📷 Introduction to USB-C Charging Test for Dell Inspiron 15
The video script introduces the channel and the host, w2best, who discusses tech, travel, and inspiration. The main focus of the video is to explore USB-C charging options for the Dell Inspiron 15 7000. The setup includes a Sony A6400 camera with a Sigma 16mm f/1.4 lens and a variable ND filter for optimal lighting conditions. Audio is handled by a Zoom H1n, ensuring high-quality sound. The host also contemplates a change in appearance, considering shaving his beard and mustache. A range of chargers and power banks are introduced for testing, including the original Dell charger, a 90Watt USB-C charger from LV Sun, an 87Watt charger from Del Taco with extra USB outlets, a 45Watt Lenovo charger, and two power banks with different wattage outputs, as well as a phone charger for a comprehensive test on charging capabilities.
🔋 Testing USB-C Chargers with Different Power Outputs
The script details the testing process of various USB-C chargers on the Dell Inspiron 15 7000. When the laptop's battery is critically low, only the original barrel charger can boot up the system; a 90Watt USB-C charger requires the battery to have some charge before booting. The LV Sun 90Watt adapter successfully runs and charges the laptop, despite an alert about an undersized power adapter. The Del Taco 87Watt charger also charges the laptop effectively. Weight comparisons show significant savings when switching to the LV Sun and Del Taco chargers from the original Dell charger. The Lenovo 45Watt charger, however, does not charge the laptop while in use but does charge when the laptop is in hibernate mode.
🔌 Experimenting with Power Banks and Phone Chargers
The script continues with tests using power banks and a phone charger. The E-Glo power bank, capable of 60Watt output, charges the laptop when the lid is closed, indicating that a stronger output can charge even with a smaller and lighter device. However, a smaller power bank with only 15Watt output and the phone charger fail to charge the laptop, even in hibernate mode. The script emphasizes the importance of power delivery for effective charging and the inability to charge with just a standard USB-A to USB-C cable.
💻 Conclusion on Charging Capabilities and Future Content
The final paragraph summarizes the findings of the USB-C charging test. It confirms that 87Watt and 90Watt chargers work well for running and charging the Dell Inspiron 15 7000, while the 45Watt Lenovo charger only charges when the laptop is in hibernate mode. Power banks with sufficient wattage output, like the 60Watt E-Glo, can charge the laptop, but lower wattage options and phone chargers cannot. The host expresses hope that the test was informative and hints at upcoming videos featuring other interesting computers as potential competitors to the Dell Inspiron 15 7000. The script ends with an invitation to subscribe and a prompt for viewers to share their content preferences for future videos.

Transcripts
hey everyone welcome back to the channel
i'm w2best and i make videos about tech
travel and inspiration and if you're new
around here please join all the
subscribers that have come in lately to
the channel i would really appreciate to
see you as part of this crew before we
get into today's video which is all
about usbc charging for the dell
inspiron 15 let's just make some quick
changes to the setup here
this is the sony a6400 with a sigma 16
millimeter f 1.4 lens on it i also got a
variable nd filter which means that
regardless of how much sunlight or
natural light there is coming into the
room i can shoot in f 1.4 get a bit of
blurry background and i can keep it at a
shutter speed of 1 50th of a second
however let's also do something about
the sound and now we switch the audio
over to zoom h1n which means that the
full setup is now changed to sony a6400
camera with a sigma 16 millimeter f 1.4
lens with a variable nd filter to keep
the values where i want them to be and a
zoom h1n to run the audio straight into
the a6400 while i'm at changing all this
stuff maybe i should just get rid of my
beard at the same time as i'm updating
my camera gear i'm updating my looks a
little bit let's do it
do you think i should run this mustache
look
no i did this a few years ago i think
i'm over it i'm getting rid of the
mustache as well today we're gonna talk
all about usb c charging for the dell
inspiron 15 7000 and as you know i
really like producing long videos but
that's not just because i want them to
be long for the sake of it i want them
to cover as much ground as possible and
fill them up with as much different
aspects and as much different scenarios
as possible so that you can really get
into
what do you actually need what
information do you need to be able to
fulfill the needs that you want from the
computer
the chargers we are looking at today are
the following first of all mostly for
size reference i have included the
original charger that came with the dell
inspiron 15 7000
it is this charger and as you can see
it's it's pretty big it's definitely one
of the bigger laptop chargers i have
been using with any of the laptops that
i have owned the first usbc option that
we are taking a closer look at is the
following
it's from a brand called lv sun
i don't know much about this brand i
think it's a random chinese brand i got
it off a cheap accessories website in
sweden and it's a 90 watt usbc power
delivery charger the third charger we
are looking at is an 87 watt charger
