but because of

this if you commit to mastering it the

rewards are greater in terms of how much

money you can generate than ever before

passive income by definition is earning

money from a partnership Enterprise or

rental property in which you're not

actively involved in so it's detaching

this time for money aspect where you're

not directly working a wage for it

however the definitions changed over the

years to include money earned through

online efforts that take little or no

effort to create so for example

dividends and interest which you take

from like a stock portfolio are

considered passive income however these

passive income streams require one of

two things so capital or effort or a

little bit of both so if you have

Capital you can buy a business or

property that generates cash flow or you

can invest into stocks and live off

their interest it provides but you need

capital for that so if you don't have

the capital you have to invest your time

and effort into building something that

pays you later for the work that you did

so my favorite form of passive income is

affiliate marketing because you don't

have a product to sell you're just

promoting other people you're doing

marketing online and you're making

passive income but this requires your

time up front to set it up properly you

need to water it and maintain it and if

you do it correctly it can take very

little effort to maintain it once it's

going it will take real effort to build

it though so you can build and earn this

passive income from the work that you

did just once so Tim Ferriss made this

concept popular in his book The four

hour work week back in 2007 but it's

really evolved and become a lot bigger

and more data driven and scientific

since then so even big Brands like the

New York Times have a Blog you know

called wire cutter and product review

sites like ratings.com make an absolute

killing every month by being this

middleman between the consumer search on

Google and the eventual product purchase

buying from affiliate links so when I

started my blog adamenfro.com in 2019 I

put in a lot of effort creating this

content now my blog makes over 125 000 a

month just from affiliate marketing I

put that work and then it doesn't take

too much to maintain now because I got

ranking on Google for stuff that is

still ranking and just still sitting

there within the first few results of

Google for a lot of high value Search

terms so back then though I spent hours

researching keyword ideas coming up with

a Content strategy determining which

niches I wanted to go after and make

income from so when I started my site I

had a nine to five job so I could only

work on it in my spare time but as it

grew so did my income and it eventually

doubled and tripled my nine to five

income all from setting up a good

foundation of affiliate marketing

business strategies so now you know in

this video I want to get into some

specifics of how you can build this

passive income through affiliate

marketing

when getting started I always recommend

you build a site with your own name or a

simple variation as the domain now this

is mostly because you know it leaves you

open to as many opportunities in your

life that you can possibly get so you

don't want to pigeonhole yourself into a

niche that is too small too tiny or too

competitive or something you really

don't like or something that you can't

pivot with so for example if your domain

name has like running shoes in it

running shoes.com you can't really pivot

into something like lawnmower reviews

but if you have your domain is your name

like I do you can write about virtually

anything and eventually hone in on the

niche that works and that's the key most

people teach it that you have to find

the tiny Niche first but what if you

just start with you and you eventually

do it Based on data based on what works

and based on actually using Google in a

scientific method so if you start with a

niche but you don't get traction or lose

interest you can always go back to the

drawing board delete old content start

something different don't give up don't

quit by doing this you're allowing

yourself to fail fast and learn as you

go but when you start your goal should

basically be to be as profitable as fast

as possible and choosing your Niche has

everything to do with this so for

example let's say you're passionate

about productivity so you decide write a

blog about helping college students be

more productive at college and with

their studies but when you start

thinking about this audience you realize

well most college students don't have

much money the money they do have they

most likely won't spend it on like

productivity software or a course it's

going to be spent going on partying like

I spent it on but you could take that

same passion for productivity and pivot

it slightly to something else so you

could focus on course creators in the

digital marketing space and talk about

how to be more productive when you're

creating products reviewing e-learning

software community and group software so

now you have a smaller audience to

Target but you're able and willing to

they're they're going to spend more

money to make themselves more productive

easily so when you're able to make these

easy shifts in your focus just slight

tweaks you can keep going you can test

that as a blog post not your entire

website and you can start making money

instead of giving up because your

audience doesn't have money so you can

pivot and adapt over time and by the way

one thing though affiliate marketing is

competitive so since the Inception of

affiliate marketing back in the early

Amazon days it's growing to be

incredibly competitive so instead of

just having a bunch of individual site

creators throwing banner ads on their

site hoping for the best there are

entire brands with full staffs writing

articles and ranking for highly

competitive keywords the Mom and Pops

type blog like mine like I can still

outrank Forbes and business.com Business

Insider all these sites with a small

team so you can easily find keywords and

niches that you want to Target to make

the most money by doing a search term

with the word best so something like

best flat screen TV so you'll see sites

with reviews that have affiliate links

to Amazon or Best Buy or Walmart where

they might make commissions from these

purchases so you can also use a tool

like ahrefs which is a keyword research

tool I use every day to find the

profitable niches to focus on with all

this competition it means you need to

take it seriously blogging is not a

hobby anymore affiliate marketing is not

a hobby it's something serious but you