from del taco it looks like this
so instead of having cables coming out
from both sides it has the plug straight
into the charge brick and then it also
has two extra usb outlets next to the
usb c charge cable the fourth charger we
are looking at is my lenovo 45 watt
charger
this charger came with my lenovo mig 720
and it is way below the limit of what
dell recommends you to use for this
laptop but i'm willing to take the risk
and charge with an under watt charger
just to make sure that you can get the
information if it works or not many
people have wondered about if you can
charge the computer with a power bank
and because of that i want to include
two power banks in this usb c charging
test first of all we got my eglo 97 watt
hour power brick
which is a gigantic one
and it's really good because it can push
out 60 watts over usb-c
so this one should be able to charge the
battery over usb-c quite quickly
the second power bank in the test is
from sbs and it's much smaller
the reason i got this is that it can
actually output 15 watt over usbc so
it's enough to power a nintendo switch
while you're playing a game so i bought
it to be my specific nintendo switch
power bank
however let's see during this test if 15
watts are enough to power or charge the
dell inspiron 15 7000 and last but not
least we're gonna try out a phone
charger just because some people have
mentioned before that you can actually
charge a dell xps 15 with your phone
charger like a samsung phone charger or
an apple phone charger i got this
which is a
no name
phone charger it is 2.4 amps so
it's a fast charger for a phone but
let's see if it works with the computer
if it can push out any form of power and
actually charge the laptop battery one
experience i wanted to share first of
all
is when the computer is running down
really low on battery as long as there's
enough battery left for it to show this
warning battery is low or warning
battery is crucially low
i find that it works to plug in a usbc
charger and you're fine you're good to
go you can start up the computer and you
can run it as you want but when it runs
out of battery completely so that it's
not even able to boot up
i was not able to boot it up by just
plugging in the usbc charger of 90 watt
i need to plug in the barrel charger or
plug in the usbc cable wait for a while
so that the battery had some power in it
and then powered the computer up
afterwards to put this to the test
i have now plugged in the lvsum the 90
watt power brick
that runs over usb-c and we're going to
try to boot up the computer and see if
it works even though when i tried to
boot it up before it showed that battery
is really low notification already in
the bios
it is booting up and it's now showing
the alert message alert you have
attached an undersized 65 watt power
adapter to your system which is less
than the recommended 130 watt power
adapter to continue at peak performance
the system
may also draw power from the battery the
battery charges only when the power
provided by the adapter is greater than
the needs of your system
use a dell 130 watt or greater power
adapter to enable charging during peak
system performance
note this warning can be disabled in the
bios setup we're just going to continue
from this
and as you can see the computer boots up
just fine it states zero percent battery
however
that didn't last very long after just a
few seconds
it powered down because it couldn't run
the computer at the same time as it was
trying to charge up the battery over the
usbc 90 watt
so now i'm gonna leave this for a few
minutes just so it can charge up a few
percent of the battery and then we're
gonna try again
approximately one cup of coffee has now
passed and we're gonna try this again
and see if the computer starts up after
a few minutes of waiting time
we get the same message as last time
when we get into the computer we get a
12
battery available plugged in and
charging
and about two hours until it's fully
charged
perfect that means we reached our first
conclusion if the battery is completely
run out you can't start the computer
while being plugged into a 90 watt usbc
adapter you first need to let it sit and
charge for a while before you start the
computer up we also know that the lv sun
adapter works perfectly to run the
computer and charge it at the same time
let's see what weight saving we get from
moving from the original adapter into
this lv sun usbc adapter
it's kind of hard to place a computer
charger on a scale with this kind of
layout so i'm gonna use a plate to put
the charger on just for the record you
can see that now we are at zero grams
the dell original power brick including
the power cable weighs in at
498 grams
the lv sun power adapter including the
power cable weighs in at 340
grams
so you save 150 grams over the original
charger the del taco usb c power
delivery with 87 watt output
also charges the computer just fine
while it's running the computer is now
at 16
charge and it says 1 hour and 54 minutes
until it's fully charged in this idle
state that i'm running the computer in
right now the del taco power brick
weighs in at 287
grams so it's
215 grams lighter than the original
charger these two chargers are the usb c
chargers that i'm personally using to
charge my computer with usbc on the go
just for reference i want to plug in the
130 watt barrel charger that was
delivered with the computer so we can
see how quickly the computer estimates
this charger to charge the battery to
full
it says that that charger is going to do
it in 1 hour and 50 minutes so if the
computer is right on these parts it's
actually not that much quicker to charge
it with the
watt power adapter compared to the 90
and 87 watt power adapters i was using
previously i have now plugged in my
lenovo 45 watt usb c charger when i plug
that in the computer gives the same
message as it gives with the other two
charges
but
it won't charge
it says that there's 18 battery left
which is equivalent of two hours and 29
minutes use in battery saving mode but
it's not charging the battery what we're
gonna try now is just to close the
computer down which will put it in
hibernate mode and then we'll get back
to it after a few minutes and see if it
actually took some charge
while we are waiting for the computer to
charge i would be super happy if you
guys could just jump down to the comment
section and write a comment about what
you want me to make videos about in the
upcoming few weeks
while this is usually a place for my own
creativity outbursts i also really want
to listen to what you are interested in
receiving content about so please jump
down there and write a comment what you
want to see on this channel moving
forward the battery is currently not
charging but it stays at 22
instead of the 18 we were at previously
this means with a 45 watt charger it's
enough to just close it put it into
hibernate mode and then it will be
charging the battery during the time the
lid is closed
the lenovo charger weighs 191 grams so
you save approximately 310 grams next up
we have power banks this e-glo power
bank can output 60 watts from its usb c
port
when plugging it into the computer we
get the good old undersized power
adapter message and then we get a
message that says the computer is not
charging so it's the same as with the 45
watt power brick that we used before the
computer is not charging since this is a
stronger output than the last adapter i
just assume that it will be charging
when i close the lid but for the sake of
it we're just gonna test closing the lid
for about five minutes and then we'll
see how much battery the computer has
got from that time we have now been
charging the computer with this big ass
power brick from igloo for about 10
minutes and we're gonna see what it has
raised to
before we closed it down it was at 22
now we are at 33
this is a heavy piece of technology with
the usbc cable it comes in at 692
grams will it work with something that
is less than half the size and weight
let's find out when i plug this charger
in it actually starts charging the power
bank from the usbc cable instead let's
see if we can revert that
when we are plugged in and the computer
is turned on it seems like it only wants
to charge the power bank from the usb c
cable we're gonna close it down and see
if that continues or if we can get this
power bank to power the computer
unfortunately it's not working even when
i close the computer it still just takes
charge from the computer into the power
bank and it doesn't matter if i press
the buttons on the power bank it's still
only
charges the power bank
the last test i want to do is with a
regular phone charger i have this no
name phone charger with two usb outputs
they are both 2.4 amps
i plugged it in and of course it's not
charging the battery while the computer
is on so i'm gonna hibernate it right
now and we're gonna see if it takes any
charge while in hibernate mode
i have now left the computer in
hibernate mode for about 15 minutes to
see if it is charging with the phone
charger
and it is still at 32
which means that with my smaller power
bank
and with the phone charger it wouldn't
put any charge into the computer when
it's in hibernate mode i'm not gonna
give up yet though i want to turn the
computer off completely and see if it
takes some charge when it's turned off
and plugged in with the phone charger
we have reached the final test where i'm
going to power on the computer after
about 10-15 minutes of charging with a
phone charger while being completely
turned off
and the computer is still at 32
so it does not work to charge with a
phone charger
even if the computer is completely
turned off
and there you have it my extensive test
of usb-c chargers for the daily inspire
15 7000 as i have mentioned before both
the 87 watt and the 90 watt chargers
work perfectly fine even when running
the computer but the lenovo 45-watt
charger does not work when you're
running the computer however it charges
the laptop when you hibernate it and you
can therefore just close it down let it
sit and charge for a while and then
start using it again using the battery
the 60 watt power bank worked perfectly
also to charge it up in hibernate mode
but it didn't work with a smaller power
bank that could only output 15 watts the
same goes for the different phone
chargers i was trying out you cannot
charge with just a regular usb a to usb
c cable you need that power delivery to
be able to get some power into the
battery and some power into the
components of the computer i really hope
you enjoy this test and that it will
help you in your search for the perfect
computer i have found what i think is
the best computer on the market right
now but regardless of that i'm actually
going to put out a few videos in the
upcoming days about other computers that
i found to be very interesting
competitors to the daily inspire 15
7000. stay tuned for those subscribe to
the channel if you haven't already and i
will see you in the next video have a
nice day bye bye