can rank it's just about spotting the

opportunities so with that you need to

spend more time thinking and planning

about your Niche and what you want to

Target and the keywords you want to

start with so you may not know this but

around 95 of bloggers Who start out with

an idea of making money typically fail

and it's not because they were bad at

writing or they weren't passionate

enough because they couldn't make it

Prof profitable period if I had to write

about things that I was passionate about

you know fantasy football astronomy my

favorite recipes and I was doing that

without making a dime I would quit every

single time too but that's actually good

news for you the good news here is that

most people starting out are going to

quit they aren't your competition if you

can just not quit you're going to

succeed so your goal should be to stick

it out and learn how to compete with the

big player so how do you do that so you

build your affiliate site the right way

from day one and you can find your

Competitive Edge so when I started my

blog I wanted to rank for terms around

business software so things that I've

been using at work like video

conferencing software crms website

hosting online courses landing page

Builders so you need to know things that

others don't this was my competitive

Advantage because I knew a lot about

these things I knew a lot about SEO and

Link building and things that people

didn't know at this time so I could

write and talk about them easily which

made the process of creating content

that much faster and more efficient so

all I had to do was create content

around these types of software posts

review them make sure I set up my blog

pages in a way that would get traffic

from Google and this way I was the

middleman between someone thinking of

something and searching for it on Google

a product and purchasing through an

affiliate link so something like the

best podcast hosting so here my site

lives on Google and sends me traffic

every day for the term podcast hosting

or best podcast hosting and even just

from one recommendation on this page I

make over eight thousand dollars in

affiliate commissions every month from

buzzsprout that one recommendation alone

so once you know how to set up your site

and write about topics to rank for get

traffic on Google then you just have to

implement the strategy and continue to

implement it and continue to do it over

time without quitting so how fast can

you implement what you know if you want

to come up with this writing schedule

this content creation schedule so when I

was first starting out I had this nine

to five so I did my best to publish two

or three solid articles a week sometimes

two sometimes one even now when I

started making money and I was trickling

in some income I was able to quit my job

which bought me a lot of time back to

create more content then I hired another

writer to help me scale this faster so I

was able to basically double my output

and then focus on other things like link

building guest blogging building my

authority getting targeted traffic to my

site so you don't have to go as fast as

I did but doing this with some speed and

some urgency and focus is important

early on this is how you build true

momentum so if you only post one or two

articles a month it's going to take you

a long time to rank for keywords that

bring any amount of appreciable you know

traffic and value and money into your

website so you should aim to post

multiple articles a week if you can if

you can because not everything you

publish is going to rank so the way that

you create Leverage is by publishing

regularly and letting Google do its

thing by recognizing you as an authority

in the niche you're writing about so

let's take a look at some numbers so

let's say you want to replace your

current income and you currently make

five thousand dollars a month working 40

hours a week for sake of Simplicity

let's say you're promoting a few

different affiliate products that cost

500 each and you make a 20 Commission on

those sales that means you need to sell

50 of those products every month in

order to match your income of five

thousand dollars every month now when

you break down the numbers we usually

say that around two percent of your

visitors will make a purchase that means

you need around 2500 visitors to the

pages that link to the products you're

sending traffic to so 50 purchases times

a hundred dollars equals five thousand

dollars now you've just matched your

nine to five income it's time to double

that you know keep working figure out

the next steps then you can quit your

job Focus 100 on this business or hire

someone to help you while you're working

your day job it's really up to you as

long as you don't quit so when you just

start out it's best to have a plan for

this content so I use what I call a

Content assembly strategy where I make

sure every article has a basic structure

it's optimized for SEO I have affiliate

links and multiple pages on it and it

links you know from other pages to my

website so this means you can get a lot

of content done relatively quickly if

you use kind of a Content assembly line

method the faster you can get your

content indexed in Google the faster

Google's AI can crawl your site

determine its Authority and start to

rank you initially in the search ranking

so it's about quality and quantity so

over time you continue to update your

content to keep it fresh and make it

more engaging so Google knows when you

update your pages so the better you do

this the higher you'll rank so higher

rankings equal more clicks and more

clicks equals more money so this was the

approach I took when starting out

because I knew I needed multiple pieces

of content out there before I'd see any

traction so when I first started making

money it motivated me and helped me

build more momentum to do more and the

progress snowballed from there and to

the blog I have now that earns over 125

000 a month from just affiliate income

so as you can see affiliate marketing is

a highly lucrative way to make money

online even now in 2022 we're still in

the beginning of a massive shift in how

people are spending their money so more

and more people are going online to buy

stuff instead of going out and while

this is a viable way to make money what

you need to remember is that it does

take time to build up your brand this is

not a get rich quick scheme but if you

do it correctly you have the opportunity

to quit your job save more for

retirement or even take it further and

build generational wealth by leveraging

your skills and abilities online so if
